That Second Chance was a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, and charming standalone contemporary romance, and I absolutely loved it! Meghan Quinn captured my heart with the storyline and characters, and I loved her writing style and sense of humor. That Second Chance was a fabulous start to the Getting Lucky series, and I can’t wait to read the next standalone, That Forever Girl!
The storyline was wonderful. The plot was unique, fun, and entertaining, with plenty of heart, heat, humor, and swoon-worthy romance to go around. I enjoyed nearly every moment of Griffin and Ren’s story from beginning to end, and was very pleased with the conclusion.
The characters were fantastic. I fell in love with Griffin, Ren, and all of the residents of Port Snow, Maine. Griffin and Ren were very lovable and relatable characters, and I felt an instant connection with them. I loved their personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and how most of their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Griffin and Ren’s point of view, and most of their banter and interactions with each other. Griffin and Ren’s families and the rest of the townspeople of Port Snow were amazing as well, and I loved the humor and entertainment they added to the story.
That Second Chance was a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, MUST READ romance from Meghan Quinn, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! I fell head over heels in love with the quaint and charming small town of Port Snow, Maine, and all of its residents, and I can’t wait to continue the Getting Lucky series of interconnected standalones with That Forever Girl!
I love a good Meghan Quinn book. She can write a story that’s funny, sweet and serious all in one go. I loved the vibe of this book, from the small seaside town, to the nosy town folk, all the way to the tight knit family feel. I may have a small crush on everyone of the Knightly Brothers.
Griffin and Ren were absolutely adorable. I loved their chemistry. I loved how they met! The banter between Ren and all of the brothers was also priceless. This was a great read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!
That Second Chance is a great start to the Getting Lucky series. Griffin Knightly and his brothers have been unlucky in the romance department every since a curse was put upon them by a palm reader. No woman in their small town in Maine wants anything to do with them. Until Ren, the new girl who comes crashing (literally) into town and Griffin’s life. Ren is funny, quirky and adorable as can be. Griffin has grown a hard heart when it comes to love however, as much as he thinks he’s immune to her charm, he quickly finds that Ren is simply irresistible.
I love a good second chance at love story and That Second Chance was everything and more. The plot was engaging and consistent with relatable characters. I couldn’t get enough of Griffin and Ren as they were lovely and delightful with amazing chemistry. Their witty banter and hilarious interactions were quite entertaining. I also loved the camaraderie that the Knightly brothers had. Rogan, Reid and Brig were hilarious secondary characters and I’m looking forward to reading their books.
What a journey! Griffin the tortured hero, taking the weight and blame of the family’s problems on himself. That got me way down deep. I think I’d have believed in curses if I were him, too many things lining up as they did. Thank goodness Ren saw through it and was able to hold his hand and show him the way even if she didn’t know how to articulate it. I loved this sweet sexy ride, and I hope we get more stories about Griffin’s brothers and how they will beat the curse.
Griffin and his brothers going out to celebrate one of their birthdays. They are having the time of their life until they break a fortune tellers table and she claims they’ll suffer. When Griffin experiences a horrible loss, he closes himself off from love. All his brothers do the same but then Ren moves yo town for a new teacher job. Can he keep his wall up? Will Ren be able to get him to love again?
This isn’t my first book by Meghan Quinn and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved this book and was reading to go visit Port Snow, Maine. She painted such a vivid picture of a beautiful, small town and all it’s little shops I could picture it in my mind and it was perfect.
Not only is the town pretty much perfect, but it is also home to the Knightly brothers unfortunately to the rest of the town those brothers are cursed and should be avoided at all costs. When Ren crashes into the Port Snow, and I mean literally crashes, she quickly strikes up a friendship with the volunteer firefighter who saves her. Gavin has had his heart broken, he didn’t want a relationship, he believed so strongly in the curse placed upon him and his brothers while on a trip to New Orleans, but there was no denying the chemistry between him and Ren. Plus, his families meddling ways. Will Gavin continue to let the Knightly brothers curse control his life or will he follow his heart?
I loved Ren and Gavin’s easy-going friendship, turned relationship, or semi-relationship. Their chemistry was amazing and everyone could see it. The ENTIRE Knightly family was AMAZING. I want to sign up to be an honorary sibling. Each brother had something different, plus their sister Jen was great and their parents were hilarious, loving and supportive of all their children.
I can’t wait to return back to Port Snow and to get more of the INSANELY gorgeous Knightly brothers.
Readers will find themselves charmed by this romance of second chances as a sweet and sexy man, still grieving the loss of his wife, finds his heart reawakened the moment he saves the new teacher in town. From there it’s a slow burn as the two of them grow closer together, morphing from friends to lovers, before a reminder of his past puts their HEA in doubt.
