USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the third novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and laying your heart on the line.
What happens when your secret crush isn’t so secret anymore?
I’ve had feelings for Eve Roberts for as long as I can remember, but because she also happens to be the twin sister of my best friend, Eric, I’ve never … my best friend, Eric, I’ve never acted on my feelings and long ago resigned myself to keeping my crush under wraps.
But after a terrible falling-out with Eric involving a failed restaurant venture and plenty of blame on both sides, I’m back in Port Snow without my best friend and without any direction. But can you guess who’s here? Eve. And my attraction to her is as strong as ever.
As old feelings rush back, Eve and I find ourselves pulled together, whether we like it or not. Lines are crossed, secrets are kept, and we soon discover that the difference between love and friendship may not be so black and white, after all.
Everyone wants that secret crush to love them back…but will I be ready when she does?

Absolutely loved this book.
Fell in love with the most Handsome Reid from the beginning. Loved him and Eve together.
Needed the tissues but wow Reid is my new book Boyfriend. The book cover is stunning too
I love these Knightly men. They are perfect soul partners to their ladies.
That Secret Crush is Reid Knightly’s story. Reid has had a crush on Eve since they were kids. Eve is his best friend’s Eric’s twin sister so he did not act on it. Now, Reid and Eric have grown apart since their restaurant failed. Eve also has a crush on Reid but never acted on it thinking he was never interested in her. They have a great friendship. Then one night, Reid and Eve finally act on their crush.
This story was filled with heartache, laughter, and love. Reid and Eve had great chemistry and I loved every interaction and banter. And the group chats with all the siblings were hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud.
Love this series, love the Knightly siblings. It is a great small-town romance that has you falling for the town and characters. Can’t wait for Brig’s love story. He definitely needs his own happy ending.
I received this book for free and leaving my honest review.
I love Megan Quinn’s writing and I’m always so grateful for her books, and this story doesn’t disappoint. A great story check, two very likable characters easy to fall in love check, humor- lots of humor check, family drama check, hot exploding chemistry check and you got yourself an amazing book that you enjoy reading every page of it. Another great one of the series.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
That Secret Crush is the 3rd book about the Knightly Brothers. Each of these books can be read as a standalone, but I find them more enjoyable if read in order. These brothers were cursed by a witch in New Orleans and she said that they will not find love until their minds mature. They claim not to believe in the curse, but secretly, they have their doubts.
This book is about Reid Knightly. He was an aspiring chef who co-owned a restaurant with his best friend, Eric, until their business manager ran off with their money and bankrupted their business. This coincides with the curse. Now Reid is barely making ends meet, he’s grumpy all the time and he rarely speaks to Eric.
Reid secretly has a crush on Eric’s twin sister, Eve Roberts. Eve has put her life on hold to help others, but she’s struggling to work and put herself through college. She also has a secret crush on Reid. One snowy night, they act on their attraction. It’s definitely not an easy road from there.
I loved this book and Eve was a BADASS. She was so strong and she didn’t take crap from anyone. I loved her. On the other hand, I wanted to slap Reid a couple of times and tell him to man up and get over it. Communication was definitely an issue for Reid and I was glad that Eve held him accountable.
I didn’t really like Eve’s brother and I wished he would just go back to Boston. He was too whiny for me.
This was an enjoyable, heartfelt, funny story. I laughed out loud several times with the outrageous comments from Reid and with Brig’s ridiculousness. I can’t wait to read Brig’s story. I highly recommend this installment of the Knightly Brothers.
ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Reid & Eve’s story was a fun one to read!
I enjoyed reading about another Knightly brother and the “curse” that they feel all has messed up their lives when it comes to love.
This book is funny, sweet and an emotional ride on these characters finding their true love.

This one is about Reed Knightly, the third brother in this family, and his best friend’s twin sister, Eve. He has had a crush on her since they were younger but never acted on it, after all you don’t mess with your best friend’s sister…ever. After losing restaurant and coming home, he has given up cooking which was his passion and Reed is slowly dying inside. On the anniversary of her parent’s death, Eve visits their grave site and Reed is there to offer her comfort and more. They have always had a push and pull friendship and now the chemistry overtakes them. Keeping it quiet in this small town is not easy though, and especially when Reed’s father offers him an opportunity to get back in the kitchen. The only problem, he has to bring Eric, Eve’s twin, back to town and in with them. Oh, the tangled web this brings. Will they survive this? Definitely great!
