TOP TIP: Don’t put out an online ad offering your services as a fake date. Someone will take you up on it.And it won’t just be for one night. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I ended up being Mason Jackson’s fake girlfriend. He didn’t even want me to be. No—his sister was solely responsible for me being his date for his ten-year high school reunion. Now, she’s responsible for telling his … responsible for telling his parents our relationship is real.
We have no choice. We have to act like this isn’t all a mistake, like it’s not all fake, like we’re totally, completely, utterly, head-over-heels in love with each other.
Simple, right?
Wrong.

Absolutely love Emma Hart’s sense of humor and it shines bright through all of the characters in this book. The narrative was light, refreshing, and hilarious. Lauren and Mason had an easy, confident chemistry. The outspoken, witty banter was glorious. Quick, easy read that will leave you wanting more! Perfect Rom-Com for summer!
“I was feeling far too many things for the man who was sitting mere feet away from me. There was only so much time you could spend with someone before you really started to feel things for them, and I think we’d crossed the line tonight. At least I had. I’d crossed the line.”
Night with friends + drinks + computer = place an ad offering your fake girlfriend skills.
And that’s how Lauren’s night ended. But if it was all a joke, the message she receives the next day from someone responding to her ad, reminds her that it actually exists. And it is right in plain sight. And agreeing to be the false girlfriend for a guy at a school reunion party can be a fun opportunity.
Mason has no idea that his sister set up a blind date for him. And after the initial shock, where he is still debating whether to strangle her, maybe shows up accompanied in an event that his ex will be can be enjoyable. Even more so considering he found his ex with another man in bed and she has a difficult personality, extremely spoiled and vindictive.
A fake date with a woman in a pink dress who doesn’t take any crap from anybody. An ex cornered and who escapes to avoid confrontation. A relaxed and avenged Mason. And a sneaking at McDonald’s. What could be better? This fake date was the best in history.
If only Mason’s sister did not open her big mouth and say that he was dating for their parents, he would not have to beg for Lauren’s services again. But it’s all a lie, pretense. After all, neither wants a relationship. Right?
And as they spend more time together, they will be attracted more and more. Lauren is full of energy, simple, vibrant, without filter, with a quirky cat and a passion for cheeseburger. Mason is handsome, funny, kind and proving he’s a great fake boyfriend. And with so much pretense, the boundaries between truth and lie end up interspersing. And what was false, may be the chance of something true for both of them.
A good romantic cliche, funny, cheeky, with a couple with an absurd chemistry and that will make the reader cheer for them.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
I always thoroughly enjoy an Emma Hart book, but let me tell you, this one has to be one of, if not, my fave that I have read from her so far. I have not literally laughed out loud at a book in a very long time, and this had me in stitches and trying not to laugh like a maniac if I happened to reading in front of others. At home, all bets were off and I was cackling to myself until there were tears in my eyes.
Lauren and Mason are just sass. The whole damn time. Holy moly these two just bounce off of each other and roll with it. From the online ad causing them to meet, the whole thing is out of theirs hands from the start, and the fact that they roll with the punches and actually enjoy each others time is really awesome.
But then things start to get weirder and weirder, and oh my gosh, this book is just pure gold. As they become friends and get to know each other with their fake girlfriend ruse, lord almighty do the antics come out. From Mason’s hilarious family to Lauren’s asshole cat Henry, I just enjoyed every damned second of this book and was truly happy as I was reading it. It just makes you smile and lifts you up.
There is also no miscommunication or angst in this which is a really nice breath of fresh air. The whole thing is just fun, fun, fun. A true rom-com, and one that’s guaranteed to leave you in stitches. I highly recommend The Accidental Girlfriend and can’t wait to see what comes next from Emma.
THE ACCIDENTAL GIRLFRIEND by Emma Hart is Mason and Lauren’s story. Lauren isn’t looking for a relationship and is happy with her life the way it is but her family and friends keep harping on her to find “Mister Right”.
One night, Lauren and her girlfriends end up putting up a fake girlfriend ad online never thinking in a million years anyone would answer it but yes, the ad was answered. It wasn’t answered by Mason himself but by his sister. Her brother isn’t looking for a relationship for he’s been burned really bad in the past and isn’t ready to get back out there- ever. Mason has a 10 year high school reunion coming up and he needs a date…actually he needs a “fake girlfriend ” . Which is where Mason’s sister comes into the picture who answers Lauren’s “ad”.
