Xavier’s first big film acting role takes him to Spain, filming a love story with established star Dennis. As they act out a scripted star-crossed romance, they find themselves falling in love for real. But Dennis isn’t out, and Xavier’s last ex’s behavior has left him with serious emotional scars– and an aversion to dating anyone in the closet. Plus there’s the fiancé. And the publicity. And the chemistry. This story has plenty of angst, a fair amount of steam, and some very sweet moments along the way. I thought the author’s decision to start at what seems like the ending, before going back to show the relationship as it unfolds, was a really good one: it definitely set the scene for the kinds of obstacles the two faced and the mistakes they were going to make. I will just say that a lot, really a lot, of the drama between them could have been fixed if they just TALKED TO EACH OTHER, but that’s a pretty standard romantic trope, and it’s as effective as it is maddening. All in all, a really good read.

I’m truly a fan now but I’m not going to lie…I really was kind of put out on how the book started. I really don’t like reading the present then backtracking to the past…basically prologues….love epilogues, hate prologues but anyway I remember doing a hard eye roll and breathing a deep sigh and saying I don’t want to finish this geesh but OMG…I’m glad I gave it a chance. The author tied the entire timeline so well I wasn’t salty no more. He did a really good job getting me hooked to story of Xavier and Dennis. It was really emotional and intense in the beginning and you learn why Xavier is going through that emotional rollercoaster with Dennis. I loved both guys but I was a little bit more team Xavier. He knew what he was getting into with Dennis would eventually lead to heartache but he was willing to take chance…so many feels…Their time together in Spain was special and it would have been so much better and less stressful if there were less assumptions and more confessions. When they were apart, I believe both were able to be honest about their feelings and when they reconnected it was sweet. Dennis really redeemed himself in my eyes..very romantic ending. Loved it!

Such a sweet, sweet story!
This is the kind of book that leaves you happy, all warm and fuzzy inside. A light and funny romance, and the kind of feel-good story you want to curl up with during the weekend to let all the worries of everyday life slide away.
The characters are good, the writing, great and, obstacles and closeted Denny notwithstanding, the story flows effortlessly towards their deserved happy ending. What else could you ask for? 🙂
A summer love story with very positive vibes and interesting characters. The plot flew very well and the story was very enjoyable!