The Knightly brothers are a sexy bunch who are doomed to being alone after a life-altering encounter with an angry palm reader in New Orleans years ago. With a curse hanging over them that they’ll never have true love, the women of their hometown keep them at arm’s length despite how tempting the four brothers are. For Griffin, being left alone is just what he wants as he still carries guilt over the death of his wife. In the years since she died, he’s buried himself in work and activities that bring the inhabitants of his hometown together. He’s put aside everything else though as he doesn’t want another woman to be hurt for loving him. Meeting the vivacious Ren though is too much of a temptation and even as he tries to remain just friends, his heart and his family push him towards her in a sweet journey full of sexual tension. Griffin’s an immensely appealing hero with a kind heart and a deep loyalty to family. While many young people find small towns dull, he embraces every aspect of small town living and strives to make the whole town a success. When it comes to romance though he’s less than successful because of his own fears and self-doubts. I understand his grief early on, but once he claimed Ren I found his pushing her away late in the story to be a big disappointment. I expected better from this truly good guy and wish he’d had to grovel more when trying to make amends. Despite that one moment of frustration, I really liked Griffin and found Ren to be a good match for him.
After recovering from a near-death experience Ren Winters decides it’s finally time to start living. She decides the perfect way to do that is to start over elsewhere and chooses the quaint and picturesque town of Port Snow to make a new life for herself. It’s a place far from the big city hustle and bustle, a place where she can leave her mark and make a close-knit group of friends like she’s never had before. Her introduction to the town though involves her new car hitting a moose which leads to her being saved by the sexy Griffin Knightly in a heroic act that changes both of their lives irrevocably. From there she forms a friendship with the romantically reluctant Griffin, a sweet connection that endeared both of them to me, before he gives into her. Ren’s a very likable heroine, kindhearted, with a joyous vibe to her. For too long she’s let others help her and now’s the time she starts living by her own rules. Ren’s a breath of fresh air, someone who’s clearly embracing her new life to the fullest, and I found myself rooting for her every step of the way. She knew she wanted Griffin from the start but never pushed him too far as she could sense his pain. Once they made the leap to lovers though she became quite the little sex kitten, which belied her good girl demeanor and made me like her all the more for going after what she wanted. When it came to Griffin pushing her away, after an event that was predictable in my opinion, I just wish she’d made him work a bit harder for her forgiveness as what he did and said was hurtful. Despite that I liked this vivacious heroine and the happiness with everything around her that exuded from her. She’s the kind of heroine you can see yourself being friends with and she was a delightful addition to the town of Port Snow.
From the first page to the last this was a sweet and sexy read with likable characters and interactions that put a smile on my face. The main couple’s relationship grew slowly which had me chewing at the bit for them to finally turn up the heat…which was ultimately well worth the wait. Though their separation towards the end was predictable it didn’t detract from my joy in reading this as Griffin’s brothers gave me reason to smile through my frustration. On a whole Griffin and Ren were a great match and I was fully invested in their journey to HEA. Surrounding this appealing main couple was an equally likable cast of secondary characters. Among those characters are the other Knightly brothers…Rogan (the serious one), Reid (the playboy), and Brig (the funny one) who endeared themselves to me through their playful antics and witty banter with each other. This was a family who always had each other’s backs and who played matchmaker through many subtle words and deeds which made me smile. The city of Port Snow took on a life of its own too with its colorful denizens and local charm that has me longing to return, especially with an epilogue showing the return of Rogan’s high school sweetheart.
4.5 STARS
This book was the perfect mix of humour and crazy family antics, a deliciously slow burn romance packed full of emotion and a wee bit of angst. I truly enjoyed it and didn’t want to put it down. Ren moves to Port Snow to start over, and Griffin is reeling from a terrible loss and refusing to move on. Add in 4 crazy siblings and a town full of gossips and an overbearing mother and you have the makings of an excellent story. I cannot wait for the rest of the Knightly brothers books!
I love it when I stumble upon a new to me author and a great book that makes me smile and touches my heart. That’s exactly the case with Meghan Quinn and her book That Second Chance. Now I’m anxiously waiting to read more from her. I really enjoyed this fun filled book that gives us Ren and Griffin’s story. Ren was exactly the kind of woman needed to get Griffin living and loving again. Their story is full of humor with curses, a moose, and lots of witty banter. Definitely a recommended read.
Small town romance with characters and a story that will draw you in from the very first page. Meghan Quinn nailed it
That Second Chance, is the first book in Meghan Quinn’s new series, Getting Lucky, set in the small town of Port Snow, Maine. I am so in love with this story! I wanted to savor this story for as long as I could but at the same time, I read so fast because I couldn’t get enough of this beautiful world. The prologue had my heart completely broken but I knew better than to worry. I knew that by the time I was finished with the book, it would be put back together as the character’s heart was mended.
