#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLEREverything starts somewhere. For elite military cop Jack Reacher, that somewhere was Carter Crossing, Mississippi, way back in 1997. A lonely railroad track. A crime scene. A cover-up. A young woman is dead, and solid evidence points to a soldier at a nearby military base. But that soldier has powerful friends in Washington. Reacher is ordered undercover to …
Reacher is ordered undercover to find out everything he can and then to vanish. But when he gets to Carter Crossing, Reacher meets local sheriff Elizabeth Deveraux, who has a thirst for justice and an appetite for secrets. Uncertain they can trust each other, they reluctantly join forces. Finding unexpected layers to the case, Reacher works to uncover the truth, while others try to bury it forever. The conspiracy threatens to shatter his faith in his mission—and turn him into a man to be feared.

I read these purely for enjoyment, so I don’t worry when the characters get away with murder and the plot gets wanky here and there as long as the action, surprises and witty dialogue keep up at a steady pace. I wasn’t disappointed. A good entertaining read.
There are no bad Reacher books!
I’m a big fan of Jack Reacher and this book did not disappoint!
I like the character.
I simply cannot put Lee Child’s books down once I start reading them. Always well written and action packed. You never know how it’s going to end until it ends.
What can I say? I’m a Jack Reacher/Lee Child fan and The Affair is a fine example why.
Typical Reacher book. I loved it.
What’s not to like about Jack.
I cannot overlook an opportunity to get me some Jack Reacher!
I love every Lee Child / Jack Reacher book. Love Love Love them
I cannot put it down
Like all Reacher novels, fun, fast paced, gratuitous sex for the ego of a character who could never exist…really?.. an Army MP that could kick a Rangers ass? Never gonna happen, but it is fiction so it’s a good way to burn a little time and there are some clever plot changes that made it stay interesting.
Good read
All Reacher books are must reads. I love the character, the stories, the twists, the puzzles, everything. This one explains a crucial event in Reacher’s life. He always does the “right thing,” no matter the consequences, even to himself.
Another great Jack Reacher story.
Like each of the Reacher series books this one is fast paced, unpredictable, and well researched. The stories make you want to finish each one the same day you start it.
Lee Child and Reacher never disappoint.
I love nearly all of Lee Child’s’ books. He sometimes gets a little bloody. Jack Reacher is a wonderful character. I highly reccomend his books
