TOP TIP: Don’t put out an online ad offering your services as a fake date. Someone will take you up on it.And it won’t just be for one night. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I ended up being Mason Jackson’s fake girlfriend. He didn’t even want me to be. No—his sister was solely responsible for me being his date for his ten-year high school reunion. Now, she’s responsible for telling his … responsible for telling his parents our relationship is real.
We have no choice. We have to act like this isn’t all a mistake, like it’s not all fake, like we’re totally, completely, utterly, head-over-heels in love with each other.
Simple, right?
Wrong.

It’s taken me some time to write this review as during my reading of this book, my beloved friend passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. I stopped reading this book, as I fell into a severe depression. But just a few days ago, right after her funeral, I picked up my kindle – needing something to occupy my time and saw that I had not finished this book and decided to re-read it from the beginning. It helped break me out of my funk of not wanting to read, laugh, or enjoy anything with messages of hope and love again. Thank you Emma Hart for giving me back my joy of reading!
I was engrossed with Lauren and Mason’s pseudo fake relationship; It had me laughing out loud several times throughout the book. What was plausible from the beginning that this relationship would quickly turn the tides was the immediate, and sizzling chemistry/attraction that lept off the pages. It was wonderful to witness firsthand – as you could literal feel it – and of course who doesn’t love good banter, the giving and receiving? They two gave as good as they got! Is it any wonder then went from fake to real in 2.9 seconds? This fake romance was anything but, it just took a while for Lauren and Mason to get with the program.
This book is a definite must read and as I can attest to, it can be re-read again and again.
The Accidental Girlfriend may just be my favorite Emma Hart book to date! I laughed so hard while reading this one. Emma has a certain flair when it comes to comedies and the things she comes up with a priceless! I can’t remember the last time a book made me giggle as much as this one and I really needed it after all the heavy books I have been reading lately. If you are looking for alighthearted romcom that will have you laughing out loud the whole way through then I recommend The Accidental Girlfriend to you. Emma Hart dazzled me with this one!
The Accidental Girlfriend is not only a hilarious romcom. It’s also a book about a fake relationship , family ties, and finding love in the most unexpected ways! At the urging of her friends, Lauren places an ad online to be a fake girlfriend to those in desperate need of one. It’s supposed to be only a one time thing to get her friends and family off her back about dating. But for some reason, she can’t seem to shake the guy who she casually went out with. Is it because she was able to finally find a man who can take her crazy antics and sense of humor?
Mason doesn’t need a date to his reunion but his sister is adamant he take a date anyway. Hence the reason she responds to an ad online for him. You see, he hasn’t dated in months because his ex girlfriend was found cheating on him with her boss and she (along with her family) thinks he needs to get back out there. So he decides to do it despite his feelings towards dating in general.
When the two finally meet shit hits the fan and shenanigans ensue! You are not going to wanna miss these two as they navigate “fake dating” and the possibility of it turning to real dating! You will laugh out loud, smile, and fall in love with these two. Emma even sets up the end of this book in a way that gives us a little idea of what her next novel with bring. To say I’m excited would be an understatement- I can’t freakin WAIT!
Read this one. It’s a whole lot of fun!

Actual rating 4-4.5 Stars!
A super fun rom-com by Emma Hart, The Accidental Girlfriend is delightfully charming, witty, romantic and heartwarming. It’s the perfect summer beach read that made me swoon and had me laughing out loud at times.
What a delicious treat! This book had me flipping through the pages and I devoured all its yummy swoony goodness in less than 24 hours! Fake relationship tropes are just the best and as predictable as they are, they’re sometimes surprising, incredibly entertaining, and so darn addictive. I absolutely enjoy reading these type of romances and The Accidental Girlfriend is no exception and I enjoyed every moment.
Emma Hart’s writing style is fantastic and flows really well. With an engaging and amusing plot, the story moves along quite fast that I didn’t even notice when I was almost done reading. I guess I was just having too much fun swooning, smiling, and laughing. This book also has the perfect mixture of humor, snark, sexual tension and the feels that I love so much. Everything in this story just made me feel warmth and joy, and with fabulous ending that melted my heart, it’s quite impossible not to fall head over heels in love with this book.