Reid Knightly has harbored a secret crush on his best friend Eric’s twin sister for as long as he can remember, but a childhood promise has long kept him from ever pursuing the spectacular Eve Roberts. But nowadays, Reid and Eve are much closer friends than the perpetually absent Eric, and hey… really good friends are allowed to have sex… right?

That Secret Crush was an ultra sexy, highly entertaining, and a laugh-out-loud funny reading delight from beginning to end! Reid and Eve are the epitome of a perfect friends to lovers story… with sizzling chemistry and fabulous banter, I loved every interaction between these two unforgettable characters!
On the precipice of finally achieving some of her biggest life goals, Eve’s hard work is about to pay off. With her impending college graduation and her eye on a new career, it isn’t until her good friend and forever crush makes a move that Eve finds herself to be truly happy. But Reid is a complicated man, and when they move from friends to lovers, it doesn’t take long for their easy connection to become very, very complicated.
Reid once though he had it all, until a trip to New Orleans with his brothers changed everything. His once highly successful restaurant crashes and burns, along with his friendship with his BFF Eric. With his failure weighing heavily on his chest, Reid moves back home to Port Snow, and refuses to live the life he once loved. But when a night with Eve kickstarts Reid’s heart back to life, everything he thought was good enough with his current situation is suddenly not nearly enough… for him or the woman he loves.
This was such a fantastic read! Reid is dripping in angst from his past failures, but he has a never-ending ability to turn anything into a sexual innuendo and lighten any tense situation with his quintessential Reid charm. Eve held her own and then some with the sometimes grouchy and always charismatic Reid. She was a truly selfless woman who put her dreams on hold for her family numerous times, only to have to pull herself up on her own, over and over again. But with her slightly painful past, Eve maintained her optimistic and loyal outlook, no matter what life threw at her.
I loved everything about this book!! The plot was engaging, the writing was immaculate and incredibly entertaining, and the characters were authentic, and best of all, learned from their mistakes and grew past their faults! Full character growth is an amazing thing!!
As always, the supporting characters added so many hilarious and also nurturing moments for both Reid and Eve, and of course let us revisit some of our Port Snow favorites! Reid and Eve were another delightful addition to the amazing Getting Lucky series, and I can’t wait to see what antics the Knightly’s will come up with next!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Megan Quinn does it again with this friends-to-lovers story. I think Reid is now my favorite Knightly!
Reid Knightly has been best friends with Eric since they were young kids and Eve, Eric‘s twin sister, was part of the package. But what neither Eric nor Eve knew was that Reid has been secretly crushing on Eve for years. After having a falling out with Eric, Reid is back in Port Snow, his hometown, struggling with his future. But one night moves are made and Reid and Eve become more than just friends.
Even though Reid finally acted on his crush, things aren’t necessarily easy for him. Is it the Knightly curse or is it his own inner demons that ultimately hold him back and potentially ruin things with Eve?
In a family of 5 siblings and having 3 brothers I’m sure it’s hard to not compare yourself or feel as though you don’t measure up within a successful family. I think many people could relate to this insecurity which plagues Reid. Quinn did a great job of exploring this sense of insecurity without hitting you over the head with it.
Eve was a great balance to Reid. I adore strong female characters and Eve totally fit the bill. She’s had her own disappointments in life but she’s smart, patient and a woman who knows her worth. You go Eve!
I’m not sure who Quinn had more fun writing…Reid or his younger brother Brig. As she said in the acknowledgments of the book, Reid has no filter and that gave ample opportunity for Quinn’s signature hilarity to fly with Reid. He had so many great one-liners that I highlighted and which made me laugh out loud. Brig however almost stole the show. I absolutely love the characterization of this hopelessly romantic brother and he really shined in this book. I cannot wait for his own story to come next in That Swoony Feeling.
That Secret Crush is definitely my favorite of the series so far but can easily be read as a standalone. There’s a reason I’m such a fan of Meghan Quinn’s writing. You get great banter, amazing characters and thought provoking themes to explore, all in a great read that sucks you in from start to finish. A must read for sure!

