SavannahThis town ain’t big enough for the two of us.Which is why I left.I was determined never to return to Hale, Texas. But when my new life in the Big Apple throws me a curve ball, I have to go back to tie up loose ends. One of those being him.Jason Whitney was my first everything. Kiss, love, epic heartbreak. He shattered my world once upon a time, and apparently, he’s not done yet. With old … and apparently, he’s not done yet.
With old demons lurking around every corner, hightailing it out of my hometown is at the top of my list. Complete my unfinished business, and I get to leave any memory of my country existence behind.
Only, with each day I spend in it, with each moment I spend with him, I’m turning back into the girl who laid in the tall grass and swam in the creek all those years ago.
And I’m not sure that who I was is ready to let me go again.
Jason
We drew a line down the middle, and neither of us has crossed it.
That is, until Savannah Reese blew back into our hometown.
The day my high school sweetheart left, she took my whole heart with her. We promised each other forever, made plans that only teenagers could believe in, and crashed and burned on the grandest of scales.
When Savannah last saw me, I was a disgraced high school athlete. All washed up, I took it out on the only person who loved me. Then her world really fell apart, and I was too selfish to care.
Now she’s back, ready to sell the only remaining thing tying us to each other. I’ve been breaking my back for the last ten years not to think about her, not to be reminded of the love we shared.
But now that she’s right here, it’s impossible to forget how we used to be. Or let go of what we still are.

Y’all, this book is absolutely beautiful. I needed a couple of days to process it before I could even write this review, I will tell you that I had ALL THE EMOTIONS while reading That’s the Way I Loved You. It showcases the real side of love, how it is tough and not always at the right time, but sometimes, you can get a second chance.
The chemistry and tension from this slow burn second chance romance is off the freaking charts between Savannah and Jason. There is also Savannah making amends with her family as well since she also ran away from them when she left town years ago. The situations, the characters, and the chemistry makes this book a must read! I absolutely enjoyed reading it and thought was delivered in such a wonderful way. I give it 5 HUGE stars and highly recommend it!!
PS: I want to thank the author for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.
I devoured this book. Small town/second chance romance, two genres that I absolutely love. Savannah and Jason’s story is one that you will totally fall in love with.
Returning home after being gone for 10 years brings Savannah face to face with the love of her life. The one she walked away from all those years ago. He’s waited patiently for her, hoping she would come back. Miss she back and he’s never letting her go.
Loved this! These characters are terrific together and their chemistry is off the charts hot. I love small town romance and this is as good as it gets. Wonderful!

Perfect Second Love Story
This book has reminded me in every way why Sweet Home Alabama is one of my favourite movies. Second chance love, witty small-town humour and a dual POV that shows the hurt in the heart and souls of both Savannah and Jason at the breakdown of their teenage love.
The love between them was huge, and they thought it would stand strong in the face of any storm, but when they are hit with two resounding losses one after another, they didn’t cope well and Savannah runs, leaving everything and everyone she knows behind.
One decade later, she’s remade herself, but when the past makes itself known in the most embarrassing of ways, on a credit check when she and her wall street boyfriend apply for a new apartment, she has to go home and sort it all out.
I loved Jason. I absolutely adored him, and so did Savannah’s brother and sisters, who were all still happily living in the town she’s left a decade earlier. The people and the atmosphere were fun and the witty banter between the characters is the reason why I love small town books. For Sav, it wasn’t until she came back and began to realise that family has a way of making look at yourself in a mirror, and that perhaps she didn’t feel comfortable in that new skin after all.
Ms. Aaron’s writing had me reading this book in one hit. It flowed easily and I just couldn’t put it down, so it’s a 4.5 Stars from me.
I couldn’t wait to read this book as I absolutely love this authors books and this small town romance book is absolutely fantastic and you wont be able to put it down right until the end.
I love reading second chance romance stories and this story between Jason and Savannah is just that, but life and especially love is never plain sailing and these two have to go through some things before and that’s even if that’s how its meant to be.
Jason and Savannah knew each other from before way back and now 10 years has passed and they have both got totally different lives and are different people, but when they see each other again it awakens all that they lost.
Savannah has to go back to the town that she hasn’t been in for 10 years and all the unfinished business that goes with it. She has a plan for her life and she knows what she wants to do and how she needs to get it. She needs to see her family again and make up for lost time and when she sees Jason she realizes that those feelings are still there, but is it enough any more?
Jason and Savannah had ideas long ago and when he sees her again all the years down the line he starts to feel and the memories come flooding back because he has never got over her. Savannah is the girl that got away for Jason and he is determined not to let her get away from him again. He wants to win her heart and never let her go.
(NO SPOILERS)
I love second chance romance books and this book is a real romantic love story with all the ups and down and curve balls that life throws at you. Jason and Savannah are real soul mates and are truly meant to be together and this is a real powerful story that has you feeling it all along with the characters. It will have your emotions up and down and its a beautiful book. I loved the way this author has written her characters and the reader can really connected and relate with them. I couldn’t put this book down and I highly recommend that everyone reads it.
Thank you to the author and the publishers for allowing me to read an early copy if this book.

