USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn delivers a smart and cheeky romance about love’s power to lift hearts . . . and curses. It was supposed to be an innocent night, celebrating my brother’s birthday. Nothing was supposed to go wrong. We’d vowed to be on our best behavior after all . . .But it only took one rowdy night with my brothers to flip my world upside down. One unlucky encounter … world upside down. One unlucky encounter saddled us with a family curse and the promise of doomed relationships. I laughed it off immediately. “Yeah, right,” I thought. “A love curse. Ha!”
Boy, was I wrong.
Word spreads quickly in a town like mine; rumors about that night soon made us the most eligible yet untouchable bachelors in Port Snow, Maine. As a subject of endless gossip and speculation, I could kiss my dating life goodbye.
It would have stayed that way if Ren Winters, the new girl in town, hadn’t crashed into my life. Brave, beautiful, and smart—her vivacious thirst for a fresh start has given me hope that maybe, just maybe, I can have one too.
Everyone wishes for that second chance . . . but could this really be mine?

So many good things in this book! I love when a story is set in a small town, especially one in Maine. The author described this touristy town so well that I want to live there and I want to get to know each and every member of this town.
Another bonus was that the hero had 3 brothers and a sister who all butted into his life constantly. They were a fun addition to this book and I can’t wait until we get a book on each of the brothers.
Our main couple, Ren and Griffin were adorable together. As you read in the blurb, there is a curse associated with Griffin and his brothers. Because of this, most of the book is about these two dancing around a friendship that they both want to take to the next level.
Griffin is gun shy and he has a good reason for it. I’m not usually one who likes it if a character keeps the other at a distance but it’s a very small distance. They spend a lot of time together getting to know each other and that made me happy to experience it with them. I truly felt like we got a good amount of them together despite not being a couple for most of it.
All the characters in this series were fun and like-able. I’m looking forward to the next book!
If by some miracle you avoid falling for Griffin, I guarantee you will be swept away by his family. And the town…sigh, there’s even more encouragement to fall and fall hard.
That Second Chance is a small town romance with quirky people, helicopter families, and too many brothers! Ok, not really but when they hang up on you it feels that way!
It’s sweet and everything you need to give you warm fuzzies. Small town living and nosy neighbors with a rampant rumor mill make this town a gem for awkward situations. Add in some delicious eye candy…in quadruple and well, I’m moving to Port Snow.

5 star review of That Second Chance (Getting Lucky #1) by Meghan Quinn
I was so excited when I learnt that Meghan Quinn was starting a new series about the Knightly brothers and couldn’t wait to dive in.
What a great read this one was; I was hooked from the first chapter to the last and couldn’t put this book down; I was totally immersed in the story that Meghan Quinn wove and Port Snow, Maine (love the name).
I had so many laugh out loud moments reading this book that I am sure the people around me thought I was a lunatic. There is absolutely nothing that I would change about That Second Chance, I loved it.
The chemistry between Griffin Knightly and Ren Winters was electrifying and you could almost feel it as you were reading. I loved the camaraderie between Griffin and his younger brother and parents.
Griffin was such a charismatic hero that I couldn’t help but fall for him. I loved how feisty and sassy Ren is; in fact I just loved everything about the characters and the story.
That Second Chance ticked all the boxes for me, it is a story of love, hope and acceptance and was at times a bit of an emotional roller coaster and I cannot wait for more in this exciting new series.
Ms. Quinn can write no wrong!
This story has everything that is classic Meghan Quinn. You get heart, you get heat and you get hilarity.
I am so in love with the Knightly family! And this story introduces us to them all! While this story centers around Griffin Knightly you also get a feel for every family member.
The fictional town of Port Snow is just magical! Ms. Quinn’s writing puts the reader right on Main Street. Grabbing a cup of coffee at Snow Road or getting some delicious crab cakes at Jake’s Cakes you feel like you are right there! That is such a testament to the fantastic writing of an amazing author. The picture she paints with her words is just perfect and scenic!
You get a bit of angst with this story too, which I am a fan of. It’s not all hearts and flowers. It feels real and sometimes heartbreaking, but it makes the story so much more.
I cannot wait to read more from this lovely little town and the lovely families that inhabit it. This is just the beginning of what I hope to be multiple stories from this town and the Knightly family!
I have said this before, but it’s worth saying again….you cannot go wrong with reading a Meghan Quinn story!
Sweet and sexy start to a new series. Port Snow is a town I want to be a resident of. Loved and connected with Ren from the start. She and Griffin had such chemistry. Can’t wait for more of these Knightly Brothers.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
Avoidance can only get him so far. And that is a lesson that Griffin will have no choice but to learn with the help of a meddling family and a naturally kind woman. When Ren arrives in town she does it with a bang and when Griffin meets her he doesn’t know what hit him. Ren is refreshing for him. She is resilient and feels so comfortable around him that it allows her to be a free version of herself without worries. Without holding back. He is a sweetheart with everyone around town, and a charming strong protective man with her. And with their flirty conversations and openness she creates a zone for him to feel safe and experience happiness again around her.
You will see the progress happen in this book very slowly because he is a stubborn man driven by fears. But because of that, you will read how they become friends first. How they build a strong relationship. One that has no room for half invested feelings. One were the word temporary doesn’t exist, even if there is doubt about how to act on it, there is no doubt about the feelings behind it.
Loved it!
This is my first book by Meghan Quinn.