Lauren and Mason are so darn adorable, hilarious, and just so great together. Lauren is the kind of woman I’d want to be friends with and I think her amazing personality is infectious. She’s feisty, vivacious, funny, and confident. I liked that she’s unapologetically comfortable with herself and says whatever is on her mind. I thought Lauren’s honesty is absolutely refreshing and her not having any filter is pretty funny. But aside from those awesome qualities, she’s also really sweet, caring, and loves with all her heart. Mason is such a sweetheart. He has a similar sense of humor as Lauren so he’s definitely the perfect match for her. Mason also seems to understand her, accepts who she is, and has fun riling her up. Together, their chemistry is off-the-charts and I just could not get enough. From their playful bantering, flirty texts, and steamy moments…I loved them all!
The supporting character are great and I really liked them. Lauren’s best friends and sister are blatantly honest like her so their interactions and dialogues are hilarious and so much fun. I loved Mason’s family. They’re weird, but so charming and funny. Emma created such lovable and wildly entertaining characters that made me laugh and I truly adored them all.
The Accidental Girlfriend is packed with so much humor and heart. I had a blast reading this book and could not get enough of Mason and Lauren and the wonderfully charming cast! Emma Hart penned an satisfyingly entertaining, hilarious, romantic, and heartfelt story that will definitely leave readers begging for more. It’s funny, realistic, sweet and swoony and I absolutely recommend you add this rom-com on your Summer TBR list.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author via Social Butterfly PR in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was craving for something light, low-drama, hilarious after several heavier books and The Accidental Girlfriend came at the perfect time. I laughed so much and got lost in the mirthful fake relationship between the commitment-phobic Lauren and Mason. Their connection and sparks were off the charts. Their banter and sarcastic come-back were hilarious and I wish I can be as fast-witted as them. It was funny and sweet to see that they were falling in love with each other before they realized what they were doing. Mason’s crazy family and Lauren’s whacky friends added so much entertainment to the story too. I totally enjoyed this easy and uproarious rom-com and would highly recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Five “fake” stars for this romantic comedy!!!
This is the first book I’ve read by Emma Hart and I’ve really, really loved it!
The storyline, the dialogues and the characters ahh, everything was such perfect…
Lauren became one of my favorite female’s characters. She is confident and she’ll tell you everything that she thinks no matter will you like that or not.
She remains me a little of me .
I absolutely in love with her and Madson dialogues and their slow burn relationship.
I’ve enjoyed in every page of this book because I couldn’t stop laughing from beginning to the end of the book.
I can’t wait to read more books by Emma Hart !
Highly recommended!!!
Emma Hart always delivers books that make me smile, and The Accidental Girlfriend was one of those.
This book was so much fun to read, a trademark of Mrs Hart.
Lauren & Mason was that couple who met by fate, their feelings are so beautiful and together there so funny and corky.
This book made my tummy hurt of laughter so much and swooned at the same time.
Lauren is the sweetest darling; I wish I had a best friend like her, she is true to her feelings, funny, positive and Mason is her right match.
I fell in love with this couple, and I couldn’t stop reading until the end.
Emma Hart’s book always brings a positive vibe to my dark days and a smile to my face.
All the stars.
Another wonderful witty and fun read from Emma Hart. I loved Lauren and her one liners. Emma never disappoints with the creative one liners and banter she creates between her characters. Mason was just as enjoyable as he was sexy and him and Lauren seemed to be a perfect fit.
If you are in need of a wonder romantic comedy check this book out
THE ACCIDENTAL GIRLFRIEND is typical Emma Hart, through and through. Smart, snarky, sassy heroine that doesn’t give a hoot about what others think of her, an equally sassy posse of girlfriends that usually have her back, a male lead that is comfortable with himself and is happily single, and family members that refuse to mind their own business, and are absolute gold because of the laughs that they bring. These are the very things that keep me coming back to Emma’s books, and this one did not disappoint.
Lauren and Mason may start out as a faux couple, but their chemistry is real from the get-go. And with her interfering friends, and his interfering family, there is no way in the world that these two can go their separate ways. And, although the build-up is a bit slow, since, you know, neither or them is “looking for a relationship,” we know that Emma will work her magic and get them to exactly where they need to be.
Emma has really hit her stride with her romantic comedies. They are always extremely readable, entertaining, and filled with plenty of humor, romance, and fantastic characters. THE ACCIDENTAL GIRLFRIEND ranks right up there with the best of them, and is a must-read for Emma’s fans and anyone that appreciates a good romantic comedy with a generous serving of sass and steam.
This book was probably one of the funniest books I have read form this author. The back and forth between not only the main characters but also their friends and family had me laughing out loud.
I am pretty sure Lauren is my spirit animal. She is so me but just funnier. I absolutely loved her. She may be snarky, sarcastic and a pain in the butt but she is also thoughtful, loyal, loving and a great person. I really enjoyed every second of her story with Mason.
Mason was everything Lauren needed and she had no clue. Fate has a funny way of putting the people you need in your path in some what shape or form. Mason could take as well as he gave when it came to snarky remarks. He has a crazy family that just embraced Lauren. I loved that Mason wasn’t a push over but also didn’t pretend to be this macho man either. Once he realized what he wanted, he was willing to go for it.
This was such a light and funny story. I love this author’s writing and can’t wait for her next book.
This was my first book by Emma Hart and I had a good time with it. It was chock full of fun banter and had some very colorful characters, but I did feel that it was missing a bit of the emotion underneath all the laughs to keep me fully engaged.
There was no shortage of laughter that Lauren and Mason could bring. From their text messages to their verbal sparring matches, these two had me laughing out loud and looking forward to their next exchange. You could definitely feel the chemistry between these two, but as much as I loved both Mason and Lauren, I had a hard time connecting with Lauren’s character emotionally. Mason was easy – he quickly realizes that he may be in deeper than he anticipated with his fake girlfriend, and I think getting to know his story and meet his ex made it easy to understand where he was coming from. With Lauren, it’s not until the very end we get to fully see underneath the snark and sass, and I wish there were more glimpses of that earlier and more often in the story.
I did enjoy the other characters in the book. Lauren’s sister and BFFs were a hoot and I loved Mason’s best friend Trevor. Mason’s family was quite….unique….and I can only imagine spending a family get-together with them!
Overall, this was a fun read that was well written. It read quickly, wasn’t too angsty, and has me looking forward to reading more from the author.
“ All we had to do was keep our distance. I had a feeling that would be a lot harder for me than it was for Lauren. She was controlled, and I … was not.”
When I started reading The Accidental Girlfriend, I had just made myself a cuppa and was sitting comfortably on my sofa- Perfect setting. Then I started reading and BOOM, the very first sentence of chapter one made me laugh so hard that I sprayed my tea all over my kindle!
The story is about Lauren and Mason and “their fake relationship.”
Mason was exactly what Lauren was missing from her life. The dialogue, the banter , the dual POV and texts- YES the texts LOL- made me laugh so many times to even keep count.
I found Mason “ BOB THE BUILDER” LOL so endearing and I love how he was when he was Lauren- he was caring but also given it back. He is 28 years old and his mum… still buys him shirts 😉
Emma Hart is definitely the Queen of Rom-com and she always manages to make you feel good, happy and put a big smile on your face with her words.
I hated Claudia! I loved Henry the cat!
“ Have you ever had a cat sit on your head and fart?” I can’t say that’s something I’ve ever experienced , no. She nodded. “ I wouldn’t recommend it”
If you want a book that will have you laughing out loud and saying OMG then this book is for you.
It’s unique, funny and wonderful.
Get ready for a laugh your ass off story by Emma Hart that will hurt your jaw from laughing so much. I loved that Lauren is not your typical girl but one that is independent, strong and a take charge kinda girl. Now Mason have to say at times can seem weak but only when it comes to family. Emma Hart is a genius when it came to the family so hillarious loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”

Way to go Emma, you did it again. Another awesome read from you. Mason and Lauren were perfect. It’s like each book you release, they get funnier than the last and then when I think you can’t get funnier…boom you do it again.
Another must read from Emma Hart!
When Lauren’s friends convince her (thanks to a bit too much alcohol) to place a fake girlfriend ad online, the consequences are ones she never could have imagined.
