I haven’t thought about this book in years. And now I am going to read it again. The first time I read it I finished it in one sitting and then bought copies for several of my friends. It is an amazing story, brilliantly told, of starting with nothing, working in ways one never imagines, and getting everything you ever wanted. Of course everything …
So many reviewers rave over this book and its insight that I had to try it. I found the story sweet and the prose lovely. It is a story that nourishes the soul and should be shared widely.
A beautifully written tale about following one’s dreams. The story is thought provoking but the message is simple and timeless.
I have read this book many times and it’s message changes with the circumstances of my life at that moment. It is a simple story of a shepard who has dreams that he is searching to fulfill or is there a deeper message? The story is open to many interpretations. I really love the writing style of Coelho and would highly recommend this book.
The Alchemist is a parable for adults. It’s a tale about following your dreams and your passions. The story centers on Santiago, a shepherd boy, who embarks on a quest to complete his Personal Legend–the thing that will make him most happy and fulfilled in life.
Along the way he meets individuals who chose not to pursue their Personal Legend …
Most reviews of this book claim it was a life changer, and I have to agree. Following the main character on his journey for “treasure” was one of the most inspirational reads I have had in a really long time.
I don’t think that my review will do this book justice but I will try. I found this book by accident. The story is truely inspirational. Mr. Coelho’s style of writting coveyed the theme and message of the book perfectly. I have read this book four times and plan on reading it again.
Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist has been this blinking light beckoning me for years…yet I have never read it until now. Timing is everything, right? Given how things are going (or not going rather) in my life at the moment, this little book provided me with a lot of food for thought.
The Alchemist is a self-help book hidden under the guise of …
I found this book only recently, although it has enjoyed success for several years. It’s a fable depiction of a story with great depth and powerful underlying messages. A shepherd travels in search of treasure, learning along the way to not only listen to his inner voice but also to the voices of those he meets along the way who are purposeful …
This is one of my all time favorite books! I loved the adventure the boy takes and with each character on the journey there is more revelation, not only to the young man on his quest but to the reader. I found it eye opening, thoughtful and packed with so many nuggets of wisdom and thoughts. No only is the boy taken on a soul searching journey …
This book is, in my opinion, literally the best book ever. Everyone should read this book, it’s exciting and has a lot of lessons to teach. I’m a slow reader but it kept me stuck on it so much that I read it in a few days!
What a wonderful book! I loved it so much I reread it several times and featured it in a book study group. It makes you think, gasp, feel and experience possibilities you may have previously missed. The way I view things now is different …in a good way. Do yourself a favor and get this one – you won’t be sorry.
Every few years, a book comes out that catches the attention of the public and becomes one of those “life-changing, must read” books. I tend to avoid those books like the plague. Lol.
However… The Alchemist has developed quite a following over the years and I will admit I think it’s well-deserved. I first read it without knowing it’s …
After hearing many good comments about this book from others, I decided to take a look for myself. It’s a short book. It’s written in a simple style, like an old fable. I found the simple style calming to read. Yet the story is compelling, and I had to find out what happens next. The book’s deep questions came upon me subtly and put me in a …
One of the very best books I’ve ever read. Recommended by my son and this book brought us closer together. Do yourself a favor and read it. Life changing!.
Alchemist forces you to think about a lot of decisions you took vs decisions you could have taken in your life. And Coelho inserts numerous of his own thoughts and opinions throughout the story. But the beauty of it is that he does so in a very mystic sort of way that it does not sound preachy. Many of those opinions come as questions, which is a …
The atmosphere was intoxicating. I could breathe the desert, I could feel the heat, I could feel the desire in his heart. A story we can all relate to-we’re all searching for our inner treasure.
I read this book in Portuguese. I barely speak Portuguese. Even with that terrible language barrier, I was captivated by the picaresque tale about a Shepherd who travels East to seek his fortune. Some day I will read it in English to pick up all the nuances.
Have you ever wondered if you were on the path intended for your life story? After reading this book, it was eye opening to me for “ME”. It is inspirational and helps with the idea of counting one’s blessings and seeing the positive in your own world. I want to be the cup half full and this was a great place to start. I give it as a gift to …
Used to read this to my 10 year old and she would stay up to late just to listen. And I would read past her falling asleep, cause I wanted to know the next page.