NO SPOILERS!
That Secret Crush was a fun, sexy, hilarious, and entertaining standalone in the Getting Lucky series, and I really enjoyed coming back to the Knightly family and Port Snow, Maine and all of its residents.
While I really liked That Secret Crush, I’ll admit it was a little difficult for me to get into. For some reason I couldn’t get fully invested in the storyline and characters, which is odd for me since I almost always adore Meghan Quinn’s books. I honestly can’t really pinpoint exactly why I couldn’t completely connect with Reid and Eve’s story, but I just wasn’t feeling it.
Although That Secret Crush hasn’t been my favorite installment in the Getting Lucky series so far, Reid and Eve’s story was still a fun, sexy, and enjoyable read, and I can’t wait to devour Brig Knightly’s story in That Swoony Feeling!
Really liked the book
Wow! (Big sigh…) What a great read! I absolutely loved everything about this book. This is Book 3 in the Get Lucky Series and even though I haven’t read the previous two books, I had no problem following the storyline.
I fell in love with the small town of Port Snow, situated on the Maine coastline, with its great community spirit and gossiping townsfolk. I absolutely loved the whole Knightly family, from Mr and Mrs Knightly, to the gorgeous Knightly brothers (Rogan, Griffin and Brig) and their big sister Jen. I loved the belly-aching funny group chats between the Knightly siblings and the way they came and together and supported each other during difficult and trying times.
This book follows Reid Knightly and Eve Roberts’ story. I seriously loved both these characters. They were childhood friends since the age of ten, when the Roberts family moved to Port Snow, and Reid became best friends with Eric, Eve’s twin brother. They have both been secretly crushing on each other for the last decade but had placed each other in the friend zone, due to Eric’s insistence that Reid not date his sister.
I loved the palpable chemistry between these two; Reid, with his potty mouth and constant sexual innuendos and Eve’s feisty, independent and cheeky personality. There’s no doubt in my mind that two were made for each other.
Meghan out did herself in this book. She managed to weave a beautiful story that had me laughing out loud the one minute and melting the next. Even though I found the storyline to be a bit predictable towards the end, it didn’t deter me from finishing the book and enjoying every single minute of it.
Great book. Very humorous.
4.5 Stars
‘My dream girl, my fantasy, the most untouchable woman to ever walk into my life.’
Port Snow has got to be one of my favorite fictional towns and the Knightly brothers are definitely one of my favorite group of characters! We’re now on our third visit to this town and it truly does feel like coming home again when you get to dive in. I love catching up with old favs and seeing what everyone is up to. This book focuses on Reid Knightly. He may always be quick with a joke or a dirty comment, but ever since returning to Port Snow after losing his restaurant and having a falling out with his best friend, he’s been a bit lost – unsure of the direction his life should take. He’s also harboring a secret crush on his estranged best friend’s twin sister, Eve Roberts. He’s never acted on his feelings for her out of respect for his friend but now that he’s not really in the picture there’s really nothing stopping him – especially when he catches a hint that Eve may have been crushing on him too. Once they give in to their feelings, they fall hard and fast but when a new professional opportunity presents itself and brings Eve’s brother back to town, things are about to get a whole lot more complicated and their newfound relationship is really going to be put to the test.
I totally loved Reid and Eve together. They had such good banter, they made great friends and even better lovers. I really felt for Reid, he had a few tough breaks. Between the dreaded Knightly brother broken love curse and the really heartbreaking way he lost his restaurant, he’d been through a lot. But he also made me want to smack him because of how he’s been wallowing for so long rather than learning from what happened. That’s where Eve really shines though, she did not take his crap and while she was supportive and understanding, she let him know when he was being an idiot and did not go easy on him. She was such a tough cookie and I think she’s been my favorite heroine of the series so far. I also loved the way she handled her brother, Eric. Between him and Reid, she had her hands full in terms of dealing with male stupidity! Reid did show such growth over the course of this book. I loved seeing him reenergized about the new opportunity that was offered to him, it was fun seeing him find his way back to himself and also learn from his mistakes when it came to his relationship with Eve. He really was such a great guy and there were plenty of swoon-worthy moments and a pretty epic grovel as he tried to win her back.
