The international publishing sensation–over six million copies sold worldwide!
A reluctant centenarian much like Forrest Gump (if Gump were an explosives expert with a fondness for vodka) decides it’s not too late to start over . . .
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he’s still in good health, … in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn’t interested (and he’d like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash, some unpleasant criminals, a friendly hot-dog stand operator, and an elephant (not to mention a death by elephant).
It would be the adventure of a lifetime for anyone else, but Allan has a larger-than-life backstory: Not only has he witnessed some of the most important events of the twentieth century, but he has actually played a key role in them. Starting out in munitions as a boy, he somehow finds himself involved in many of the key explosions of the twentieth century and travels the world, sharing meals and more with everyone from Stalin, Churchill, and Truman to Mao, Franco, and de Gaulle. Quirky and utterly unique, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared has charmed readers across the world.

was so darned unbelievable and poorly written, I gave up after about 75 pages
Wasn’t what I expected.
Delightful!
Kind of weird but quite imaginative and amusing.
Rather slow start but interesting and entertaining
An ridiculously engaging read. You have to finish the book to find out what possibly could happen next. I had to read with Wikipedia open next to me to research the bits of history that tied the story together. Fun and worthwhile read.
Entertaining – and a run through history as told through a lifetime of adventures from the non-political 100 year old Swede
It was good for about half of the book but then all the escapades GOT OLD
I DID NOT FINISH IT
the best ending i have read in ages.
Very unique. Many twists and turns.
One of the funniest books I have ever read!
This is one of the funniest books that I have ever read! The writing is creative, clever and very entertaining. I laughed out loud so often that my husband read it just as soon as I finished and enjoyed it as much as I did! We still quote it often and I am excited to get started on the sequel!
A wonderful break from the serious. The characters become your friends as the story takes one absurd twist after another. Enjoy laughing out loud, a learn a little history, with a grain of salt.
I loved this book. What a clever writing style. I’ve recommended it to so many friends. I’m going to read the next book by this author
An interesting and humorous look at the adventures of a man after he leaves the nursing home to avoid his own 200th birthday party
One of the most charming books I’ve ever read.
Loved it
The hundred year old man was extremely funny to begin with. As the story progressed it became so boring that I was tempted to not finish it. I guess I was hoping it would get better. It didn’t.
Wonderful!
Silly…
