USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn delivers a smart and cheeky romance about love’s power to lift hearts . . . and curses. It was supposed to be an innocent night, celebrating my brother’s birthday. Nothing was supposed to go wrong. We’d vowed to be on our best behavior after all . . .But it only took one rowdy night with my brothers to flip my world upside down. One unlucky encounter … world upside down. One unlucky encounter saddled us with a family curse and the promise of doomed relationships. I laughed it off immediately. “Yeah, right,” I thought. “A love curse. Ha!”
Boy, was I wrong.
Word spreads quickly in a town like mine; rumors about that night soon made us the most eligible yet untouchable bachelors in Port Snow, Maine. As a subject of endless gossip and speculation, I could kiss my dating life goodbye.
It would have stayed that way if Ren Winters, the new girl in town, hadn’t crashed into my life. Brave, beautiful, and smart—her vivacious thirst for a fresh start has given me hope that maybe, just maybe, I can have one too.
Everyone wishes for that second chance . . . but could this really be mine?

This one is amazing heartbreaking read. I loved it. Really, it was soooo good, funny full of family drama, great characters and amazing love story. Griffin and Ren are both great with amazing chemistry. I can’t wait to see the next brother to destroys the curse. Great read. RECOMMENDED
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
What a wonderful start to Quinn’s new Getting Lucky series. This sweet and emotional series about the Knightly brothers, takes place in the small coastal town of Port Snow, Maine. This tight knit community is filled with close friends and family who are fun, quirky, nosy, and totally supportive. The kind of place that draws you in and makes you feel right at home. This first story is about Griffin and Ren. After a drunken encounter with his brothers and a fortune teller in New Orleans, Griffin is the first to suffer loss and begin to believe in the fortune tellers curse. He has closed himself off to the possibility of love. When Ren moves in from LA to be the new algebra teacher, she crashes into Griffin’s life. He can’t stop thinking about the sweet and sassy woman who can hold her own against his meddling brothers. But his guilt makes him keep her at a distance. Ren is patient tho, and as she grows more in love with the town and it’s quirky residents, she hopes her friendship with the sweet and sexy Griffin will grow into love as well.
I loved Ren and Griffin, and thought they were so perfect together. I also love their friends and family who are authentic, funny, and not very subtle in their meddling. I was totally engaged in this fun, sexy, and heartfelt romance and am intrigued by the set up to Rogan’s story next! I can’t wait for more from Port Snow!
I’m a sucker for a new Quinn book. She always has these amazing characters, that you can’t help but love.
Griffin has been mourning for a while. Blaming himself for something that he had no control over — just going through the motions. Ren is moving to a small town, to start that new chapter in her life she so desperately needs. There’s a funny story to their meeting. But I’m not going to give that away. I feel it’s essential that other readers get a chance to read this story themselves.
There’s a huge lesson in this story. Sometimes we blame ourselves for things that are out of our control. We shouldn’t, and Griffin has to figure his way out of that. So he can finally be happy, be at peace. I loved this little town and his family. There’s so much love that surrounds them. I can’t wait for the second one.
Overall, Five Boundless Stars
Griffin Knightly is at a great point in his life, being married to Claire and celebrating his brother’s birthday in New Orleans. Yet in an instant everything changes when the brothers make a bad decision but it isn’t until after that he realizes the impact.
Now every girls avoids him and his brothers like the plague but when the new algebra teacher, Ren Winters, comes to town he wonders if this could be his second chance at happiness.
This was such an awesome book and I loved it from start to finish.
I felt terrible for Griffin after what happened in New Orleans then what occurred when he got home. I could see why he through the curse was true and how he never wanted to go through anything like that again. He involved himself with the running of the family business and also got heavily involved as a volunteer firefighter and several other organizations around town.
Ren Winters was such a great character and I felt bad that she had such a bad accident and needed to get away from her parents to have a chance at some freedom. The moose incident was so funny yet at the same time with everything else that happened in the past I was worried about Ren.
I loved the friendship that began between Griffin and Ren and how it started off somewhat slowly but everyone else recognized the chemistry between them. The camping trip was absolutely awesome and I loved it!! I cracked up so hard though when his brothers “blocked” him by saying he could work upon returning to town. Then the arrival of Ren’s parents just capped it off and I laughed!!
