#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLEREverything starts somewhere. For elite military cop Jack Reacher, that somewhere was Carter Crossing, Mississippi, way back in 1997. A lonely railroad track. A crime scene. A cover-up. A young woman is dead, and solid evidence points to a soldier at a nearby military base. But that soldier has powerful friends in Washington. Reacher is ordered undercover to …
Reacher is ordered undercover to find out everything he can and then to vanish. But when he gets to Carter Crossing, Reacher meets local sheriff Elizabeth Deveraux, who has a thirst for justice and an appetite for secrets. Uncertain they can trust each other, they reluctantly join forces. Finding unexpected layers to the case, Reacher works to uncover the truth, while others try to bury it forever. The conspiracy threatens to shatter his faith in his mission—and turn him into a man to be feared.

liked it a lot, Reacher being Reacher.
Reacher is my man, and this is just the latest example of a great hero being guided by a great thriller writer’s prose and excitement about what he’s doing.
I like Jack Reacher. He’s a gritty, character that grows on you. The storyline has good twists and a great plot. I really enjoyed reading it. I’ve read a few later Jack Reacher novels and this is a good starter novel. His character is well defined so no matter which novel you read, you can follow the plot and enjoy the storyline. I highly recommend the series.
You just can’t beat Lee Child for great writing, fast paced style and smart mouthed characters. Everything I like in my fictional heroes.
Lee Child’s THE AFFAIR was a walk back into Jack Reacher’s past. The author cleverly goes back in time and creates an action-packed murder mystery. THE AFFAIR looks at Reacher, the young Army MP and how he becomes the man he is today. I really thought I had figured out the ‘Who Dunnit.’ I was wrong. But Jack our protagonist got it right. The question is: What is he going to do about it? If you love a good mystery, you will Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series.
I love all Jack Reacher novels. Thank you Lee Child!
A great read, like all of the Reacher books.
All the Jack reacher books are similar, and this was one of them. They are exciting and interesting and keep you engaged. The general plot was a bit silly and relatively inconsequential. The ending was also somewhat on satisfactory and even a bit unclear. This was not my favorite among be Jack reacher books.
Pure Reacher!
I liked all of the Jack Reacher books, liked the character and story lines.
I really enjoy this character. The author never disappoints.
Excellent
GREAT!
I didn’t like it
Exciting, good read. Different from all others.
Child’s Jack Reacher books are ALL great reads!
Where the tale began. I will never understand who thought Tom Cruise could pass for Jack Reacher.
Jack Reacher has been my hero for quite awhile now. Highly recommend Lee Child’s books about Reacher or any other.
Great book, as always. I love Jack Reacher but still can’t get over the fact that in the movies 5’6″ Tom Cruise plays 6’5″ Jack Reacher. I guess I can’t blame Jack for that, but, Lee, how much money did Tom Cruise give you anyway?
I love all the Jack Reacher books!
