Is a week of passion enough to warrant changing their lives forever? Italian born Giselle Moore is reinventing herself for the second time in her short twenty-four years of life, trading in her bohemian artist’s life in Paris for the grit and glamour of New York City where the family she hasn’t seen in years awaits her. But before beginning her new life, she travels to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico … Mexico searching for a week of relaxation and reprieve before barreling into her turbulent future.
She never expected to meet the handsome and enigmatic Frenchman Sinclair on the plane and she certainly never would have imagined herself accepting his proposal for a weeklong, no-strings-attached affair. Giselle has never experienced anything as heady as Sinclair’s controlled seduction and cool yet devastatingly erotic commands and she finds herself powerless to stop the ferocity of their passions, even when she discovers he has a partner back home. The last thing she needs in her life is another complication, yet as the week wears on, she finds it surprisingly easy to relinquish control to Sinclair, a man she knows nearly nothing about. And to her horror, the one thing she promised never to submit, her battered heart, is just as easily captured in the business mogul’s unyielding hands.

The Affair is the start of a forbidden love affair that eventually threatens to destroy the very foundations of relationships in its wake. What better way to spice things up other than by having an affair with a striking handsome stranger as sinful as his name? Except it becomes a complicated and painful package when Giselle eventually falls for the hot stranger who has no intentions of pursuing things further.
An explosion of a love affair, Sin and Elle fall hard and fast for each other. I expected an affair with a dramatic parting with an explanation of how Sin would win Elle over. A beautifully crafted story with elegant details of Beautiful Los Cabos.
Each of them trying hard to keep their hearts free, reminding themselves of the very short time together. Giana Darling builds the scene with richer, deeper layers through each chapter, she makes you wish for the unattainable: Love.
I look forward to the next book in the series. I love the explosive heat Ms. Darling writes with. How she makes me feel like I want to be dominated by Sinclair, and how much I want him to find the love he so badly needs. I can’t wait to find out more about Elle. She sounds so beautiful, but her self esteem is so damaged. A wonderful, smart, sexy beginning to the series!

A searing hot romance ignites between two unassuming individuals. Elle is on her way back to her family in the states, after a 4 year hiatus while attending art school in France. But she’s detoured for a vacation in Mexico before facing them, but then meets the intriguing Frenchman named Sinclair. Their chemistry pours off the pages of this story and these two know how to start a fire. Elle knows this is just a vacation affair, she knows that Sin has a relationship to go back to, but she agrees to his proposition to finally live it up once in her life. For one week, they live by the philosophy of ‘What happens in Mexico stays in Mexico’, until it actually doesn’t.
The Affair was an enrapturing read that held me spellbound from beginning to end. What began as a one week affair soon became so much more. Sinclair and Giselle’s story took me completely by surprise. I loved how it played with my emotions and reminded me that love isn’t always conventional and sometimes develops when it’s least expected. The push and pull, tension, and suspense of their story unfolding has me eagerly ready to dive into their next book. This forbidden, passionate yet heartfelt read is a definite pageturner and one I couldn’t put down.
Ooh, I’m adding a new book boyfriend to the list! Sin is very aptly named. He is definitely the best kind of sin. Elle is such a lucky girl. This is a great start to what I’m sure is going to be an amazing series. The emotion Giana Darling packs in to this first book is unreal! I can’t wait to read more!
This book will keep your heart racing! It’s a fast paced read with SUPER hot scenes. It ends on a huge cliffhanger so be ready to need the next book in the series immediately.
The Evolution of Sin completely changed my view as a Romance reader. DO NOT be put off by the cheating warning. If you don’t read this bc of cheating, you are cheating yourself out of an AMAZING story. This series is about Sinclair and Elle finding each other, but also their respective journeys of self-discovery and sexual awakening. And it. Is. Hot. No one writes sexy times like Giana Darling. Recommend this book to everyone- esp readers who appreciate a little BDSM/kink.
Where has Giana Darling been my entire life?! The Affair caught me by surprise, without doubt—a story that is more than “just an affair”, but instead a naive, sweet woman’s transformation from awkward to self-assured; timid to sexually liberated.
With promises of forbidden affairs and uncontrollable lust, The Affair will confound and conflict even the most open-minded readers. It isn’t gentle in nature, or apologetic in deliverance; it is emotionally crude and heart-wrenching, a train wreck of dread and inevitable anguish.
“No mortal man should hold a siren in his arms, but you’ve given me the opportunity of a life time.”
Giselle Moore is such a sweet woman. Shy and timid, a little unsure of herself, but there’s this undeniable independence and inexplicable boldness underneath waiting to be unleashed, to blossom into something magnificent. Sinclair couldn’t be anymore different—brooding yet charming; confident and dominant yet enigmatic. I both love and hate this infuriating, mysterious Frenchman and, much like Giselle, cannot stop myself from gravitating towards his commanding persona.
“He was a paradox, my Frenchman, hot and cold, stern but poetic, mine but not mine.”
I don’t condone cheating. I can’t begrudge the characters though, because no matter how thoughtless or inconsiderate their actions, Giselle doesn’t owe anyone anything. And realistically, no one can judge a situation they don’t fully understand. Neither character revels in their decision, but laments over real life’s unfortunate circumstances.
The Affair isn’t about infidelity, or who’s right or wrong. Giana Darling doesn’t make excuses or glorify the characters’ actions. The Affair reminds us that sometimes love—either opportune or cruelly ill-timed—is unconventional and at the base level it is always raw, oftentimes brutally, emotionally agonising and almost always unexpected.
“Let me pretend that I’m allowed to love you, that I’m yours. That tomorrow instead of getting on a plane alone, I’ll go back to a life that we share.”
Rife with angst and tension, The Affair will pull you towards its centre of heartache. Dripping in lurid and sordid detail, Giselle and Sinclair’s connection is taboo and forbidden; yet the chemistry they have is intense, titillating and difficult to stay away from. Emotions will soar—from pain, guilt and anguish—while reading this. I know my heart is feeling bruised and battered along with Giselle’s.
The story of Elle and Sinclair captured me from word one. The roller coaster had me rooting for a happily ever after even though it seems like they’re doomed to fail. An affair is all that seems possible and yet you want more for them. Giana Darling gave us wonderful characters and enough heart wrenching that you have to keep going and see what happens!