A sweet, extremely funny small town romance. I love small town romance, everyone knows everyone’s business, and it normally includes a family with lots of siblings. That Second Chance is just that. The gossip chain in the town is rife, Chinese whispers at best. It is not however a second chance romance, no, it’s a second chance at love for hunky part time fireman Griffin Knightly (I just love the name). A little bit of friends to lovers (only because stubborn Griffin refuses to believe he deserves a second chance, all because of a stupid, stupid curse). A wonderful story with fantastic characters, the Knightly family are hilarious, I just love their meddling. I am so looking forward to more in this series. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
I love small town romances with quirky, funny families so this first book in the Getting Lucky series hit all the marks for me. The very vivid descriptions of Port Snow, Maine and all its charm was icing on the cake. I fell hard for every single Knightly brother and can’t wait to read each of their stories, but I have to say Griffin will be hard to beat! I loved the interaction and banter between him and Ren — lots of laugh out loud moments interspersed with sexy times. That opening scene was so hysterically funny that I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. This was a heartwarming, sweet & sexy read from an author who is new to me — I know, I know — surprising since she’s written quite a few, but now that I’ve experienced her writing, I’ll definitely be reading more from her, specifically Rogan’s story which I believe is next!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
We got a little snippet of the Knightly brothers in Two Wedding Crashers so I was so glad they get their own series. Griffin is absolutely yummy. He is still dealing with a huge loss and doesn’t want any entanglements. Ren crashes into town, literally, and his life is never the same. The scene of him helping her was so vivid and funny. Griffin fought his attraction so hard….fortunately for Ren it was a losing battle! Great start to the Knightly Brothers series!
This was such a feel good romance. I had a smile on my face through most of the story, but there were some laugh out loud spots and moments of sadness. Not super angsty, kind of a slow burn, an all around enjoyable read with likeable characters and the start to what I can tell will be a great series.
Ren seems kind of accident prone, which is a bad combo matched with Griffin, the guy who thinks he’s cursed in love. These two are insanely cute, together and apart, and he’s basically a one man welcoming committee for different aspects of the small town. I love their meddling families- these two are just perfect for each other. This here is just good romance, plain and simple.
4.5 Moose Stars. I really enjoyed this story. Starts off with a bang and keeps you hooked until the end. Laugh out loud and swoon worthy moments as well as a fantastic supporting cast. Loved the chemistry and banter between Griffin and Ren. Definitely a fun and light read and so worth it.
What a great start to a new series! The Knightly brothers went to New Orleans to celebrate youngest brother Brig’s 21st Birthday. During their drunken revelry, they encounter a fortune teller who ends up cursing their love life. None of them took it seriously until they were back five days and an event occurs that cements their reputation in the town of Port Snow, Maine as cursed and un-datable. Two years have passed and oldest brother Griffin saves new teacher in town, Ren Winters, from an encounter from a suicidal moose. Of course, the attraction is instant. Will they be able to defy the curse? I loved the Knightly family! Griffin and Ren were a great couple, and watching their relationship grow was fun. I cannot wait to see the rest of the brothers break the curse as well! I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
This book is the first one I read by this author, and have now become a fan.
The premise of the series is a curse given to the four Knightly brothers during a drunken weekend in New Orleans. When days after Griffin, the oldest, loses his young wife, they all believe that the curse set on them will keep them from ever getting their HEA.
Two years later, Ren Winters is driving into town when a car accident sends Griffin, a volunteer firefighter , to her rescue. Thus begins a sweet, but fragile relationship.
While their story was touching, it’s the family dynamics, both the Knightly’s as the Winters’, that make this story special. The author creates a quaint small town in Maine, filled with interesting inhabitants.
With an engaging plot and complex characters, this story and I foresee others in the series, will keep the readers entertain for a long time.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
The Second Chance by Meghan Quinn was full of all the feels, with an amazing family dynamic. This author did an amazing job with the whole small town romance trope, it felt like I was reading something out of Pleasantville. She also did a great job showcasing what the little town was all about, down to what it looked like. I don’t know if this is a real place, but with the descriptions that was made, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. She is a very talented author, and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style. She made it fun, and flirty with the perfect amount of depth, that was enough to get you all up in your feels. I also enjoyed the dual pov, it makes it so much easier for myself to truly understand the thought process of each character.
While I honestly did enjoy this story, a couple of things did irk me, and that is why there is a 4 STAR review, perhaps it could just be my preferences that is the issue lol. I truly did love the characters, but one was a little bit more complex to me. I don’t really feel like the character development went as far as it could have. Another issue I had, was the way one characters showcased his/her feelings, it felt immature to me, because this person knew it was bound to happen, and yet acted a bit irrationally to me.
Griffin is the oldest brother. He is the mature one that keeps his younger siblings out of trouble. He hopes to one day take over the family business, but in the meantime enjoys being a volunteer firefighter and helping out his town with miscellaneous things.
Ren is originally from Los Angeles, and sets out on a journey to make life her B****. She has an unhealthy obsession with math, and enjoys teaching the little ones the magical elements of it. She is quirky and awkward, but also has a bubbly personality.
All it took was one rowdy night to change the course of these siblings life including Griffin’s. When a second chance slaps him in the face, is he brave enough to accept it at face value, or is the risk to BIG?
*I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK
