Robinson Destruction1.Thatcher2.Morgan3.Houston4.Beckett5.Jonas6.DawsonA fresh start was what Rogan Hall needed. A small town, out of the way, where no one knew her or her brother was where they’d start over. She worked from home, and they kept to themselves. The only thing Rogan couldn’t give up was her early morning run. Like clockwork, she ran every morning, and again, like clockwork, the same … morning, and again, like clockwork, the same family would pass her on the country road heading to who knew where. The little boy in the back seat would wave at her with such enthusiasm, it made her heart melt. However, that morning, everything would change. Only moments after the car passed her and drove around the bend, she heard a loud commotion. Another car barreled past her, and she found the quaint family’s car overturned and on fire. Rogan did the only thing she could do, she saved them.
Thatcher Robinson was on duty at the hospital when his parents contacted him through their link and told him about the accident and what to expect when the ambulance arrived. Thatch, his dad, told him they had to save the woman by changing her, but her burns were severe, and his dad wasn’t sure that the new tiger would survive.
When Rogan regained consciousness, she was unsure where she was, but she knew she was different. She could feel the tiger move just beneath her skin. Rogan knew very little about shifters, but what she did know had her cringing. Why someone would take it upon themselves to change her, she didn’t know, but when the young doctor, Dawson, said his brother was her mate, she was furious. If the big, bad, Thatcher thought he was going to order her around, he had another thing coming….

Kathi S. Barton has, once again, giving us a strong heroine in Rogan. She and her brother Jamie have moved to a small town in Ohio to make a new start for themselves. Each morning Rogan jogs down the road and is passed by the same car with the same family and the same small child waving at her with enthusiasm. She’s looked forward to that small smile and wave which brightens her day. Then the morning comes when she hears the gut-wrenching sounds and comes upon the same car she just saw turned upside down from an accident. She frantically starts pulling the family out of the car. The man, the woman, two small little girls still sucking a binky, and started to get the little boy when a vehicle that had previously passed her had turned around and come back to throw a Molotov cocktail at the car. The explosion throws them from the vehicle. It was such a heroic act for a stranger to performing. Thankfully the Robinson family had come upon them, contacted their son Thatcher who is a surgeon at the hospital to let them know what had happened and that the woman might not make it from her injuries. In order to help her, his mom and dad had repeatedly bit her in order to change her into a Bengal Tiger trying to save her life. There’s plenty of drama and angst, broken hearts and second chances, love and fated mates. It’s everything Kathi S. Barton brings to one of her paranormal shifter stories that we’ve come to know and love. I can’t wait for Morgan’s story next.
This book had a promising start.
The opening scene was captivating and different from other Kathi books. However, from there the book just seemed to flat line.
Rogan moved to the small town for her an her brother to have a fresh start. What I’m curious about is why they needed a fresh start where nobody knew who they were. From reading the book, Rogan and her brother haven’t seen or heard from their parents in more than a decade. So what made her just up and move?
Rogan and Thatcher’s romance went from her hating and denying anything will ever happen between them to her crying and apologizing for speaking her opinions on this mating that is sprung upon her when she regains consciousness after the accident. These drastic emotional changes happened quite a bit during this book. Another big one, that I really wish would’ve been more fleshed out is Rogan’s parents about face. They are described the entire book as abusive, so abusive they tried to kill her brother. But then they make a drastic turn around when they lose their home and are on the road to Rogan to demand money.
A truly enjoyable read.
A Great Start to a New Series