This book was my first read by Giana Darling and it was a sizzling piece of work. I loved it. I was really drawn in by the authors writing style. I will definitely be reading more of her works!
I don’t like cheating.
I don’t like books containing cheating.
But this was cheating done well.
Confused? Well, I was too after I’d finished reading it. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did, which is what really surprised me. Giana Darling sure can spin a story.
This book will have you questioning your morals, that is if you have any when you read this book. Painstakingly beautiful in all the right and wrong ways you can feel about having an affair. It is so terribly hard not to root for this couple and I have no idea which way this story is about to turn but I need to find out! So I need to cut this review short so I can download book 2!
Let me preface this review saying that I cannot handle books with cheating. The title of this story is The Affair, so obviously I knew what I was getting into. Seeing as it was the first book in a trilogy, and I am now OBSESSED with this author, I wanted to give it a try.
Now, I wasn’t quite sure about the story going in. I immediately knew the chemistry was going to be off the charts, but I couldn’t be certain I’d be able to go along with a story about an affair. One the story began, I realized this was going to be much more than simply a story about “cheating.”
Sinclair is a paradox. He seems so straight-laced and focused, but then there are times he seems almost boyish, and you can see the passion that lies within him. It’s almost foreign to him when he feels this passion bubbling inside himself, and it increases his feeling of guilt toward allowing himself into his situation at all. Now, I am NOT taking away any blame here, but I don’t know what I would do if I felt the things he felt when meeting and spending time with Elle.
Elle is inexperienced with the idea of a “holiday affair.” So when she decides to follow Sinclair into the unknown, she cannot expect the repercussions that would follow them. Honestly, neither of them expected to find what they did in each other. Elle was an interesting character for me. She seemed to be close with (most of) her family, an artist, and generally seemed funny and kind, but then she also had almost this alter ego that Sinclair was able to bring out.
Altogether, I feel this story wasn’t exactly “right” on all levels, but it was a story about discovering something more than living life to fulfill obligations and meet expectations.
This story swept me away or should I say “Sin” Sinclair stole my heart. Giselle and Sinclair meet on a plane to Mexico and end up agreeing to a “no-strings attached” affair for one week. OMG!! their affair, their chemistry, their sizzling scenes were everything. Their story swept me away to their paradise and I didn’t want to come home. Giana Darling has this unique talent of bringing her characters to life and making you fall in love with them. I can’t wait for more Sin and Giselle in book #2 The Secret!! Absolutely LOVED IT!!!
One week, no questions, no promises just two people enjoying each other. This was my first book by Giana Darling and it was so good.
Great set up, I love Sin and Elle’s story, so freakin hot! Like right from the start, reel in the heat.
Would I go out with a stranger? A handsome striking hot Frenchman? Maybe..
‘The Affair’ was a great introduction from the series. Whatever happened between Sin and Elle was dangerous.. crazy risky but I was super curious with their journey. I have felt the vulnerbility between two strangers. The connection was intense, smoldering sex and very much in control. My eyes would said No.. but afterall my heart would say Yes..
After reading my first Giana Darling book I was hooked. I had to read more by this author. I didn’t know what to expect with The Affair but I honestly have to say that I loved this story. I love the chemistry between Elle and Sinclair. They are a wonderful, sexy and exciting duo. Knowing up front that Sinclair has a long time partner left Elle with the choice to have this fling while on her Mexico vacation. She just never imagined she would actually fall for him. So to make things easier she leaves on their last night together before he wakes up. Giana Darling is such a gifted writer her words are magical.
The Affair is book one in the Evolution of Sin Trilogy. Giselle and Sinclair meet on vacation and sparks fly. Their chemistry was off the charts from the beginning and had scorching sexy scenes. I loved Giselle, not too sure how I feel about Sinclair yet. Looking forward to reading the next book.