The beach scene was hot and I was so happy that things finally got heated up!
There were so many laughs with Griffin’s family and how they went about different things. They put so many laughs in the book and kept everyone on their toes.
The twist towards the end I kind of expected but not the way it happened. I wasn’t surprised that Griffin ran for the hills as it reminded him too much of the past. I was glad that Griffin finally confronted the past and learned the truth.
The end was excellent and I can’t wait for more in this series!!
Amazing Book. The Knightly Brothers and their Sister were awesome. Griffin, my goodness what can I say. Heart throb. And Ren she had me when she wrecked her car. I was laughing with is book and was telling Griffin to get over himself and just be with Ren. What a great book. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Ren & Griffin are mooserific!! This is a really great romcom w/ lots of feels & LOTS of laughs! I love the family that comes along w/ Griffin, the way Ren meets everyone, and how the town is really its own character. Fabulous read!! : )
I absolutely loved this adorable story with its fabulous characters, quaint setting, intriguing storyline and sweet romance.
Port Snow, Maine really seems like a perfect small town, I totally fell in love with and understood how Ren Winters did as well. Coming from California it was totally opposite what she was used to but a new start was just what the doctor ordered, so to speak. Griffin Knightly certainly thought Ren was a wonderful new addition to his town too.
Good humour with such a fabulous sense of fun, especially the banter between the brothers, really enhances this story. Likewise there is a serious side that is handled well too.
These two lead characters had such great chemistry and an almost automatic camaraderie. The Knightly brothers and sister as well as parents were terrific support characters too and I look forward to reading their stories, well I sincerely hope they will all get their own story.
A very entertaining story I thoroughly recommend to everyone.
I always get super excited when I see Meghan has a new book out and she has never yet disappointed me. Her writing style always captivates me with her humour and emotions. With her writng she alwasy delivers the perfect blend of humour mixed with raw emotion and lots of chemistry.
In this book set in a small town in Maine, we are introduced to the four Knightly brothers for us to fall in love with. What intrigues me about the Knightly’s is that they believe that have been cursed by a fortune teller in NOLA, I have a feeling their tales will be highly entertaining. This book is the oldest brother Griffin’s tale and i am excited and hopeful to read more from this family.
Ren Winters is seeking a new life after surving a crash on an LA freeway and needs to get wawy from her over-protective hovering mother, When she accepts a new job teaching in a small town in Maine she never excepted to end up in the arms of a hunky volunteer fireman when she ends up in a moose v car meeting,
Don’t want to give the plot away with my review as you need to experience this yourself and enjoy every word.

This was a very sweet, fast read. This is the story of Griffin and Ren. I loved all of the characters especially the Knightly brothers, they added so much to the story. Mehgan painted such a whimsical and ideal town of Port Snow, Maine, that I want to live there!u2063

This is a second chance at love story. When the four Knightley brothers are celebrating their youngest brothers birthday in New Orleans, they drunkenly stumble onto and break the table of a fortune teller. They have their palms read and are less than receptive to the fortune teller and this cause her to place a “curse” on the brothers and their love life. After this, a tragic event happens to Griffin to cause him to believe the curse is real. The very small town hears of this, and then the most eligible bachelors of Port Snow become untouchable & undateable. u2063

Ren who has left her life in California, accepting a job in the small town of Port Snow, makes a dramatic entrance into town and this is how she meets Griffin. They have an undeniable chemistry and this is where the story really gets interesting. u2063

I know the Knightlys are cursed but can I be one? I mean Jen was safe, it was only the boys who were cursed. Once again Meghan Quinn has made me laugh and feel all the feels in this trip back to Port Snow. I fell in love with this town back in Two Wedding Crashers so I’m so happy we get to return.
If you asked me what I didn’t like about this book I would have to say how it makes me want to eat ALL the fudge.
The family group chats were hilarious and the way they were all up in each others business was classic. And Ren not taking any crap and going after her man? Well that’s exactly what I want in a heroine.
The only thing I’m mad about is that I have to wait for the rest of the brothers’ stories. Already love this series so hard.
