USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the third novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and laying your heart on the line.
What happens when your secret crush isn’t so secret anymore?
I’ve had feelings for Eve Roberts for as long as I can remember, but because she also happens to be the twin sister of my best friend, Eric, I’ve never … my best friend, Eric, I’ve never acted on my feelings and long ago resigned myself to keeping my crush under wraps.
But after a terrible falling-out with Eric involving a failed restaurant venture and plenty of blame on both sides, I’m back in Port Snow without my best friend and without any direction. But can you guess who’s here? Eve. And my attraction to her is as strong as ever.
As old feelings rush back, Eve and I find ourselves pulled together, whether we like it or not. Lines are crossed, secrets are kept, and we soon discover that the difference between love and friendship may not be so black and white, after all.
Everyone wants that secret crush to love them back…but will I be ready when she does?

Only Meghan Quinn can take the same story about 4 crazy brothers and make you read it 3 different ways (until Brig’s story completes the 4th) and STILL have you crack up at each retelling, showing you something new with each POV.
I love the Knightly family and if I could be a part of a fictional family they are high on my life. Their family group chat will you crying laughing while reading. The antics this family gets into are just the best.
My heart broke for poor Reid but Eve was perfection for what our broken hero needed.
I cannot wait for Brig’s book. Bring on the Knightlys and the fudge.

The Knightly men are at it again. Reid has been by far my favorite. I love his embellishments on his stories, his crazy antics, his perverted thoughts and action. He is just something else.
The emotional turmoil that Reid goes through breaks my heart but if anyone could handle his highs and lows, it’s Eve.
Eve is amazing! She is strong, independent, and doesn’t put up with anyone’s attitude. She dishes out comebacks better than anyone. She seriously is my hero.
Love these two together, a childhood friendship/best friend’s sister to lovers story with a few twists and turns in between.
The narrators help the characters come alive in an already strong story. They give it that extra to make them just so real.
Can’t wait for Brig’s story!
Audio review:
William and Reese once again nailed the narration!
I absolutely LOVED Reid and Eve’s story.
It was sweet, sexy and just soooo epic at the end.
The family chats had me cracking up. Those boys are hilarious
4 stars!
Reid and Eve have the BEST friends to lovers romance. This is signature Meghann Quinn, with hilarious antics, sexy banter, low drama and high on feels.
These two have amazing chemistry, it was slow burn and I ate it up!
The Knightly family are such a fun bunch. I love them and their easy comrade with each other.
I loved the growth with Eve and her brother, Eric. It’s a journey all on it’s one and added so much to this story.
The end left me needing more and absolutely desperate for Brigs story next. I cannot wait!
In That Secret Crush, after being cursed with broken love and losing his restaurant on the same night, Reid Knightly finds himself back in his hometown trying to figure things out. Eve Roberts is also there, the girl he’s had feelings for forever, but she’s his best friend Eric’s sister, so nothing can happen there, right? Turns out Eve has also been crushing on Reid and things heat up quickly after a few shots and a dance at the local bar…u2063

I loved this couple! Reid and Eve couldn’t get enough of each other and their chemistry and heat was off the charts! Eve is a strong female lead who has gone through more than most people to get where she is and has come out stronger on the other side. Reid is a sweetheart and is there for her, even when her brother wasn’t, and it just made my heart melt!u2063

Reid had to learn to trust himself again after his failure. With the help of a new opportunity to get back into the kitchen to continue his dream, we get to watch his confidence rebuild. I did get more than a little frustrated when he decides to listen to Eric instead of his own feelings…but in true Knightly style, he definitely redeems himself.u2063