Ren Winters and Griffin Knightly’s meet-cute may be my favorite of all time! I don’t want to spoil it for you but let me just say Ren literally crashes into Griffin’s life. Both of them are extremely relatable characters and it took me no time at all to fall in love with them and cheer them on in hopes of them finding their happily ever after.
The setting for this book is absolute perfection. I have never been to Maine but I have obsessed over pictures of the beautiful scenery for years. While reading I felt as if I were there in person with the characters in their charming small town. I could almost smell the ocean mixed with fudge while I stood in line at Lobster Landing, the Knightly’s shop downtown.
I’m so glad we get an entire series for the Knightly family. I quickly fell in love with the entire family in this first book and I can’t wait to watch the rest of the family get their happily ever afters. Don’t miss out on this emotional and heartwarming romance!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

I’m a Nola girl through and through and even I know don’t mess with the palm readers in the square even if you did drunkenly crash into them. Who knows what kind of juju they’ll put on you? This is what happened to the Knightly brothers and they have taken it to heart ever since. Especially when Griffin gets a call no husband wants to receive.
Griffin Knightly is the prince of Port Snow. Volunteer firefighter, running the family tourist shop and head of numerous committees. He has lived here his whole life and briefly thought about leaving but his family convinced him otherwise. He has been in a depression just going through the motions until he gets a phone call that changes his life. The beauty he rescues he tries to keep at arm’s length but it’s nearly impossible when everything about her calls to Griffin.
Ren Winter is on a journey of self-discovery. Proving to her parents that at 28 she’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself so she leaves LA for Port Snow where she is set to become the new algebra teacher. When a suicidal moose lands her in a ditch it’s the studly Griff that hauls her up a hill. She finds herself immersed and in love with this tiny town even the nosy neighbors and the gossips. She tries to remain friends with Griffin but it’s hard when he makes it so easy to fall in love with. When she learns his secrets she knows this is something he has to deal with in order to be with her.
I loved it!! It was a slow burn between these two. I mean hello Griffin!! He was the perfect gentleman, but he had a naughty streak that I liked. My heart ached for him and I was cheering him on from my recliner. Ren’s mama is a helicopter mom and it was cute but annoying. She’s almost 30 mama let her fly. The rest of the Knightly brothers stole my heart, but I want Rogan’s story the most. He has a secret and I bet it’s juicy. I just love all things Meghan Quinn and I believe some of the characters in this story have appeared in others. I want more….please???
That Second Chance is the first book in the Getting Lucky Series. Ren Winters has taken a new job. She will be the algebra teacher in Port Snow. Griffin works full time in the family business, Lobster Landing and he works as a part time volunteer fire fighter and first responder.
I love Griffin’s whole family. Oh Lordy, lordy there are 3 more Griffin’s. His younger brothers are Rogan (Realtor and landlord) Reid (also works part time at Lobster Landing) and Brig the youngest brother (mechanic and owner of the garage).
The Knightly boys all went partying on Brig’s 21st birthday and what they brought home was a love curse on all of them. Now they are the most untouchable bachelors in Port Snow, Maine.
Port Snow is a small tourist town and everyone and I mean everyone knows the others business. Gossip runs amok in Port Snow. I love these gossiping town folk. How one story gets so blown out of proportion. Griffin rescues Ren when a moose ran her car off the road. There are some LOL moments with all the gossip going around about how Griffin met Ren. I found myself chuckling out loud and then having to look around to see if anyone saw me.
You know the story with friends like that who needs enemies. Well who needs friends when one has brothers. It seems like all the Knightly boys keep pushing Ren on Griffin and all he can think about is the curse and not dating. Even though he doesn’t want anyone else to get Ren either.
I can’t wait for the next book in this new series! I am hoping that it will be Rogan’s turn to fall in love! If you haven’t discovered Meghan Quinn yet you need to. She writes with humor, love & romance. I think her books are all MUST READS!
Meghan Quinn has put together the beginning of another wonderful series as she takes us to the small town of Port Snow Maine! The people of this town will warm your heart, make you laugh and keep you wanting more!
The Second Chance is the first book in her new Getting Lucky series. Griffin has believed that he had a curse put on him and will never be happy in love, but when Ren literally crashes into his life he doesn’t know what hit him. Their easy friendship became so much more and Ren refused to give up on him as long as he was willing to open his heart up again and move in from his past.
I absolutely loved this book and am so excited for else is in store for the Knightly clan!
There is just something about small town stories that make your heart feel full and this book is no exception!
This story was absolutely charming, just like the town itself and Id definitely want to visit!
I laughed alot, sighed, swooned and to be quite honest this book was so much fun to read that I had a smile on my face as I read! I just loved everything about Griffin and his family! Holy hotness was that man and his brothers and I loved the way they were with each other! A true brotherhood! It was endearing and I wished I could be a part of the family! Does Griffin really believe the curse has tainted his life?
