USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the third novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and laying your heart on the line.
What happens when your secret crush isn’t so secret anymore?
I’ve had feelings for Eve Roberts for as long as I can remember, but because she also happens to be the twin sister of my best friend, Eric, I’ve never … my best friend, Eric, I’ve never acted on my feelings and long ago resigned myself to keeping my crush under wraps.
But after a terrible falling-out with Eric involving a failed restaurant venture and plenty of blame on both sides, I’m back in Port Snow without my best friend and without any direction. But can you guess who’s here? Eve. And my attraction to her is as strong as ever.
As old feelings rush back, Eve and I find ourselves pulled together, whether we like it or not. Lines are crossed, secrets are kept, and we soon discover that the difference between love and friendship may not be so black and white, after all.
Everyone wants that secret crush to love them back…but will I be ready when she does?

Ok.
I love the Knightly’s. I really do.
But OMFG this one took my to hangover-ville, and not necessarily in a good way ~ at least not fully ~ because I’m exhausted in so many ways, it’s insane. I loved, LOVED some things and others…others they tried me, oh boy did they try me…hard and had me looking for a freezer, but in the end, I did like how everything turned out.
Eve and Reid. I kinda adored Eve. She’s strong, determined, sassy, compassionate and owns all that she is. She’s been through a lot emotionally and yet she keeps going because she knows her worth and what she wants her future to look like. Reid. I liked Reid. I did, but I had also had a difficult time with the ‘poor me’ thing that he covered himself with and did nothing to do anything about it. I get wallowing in your own misery, but even I had to blink a few times at how deep he was in his own muck.
Their journey to their relationship was one that I’m waffling over. I honestly felt that it was extremely one sided when it came to the person who really wanted it to work out for the majority of the book. I understood why that was, but it didn’t mean that it wasn’t frustrating. Also, I’m all about the smexy and smexy bantering between a couple, but this one went into the OTT realm for me and as for the big sinkhole…well, let’s just say I’m #TeamEve and the ones responsible should have grovelled a ton more. But as I said at the start, I still liked how everything turned out for them.
Now, while the romance part was in that strange middle ground, what did do it for me ~ and is the reason for me rounding up ~ was the Knightly family as a whole. I loved the relationship between the siblings ~ the text threads were AMAZING ~ and the way that they butted in to help out was awesome. But we have one Knightly left and I seriously think Imma need to take an edible or two to get through his book because it’s going to Brig who is gonna bring the crazy, but I cannot wait to see him brought to his knees.

A great addition to the Getting Lucky series-perfect mix of humor, heart and heat. Loved getting to understand more about Reid. The banter (and chemistry) between he and Eve was amazing. Really connected with Eve and how she took care of her family. I could read an entire book of the Knightly family texts Can’t wait for another visit to Port Snow and for Brig to get his girl. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
I could not put this book down! Reid was a little tough to crack and you may think he was after one thing only when it came to Eve, but little by little we uncover his attraction to be explosive.
The Secret Crush will make you smile and blush. I really love these brothers and have been waiting for Reid’s story. Eve is a new favorite heroine! She is strong and passionate. I could not ask for more. These two start out hot and then evolve into more. The Secret Crush is a book that will have you thinking about for days to come!
Each book I read in the Getting Lucky series is somehow better than its predecessor. How does that even happen? Am I going to love Brig’s story more than Reid’s, because I’ve gotta say That Secret Crush is gonna be hard to beat. Reid is just too sweet, too sexy, and too funny, and the dude can cook for heaven’s sake! Let’s not forget his skills in the bedroom either. He’s also extremely loyal, which may possibly be his downfall. His friendship with his best friend’s sister, Eve, is just adorable, and the fact that she possibly harbours the same feelings as him is too sweet. Then we have the Knightly family with their meddling ways, the hilarious sibling texts and the gossipy townsfolk. A truly sweet, funny and emotional read (because yes, I shed a few tears), that left me with a serious book hangover, I just did not want this book to end. I love the Knightly clan and their wonderful town of Port Snow. Small town romance, friends to lovers, best friend’s sister. All my favourite genres wrapped in one delightful package. Oh, and that cover!! Scrumdidlyumptious, I love it, he’s the perfect Reid, you’ve just got to look at that cheeky smile to know. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
Reid’s story has been ruminating in the back of my head since the first two books. Wondering, waiting to see exactly what happened to him in the past and why he was that “I don’t like working here but I do it because I have to guy”. I mean we know he had a failed restaurant career but we didn’t REALLY know. There was just something about this dirty talking Knightly brother that had me squirming and outwardly cheering for him to find his maturity so he could find his love. That curse plays havoc on people who might believe it it. I found so much of this story witty and fun to ready. From the Hen Line to Brig’s romantic side, to the family group texts, I enjoyed every moment of this read. Even the difficult ones, where sometimes you have to face your fears and believe that you are worthy…of love…of a second chance…of friendship…of success.
