Detective Lindsay Boxer’s investigation into the disappearance of three teachers escalates from missing persons to murder in this “shocking” Women’s Murder Club thriller (Lisa Gardner, #1 NYT bestselling author). For a trio of colleagues, an innocent night out after class ends in a deadly torture session. They vanish without a clue — until a body turns up. With the safety of San Francisco’s … San Francisco’s entire school system at stake, Lindsay has never been under more pressure. As the chief of police and the press clamor for an arrest in the “school night” case, Lindsay turns to her best friend, investigative journalist Cindy Thomas. Together, Lindsay and Cindy take a new approach to the case, and unexpected facts about the victims leave them stunned.
While Lindsay is engrossed in her investigation, her husband Joe meets an Eastern European woman who claims to have seen a notorious war criminal — long presumed dead — from her home country. Before Lindsay can verify the woman’s statement, Joe’s mystery informant joins the ranks of the missing women. Lindsay, Joe, and the entire Women’s Murder Club must pull together to protect their city and one another — not from a ghost, but from a true monster.

Everything you love about Patterson and the Women’s Murder Club — smart characters, shocking twists, and a villain so evil you count down to the very last page to discover what will happen next.
We get to take a trip to the past in this new installment of the Women’s Murder Club with Lyndsay. A court date is rapidly approaching but for us to understand why this important we must go back about five years to when the crimes actually happened including how it involves our girls. Another intriguing suspenseful mystery that will keep you guessing as the story evolves. Perfect for fans of mystery books. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Another solid Women’s Murder Club entry for James Patterson! Although this novel didn’t really have a lot of the club members in it, it was still an enjoyable and fast-paced read. It kept my attention, and I finished it in just a few hours.
Both Lindsay and Joe are working cases that end up tied to each other. Lindsay is trying to find 3 missing schoolteachers, and Joe is trying to assist a Serbian American bring down an evil man who was responsible for many atrocities in Serbia. Both cases eventually cross each other.
This is a story that is mostly told “5 years earlier”, with the final episode back in current day.
I really enjoyed this novel, and thought it was well done.

A fast, compelling read. Definitely one of the best in this series. Paetro is a great addition!
This entire series by James Patterson is great reading.
Not quite as good as the previous books in this series. Past experiences that had nothing to do with the plot just took up pages. I felt like it was unnecessary.
The Women,s Club books are the only ones I read now by Patterson. He has become too gory in his mysteries & not entertaining
Three teachers have gone missing in San Francisco, and all eyes are on San Francisco police officer Lindsay Boxer as she is leading the hunt for them. Unfortunately, there are few leads. Can she find anything before it is too late? Meanwhile, her new husband, Joe Molinari, has found a woman near the FBI’s San Francisco office. This woman, Anna, claims to have just seen a known war criminal from her native Serbia in the city. Is she right? What is he doing there? Can Joe make sure this man receives the justice he deserves?
Outside the prologue and epilogue, this book takes place five years in the past, meaning that some of the recent stupidity in Joe and Lindsay’s marriage has been forgotten. I couldn’t be happier about that. The story is another fast-paced mystery against overwhelming odds that keep the pages turning. It even gave me something I’ve been wanting for a long time in this series (no spoilers, don’t worry). Unfortunately, most of the Women in the Women’s Murder Club are reduced to cameos as the plot drives forward. The characters continue to be fairly thin, but that’s no surprise to fans. We get into Anna’s past and the war crimes that took place in Serbia, so expect the heavier subject matter when you pick up this book. Overall, fans of the series should be happy with this latest offering.
Not as good as the first 17
Lindsay Boxer fan here!!!’
I really like the Women’s Murder Club books. This was a good one but really brutal. I like the regular characters but the plot was a bit much. Hard to take. I do look forward to reading the next installment.
Great book as all of James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Mystery books are!
Love all the Murder club mysteries!
Love the womens murder club!!!
Latest installment in the Women’s Murder Club series.
This book starts with Lindsay and her husband, Joe, entering a legal proceeding for the ICC at the Hague. A woman named Anna is testifying against a man from her former country. He is appealing charges of war crimes that were put against him. Then, the story goes back 5 years in time.
Lindsay is investigating the disappearance of 3 schoolteachers after the death of a fourth teacher. Joe is on his way home from work one night when he encounters Anna on the side of the street crying. He stops and talks to her and discovers that she thinks she’s seen a man from her former country that did horrible things to people in her town. Joe decides to start investigating.
Most of these books continue in the timeline but this one does not. There is no mention of Julie, their daughter because it mainly takes place before she’s born. Lindsay is also working for Jacobi so Brady isn’t even in the picture yet and both Yuki and Cindy are single.
I loved this book as much as A-W.
This book isn’t about the Women’s Murder Club. It’s about Lindsey Boxer. While I like Lindsey, I am a fan of the club!
The Women’s Murder Club isn’t mentioned at all until page 118, which is the same spot where Yuki enters the story. Cindy has been named a couple of times in the first third of the book. Claire, who is supposedly Lindsey’s best friend, has been mentioned exactly once by the time the club finally has a meeting in chapter 37. Claire is my favorite character in this series. The few times she is involved in this story are simply not enough.
With that said, I enjoyed this book and how the story came together. I hope the next installment is actually about the Women’s Murder Club, with the friends working together to solve a case like they used to.
I LOVE this series!
This is my review Gripping, intense, Slobodan Petrovic is so dislike in so many ways. The Characters are good at their jobs, come together working on a case.
Love the Women’s Murder Club books. They are my favorite Patterson series.