As I mentioned earlier, we also get to see all of our past favorites featured heavily throughout this story. The texts between the Knightly boys and their sister were laugh-out-loud funny and one of my favorite parts of the whole book! I’d seriously read a book that was exclusively texting between them, they were that good! I think we also saw more of Brig in this book than any of the earlier ones and OMG, I NEED his book like tomorrow because he’s a freaking riot and that poor boy deserves to find his one true love! We’ve got several months before we get his story, though, but I really can’t wait for my next (and probably last :::sobs:::) visit to Port Snow!
With each book I read by Meghan Quinn, I become more in awe of her writing talent. She truly has a gift! I’m a sucker for second chance romances and add in the small town and I’m hooked. And who better to give me all the feels with a little humor and a mix of sexiness than Meghan Quinn! It’s a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, MUST READ romance and I would HIGHLY recommend it! I fell absolutely head over heels in love with the quaint and charming small town of Port Snow, Maine, and all of its residents. Definitely be coming back for more. So if you love small-town romances that are rich in scenery, packed with sweetness, heat, and fun, and are after looking an easy reading escape, look no further than this book or any other book this very talented author has written!!
Loved it and definitely added to my favourites list of book I’ve read and by this author. Happy reading!!
Book 3 in the Getting Lucky series and it is a great addition. Loved this story. A friends to lovers’ romance and that is my jam. Love this type of romances. So much fun watching these couples fall in love and Eve and Reid were no different. Loved it. Eve and Reid were really good together. Great chemistry. I needed more, I didn’t want the story to end.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
That Secret Crush is a fabulous story of loving your best friends sister. Reid and Eve have a complicated relationship that I thought she gave him too many chances on but what a ride they have together! Also the group texts in this book are HILARIOUS! Highly recommend!
I loved this book. It might be my favorite in the Getting Lucky series. Going back to Port Snow was amazing in this book. The Story between Reid and Eve was so fun to read. It was nice to see how mature Eve was with Reid’s downfalls. She understood his immaturity and rather than step away from him, she helped him grow as a person. I love when books choose that route over being all whiny! It was fun to watch these two who have crushed on each other so long, finally get together. The family texts are some of my favorite scenes in this book and see all the characters make appearances made me feel like I was back in Port Snow sitting in their lives once again. I can’t wait for Brig’s story!
Ok so I read the first book, and I was just ok with it, but then I saw this book and I was nosy and I have to say thank you that I was because I truly enjoyed it..OMG, so I love this family they are hilarious, hilarious, so I cracked up at Brig, he truly was the show, this guy had me laughing but the sister Jen she was awesome..You guys have got to read this book!. So we had met Reid before and we knew of the curse, but it was nice to read of his crush of Eve, his bestie’s sister. These two going around each other was lovely, and I was so happy that they got together and can I say I liked Eve. She was not a pushover and I loved that she gave as good as she got, she demanded respect and she got it. I liked that she made Reid work for it, thank you I hate when they give in to quickly.. So my favorite parts was on their (the knights) group chats when Jen talks about her vay-jay omg I laughed so hard but I think my favorite part was her version of the bubble machine, too too funny, I seriously love Jen, like for real!!. So when I started reading I said to myself man I wished I would have read the story of Rogan and Harper and felt like I was Gipped then found out today that duh- I missed that book, what in the hell-so I have to go back because I can’t wait, seriously can’t wait for Brigs story because how this ended too too funny…Thank you Meghan I needed this laugh.
rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
A rating. I simply did not expect some of the things that came out of Reid’s mouth…I loved him so much and cannot wait for Brig’s story.
I enjoyed reading this book. Reid is the person you love to just smack. He lives in his head and feels like a failure. He works hard but has shut his emotional life down. Eve Parker, twin of Eric, has been on the treadmill of life. Always sacrificing what she wants for others needs. Finally she is about to finish her education and start her real life. Her life long crush is showing interest. What is a girl to do?Reid Knightly has had a crush on Eve Parker since he has know her. They are dating but don’t want people to know. This is a small town and the lines are buzzing like crazy. Like all secrets, they are bound to come out. Reid, with the help of his family, wins her back. I love all the parts with the group texting with the brothers and sister.