Without giving much more info away, the chemistry between Lauren and Mason is amazing. The connection is sizzling hot. As always, Ms. Hart is the Queen of Romcom. She has written a Fake Girlfriend to Real … story extremely well where the characters came across as believable and the romance as sweet and beautiful, funny and swoon-worthy. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read this author’s next book.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
Hilarious! This book was exactly what my soul and brain needed right now as I found myself laughing out loud at so many points. Truly the characters were well written and had such great banter, sarcasm, wit and then slipped in with some feels for me. The book had a great pace to it that was smooth and made the read go quickly.
The only thing missing while reading this book for me was a beach towel and a beach while I read
Mason doesn’t mind taking a sneaky peek, “I don’t know,” I said. “My stunning personality? My quick wit? How great this dress makes my boobs look?” His eyes drifted down to my chest. “Hey. Up here.”I snapped my fingers.” Mason’s Grandpa made this book, “is she hot?” Grandpa repeated, ignoring their bickering. “I don’t blame you keeping her secret if she’s hot. I’m a bit of a stud. Are you worried she’ll run off with me instead?” Mason isn’t stupid, the man knows when to act, “and it’s only happening once. I won’t offer again. This is literally your only chance to get you some of—” He cut me off with a swift kiss, yanking me against his body roughly…” I loved this book, and I adored Mason and Lauren
Another fantastically written rom com from Emma Hart.
Once again we have a hilarious heroine in Lauren and her perfect match in Mason.
I loved everything about this story and once again, she remains my favourite rom com author! !<3
THE ACCIDENTAL GIRLFRIEND by Emma Hart is the story of Mason and Lauren.
Mason has been single for several months after finding out about his girlfriend’s cheating. Now his 10 year high school reunion is coming up. Mason’s family feels that he needs to get back in the dating world which prompts his sister to answer a add for a fake girlfriend. Lauren is a fun loving no filters kind of girl which after her friends prompting she puts a ad for a fake girlfriend. This is how Mason and Lauren end up in a fake relationship that doesn’t seem to end…but their feelings are engaged now so maybe that’s a good thing!
Funny and easy read… really enjoyed it.
Overall Rating:
“I had feelings for Mason Jackson. Very real feelings. There. The truth was out there.”
“Accidentally kissing Lauren Green? That rattled me.”
These two lines sum up Emma Hart’s newest book, The Accidental Girlfriend. This is a romantic comedy about two commitment-phobic, single-life loving, people who, much to their chagrin, fall for each other. It is funny, frustrating, and farcical. Mason and Lauren are the epitome of everything right and wrong about romance.
The story follows these two as they meet each unconventionally. Lauren is essentially dared by her friends to place an ad online to find a date. They aren’t interested in her finding a relationship, just a date. So, she does it. She places her information online with the intent to go on one date to appease her friends. Mason’s sister wants him to move past his ex-girlfriend, so she contacts Lauren and arranges for her to accompany Mason to his high school reunion as a way to push back against Mason’s ex. From their meeting, these two connect. Unfortunately, neither of them is interested in a relationship, while everyone around them is. With some further meddling, Mason and Lauren’s feelings grow, and they are left with the decision to fight their initial plans to stay single or find a future with each other.
Here’s the thing about this story. It’s a fun read. Mason and Lauren engage in verbal gymnastics throughout the entire book. Each has something smart to say to the other as they verbally spar each other, and it is a strong set-up for foreplay. They have an initial chemistry that makes the story an easy read.
The Accidental Girlfriend is the perfect beach read. There is no real angst between the two. The potential problem is easily resolved, and this book has a happily-ever-after. Mason and Lauren are lovable characters, albeit Lauren can be a tad frustrating with the stubbornness. Mason’s family members will make you laugh out loud, and Lauren’s friends are no different. This book’s qualities conspire to Make you laugh aloud. If you love a romance that makes you feel good about relationships when it ends, then you should buy this book.
“I don’t owe anyone but you anything. I don’t owe my mother, my sister, my aunt, my grandpa—I don’t owe them a single […] thing where my relationships are concerned. The only person I give a […] about is you. You are the only person I want to convince about us.”
