In this #1 New York Times bestseller, the Women’s Murder Club gets ready for a quiet Christmas — until a mysterious killer decides to terrorize the city. As the holidays approach, Detective Lindsay Boxer and her friends in the Women’s Murder Club have much to celebrate. Crime is down. The medical examiner’s office is quiet. Even the courts are showing some Christmas spirit. And the news cycle … courts are showing some Christmas spirit. And the news cycle is so slow that journalist Cindy Thomas is on assignment to tell a story about the true meaning of the season for San Francisco.
Then a fearsome criminal known only as “Loman” seizes control of the headlines. Solving crimes never happens on schedule, but as this criminal mastermind unleashes credible threats by the hour, the month of December is upended for the Women’s Murder Club. Avoiding tragedy is the only holiday miracle they seek.
The days leading up to Christmas are peaceful ones for the ladies of the Women’s Murder Club. They are all looking forward to celebrating the holiday with their loved ones. Unfortunately that doesn’t happen. A few days before Christmas several incidents happen that point to a bigger crime being committed. As arrests are made and dead bodies pile up the ladies find themselves working non-stop. Another excellent book in this series! I couldn’t put it down! Highly recommend!
This book is packed full of action and all of the regular characters from the Women’s Murder Club series. Of course, Lindsey Boxer takes the lead, along with Brady and Conklin. Re-appearing after a forced retirement is Lindsey’s former boss, Jacobi. From the standpoint of a fan of this series, having the whole gang together was great! The action was fast-paced and the chapters were short and attention-keeping. My one problem with the book was that the villain was totally unbelievable. He deals in selling gold chains and somehow masterminds a series of events in NYC that has all of the cops running around on the countdown up to Christmas. Fans of this series will enjoy the antics in the book but will probably be disappointed by the unbelievable simplicity of solving the case.

I love all his books. the inn was great
I’ve read all the Women’s Murder Club books and they are great. I love this series.
Patterson is a favorite
Another intense installment to this long-running series! The 19th Christmas spans over a short time during the holidays, and we get a peak at three of the four members of the Women’s Murder Club, but of course, Detective Lindsay Boxer is our star member. Lindsay and her partner Conklin happen to be at the right place to nab a thief in the act. Interrogation of this thief is just too easy. The reader knows this thief is part of a much larger plot of senseless crimes occurring all over the city designed to overwork and distract the police force to the real crime about to happen. Tensions increase and sleep-deprived law enforcement seem to be spinning their wheels until a tip comes from the most unlikely place. You cannot put the book down because the end of each chapter is a tease to keep you reading into the next chapter. I did have a hard time understanding why the significant others and spouses (especially Lindsay’s husband, Joe) become so mad about the time these cases are taking. This kind of thing is what each spouse/partner knew was a way of life–why are they mad now? The ending was SUPER satisfying.
Great as always!
I enjoyed this book’s storyline. I liked the action in this story. I really liked the Women’s Murder Club scenes. I really liked ending.
The 19th Christmas, #19 in the Women’s Murder Club, by James Patterson. This is a fast paced crime mystery that includes all the ladies—though Cindy is the primary participant. I would like to see more of the three working together—but the story was good. So many criminals–so many leads! It is a good light read that made me more aware of all those who work for the police, fire, EMT’s, etc., and their families, who sacrifice so much of their family time during the holidays due to their jobs. I especially felt for Cindy’s husband and child.
The audio version of this book was so good, the narrator really brought the book to life.
Love the series
Love all of the Women’s Murder Club books! Watching for the next one.