A beautiful story of secret love, broken friendships and discovering your true worth, something only you can give yourself. Another cursed Knightly discovers a love worth fighting for, a true friendship and a new passion for his calling. Will he be grown up enough to not mess it all up? And of he does will she be strong enough to forgive him? It’s funny, and heartbreaking and absolutely everything you expect from a Knightly, even the most well endowed prolific of the brothers! Eve is strineg willed and very hardworking. She will do anything to get where she wants to be, even after all the let downs by her brother. They all have a lot of healing and growing up to do and it was a joy to watch it unfold. Hilarious and I cannot wait for the final Knightly to break his curse!
That Secret Crush is the third book in the Getting Lucky series by Meghan Quinn and I couldn’t wait to jump into this and head back to Port Snow and back to the Knightly family.
Reid is back in Port Snow after a bad experience took his dream away. He lost all his inspiration to cook, to do anything he used to love. He lost the tight bond he had with his best friend, Eric. He felt like a failure compared to his brothers. Eve, who also happens to be Eric’s twin sister, lost her dream. She put her life on hold but despite everything has worked hard to make a come back and she is finally at the finish line.
Reid and Eve have been friends since they were kids. However, they each harbored a secret crush towards the other. I loved the easy-going aspect of their friendship and the banter between the two of them was hilarious at times. Eve can handle the innuendos that Reid throws at her on a regular basis and even through some back. These two had TONS of chemistry and their relationship easily transitioned from friends to lovers.
I love the bond the Knightly family has. They are insanely close and so supportive of each other, even Eve since she has been around for years and years. They bring out the best in each other, they will do anything and everything they can to help each other out.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for the youngest Knightly brother, Brigs!
4.5 stars! I loved this laugh out loud edition to the series, the banter was excellent and the chemistry just worked for these 2. I’m really enjoying all of this series, I can’t wait for more!
Man, I love these Knightly brothers. As good as they are on their own, getting all of them in each book is even better. They are exactly what you would think a group of brothers would behave like. I also love they way they include their sister in their group texts. They have all been very entertaining in this series.
The way Reid can’t seem to keep his hands off of Eve was just hot. The best part about their relationship was how much they just seemed to adore each other. You can really see both of their infatuation with each other. I mean, they both have been secretly crushing on each other for years, so when it finally happens, they are pretty explosive.
As much as I love the love fest, you do get some feels in this book. There is a broken friendship to mend and the inevitable manly screw up that usually happens. You really see Reid, Eve and Eric, her brother, grow into their own after everything they go through.
Each book, each brother has brought us something different. I’m looking forward to the final brother’s fall.
*Sigh* these Knightly brothers are everything!
I just wanted to reach into the pages and give Reid a giant hug. He struggles with self esteem ever since he and his best friend, Eric, had to close their very popular restaurant when their business partner, stole all of their money. Now, estranged from his best friend, he is back home in Port snow trying to figure out who he is now, and what to do with his life. Eve, Eric’s twin sister, has been off limits even though Reid’s feelings are real and strong. Even though Eric and Reid aren’t the best of friends anymore, it doesn’t make things any less complicated.
The road is not easy for Reid and Eve but it is absolutely worth it. They are the perfect match for each other. While it took them a while to realize that they couldn’t live with out the other, it is so enjoyable watching them come to terms with it and watch their journey to their happily ever after.
I am so in love with the town of Port Snow and the entire Knightly family! August can not come soon enough so I can get my hands on That Swoony Feeling, Brig’s story! While I can not wait to read Brig’s story, I have to admit it will be bitter sweet having to say goodbye to this series after the final book.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
This is my favourite book in the series to date! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Reid but from the very beginning of the book, I fell for him big time! Eve is one lucky lady.