For those wondering, the sibling text group was again, on point! u2063
So this was one of my Quarantine purchases. Partly because I hadn’t had the chance to read it early because I think it came out in the midst of the second wave of the SmartyPants Romance book launches. But I knew I had to read it, and I needed to read it before the next book comes out in case I got the chance to read that early. I loved Reid. I really want a funny guy like him, or like Jason in Quinn’s baseball series. She writes the best funny guys. But he got a little irritating when he kept holding out. Now, I think that Eve was a little overboard in how she reacted to why he tried to stop to save his friendship, but then again, isn’t that what the drama in a romance is always about? In the end I loved this as much as all the others in the series. And the text conversations between all the family members is some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever read. Also, I can’t wait for Brig’s book even more after this. Oh yeah, and that baked beans sandwich, well except for the apple part, sounded DELICIOUS! Who will make me one?
There is just something about these Knightly boys that they get into the depths of your soul.
Reid doesn’t know his own self-worth and is his own biggest critic. He no longer has the spark to do what he used to, he lost it all and wants no part of that again… until one night with Eve. Reid finally gives in to his secret crush on Eve and makes the move. Their connection is explosive in a good way. Being childhood friends means he knows all her tells and signs. He’s there for her when she needs him.
But Eve is so good for him. She knows how to bring out his self worth that he doesn’t see and puts things into perspective for him that he forgets. She grounds him. The perfect match to his crazy, happy go lucky self. She’s kick butt and not taking crap kinda gal. She’s strong when Reid needs her. The perfect ying and yang couple.
If you’re looking for a character that has no filter and can show his obnoxious side in a hilarious way, along with a connection of two characters that just brings out your romantic heart, then this story is for you.
I won this book through a Goodreads Giveaway and was not required to submit a review. I thought I had read some of Meghan Quinn’s other books but looking at her backlist it appears I have not. That is soon to be rectified as I freaking loved this book! First of all, this is a friends to lovers trope which I love. Next it is based in a small town – another plus. The main characters Eve and Reid have had crushes on each other since they were kids, but due to life and other circumstances never acknowledged them to each other.
Eve has spent years in her hometown of Port Snow taking care of her ailing parents while her twin brother went out to find his way. His best friend Reid who also left Port Snow with him had returned three years earlier after a devasting business failure and is not open to trying anything again in life and is basically just getting by much to the dismay of his family.
Eve and Reid finally have their moment and their feelings come to light. The story moves quickly from there and it is full of the usual family interference and fraught with angst. All the things I adore!
I give this book four stars and look forward to reading book one and two in this series!
3.5 stars. Sweet and funny, I enjoyed Reid and Eve’s story. I do wish there were more details, though – we barely know what any of the characters look like (besides the Knightly’s blue eyes), most of the supporting cast seem one-dimensional, and beyond the fact that Port Snow is a small coastal town in Maine, we don’t know much about it either. Tell me more about the town, the residents, Reid and Eve and Eric’s childhood.
I absolutely LOVE the Getting Lucky series! Meghan Quinn has created a small town that I desperately want to live in. The location, the eccentric characters and the Knightly’s are all perfection. That Secret Crush is Reid Knightly’s story and it’s everything you’ve come to expect from this author. Reid’s best friend’s twin sister is his love interest and they start out as friends but develop into more. The story is hilariously funny (yes, I laughed out loud and even snorted once or twice!) and super sexy. Reid and Eve can’t keep their hands off of one another and their story is super hot! I loved their chemistry and easy banter and their shared history makes their connection that much stronger. With secrets, laughs and lots of sexy times, this book is perfection! 5 stars
I didn’t like this book nearly as well as the previous two in the series. Reid was a real jerk most of the time and he just didn’t set my heart aflutter or do anything for my mind at all. Eve deserved better, even if she had been in love with him forever.
I really want to live in my very own Port Snow. I fall more and more in love with the Knightly brothers with each book.
This time around we have Reid and Eve. Reid and Eve have both had secret crushes on each other since they we kids but Reid would never act on it because Eve is his best friend Eric’s twin sister. But now Reid and Eric’s dreams of running their own restaurant has died and Reid is back in Port Snow and his best friend status may be dead along with their dreams. While Reid has never acted on his feelings for Eve it doesn’t stop his constant flirting and potty mouth around her and then one night she invites him back to her place and things are definitely no longer just friends. But when you try to keep secrets and mix business with pleasure things are bound to blow up in your face. Now Reid has to make things right with Eve but also her twin Eric.
Oh how I loved this story and the banter between Eve and Reid. It definitely had me laughing out loud numerous times.
Meghan Quinn writes fantastic characters. I love this entire series.
I really enjoyed this book! It had me laughing out loud! I loved the chemistry between Reid and Eve! This is my favorite book in the series! I would highly recommend this book!!! Then again you cant go wrong with a Meghan Quinn book!
Arc given for an honest review.
I love this book it was funny laugh out loud and I love Brig he is sensitive almost girly but so cute great love story
I so enjoy the Knightly brothers. Each one is utterly swoon-worthy in their own way. Reid and Eve’s story falls within the brother’s sister/best friend-to-lovers category.
In the town of Port Snow everyone knows everything about everyone. Gossip spreads faster than a wildfire, so it’s crazy the these two had no clue about the crush they each held for the other although it was apparent to everyone else.
Their friendship quickly transforms into much more and it’s everything they could have hoped for. But as you’d expect things get complicated…
This was a wonderfully sweet romance. Funny and emotional with the perfect level of steam. I loved it and I CANNOT wait for Brig’s story!!!
Loved this book!!! Great Read! Held me in my seat wanting to read more from start to finish! This book is about Reid and Eve mostly Reid though cause he’s got to figure himself out. But What I really enjoyed about this book is the bantering between all the characters. Not only Reid with all his siblings but also between him and Eve it keeps the story interesting and moving along.

