In this charming romantic comedy perfect for fans of Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella, critically acclaimed author Teri Wilson shows us that sometimes being pushed out of your comfort zone leads you to the ultimate prize. Charlotte Gorman loves her job as an elementary school librarian, and is content to experience life through the pages of her books. Which couldn’t be more opposite from her … opposite from her identical twin sister. Ginny, an Instagram-famous beauty pageant contestant, has been chasing a crown since she was old enough to enunciate the words world peace, and she’s not giving up until she gets the title of Miss American Treasure. And Ginny’s refusing to do it alone this time.
She drags Charlotte to the pageant as a good luck charm, but the winning plan quickly goes awry when Ginny has a terrible, face-altering allergic reaction the night before the pageant, and Charlotte suddenly finds herself in a switcheroo the twins haven’t successfully pulled off in decades.
Woefully unprepared for the glittery world of hair extensions, false eyelashes, and push-up bras, Charlotte is mortified at every unstable step in her sky-high stilettos. But as she discovers there’s more to her fellow contestants than just wanting a sparkly crown, Charlotte realizes she has a whole new motivation for winning.

An airy, frothy book, lots of fun. Loved it
The Accidental Beauty Queen effortlessly delivers on all of the charm and emotion you hope for in a romantic comedy. Utterly enchanting.
In the style of Sophie Kinsella, Teri Wilson had me laughing and crying with THE ACCIDENTAL BEAUTY QUEEN. It was Parent Trap meets Pageant Life, a story full of sisterhood, love, and trying to do the right thing. If you judge books buy their covers, then this charming cover is a great start to what is gold in its pages. Enjoy!
A quick read perfect for a brain candy day. Lucky for me, it was that kind of day for me and exactly what I needed. It’ll de-stress you in a minute. Loved it!!
The Accidental Beauty Queen is charming, fun, and incredibly entertaining. Teri is a master with dialogue and cute meets and this story more than delivered. If you adore rom-coms, you won’t want to miss this one. A perfect escape from everyday!
This was such a cute book and a quick, easy read! I really fell for Charlotte’s character and her struggles in the shadow of her Pageant Queen identical twin sister. And goodness Gray was a wonderful addition to the story!
This read had laughs, deep emotion, flawed characters and a ton of awesome pop culture references. I enjoyed this Miss Congeniality meets Parent Trap book from cover to cover!
Loved this book! Teri Wilson is my go-to for bookish rom-coms, and I think this one might be my favorite of hers so far. I busted out laughing so many times while reading that my family thought I was losing it. If you’re a fan of the movie Miss Congeniality (which is a great flick, btw!), you will love this super fun, put-a-smile-on-your-face, romance and journey of self-discovery.
An absolute must-read for fans of Miss Congeniality. Can the bibliophile twin of a beauty queen walk a mile in her platform stilettos & pull off a twin-swap at a national pageant? So charming!
Although predictable in its outcome the twin characters evolved so that Charlotte recognized that there was more to her beauty pageant-obsessed sister than hairspray and high heels, and Ginny proved to be a person with more depth and understanding than an instagram model and runway queen.
The perfect recipe for a feel-good read: Mix one part Mr. Darcy, one part sisterhood, one bulldog named Buttercup and add a hefty sprinkle of glitter. I laughed, cried, and swooned and even felt better in a bikini after reading it.
What a delightful book is The Accidental Beauty Queen. After reading a few darker books recently, this was exactly what I needed in my life.
It is a little bit Miss Congeniality mixed with The Parent Trap, twins switching places and the like.
Charlotte and Ginny are identical in looks, complete opposites in personalities.
At times, Ginny did annoy me with her self centredness, however as the story progressed, I liked how she changed, and how her actions also caused Charlotte to change.
What I also really liked is that even though they are all pageant queens, there was no bitchy mean girls. There wasn’t a queen that I didn’t like in this one.
Light, romantic, fluffy – The Accidental Beauty Queen made me laugh and smile.