Both Reid and Eve grew up in Port Snow, as did her twin brother Eric. Reid and Eric hit it off and became fast best friends and Eve was their shadow. She was there to make sure they didn’t do anything silly. Fast forward ten years and things are very different. After a failed attempt at owning and running a business together, Reid and Eric are not as communicative as they once were and Reid is back in Port Snow living his lesser life. Eve is also still in their home town, finishing off a degree in Business and working indirectly with Reid the fisherman. After a snowy night and a few shots, the crush that Reid has had for Eve goes to the next level.
What I loved most about this couple is life wasn’t always easy but these two complimented each other perfectly. Reid was adorable with his banter and sexy flirty mouth. He also was the most loyal man that would give up his own dreams to make others happy. I have never believed in needing a man to fulfil my life, I feel we can all cope with living by ourselves, but when you find that person that doesn’t just complete you, they bring out the very best in you, you will want to hang on to them with both hands. That’s the kind of love Reid and Eve have. Takes them a while to realise it, but it was amazing to read along and watch them discover it. Their story is very authentic and there are definitely some funny moments. I was snorting and giggling just as much as Eve was. I can not wait for the helicoptering dancing queens book which is up next. Brig has some big shoes to fill and I am excited to see this super romantic guy get his HEA.
. Okay, I have a huge confession. I’ve followed Meghan Quinn and her adorable family on Instagram for a couple of years now, but this is the first book I’ve read of hers, and I’m kicking myself because of it! Few books have made me laugh during the entire freaking time, I mean honestly, in doctors offices, in the car while carpooling with my husband, at work during a break, on the couch after work, seriously, every page brought forth some kind of hysterical humor between Reid and Eve, and I freaking loved it. Loved the passion and chemistry between these two, loved the constant banter they had, the compassion they shared, loved the entire Knightly clan, and loved the setting in Port Snow. Long books that keep you entertained throughout are high on my favorite list, and this marks off every single thing on that list. I now need to go back and read the first two books in this series, because I have a feeling I’ve missed out on something pretty special. Very well written, flows easily throughout the entire book, and leaves you with the warm and fuzzies. Can’t ask for much more than that. Read it, you won’t be sorry!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
4.5 star review of That Secret Crush (Getting Lucky #3) by Meghan Quinn
Meghan Quinn had me invested from the first to the last page. I adore stories based in small towns and through the author’s writing I can easily see myself in Port Snow.
This is Reid Knightly and Eve Roberts story and one that I couldn’t put down. Both have always had a crush on one another but circumstances have not given them the opportunity to act.
The camaraderie between Reid and his brothers really adds another layer to the story that Ms. Quinn weaves.
I fell hard and fast for Reid Knightly, although he certainly needed to work on his issues. Reid is a charismatic hero that I couldn’t help but like. I loved how independent, feisty and sassy Eve was; she held her own and wasn’t afraid to call Reid out.
The chemistry between Reid and Eve was intense and hot. There was also humour and laughter which was heartwarming although there were also moments that had my heart breaking at times.
What will happen when lines are crossed? Will their friendship be destroyed or could this be the start of something special?
Looking forward to seeing where Ms. Quinn takes us next.
I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley.
This is fairly steamy book so if that isn’t for you think again.
Reid and Eric had a restaurant business together but it was all destroyed when their business manager stole all their money It not only destroyed their business but also the friendship between Eric and Reid. Reid headed back to their hometown to work for his family business and four years later he is still in that rut. Eve is Eric’s twin sister and has always had a crush on Reid but never wanted to risk her friendship with him so never acted on it but now Reid has made a move on her Do they have a chance together. All together a great read and my first introduction to this authors work
Meghan has done it again with these Knightly brothers!
Everytime i read their books i declare i have a new favourite brother and then the next one comes and it happens all over again.
Admittedly it took me a while to get into but that was more my fault, i had the attention span of a gnat so i couldn’t concentrate on reading but then i turned on airplane mode and just stuck it out and away i went. I couldn’t stop!
Reid and Eve have such a beautiful relationship, Reid was hilarious and had my sort of sense of humour, everything becomes sexual with the jokes.
Eve, she was great, very strong and not afraid to say whats on her mind.