“ ’ ’ .”
by Meghan Quinn was so damn sweet, I can’t stop thinking about it! Griffin and Ren’s story is first up in Quinn’s brand-new series, and I’m in love with these characters. I’m in love with the unique premise and the wonderful small town feel that this author has so eloquently created for us. With a prologue that will make your breath catch and an emotionally sweet, swoony, and unique journey, you will have no problems with becoming absolutely addicted to this book! If you are looking for a wonderful small town romance with a bunch of family meddling…look no further. This is only the beginning and I’ve already fallen in love with this family, already completely emotionally invested in their futures. Overall, a great book…a great start to a brand-new contemporary romance series…and a great addition to Meghan’s repertoire of fantastic and charming romance reads.

Can I move to Port Snow? What a delightful place! Small town romances are a favorite of mine- I grew up in one and although I live in a bigger city now, it still has a small town feel that I still love. Meghan Quinn is a one-click author for me- her brand of humor is spot-on and I adore her unique plots quirky characters. Ren and Griffin had such great chemistry and I liked that they built a friendship before a relationship started. Ren was spunky and sweet and Griffin had me swooning as all Quinn heroes do. I come from a super small family myself (and I’m an only child) so it’s always so fun to read about big, wacky, meddling families like the Knightlys. I am super excited about these Knightly brothers- I will be anxiously awaiting books for Rogan, Reid and Brig. It was also super fun to see characters we met in the Dating By Numbers series!
So many things I liked about this story.
The premise is kind of different.
A love curse after a night of drinking…..
Love the small town feel of this story. While, that trope is not something I normally gravitate to, it had me in complete stitches…. the rumor mill, the way the story kept changing through the grapevine… it is hilarious.
I loved the brothers’ relationship with each other. And how distinct each of their personalities are.
It was also so awesome to see the return of some other MQ characters.
And Griffin and Ren were awesome together. Loved Ren and her zest for life and adventure… enjoyed how well-round that her character is and her ability to just speak her mind.
Griffin takes care of everyone and everything at the expense of his own happiness.
Can’t wait for more!!! <3
That Second Chance is the first book I have read by this author and it won’t be the last. Initially, I thought perhaps the whole “curse” was going to be a bit too over the top for me and while it was certainly quirky, it worked and I enjoyed this story immensely.
This story was filled with great character development, an entertaining plot and lots of emotions ranging from not wanting to get hurt again (or hurt someone) to fun antics from Grif’s siblings. Very enjoyable story that I highly recommend. I cannot wait to read more about the Knightly brothers.
As with every other Meghan Quinn book, I was immediately sucked in and couldn’t stop reading. I mean, it definitely helped that the first scene took place in one of my favorite places to visit, New Orleans, and that was such a great start to the story! Now it took me a bit to remember that we’d met these Knightly brothers back in the second book I read by Meghan Quinn, Two Wedding Crashers, with my favorite couple from that series, Rylee and Beck. But I love that Quinn is taking us back to meet some of the other characters we enjoyed from another one of her series. I always love when authors do that. And to know that this is going to be a series now makes me extremely happy, because I really am excited to see what happens to all of the Knightly brothers, because really, it’s impossible to not fall in love with all of them. So much so, that I’d probably have been okay at first if our heroine, Ren, fell for one of the other brothers if Griffin hadn’t ever come around and given this a chance. Another thing I love is the setting, I want to live in a little town like Port Snow. As a former teacher, and current school librarian, I love the idea of a town actually being the village to help raise the children, help keep them in line and good citizens.
We had all of what you’d expect from Meghan Quinn book, the steam, wit, and the feelings. There was even one line early into the story that made me almost spit my food out when I read it as I laughed! It was a page-turner, I hated when my body was telling me I had to go to sleep, not letting me keep my eyes open when all I wanted to do was finish this last night. But when the dogs woke me up at their usual early morning time to go out and get their breakfast, as soon as I was back in bed, I picked this back up and finished it.
Oh yeah, prepare to crave so many sweet things as you read this. You see the Knightly family runs a shop that sells yummy confections like fudge. And lots of different flavors of fudge. And then there are all the different restaurants and even a food truck in this Northeastern area of the US, I might need some crab cakes soon. And how could I forget the Moose? What a perfect “meet-cute” in all its craziness.