I loved Ren, she had overcome something and was making a new life for herself! Needless to say when she meets Griffin in an unconventional way, the chemistry these two have along with their budding friendship is something everyone should have!
I enjoyed the hell out if this book and cannot wait for more!
The heart and soul of this small town romance will capture you and not let you leave!!

Such a fun read, and a great start to a new series!
This one definitely ran the gamut of sweet, smexy and funny to making my eyes hurt from all the rolling they did due to frustration over certain characters issues, but it kept me turning the pages to see not only what was going to happen with Griffin and Ren, but to see just what the Knightly clan would do next as well as the inhabitants of Port Snow.
I loved Griffin. I did. This man is simply a good man. He loves his job, his family and his town and is an absolute sweetheart, but the guilt he is carrying around is insane. On one hand, I totally understood, but on the other hand…the need to reach out and Gibbs smack some sense into him was strong. Then there is Ren. I adored this woman. She decided she needed to live her own life and went for it. She’s sweet, snarky, sassy and even when the awkwards hit, it was adorable because it was all her and I loved how she gave as good as she got and when it was time to throw down, she did.
Their journey to their HEA, for the most part, was a lot of fun ~ and really, considering how they first collided, there was no other way for it to be. The attraction between them was instant, but due to Griffin’s issues, things built slowly between them and I loved watching as they became friends and found that there was more than just a physical attraction between them, though the physical was all KINDS of smexy between them. Of course there is that sinkhole that shows up in their journey. It was expected. It did not make me happy. And though I would have liked a little more grovelling, I have to say that in the end how everything worked out really was just right for them.
Ok, so…I have to admit that it took me a minute to realize that I had been in Port Snow before….like a few chapters in…and that I had been crossing my toes that we’d get to see the Knightly’s again (some #fangirl I am right?? It was in Two Wedding Crashers if you were wondering) But with that said, I loved getting lost in Port Snow and hanging out with all the inhabitants of the town. The small town vibe was strong. And as for the rest of the Knightly’s ~ I spent an equal amount of time wanting to hi five, Gibbs smack, and hug them all because they are all crazy and awesome in equal measure. I don’t have a favorite brother, but I am totally looking forward to Rogan’s book and all the crazy that will be coming!

I was so excited for a new series from Meghan Quinn and I was not disappointed, if That Second Chance is anything to go by this is going to be a hit series. What’s not to love about a small town romance centred around the Knightly Brothers well it’s gets better when this very talented author puts her own spin on small town romance.
This book has all the feels and it ticked every box, it’s funny, it’s romantic and it’s set in Port Snow even the name of the town is special, the chemistry the characters share is sizzling and the camaraderie this family share will have you wishing you had a family like theirs and once you add in a swoon worthy hero and a sassy heroine you really get a amazing read.
The story and the funny banter flows naturally but it’s not it’s sweetness and light there are a few bumps in the road that Griffin and Ren need to negotiate before they get their HEA. Can’t wait for the rest of this series and more from the Knightly family.
Get ready for a new series filled with romance, passion and even some magic voodoo by Meghan Quinn. We have Griffin Knightly who has it all family, friends and a love that seems forever. Then we have Ren Winters who by far is ready to live again. These two together started as friends but can see right away how right they belong together. I loved that Meghan Quinn shows us that with a little bit of magic love can overcome anything with a bit of faith. The love he has is strong but like all men he can be an idiot at times. This is one series that is already becoming a favorite for this reader and there is 4 of these sexy Knightly brothers. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
I love everything about this book!! From the sweet romance between Ren and Griffin, to the witty banter between Griffin and his brothers, to the beautiful and peaceful depiction of the quaint coastal Maine town which is the setting for the book. Meghan Quinn is a masterful storyteller and with every word she has written, you are invited into a magical story of love, hope and second chances.
Griffin and his brothers are convinced that the curse cast upon them by the New Orleans palm reader has brought them bad luck in the dating world. He was content with being alone and didn’t think he would meet someone who could change his mind. As a volunteer fireman he is often involved in dangerous situations and when a crazy moose caused a car accident, he was there to save the day. He rescued the beautiful Ren and bravely carried her to safety. Even though they had an instant attraction, Griffin wasn’t sure he could take a chance on a relationship with Ren because he was afraid something bad would happen to her.
Ren felt the same way about Griffin and wanted to get to know him better, but he seemed to want to keep her in the friend zone. She sensed he was interested in her too, so she decided to make the first move. What could possibly happen? Moving to Maine was the beginning of the next chapter in her life, and she hoped Griffin was on the same page.
I loved Port Snow. What a great small town where everybody knows your business. Not that I would want that for myself, but what a great community. I really enjoyed Ren and Griffin. Those two had some serious chemistry between them. So many great moments between them. I also loved that there are 3 other brothers and I can’t wait to read their stories.