Mason has no need to bring a fake girlfriend to his reunion to throw in his ex’s face. But thanks to his meddling little sister, it appears he’s bringing one, whether he wants to or not. But when he meets Lauren, he’s definitely not unhappy his sister roped him into it because Lauren is drop dead gorgeous and hilarious with a no filter-mouth.
“The woman was a distraction. A fucking hilarious, beautiful distraction.”
The Accidental Girlfriend is snarky, LOL fun with so much tension oozing out of my Kindle that I almost could not handle it. I haven’t laughed quite so hard in a long time, between Lauren’s head-sitting cat named Henry, to her no filter mouth, down to Mason’s crazy Grandpa and Great-Aunt. What a hoot! Add in the super sexy chemistry that Lauren and Mason had, and The Accidental Girlfriend is one fabulous romantic comedy. I can’t wait for Halley’s story next!
This book is everything that I needed right now. Life is hard right now and it sucks. This story took me away, even if just for a little bit. I smiled and laughed when I didn’t think that I could. I have and. Hart to thank for that. The Accidental Girlfriend is HILARIOUS! I don’t know that I’ve laughed this much reading in a long time. The heroine is unapologetically sarcastic. She has no filter and doesn’t hold back. That’s what makes her perfect though. The hero is Thor-like. That’s all I took away from his description. What more do you need though? What started out as a fake date slowly started to feel like more … so how do they fight their feelings and keep from crossing their fake relationship lines? Do me a solid and just read it to find out for yourself. You’ll love this book!
Perfect Summer read
This is a laugh out loud, light and funny Summer book. It is a perfect beach or day by the pool read.
Mason and Lauren are endearing and the book will make your day. One-click today.
So, I pretty much love all things that I have read by Emma Hart, and I knew I’d have to read this one as soon as I heard about it. It started out a little iffy for me, because while I get why Mason’s sister signed him up for a fake girlfriend, the whole reasoning behind Lauren advertising to do it was a little iffy on actually making sense to me. But that’s okay, because in the end, the whole deal turned out to be as hilarious as Hart’s other books have been. Once again the banter and fun of the characters interactions made this a read that I sped through. This was a very simple story compared to the others that I’ve read. Just basically the fake girlfriend romance you expected. It was pretty predictable, which made it a nice easy summer read. I did enjoy how once again the author weaves the hilariousness of elderly relatives into the family dynamics of her stories. While this isn’t going to go on the top of my list of Emma Hart books, it was a good one.
Omg I absolutely loved this story. The whole fake relationship leading to feelings was awesome. You can’t have an Emma book without having some comedic relief. We get some awesome secondary characters. The best is the banter between Lauren and Mason. In my belief i think that their back and forth helps this story and made it more entertaining. I want a Mason for myself! Definitely a 5 star read!
Emma has a way with words that never ceases to amaze me and suck me in like no other.
Lauren and Mason had me laughing almost the whole book. Their wit was like no other and just hit the point that while reading I got man funny looks because of how many times I laughed out loud. Lauren and Mason had chemistry from the beginning, even though neither of them wanted to admit it.
Lauren is a very independent women that has a hard exterior but is truly a softy at heart. Her wit is like no other and this makes her very humorous. Mason is your typical hot, builder. The only thing is he has a wit and humor that matches Lauren. Mason has also been hurt in the past and swore off of relationships.
Their relationship starts as a fake one but will it turn real? Will their true feelings win and they take a chance?
4.5 Stars
The Accidental Girlfriend is Emma Hart’s latest stand-alone rom-com. OMG you guys-it was hilarious! I don’t know what it is but there is something about Ms. Hart’s witty and sarcastic banter that has me laughing out loud every single time. The Accidental Girlfriend was no different.
I adored Mason and Lauren from the get-go. Neither were looking for anything permanent whatsoever. So when Lauren puts an ad out for a fake girlfriend, she wasn’t expecting any response. What could possibly go wrong with one date…
I loved this book so much! The chemistry between the main characters was hot as hell and the hilariousness from the start of the book all the way to the end was exactly what I needed. I swear my face hurt from smiling so much. Even with all the laugh out loud moments, the storyline was excellent and the writing was phenomenal. Ms. Hart continues to prove that she is the queen of romantic comedies and I am so looking forward to reading her next! Highly recommend reading this book!