I really loved this book and all the others but i can’t deny I’m absolutely dying for Brigs’ book!
ou need to pick up That Secret Crush. It is a phenomenal read that is filled with laughter, family, childhood crushes and fixing friendships. If you have read any of the Getting Lucky books then you are familiar with the Knightly men. This is Reid’s book. You will just love it too. I love how he works hard trying to figure out who he is throughout this one. You feel for him and Eric with what happened with their friendship. Reid is that mystery brother that you can’t wait to unravel and you will not be disappointed but you may be frustrated at times….just saying. The friendship with Eve and Reid is amazing. I love their banter and the support Reid gives her when she really needs it. The chemistry is amazing. But you feel for them when the issue of Eve being that childhood best friend sister. Watching the ups and downs Reid, Eve and even Eric go through all together just pulls at your heart. I couldn’t put this one down. I love Eve and Reid together. I for one cannot wait for Brig’s book to come. Go one click this today.
I love the authenticity and intimacy of a close knitted community and family that small town romance portray. It was a delight to go back to Port Snow, one of my favorite place, in That Secret Crush . The third book in the Getting Lucky series brought us Reid and Eve’s friends to lovers’, best friend’s sister romance. Their heartfelt story was filled with heartache, sweetness, laughter and most importantly love.
Reid and Eve complimented each other so well. Reid was a little damaged after the failure of his dream restaurant. Eve was patient with his varying mood and always tried to lift him up. I loved that their connection and relationship was genuine and natural. They practically grew up together and shared so much memories both good and bad. Reid’s stubbornness had cause Eve some heartache. Luckily, he finally manned up and determined to win the girl.
Reid’s unfiltered mouth and the candid exchanges of Knightly siblings brought so much laughter to the story. The togetherness, love and support of the Knightly family was one of my favorite parts of the series. Only the Knightly family could pull that fabulous grand gesture at the end in such short notice.
I thoroughly enjoyed this friends to lovers, best friend’s sister romance that was filled humor and heart. If you are looking for a well written and plotted out read that would pull on your heartstrings, don’t miss out on this!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

It was so great to be back in Port Snow with the Knightly brothers, I’ve loved everything about this series, from the small gossiping town to the sibling group texts. Reid Knightly has harbored a secret crush on his best friend’s twin sister Eve since they were kids. It’s been 3 years that he’s been back in town after his failed restaurant with Eric, spending his days lobster fishing in the morning and working in his dad’s shop in the afternoon, Reid’s having a hard time shaking the failure and moving on with his life. Eve’s life hasn’t been easy either. Living her first few years in foster care before being adopted by an older couple she knows plenty about sacrifice and heartbreak. Putting her dreams on hold to care for her aging parents before their deaths, and then again a few years later so Eric could follow his dream of opening a restaurant now is her time. Working full time and finishing her degree Eve’s life is pretty full, the only thing missing is love, or more accurately Reid Knightly, but that’s just a silly fantasy. Right?
If you’re a Meghan Quinn fan (even if you’re not and need something funny) this book will not disappoint. It’s sweet (Reid’s sweet in his own obnoxious way), hilarious and has some angst. I ADORE the Knightly siblings and all of their interactions, the way they stand up for and support each other. I don’t like snow or fudge, but this series makes me want both. Reid was so incredibly stubborn I almost wished I could yell at him for Eve, but then his brothers got involved, even if he didn’t change his ways, I felt better. This was a little bit of a roller coaster, there were several times I was sure was it, the breakup, but Eve so was patient and loving towards him boarding on saintly. I loved their interactions and chemistry. This is such a great addition to the series and I CAN NOT WAIT to get Brig’s book! THank you to Montlake Romance for an ARC.
You can’t help but fall in love with these Knightly brothers! That Secret Crush is Reid & Eve’s story and it’s a heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking; hilarious and sexy read. I had a feeling Reid would have no boundaries and I was right! As the title implies, Reid had a “not so secret” crush on Eve and Eve had a “no so secret” crush on Reid. I love these small town romances especially when the author does such a fantastic job of describing Port Snow — I don’t know if it really exists, but if it does, I want to go there. The relationship between these brothers and their mutual love and respect of their parents and friends is so very refreshing and enjoyable. I love this series and I have to say, since I read the first book, I have been waiting patiently for Brig’s story! I so hope that his is next! Another 5+ star read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