Broken curse or curse of the broken?
The Knightly brothers have one for everyone…or if you are greedy like me…4 for you!
Each brother has his own demons, insecurities, or problems. They all seem to blame THE CURSE. What a curse!?!?! Goes to show New Orleans isn’t quite as safe as they thought!
Broken by more than a curse, Reid clings to what he feels he deserves. Beaten down by failure, guilt, and the loss of his best friend and dream, he exists. However, there is a bright side to his eeyore lifestyle…Eve. Eve Roberts, the star in all his childhood fantasies and even his adult ones, is his new best friend…sort of. Taking up the mantle her brother shucked off, Eve is a support he never realized he needed. Together, they work. They are there for each other and well the intense chemistry is just a side effect …until they let it consume them.
I am totally #TeamEve. Lol. You will be too. (For the haters, Team Eve doesn’t we don’t need her with Reid. It means she deserves the best!)
Are they broken or is the curse?
Poor Brig, looks like he’s going to be in lonely town for a long time because Reid is taken. Port Snow’s Hen Line is going to be hopping after that big declaration. Also, Walter…not cool dude, not cool.
I love these Knightly Brothers so much. Meghan does not disappoint.
Reid, Eve and Eric had been best friends since Eve and Eric moved to town. They are twins and when Reid and Eric left town to start their restaurant Eve moved on.
This book is all about 2 secret crushes and their chemistry is explosive.
Loved this book so much and this family.
I did not read the previous books, so read it as a stand alone, but the author gave plenty of backstory so that this was not a problem.
This was a very amusing story about 3 friends that grew up together in a small Maine town, Port Snow. Eric and Eve Roberts are twins and Reid is Eric’s best friend. Reid and Eve have crushed on each other for as long as they remember, not realizing that the other felt the same way, but there is Eric and the bro code that has kept them apart. Reid has 3 boisterous brothers and a sister, who provide lots of comedy to the story. Reid and Eris both learned to love cooking at the Knightly home kitchen, went off to culinary school together and opened a restaurant in Boston. But they needed someone to handle the business part of the restaurant, Bar 79, and hired Janelle, Eric’s girlfriend as the business manager. The Knightly brothers went to New Orleans to celebrate Brig’s 21 birthday and crossed a old palm reader, who they believe put a curse on them, about love. That same evening, Eric calls to tell Reid that Janelle had stolen all their money, had not been paying bills and empty all their bank accounts, but could not be prosecuted, because she was a partner. This part did not make sense, because why would the business manager be a partner and even if she was, she could still be prosecuted. But they had to close and both fell into despair.
Meanwhile, Eve had dreams of her own, but stayed at home taking care of her parents, working and slowly taking classes to finish her own degree in business management. Three years after Bar 79 closed, Reid has not done any cooking, is living in a boat catching lobster and feeling lost. But when the anniversary of the death of Mr Roberts and Eric does not come home, Reid is there for Eve. They slowly start secret dating, and they are good for each other. But when an opportunity arrives for the three of them to work together, Eric threatens to blow it up if Reid doesn’t break it off with Eve.
I liked the characters and the story, as I especially like second chance stories. Great banter between the siblings and the various couples. But I felt that Reid and Eve’s relationship was one in which he would have told Eve the truth and they would have handled Eric together. Also, half the book seemed to be sex scenes, which was a bit too much for me.
I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