Every time I open up one of Emma Hart’s romantic comedies, I know I’m going to meet a snarky, stubborn, and outspoken heroine who more than gives those around her a run for their money, and I also prepare myself for the humorous, awkward, and out there situations that will have me cracking up at the characters’ antics and the trouble they seem to find themselves in due to either a more than tipsy quick decision or an encounter that sends them spiraling into self-created chaos.
Lauren is very much like Hart’s other feisty and intelligent heroines, but Lauren also has her own unique characteristics that are developed as her and Mason’s story continues. Her filter is non-existent, especially when she’s with her girlfriends, and there’s a fierceness to her that usually comes out when someone messes with her or those she loves.
I definitely think Lauren met her match with Mason because his quick wit and comebacks are on part with Lauren’s and that’s exactly what Lauren needs in her life – someone to put her in her place and set her straight when she gets a bit out of control/unhinged.
Lauren and Mason’s chemistry is there from their very first encounter and regardless of the fact that Mason agrees to a fake relationship with Lauren to appease his sister and mother, they fit into each other’s lives easily and have more in common than they ever thought possible.
Mason’s eccentric and hilarious relatives make fantastic secondary characters and they keep Mason and Lauren on their toes throughout the entire story, pushing them to give into what they’re feeling toward one another and make what started out as something fake more than a reality.
There are a lot of fake relationship romance stories out there, but because Emma Hart puts her own spin on the original story line by creating hilarious and relatable heroines, laugh out loud situations, and a set of secondary characters who add their own comical one-liners and have personalities that make them stand out in their own right, it’s easy to understand why so many readers call her the queen of the romcoms!
4 Poison Apples
Hilarious and crazy.
One thing I can bet on is that every book by EH is going to make me laugh out loud. And shaKe my head in bewilderment. And smile non-stop at the overall craziness of the characters, the plot and the snark remarks.
I love each and every one of her books.
The AG will make you happy for a few good hours. And that’s priceless.
Lauren and Mason meet on the most surreal cirumstances ever. She puts up an ad due to very twisted reasons to offer her free services as a fake date, and he accepts to appease family members and get back at a certain character who is a pain in his neck. From there, the story becomes a fanfare of sweet chemistry, wild family gatherings, dialogues spiced with outrageous humour and sarcasm and teasing, and a couple that’s faking for show but is actually hitting it off through the roof.
I enjoyed myself so much that I want everyone to experience the same. This story is rom-com with extra weight on the com, though the romance is still there with tiny sparks that explode in earnest after chapters in double POV filled with a brazen, shameless woman and a hot, patient man falling in love against their plans in the middle of a family circus and a mean cat. I loved the cat, and the crazy texting.
If you’re looking for tongue-in-cheek fun, this is it.
Lauren just wanted a girls night but after drinking the girls decide she needs help finding a man. They put up an ad to get her a fake date. Mason is getting over his ex cheating on him so he isn’t looking to date. His sister has other ideas when she sees Lauren’s ad and wants her to go to Mason’s reunion. Will Lauren agree to date? Will Mason go along with it?
Emma Hart had truly outdone herself with The Accidental Girlfriend! I was smitten with Lauren and Mason’s “fake relationship” story and laughed out loud throughout the entire book! Their chemistry was fantastic, the banter between the two was probably the best I’ve EVER read and I completely fell in love. Lauren was a ball-busting, hilarious character and totally kept Mason on his toes. Mason was fun, sexy and a perfect “fake” boyfriend. This fake romance was anything but from the moment these two got together. I loved how this entire story played out and this is definitely a book I will be going back to reread again!
***5 ‘Hard Work’ Stars***
I snort/laughed my way through the majority of this book.
I tried not too, but I did.
These characters, ALL of them, from Mason & Lauren down to Cara & Henry were so unique that I was all kinds of happy to just sit back and take all of the crazy in and was quite sad when I had to say goodbye.
I adored Mason and Lauren. ADORED. Mason is a really good man. Laid back (because he has no choice considering his family) charming (again, because of his family) and is simply comfortable in his own skin. Lauren is a force to be reckoned with. This woman owns everything that she is: the good, the bad, the loving, the snarky and the lack of edit button. She is definitely someone I’d want to be BFF’s with.
As for their journey to their HEA, it was a lot of fun. Low, very low, on drama and angst and high of humor and heart, from the moment Mason and Lauren met it was obvious they were perfect for each other. They simply flowed so well together it was fun to sit back and watch as they fought against their growing attraction and feelings for each other and failed magnificently at it.
