As someone long ruled by her emotions and how she feels, learning to “do it anyway” even if I don’t “feel like it” is hard. I’m a newbie taking her first steps. I’ll stumble and fall. But I’m going to come back to this book again and again to remind myself one step at a time can still add up to a lot if I just keep going.

Awesome self help book!! Mel Robbins book the 5 Second rule is another take on getting your shit together with many testimonials and great quotes. I saw her last year on ted talks and loved her approach to changing how your brain works and it really interested me so I picked up her book from the library. It was well done and I enjoyed reading how her 5 Second rule had changed so many people’s lives. I will say that I love listening to her live because it isn’t just what she says, it’s her delivery that hooked me. Over all I enjoyed it and recommend reading,but also if you get the chance watch her ted talk or her talk show. I love both. Until next time luv’s
I have implemented many of the strategies in this book. The 5 second rule has become a way of life and helps me in making decision when I am stuck. Once you read this book, you will become a fan. Go Mel!
If you know me, you know I constantly strive for balance with work, family, and play. I also do a lot of negative self talk which leads to eating lots of food from the bakery department and things dipped in chocolate. Its a vicious circle. This books gave me the strategy to get my butt in gear and the permission (because I clearly need it) to give myself breaks.
Mel tells this story like she’s your good friend from New England. You know, the sort of friend that tells you “yeah, you do look fat in those pants” but has your best intentions at heart. That kind of friend would never let you go out with pants too tight and panty lines.

The 5 Second Rule is a great tool for anyone to use to help with self-motivation. The book was fast, not complicated, and I could use the information right away.
Suggestion of the 5 second rule was good but the book went on and on and on to say what was already covered in the first few pages.
I’m glad that I bought this book! It is the best self help book that I have ever read-and I’ve read a lot of them! I have already recommended it to my friends!
Disappointment. Everything you need to know about the 5 Second Rule can, and should have, been written in one, short, paragraph. The rest of the book is various stories of folks who use to live their lives without the 5 Second Rule and now live their much better life with the 5 Second Rule. I hate to give a bad review of a book, this is my first actually, but nearly everything you need to know about the 5 Second Rule is in the title itself. Everything else is a promo. (its a well written promo though…..)
Mel Robbins is so authentic in sharing this life-transforming idea. As she says, “It’s simple, not easy.” However, once you get your 5-second countdown going, you’ll never look back!