*4 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
If you’ve read Meghan’s other books, you will remember the mention of the Knightly Brothers and the intrigue that the little mention of their story held. The fact that Meghan decided to write about the brothers was awesome, and I knew I would definitely be reading their stories.
Griffin’s book was a great start to this series, and I love love loved he and Ren, and also the whole Knightly family and town of Port Snow.
Ren was a very likeable character from the moment we met her, and her interesting meeting with Griffin and his actions was very amusing and also very cute. From then on, as she gets to know the town, the Knightly brothers, and of course Griffin, she’s very easy to love and to want happiness for as a character.
Griffin might be a bit more closed off, but he also is very easy to love and to want a happy ending for. Particularly when you find out some of the more closed off details of his past. His dedication to his family and the town are also wonderful, and he is an all around good guy. If only there were more guys in the world like Griffin Knightly. *sigh*.
I very much enjoyed this story, getting to know these characters and their town, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series, and then the rest after that. Another great read from Meghan that I recommend.
5 Moose Me Stars!!!
Oh My Stars!!! This book is LIFE!! I’m constantly amazed at how Ms. Quinn comes up with her stories and this book for me pretty much tops them all! I laughed sometimes until I cried! Ren and Griff were definitely not looking for love and their meeting when Griff is called out as a volunteer fireman on Ren’s first day in town affects them both in different ways and watching them fall and fall hard was so much fun!!
Ms. Quinn definitely knows how to write a book that engages me as a reader thanks to her ability to write a story that’s so descriptive I actually thought I was in Port Snow, Maine! The Knightly Brothers are a somewhat rowdy bunch but one thing is for sure, they have each other’s backs no matter what the situation. There’s a true quirkiness to this small town romance and I’m so excited to get to come back again for the rest of the Knightly Brothers stories!
You can’t go wrong with one of Meghan’s books. They’re always full of wit, humor, sexy characters, and always dare you not to fall in love with them. Another great read!
I’ve been in a funk. Both with reading and reviewing. It has been weeks since I’ve been able to review a book, then I read That Second Chance. I devoured this book. I sucked up every word. My heart ached for Griffin and Ren and I wanted to know more about every aspect of Port Snow…the quaint little town that reminds me so much of the small town I myself live in. Meghan Quinn is a must read author for me. Her books just have that something special that I absolutely love. She has a way of bringing her characters to life that make them incredibly relatable, almost like you’re reading about your friends. And with so many stories, we see the heroine being the one who is starting over and learning to love again, in this story, it’s the male lead that is starting over. And I loved it. I liked seeing Griffin’s vulnerability, we don’t see that very often with our book boyfriends, or even our real boyfriends for that matter. And talk about superstitious! A New Orleans curse and a heartbreaking coincidence and he is ready to live a life of eternal bachelorhood. He is so guarded and terrified that something bad will happen, he lets it affect his second chance at happiness and love. Then there’s Ren. Ren is Murphy’s Law with legs. This poor girl just can’t catch a break, especially when it comes to things with four tires and a motor. She’s got an independent streak that I admire and is strong, witty, and handles the Knightly brothers like a pro. Finding love in Port Snow wasn’t part of her starting over plan, and only she would fall for the guy who is afraid to start over again. This book was just what I needed at just the right time. It’s charming, emotional, and it has 4 other brothers that we get stories about. This series just might be my favorite Meghan Quinn series yet
That Second Chance blew me away! This story is NOT a typical second-chance romance. You get so much more…second chance of happiness, second chance at love, second chance at forgiveness, and a second chance to finally be free.
Ren is a heaven sent for Griffin. You can feel the nerves of the unknown. You feel like you are falling in a black hole with these characters. I was hoping and wishing through each page. The beginning to the end will keep you mesmerized! I loved the characters! Especially the brothers when they got together. There is a whole lot of mistakes that they make, and all you want to do is whisper to them that they will be okay.
That Second Chance will keep your heart full. The chemistry and heat factor just adds to the emotions that you will go through when reading this story. Another perfect story by an amazing author! Another great series, another great addiction!!!