That’s the Way I Loved You is Carrie Aarons’s newest standalone romance. I have been reading Carrie’s books for years and I always know that I will be swept up in the romance. And this one has a Sweet Home, Alabama feel to it and I love that movie so it’s so much fun.
Savannah and Jason were the “It couple.” Everyone in their small town knew they were soulmates from the moment the couple knew what a crush was at the age of eight. As teens, they were the couple everyone wanted to be. They were going places. They fought, loved, and had a wonderful and adorable future ahead of them. Then it all ended a few months after graduation. Savannah walked away. She moved to New York with big dreams and didn’t look back. That was until now…
They had unfinished business that needed to be complete before Savannah can move on with her life. She thought it was taken care of ten years ago but it seems her ex had other plans. In and out. She really thought it would be that easy but when it came to Jason and Hale, Texas it was anything but. She was thrown back into the fast. Facing the issues that had her running ten years ago and now it was time to deal with them head on. It was the only way to get back to her New York lifestyle. One completely different then the one in Hale. Easy, right?
Not. At. All.
I can’t really get into the full story but I will say that I really enjoyed it! The characters are lovable. The town is sweet. The story is emotional, fun, sweet, and flirty. It’s all about love, loss, friendships, family, and figuring out where you belong.
Quotes:
“Come by and see some of your old friends at Buddy’s tonight, and maybe we can have a chat then. Here’s your coffee. Hope it’s not to white trash for you.”
“The worth of a person is not in what they own or how much money they make. It’s about their soul. How kind they are, how they care for the people around them.”
“You dared me to.” I shrug. “I don’t back down from a dare.”
He leans over to me and whispers, “I’ll have to keep that in mind.”
Such an amazing book! I love Savannah and Jason’s story. I was truly captivated by this book. This author has absolutely written another beautiful second chance romance story. I highly recommend this book!
Why?!?! Why does Carrie Aarons always have to make me feel!! This book had my emotions on overload. I absolutely loved it.
This book is just…it is so much more than a second chance, small town romance. It is about second chances at life not just love, second chances at making things right, second chances at finding yourself, second chances at experiencing true happiness.
Life isn’t always rainbows and sprinkles, there are going to speed bumps and massive roadblocks in our paths. How we handle them can change the course of our lives. Jason and Savannah found this out at an early age. A large chunk of their lives were determined by some huge life altering experiences and they happen at an age that they truly could not process in a healthy manner.
You need to read this book. Come join the rollercoaster and experience life in Hale, TX.
From the minute I started reading this book I could sense that the author has watched sweet home Alabama. I could even hear them speaking in a southern voice as I read. The author really captured the characters well and the chemistry was off the chart. You went on a roller coaster ride right along with them. This is a good book and I highly recommend reading it.
This second chance story was full of heartache and longing for the one that got away. Longing for the one you didn’t even realize that you missed while being away.
Savannah and Jason were very young when their world shattered. It took them a decade to finally find common ground to finally have the HEA they wanted when they were kids.
I laughed, I cried but most of all I was left happy when the words THE END appeared.