The Accidental Girlfriend is firmly situated next to Four Day Fling as a top fav. This baby hit all my romcom buttons and then some. The characters in this one were all well written and just so much fun that I can’t even pick a favorite, that’s how much I loved and enjoyed them all. And I’m crossing my toes that we’ll see some of them again because there are a few that definitely deserve HEA’s of their own!

This was the most fun story that was easy to read and witty, with characters that make you smile!
Unconventional way to meet fake dates definitely, what happens when feelings come into play, or do they?
I really loved the way both Mason and Lauren were! They are characters you would want as friends, caring but also a hoot and who doesn’t want friends like that!
There is also Mason’s family, they are brilliant and so entertaining and their antics, oh boy, hilarious!!! Dont get me started on Lauren’s cat either, too flipping funny!
This is the absolute best romantic comedy that would make a fantastic movie. Get your 1 click finger ready!!!

If there’s one thing Emma Hart knows, it’s romantic comedy! The Accidental Girlfriend was a fun, hilarious, and highly entertaining standalone romantic comedy that I would definitely recommend! The storyline and characters were fantastic, and I loved Emma Hart’s writing style and brilliant sense of humor. I just live for stories like The Accidental Girlfriend. The kind of story that just cracks you up. The kind of story where the chemistry and steam just oozes off the page. The kind of story that just has you living for those will they/won’t they moments. The Accidental Girlfriend had it all and then some.
From the moment I picked up The Accidental Girlfriend, I was hooked. Lauren is the kind of girl that is just so cool, so calm, so comfortable with herself. She’s the kind of girl that is loyal to her friends and has zero filter. So, when her friends talk her into placing a fake girlfriend ad, I just knew it was going to lead to something epic. And I was not disappointed. Mason was exactly what Lauren was missing from her life. He got her humor and loved to rile her up. Their connection was off the charts and had a ton of amazing potential. I was glued to the pages of their story and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
I honestly just love fake relationship stories. I mean, you have a pretty good idea of how they’re going to play out, but there is just something about Emma Hart’s books that make me feel like I’ve never experienced this type of story before. I love the feeling her books give me. The feeling of laughing so much that tears come out of my eyes. The feeling of having my heart tugged at when you hit the climax of a fake relationship story. I live and breath for these moments and Emma Hart never lets me down. The Accidental Girlfriend made me laugh, made me swoon, and made me fall head over heels in love.
The Accidental Girlfriend was such a fun story. I couldn’t get enough of Mason and Lauren together. Their banter cracked me up and had me begging for more. The sexual tension was off the charts and the story incredibly well written. I loved the heck out of The Accidental Girlfriend. It was a fabulous read from beginning to end and was the perfect read to spend my day getting lost in.

This latest offering from Emma Hart is a truly entertaining read. Full of witty banter and sarcastic jibes with a lot of attitude you will totally enjoy this one.
Lauren Green a bartender has been single for a while and her friends are dying for her to get some action. With her demanding and dramatic family, she thinks she has more than enough on her plate and is happy to spend her evenings quietly watching TV and keeping her cat, Henry, company. One drunken night with the girls managed to convince her to put out an ad as a fake girlfriend. Surprise, surprise! When she meets Mason, things get more interesting.
After his girlfriend of six years cheated on him, Mason Jackson is quite happy to remain single for a long time until his meddling sister answered Lauren’s ad and got him a fake girlfriend for his school reunion. It started as a fake date but he finds himself having some real feelings on Lauren.
Told from dual points of view, this light-hearted romance is full of funny quips and humorous banter; it is packed with quirky, witty and hilarious characters. There is no dull moment with Lauren and every line she utters will either make you giggle or laugh out loud. I love her strong persona, ballsy attitude and oozing confidence, girl power to the max!
Mason is the perfect match for Lauren even though he was a bit emotionally disconnected at first, but her charming and feisty ways won him in the end. It’s not only Mason and Lauren who provides the laughter in this book; Henry the cat, is a hoot and Mason’s family members are an odd bunch of people but somewhat lovable. It is a wild and wonderful world when you join in on the Jackson family get-togethers. I would have preferred to have a strong antagonist to give this book more bite as Mason’s ex-girlfriend hardly makes a dent on the story but all in all, their love story will keep you in stitches. This romcom is a sure winner.
