Kate Connelly should be careful what she wishes for.Just seventeen, she already feels like she’s suffocating. Since her mother’s death, her father’s basically checked out, so she’s stuck raising her brothers by herself out in the New Mexico scrub. All Kate wants is a little distraction from the same-ole, same-ole that is her life. When two mysterious guys show up at the diner where she works, she … where she works, she thinks her wish has come true, until they start giving her a hard time. Like her life isn’t hard enough. Something about them niggles her, but she brushes it off. She’s never going to see them again anyway . . . right?
Then they appear in an alley one night to either rescue or kidnap her (she’s still not sure which) before disappearing like figments of her imagination.
Kate decides to put the bizarre encounters out of her mind. She has bigger problems to worry about: like that elite military academy that’s been pursuing her gifted little brother. When one of their cadets shows up at Clovis High School, he creates instant pandemonium. And just happens to be one of those mysterious guys. Coincidence? Mama said there’s no such thing. And to always trust her instinct. But that might be kind of hard, because every time she’s around Cadet Peter Davenport, her gut starts flip-flopping on her. And her heart.
Can Kate keep it together long enough to stop Cadet Davenport’s mission? She’s about to find out. And—once again—how neatly life can be split into before and after.

Wow! Did not expect this at all. I couldn’t put it down and am very sad I have to wait for the sequel. Because that ending . . . whoa! Just left me hanging and wanting for more. Definitely a very talented writer.
I was introduced to The Academy Saga book by someone local and I and ate it up. I really enjoyed that it makes you feel invested in the characters and they have SOUL! Following along their journey made me think back to some similar personality types from when I was younger and really had me connecting with them, which is why I love reading 🙂
Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down, I was immediately captivated by the characters. The story is so well written and sucks you in. I cant wait to read the next book!
I truly loved this book! I almost never give out 5 stars, but this was well-deserved. Maybe because it was a new author and I wasn’t expecting much, so was bowled over by how good it actually was. Definitely worth you while and definitely looking forward to the sequel!
I really got sucked into this. Absolutely love the characters, even Ashley-Leigh-unexpectedly funny. Ranger has my cautious attention now. Have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of him. But so bummed there’s no book 2 yet. Does anyone know when its coming out?
LOVE this book – definitely worth the read. Can’t wait for book #2!
This book was recommended to me and I thought is was going to be all kiddish and too paranormally, but I absolutely loved it! Even though it started slow, it was a great journey and picked up steam until-blast!-that ending left me speechless. Definitely love the Pete and Katie characters and intrigued with Ranger. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
The Academy Saga by CJ Daly is a very interesting story. The Author CJ Daly writes creatively and beautifully, in a unique way with words, an economy that creates focus and enhances the reading experience to the readers like me.
I can’t say enough how much I love this book. I can honestly say this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Something just drew me in from the start.
Kate, a teenage girl, takes care of her younger brothers, Andrew & Mikey, while her dad is useless since her mom died. They have a very meager home in the middle of nowhere, leaving all the work on the farm & home to Kate. Cadet Pete Davenport drops into her life, after a rocky introduction with his fellow “friend,” Ranger. Pete is there to recruit Andrew into his “elite academy,” that she doesn’t feel good about. She battles her heart & gut with not trusting Pete & his academy, but also having a hard time resisting his charm. The jaw-dropping end leaves you hanging. Seriously, I need to find CJ Daly now to get my hands on more of #theacademysaga.
As I tried to lift myself out of the haze of being a part of their world, like an addiction, I’m completely head over heels #teampete. Some say I may change to #teamranger in Book 2, but I can’t see it, after how much I wanted Pete to come off of the pages & into my life.
Could I just give #theacademy s?
just doesn’t seem enough.
I am reading The Academy Book l and I can’t put it down!! I have so much to do around the house but I keep saying “one more page and I will go”, page after page!! I LOVE it!! And I can’t wait for book ll 🙂
The Academy Saga : A Suspense Romance With a Twist by CJ Daly is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series written by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about contemporary romance and romantic suspense.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was gifted this a gorgeous copy of The Academy: Book 1 by @katerockbooktours and @theacademysaga to read and review. Thank you so much!
Y’all!! I really loved this book! Overall, I give it 5s and am dying to get my hands on Book 2!
I am kinda intimidated by big books… However, the Academy is a 500 page book, and I could not put it down!! There were several little mysteries embedded into the story from the very start. As these slowly began to reveal themselves, I was left with answers that led to more questions and made this book unputdownable
After reading this, I am definitely Team Pete but I will always be Team Kate! She just gives so much, and her family is at the heart of everything she does. If you’re looking for characters to root for, it’s Kate & Pete!
Something I also noticed is that I never felt that a character/scene was just there as a placeholder. Having read a lot of YA where that’s often the case, I think this is a really huge plus for this book!!
It’s also available on Kindle Unlimited! Do you want to know how I know that? Maybe this is a #bookaddict problem…
Even though I have this physical copy at home, I started a free trial of Kindle Unlimited specifically so that I could read this book while I was at work. You know it’s a good story when you can’t even get through a work day without reading it!
Heart pounded with fear
Relatable parts and I was easily immersed into the book’s world
May have been less productive…
Parts had me talking (Shouting) to the pages as though the characters could hear me, and I loved every minute of it

You enjoyed The Hunger Games and The Mazerunner

The Academy Saga by CJ Daly was an awesome read! I just loved Kate Connelly as a character as I felt like I just understood her really well. I loved the blend of mystery, action, and romance that were blended together by the author in such a way to hold me captive in my seat until I finished the book in one sitting! I also liked the family elements of the book with how Kate’s family also played a role in her story.
Fantastic book! Loved the characters and I couldn’t help but feel their pain. The author painted a great picture and brought you fully into the story.

Ugh. Talk about a book hangover.
.
Y’all this book was unputdownable. I read all 500 pages in ONE sitting.
.
There’s something sinister and dystopian feeling about it, even though it takes place in modern society. Though described as paranormal romantic suspense there are only subtle hints of “other” in this book, little promises of what is to come in the next. This one is very much focused on life before ‘The Academy’. The recruitment the resistance, and the romance between the irresistible Cadet Pete and Kate.
.
I’m not even exaggerating when I say I NEED book 2, like yesterday
Wow! I can’t tell you enough good things about this book. I love this world and the characters Kept me entertained for hours and got me out of my reading slump. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
The Perfect Escape!
Off the charts INCREDIBLE!
CJ Daley gives us an UNFORGETTABLE story with characters who are sure to capture your mind AND heart. A wild, emotional, suspenseful, RIDE you will want to take over and over.
I enjoyed The Academy IMMENSELY. I could not turn these pages fast enough. I love that book feeling of being completely immersed into the story, that real life melts away. CJ Daley gives us a readers dream. The fact that there is a book 2, has me over the moon excited! I need more! I can’t wait to dive back into The Academy Saga and this magical journey.
Mama always said…
There is no such thing as coincidence!!!
How true this saying is proven by this book!!
Be careful what you wish for is also the center of this book.
Wishing for something exciting to happen to her, Kate doesn’t know how she feels when that something (or someone) different happens.
Good luck Kate!!!
***I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.***
100% recommend, kept me entertained for a few days of quarantine. You can’t help but love the characters as you follow their story!
Impressive, unbelievable, fantastic. Those would be the adjectives I’d use to describe the second book of this series if words were enough because they aren’t!
I have no doubts that CJ will become a Best-seller author in a blink of an eye because she such a gorgeous writer.
