Can such complete opposites find a way to make their love work?
When Maggie Golding, unconventional and artistic 50-something, agrees to help a friend by working as a window dresser at Pettett & Mayfields London department store, she never expected to fall in love with Edgar Pettett, staid and sensible heir to the business.
Nor did she expect that he’d still love her when she revealed her past, the consequences of that long-ago sunflower summer working in Tuscany. Her daughter, Rachel.
Between her shaky faith, their huge differences, and his mother’s disapproval, how can they possibly work things out?
BOOK 2 : DOLCE VITA (Sweet Life)
La dolce vita, a sweeter life of love, awaits Rachel. But can she accept it?
Rachel Golding loves her uncomplicated life in Wales, until the trip to Italy to meet her Italian grandmother for the first time stirs unwelcome emotions. Between her cousin’s accusations, her mother’s wedding, and her realisation she feels way more than she should for her best friend Jonathan, Rachel’s organised life is spiraling out of control.
Always ready for adventure, especially with the woman he loves, Jonathan Davies gladly accompanies Rach on a return journey to Tuscany. But now she needs his friendship and support more than ever, revealing his love is a risk he dare not take. Not without some sign she wants more. A sign she may never give.
In the haze of a sunflower summer, can Rachel learn to surrender her hurts and fears to God and so embrace the life He intends for her? La dolce vita, a sweeter life of love.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I really enjoyed reading this set of books. I liked that three of the four books are about older folks. I also liked the family connections through the four books. I also liked the faith aspect that ran through the books. Great job with the stories and the characters and their problems, Autumn!
A wonderful set by a wonderful author! Heartwarming and sweet romances that touched me and are a lot of fun to read!
I love these sweet, clean, heart warming Christian books about family, secrets, forgiveness and love.
One thing I really enjoyed about Least Expected is that it is an older couple (Maggie & Ed) who fall in love. This is an opposites attract romance. The characters are so well portrayed I feel like they would be my friends. In this story, both characters accept God’s help to become the people they are supposed to be.
The Tuscan saga continues in Dolce Vita with Ed & Maggie’s wedding and Rachel, Maggie’s daughter, as she longs to know more about the father who died before she was born and searches for the creator of the mysterious paintings received by everyone but her. She and her friend Jon journey again to Italy. Will Rachel learn to forgive? This important story reminds us that not forgiving hurts us as much as those we do not forgive.
Many questions are answered in La Risposta. Forgiveness has been a big part of this series and it is even more important in this book. The characters are warm and believable. There are still a couple of plot twists. I could not put this book down and had to keep reading so find out the ending. This is another wonderful romance in this series.
Innamorata is a sweet novella at the end of the Tuscan Legacy series. Isabella has been very content to see her grandchildren finally settled in faith and love. She has been a widow for thirty years. She realizes that her life is changing with everyone paired off. When a recently widowed first love reappears at her home to apologize to Isabells’s long deceased husband, will she let him back into her life? You will need to read this book to find out. A great conclusion to the Rossi family saga.
These four books follow several generations of a Tuscany family, going back into the past, showing how poor decisions can resonate decades later. I like that the author is honest about this family – not protraying them as perfect or having it all together. These are “real” people with issues of anger and unforgiveness, but also an acknowledgement of the good in each one, a commitment to love no matter what, and a willingness to look out for each other. Each story is very romantic, following a couple through their ups and downs and happy-ever-after endings. On the way they struggle in their faith toward choosing forgiveness – never easily, it’s always a battle, but they eventually choose God’s way of letting go – finding that by forgiving others, their lives become better.
Least Expected – Being 55 myself, I really enjoyed reading about a couple in their 50s. Maggie is a hoot and Edgar is such a sweet man. Definitely opposites but they are great together.
DOLCE VITA (Sweet Life) – Rachel and Jon make a trip back to Italy after her mom’s wedding. He has loved her for so long and she is beginning to realize she loves him too. I love a friends to love romance just wish it didn’t always take so long. A story of forgiveness and how it isn’t easy even for Christians to truly forgive someone who has hurt us even if they are really sorry for what pain they have caused us. There was also a beginning of a mystery to solve.
LA RISPOSTA (The Answer) – I really enjoyed this book even though this is the only one in the series I have read – so far. It was so good I want to read some of the others. A story of forgiveness and extending grace to others. 34 years is a long time to be resentful and it is a long time to stay with someone who doesn’t love you. I wanted to scream WHY don’t you just talk ??????!!!!! Teresa and Beppe are a couple that proves that anything is possible and that it is never too late.
INNAMORATA (Sweetheart) – Love can happen at any age and these two are a great example. Widowed for many many years and now a second chance with her teenage sweetheart. Loved this grandmother and my heart has hurt for and with her throughout this series so this happy ending made me smile.
That Sunflower Summer is a great collection of books that, although by the same author, are varied in the romances. The romances vary from a colorful artist in her 50’s with a businessman, to a young couple, to a couple that has been in a bad marriage over 30 years (The romance is between the husband and wife.), to a pair of 80 year olds. The stories are all connected by one Italian family. The themes of forgiveness, faith, and reconciliation run through them. The issues of forgiveness include forgiving oneself and being willing to try again, forgiving others for deep hurts (no cheating), and reconciliation with family and with God. I highly recommend this collection and the author, Autumn Macarthur. I obtained my copy through KU.
That Sunflower Summer is a four book boxed set about the Rossi Family. They have so many secrets that control them. I hoped that forgiveness and faith would help them heal. I especially enjoyed Least Expected. This faith based romance is the story of a mature couple who find love. Maggie had lost her belief in God after tragedy struck in her late teens. She was ostracized by her parents and forced to bring up her daughter alone. Today Maggie is a free spirit who’s never married. Edgar is a well to do bachelor who’s dominated by his mother. He agrees to her wishes until he finds Maggie. I enjoyed seeing love blossom. I knew Maggie needs to deal with her past to have a future. I wanted her to get that second chance. In the next book we learn more about Rachel, Maggie’s daughter, and her close friendship with Jonathan. These two are in love but Rachel’s uncertainty about commitment is a stumbling block. I wished that she could get past her feelings of rejection and open her heart to this sweet, caring man. Can she take the first step and forgive those who hurt both her and her mother? I wanted her to have the strength and faith to do that. There are two additional stories that help us understand the complicated relationships in the Rossi family. Autumn Macarthur kept me enthralled. I cared about these people and wanted them to be happy.
“God can be a terrible nag sometimes” comes from “Least Expected” and sets the tone for these stories. I didn’t know what to expect but I loved the books. God’s guidance and hand is an integral part of all the stories but so is love and mystery. Autumn Macarthur brings us wonderful characters and the story line carries throughout. I love that at the end of the book you can find the scriptures that are referenced in the story. These books have been on my TBR list for quite a while and now that I’ve read these, I’ll be moving on to the next one. I’m a binge reader that hates to have an incomplete series. I recommend these.