I can’t wait to see what Ms Wilson brings us next. In the mean time, I am off to watch Miss Congeniality – again!
Could The Accidental Beauty Queen have been any better? I was entranced from the beginning, from the book nerd to the beauty queen sister I just knew I was going to love this romantic comedy. I cried, I laughed and I swooned!
The Accidental Beauty Queen was so much more than a romance novel, it had heart and passion and lies, love and humor. I had numerous Sandra Bullock, Miss Congeniality flashbacks and I just simply loved it. I loved watching Charlotte grow, from being narrow minded about the contestants to actually getting to know them. There is just something about character growth that makes me so happy.
From the time that she, eventually almost selfishly, swapped places with her twin (which I love so much) to the when everything blew up in an epic way, I couldn’t put The Accidental Beauty Queen down. I loved how real the sisters were that even when you are angry and upset with them you would still do anything for them so that they wouldn’t suffer.
Not only was the story great, but it’s a clean romance, and that was so refreshing. I really loved that I got a break from the constant sex of so many romance novels these days, but I was still able to feel the love and connection between the leading couple. AND their french bulldogs!
If you are looking for a fun, flirty, light-hearted read that still has the power to make you cry, you don’t need to look any further than The Accidental Beauty Queen.
A fun rom-com with an interesting twin story! One twin’s a beauty queen – one’s a Harry Potter nerd. The old switcheroo story gets a fun twist with the handsome guy from the hotel hallway…just a great weekend read.
I was looking for a happy story to distract me from the news and the WWII book I was reading. This is a hit! Fun, well told story, good suspense – not completely predictable – you kinda figured out how it would go, but it didn’t exactly. Held my attention. I enjoyed it. I liked that the contestants were team players.
Just a fun, quick read, very enjoyable
The things you do for family!!! Ths was a great story about a twin feeling lost in the shadow of her twin and feeling very unappreciated. Despite all of this, her love for her sister has her agreeing to step in and help when needed. Things were further complicated when she falls in love. And now…all of this has to be set to rights without getting her heart broken. A great read about love and family.
I thought The Accidental Beauty Queen was a fun rom-com that also had a great focus on learning to accept oneself as is. Identical twins Charlotte and Ginny were so relatable and I loved them being able to work through old wounds. I especially loved all the Harry Potter and literary references. The cute dog also didn’t hurt the story lol. The audio was well done!
I think I have found another author who can take a know-what-is-going-to-happen book and keep me turning the pages!
Accidental Beauty Queen is a story of two identical twin sisters who have to literally take a walk in the others’ shoes. The overall storyline was expected and laid out in the blurb, but there is a surprising take on everything that gives the story life. There were laughs and there were tears. I related to the main character on many levels. I appreciated how she had to face her own tendencies to typecast. I also felt like the “switcheroo” was believable which is often not the case in stories where characters trade places.
Great book beginning to end. It helped that I had just come off an Orlando Trip to Universal Studios where I did my own share of geeking out at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
I will read more from this author!
Favorite quote: “Last week I was shelving picture books. Now I have more lives than I can keep up with!”
This book was completely adorable from start to finish. Twin sisters – one a beauty queen and one… well, not a beauty queen. What happens when their roles change? A fun little romp of a book, and I highly recommend it!
Just another book that got me because I judged the cover and found I wanted it. No big deal.
Twins, Charlotte and Ginny, are polar opposites except they’re also identical. Charlotte is mousy and could not care a wit about her appearance. She only goes to her sister’s beauty queen pageant so that she could have the appearance of supporting Ginny while indulging in her literary fun. Ginny has a crazy allergic reaction and, as could be expected, demands that Charlotte take her place as a contestant until she can lose the reaction.
While this is predictable, it’s also really fun. I enjoyed relating to Charlotte (I also don’t particularly care to wear high heels) and her journey to exploring herself through what she previously considered a vapid pursuit. The love story is just too cute.
This is my first book by Teri Wilson but won’t be my last. Sometimes I just need a great romcom. Okay – I take that back – I’m always up for a great romcom.
