Who knew the six animals I thought I was seeing in my dreams were real? A bear, rabbit, pig, donkey, owl and tiger land in my backyard…No, this isn’t the beginning of a bad joke. It’s real and it’s my life. Besides the shock over seeing my animal friends I thought I had dreamed up suddenly appear, I have two bigger problems. One: they are no longer animals, well most of them aren’t. Two: they’ve … Two: they’ve brought trouble to my doorstep.
When the animals ahem I mean guys I’ve been dreaming about show up unexpectedly, I learn about a whole other world I knew nothing about. My parents have been keeping secrets from me and now that the truth is out, it’s up to me to help the six guys from Hundred Acre Woods discover their own past.
Can we overcome all the secrets? Will we be able to beat Huff at his own game? Find out those answers and more in this six book serial episodes.

The Adventures of Winnie- Book 1- Kelly A. Walker
I love Eeyore. You know, the donkey in the “Adventures of Winnie-The-Pooh” by A.A. Milne? Yeah. Love that dang donkey. He reminds me that no matter what happens in my life, there are people that will always help my find my “tail”. I love him so much, that I actually have a large tattoo of him on my arm. I. Love. Eeyore. I also enjoy the other characters in the Hundred Acre Wood universe. We all grew up with them in some iteration of them, from the classic characters to the newer, stylized versions that are more common to us. So, when I found out that Kelly was writing a series of reverse harem novellas based on the beloved characters, I was, first, kinda horrified, because, come on…they’re classic! They’re my childhood! Then I was intrigued. How in the world would these inanimate, imaginary childhood musings be portrayed in an RH??
I mean, I can kinda see it because the majority of the characters are male, so having them shift from animal form to human would be do-able. But how could I, as a reader who knows these characters fairly well from childhood, imagine them in human form, let alone as a cohesive hexad? Thankfully Kelly kept physical descriptions and personalities as close to their animal counterparts as possible, right down to Owl’s white tipped human hair and Tigger’s exuberance, so we shouldn’t have any problems keeping them straight in our imaginations as we read.
Let’s meet our characters a little:
Winnie- Our Heroine, has some heart issues but is your average high school senior, dealing with typical high school BS. Oh, and she’s magical.
Porter- Bear shifter (aka Pooh)
Ezra- Donkey shifter (aka Eeyore)
Tobias- Tiger shifter (aka Tigger)
Paxton-Pig shifter (aka Piglet)
Rogen- Rabbit shifter (aka Rabbit)
Oxley- Owl shifter (aka Owl)
Winnie’s parents- Mom is some sort of witch/magical being, I believe dad is a normal human (or for those into HP, he’s a muggle)
Huff, Invader of Dreams- Our bad guy
Kendra- A mother type figure to the boys (I’m taking a stab that she is supposed to Kanga)
The boys’ parents- not much known about them in this book.
At this time, we don’t know overly much about the boys, but Kelly has promised that we will learn more about them over the next 5 books. And Kelly left this part on a heck of a cliffhanger (Lawd, I hate cliffhangers! But I will suffer through this because I know it’s gonna be good!)
Also, Look at that cover! That was done by Nikki Thompson. It’s it gorgeous?? All the books will have the same cover with some differences. The orb will show each of the different animal versions of the characters and the cover colors will match the animal. Now I don’t normally buy the actual books of the things I read, but I might just get this series when it’s finished so I can see the covers all together!
So, would I recommend this? If you don’t like cliffhangers, I would hold off and put it in your TBRP until October-ish when Kelly anticipates all in the series will be fully released. But if you don’t mind a cliffhanger…go get it now! Since it’s a novella, it’s a short read and it’s quite light, so if you have to put it down for a bit to go adult, you can pick it back up fairly easily. It’s also available in KU, so if you don’t want to pay the 99 cents, you can “borrow” that way as well!
PS. Memphis and her guys make a cameo in the most unlikely of places. If you haven’t read her story yet, go grab that too. Also, Kelly has a Piper (One of Memphis’ half sisters) book coming out in the near future, so look for that! Really, if you enjoy RH books, keep Kelly on your list to tack for new releases, cause she has quite a bit coming out in the next few months that I know you’re gonna want to read!
OMG I LOVED this! I am a huge Winnie the Pooh fan and was intrigued to read this to see the authors slant on it and well it was just wow! Well written I immediately got sucked into this fun story and felt as though i was there in the hundred acre wood. Lots of laughing out loud moments and the characters are just superb and I just cannot wait to read The next book!
This was such a fun start to a series and I can’t wait to read more! It’s a fresh take on Winnie the Pooh and all the crew. I love that young Winnie is a very strong young lady. She loves and respects her parents, and doesn’t seem to be the “rebel without a cause” type of teen which is refreshing. I’m intrigued by each of Winnie’s guys and can’t wait to see more of them! I loved the quotes st the beginning of each chapter. They each brought a smile to my face.