Once again Carrie Aarons writes a book that will have you swooning for the characters in the story! Get ready to do just this when you meet Jason & Savannah! 5 stars for this one!
Meet Savannah, she had escaped her hometown and started a new life in NYC, leaving her small town life behind with out a look back, until one day ten years later when she’s forced back to the town in Texas she grew up in, to finish up some personal business.
When she returns home and see’s Jason for the first time, her stomach does that thing, that only he can make it do. Jason has never gotten over her leaving, and now that she’s back he will do whatever it takes to keep her there, where she belongs. But will she give in and do this, or will she rush back to NYC and resume the life she has there? Read along and find out!
Great job writing this story Carrie! Loved every part of it!
Carrie Aarons’ latest is a small town second chance romance that is reminiscent of the movie Sweet Home Alabama. With Savannah returning to her small hometown from the big city, she has loose ends to tie. One of those being her ex, Jason. Jason is looking to change those regrets that settled in after Savannah left.
With each new release, CA’s writing gets better. I’m always looking forward to seeing what is going to come next.
This is the ultimate second chance romance full of emotional moments that will break your heart but put it back together again.
Jason and Savannah were highschool sweethearts that everyone knew were soulmates. They had an incredible romance full of heated fights and even hotter making up moments. They had their life all figured out when life knocked them both back pretty hard. Unable to handle it Savannah took off for New York and started a new life there while Jason stayed back in there small town waiting for the moment she came back.
I have to say I had a really hard time loving Savannah. I found her snobbish and selfish and incredibly shallow. The thing I could like about her is that she actually recognized that about herself and wanted to be different. Jason on the other hand was incredibly lovable from the first moment you meet him and despite him having flaws and being half of the issue that caused Savannah to take off, you definitely find yourself rooting for him just a little bit more (at least for me this is how it worked) I did end up liking Savannah and loved their second chance romance. It had the best HEA Ever! I love that this book was inspired by Sweet Home Alabama because I absolutely love that movie although I think I like Savannah and Jason’s story even better.
**I was provided with an adavanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review**
That’s the Way I Loved You
Carrie Aarons
What a marvelous fantastic terrific small-town second-chance romance!! Grabbed me at my heart strings with ball of emotions. Absolutely amazing! Loved everything!!
“Our history eclipses decades, lifetimes . You are it for me, you always have been, Savannah. I’ve never loved anyone else the way I love you, and I have no intention of letting that or you go again.”
And here’s another classic hit by Carrie Aarons. She knows how to write small romance. She is a pro at creating second chances opportunities that make you laugh and want to cry all at the same time. Her characters are real and raw, with flaws you can relate to. Truly, one emotional and amazing book by this author!
I am always so loved with small town romances. You get the love of family, friends, meddling people. You get everything you love in romance books. When you see two people broken because the past, you become emotionally invested.
Savannah and Jason have a past. Their past sure is rocky and unsure. When she runs away form the only true love, and returns 10 years later – hello heartache. Together, they have to work on something and get it done. But, in between the fixing up, pat feelings become involved. And boy are they hot and steamy feelings. These 2 had chemistry like no other.
Hold on tight for one amazing, small town read!!
Another hit from Carrie! After a series of events happen and Savannah’s world changes drastically, she decides to move away to NYC and start over. Ten years later, finally established and ready to take the next step with her boyfriend, her past comes back to haunt her and requires her to go back home after all that time to handle it. Reluctant, she travels back to Texas to handle things, which require talking to her ex Jason, the love of her life. Taking her returning as a second chance, Jason decides to give her a challenge for her to get him out of her life for good. What starts as her working towards fixing up the house in order to leave ends up showing her everything she’s missed out on in the past ten years as well as address her feelings for Jason and the other things that made her run in the first place. The chemistry between Savannah and Jason was electric, and I was dying to know what all took place in the past to make her run – and the comeback was just as good as their relationship before! I loved that not only did Savannah reconnect with Jason, but also reconnected with her family and took stock in what mattered and was important in life. Overall, I loved this story from Carrie and can’t wait for her next release!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
As teenagers Savannah and Jason had their future planned together until life threw them a curve ball that neither was able to recover from. Savannah’s response to dealing with the situation was to leave and never look back but fate had other plans as the new future she has planned is in jeopardy is she doesn’t fix the past.
Jason regrets the way that his relationship ended with Savannah and he is no longer the man she knew but the love he has for her is stronger than ever. It may have been a decade since he saw her but now that she is back in town, he is determined to get her back into his life and isn’t above a little arrangement to ensure that happens.
This is an emotional story about two people who were torn apart by the obstacles life threw at them, and not because they didn’t love each other. The chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever but first they must heal from the past.
I adored this book! Savannah and Jason are so perfect for each other. I love that their problems are so relatable and “real”. I felt like I was in the book living their lives with them. Another five star read from one of my favorite authors!
I’ve been lucky enough to read a lot of Carrie’s stories however this one is my absolute favourite.
It’s the perfect second chance novel full of twist and turns but most importantly love. Savannah and Jason are incredible and I miss them already. My heart is still full when I think of them. I 100% recommend you to one click this one.
I received an advance copy of this from the author and their team. I volunteered to leave an unbiased review.
This is the second Carrie Aarons book and I think I can safely say she’s a favourite of mine. This book blew me away.
The longing between Jason and Savannah was out of this world and I’ve found lately that’s one of my buzz things and it really hit the mark.
This is a second chance kinda enemies to lovers again situation. It’s a wee bit complicated, okay!
The only thing that bumped this down half a star was something Savanah did that I just wasn’t okay with. But it was a personal thing. Overall the other 98% of this book was A+

I enjoyed this second chance romance. The book is well written and engaging. The storyline offers up a entertaining blend of deep emotion, tension, sweetness, charm, drama and angst. Savannah and Jason have plenty of painful baggage from their long history. Both of these characters were flawed and made mistakes. I liked Jason a lot but Savannah I was on the fence about. On one hand I could feel for her and understand some of her actions but on the other I thought she was quite immature and self-centered. Still, in their best moments I like these two together and wanted them to get that HEA this time. I am posting an independent, impartial review.
