USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn delivers a smart and cheeky romance about love’s power to lift hearts . . . and curses. It was supposed to be an innocent night, celebrating my brother’s birthday. Nothing was supposed to go wrong. We’d vowed to be on our best behavior after all . . .But it only took one rowdy night with my brothers to flip my world upside down. One unlucky encounter … world upside down. One unlucky encounter saddled us with a family curse and the promise of doomed relationships. I laughed it off immediately. “Yeah, right,” I thought. “A love curse. Ha!”
Boy, was I wrong.
Word spreads quickly in a town like mine; rumors about that night soon made us the most eligible yet untouchable bachelors in Port Snow, Maine. As a subject of endless gossip and speculation, I could kiss my dating life goodbye.
It would have stayed that way if Ren Winters, the new girl in town, hadn’t crashed into my life. Brave, beautiful, and smart—her vivacious thirst for a fresh start has given me hope that maybe, just maybe, I can have one too.
Everyone wishes for that second chance . . . but could this really be mine?

It’s no secret that I love Meghan’s work and her writing style. She can delivery a great drama and make you read out loud with her rom-coms. For me this book is the middle ground between the two genres. A delicious small town romance, filled with family and adventure. Griffin is the perfect closed of hero and Ren is a ray of sunshine in his life. With great chemistry and awesome characters, it’s the kind of feel good romance to read on a lazy afternoon. I greatly recommend it!

Audio review:
Ren and Griffin’s story was so addicting.
I found myself postponing any and all other responsibilities just so I could listen to a bit more of the book.
Tragic, sweet, sexy and dotted with typical Meghan Quinn humour – it was such a fabulous story to listen to.
Reese and William did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life and I am already queuing up the next book for my aural pleasure.
Meghan Quinn is my queen. She manages to mix the steamiest of sexy romance with wit and humor that never feels forced. This book has it all, as we’ve come to expect from Quinn. It’s a quirky small town romance, it has brothers (series, yes please!), it has hilarious shenanigans and knock your socks off romance. I loved it from start to finish but of course I did, because Quinn wrote it.
I picked up this book since I was looking for a small-town contemporary romance. And I wasn’t disappointed. I enjoyed the cast of characters, the setting in a small town in Maine and the plot.
I liked both Ren and Griffin and was rooting them along as they tried to figure out their relationship. I laughed at their first meeting and got choked up when they hit that eventual rough patch on their road to happily ever after. The secondary characters were a hoot and I can’t wait to revisit them in future books in the series.
The narrators were good. I liked having both the male and female narrators as the chapters in the book flip flopped between Ren and Griffin’s POVs. The one downside was that I wasn’t completely sold on some of the voices that were used to distinguish between the characters, but it was easy enough to get past.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series, which was hinted at during the epilogue. And I’d be willing to listen to books narrated by William LeRoy and Reese Covington as well. All-in-all, I enjoyed the story and performances.
With each book, Meghan Quinn gets better and better. Perfect comedic timing and swoon-my-pants-off romance.
Meghan is a new to me Author and now she has a new fan is me!!!
This book had all the feels with some comedy and drama.
Griffin tragically lost his young wife to a massive heart attack when she was only 25. Griffin blames himself all because of something that happened on a brother’s only week end in New Orleans. NOW we fast forward 2 years. Griffin volunteers as a firefighter and fate was flying on his back because he meet a beautiful young lady who could possibility be a game changer for him.
AS i SAID BEFORE THIS BOOK HAS ALL THE FEELS, I was in a slump and couldn’t really get into anything and this book held my interest right away…
If steamy and funny are what you’re looking for – you’ve come to the right author. I love the world building and the characters! You’re going to love it!

Loved it! I fell in love with Port Snow in the Two Wedding Crashers and could not be happier with this setting. Ren is such a strong, resilient woman and she made me so proud when she fought for what she wanted. It’s so refreshing! Griffin…what a perfectly flawed man. He had such swoonworthy qualities that would have any female sighing in his midst. But of course, we have the scars that he carries that keep women at a distance. At times I wanted to give him a little shake but then pull him in for a hug. He’s just such a dear, sweet man that you can’t help but want the very best for him. Both of these characters tugged at my heartstrings and sucked me neck deep into this story. It was a beautiful romantic story that was a pleasure to read.
THAT SECOND CHANCE (Getting Lucky Book 1) by Meghan Quinn is a new contemporary romance set in quaint, small town Port Snow, Maine. This is the first book, hopefully of four, featuring the Knightly brothers and their search for true love after being cursed by a fortune teller in NOLA.
Ren Winters is lucky to be alive. After surviving a chain reaction crash on an L.A. freeway and a year of recovery, she is ready to move on with her life and out from under the constant excessive worry from her mother. She accepts a new job teaching algebra clear across the country in a small town in Maine. A moose vs. car encounter on her first day is not what she was expecting, but it puts her right where she needs to be, in the arms of a handsome volunteer firefighter.
Griffin Knightly has always been the responsible oldest brother of the four Knightly brothers. They are four of the hottest bachelors in town, but small town gossip has left them untouchable. Coming home with a curse from New Orleans, Griffin suffers a loss that makes him a believer and women stay away. He fills his life with the family business, volunteering on the fire department and many other civic groups. When called out for a car crash, he rescues a hysterical Ren.
Ren cannot believe that this handsome man lives right down the street from her new home and is willing to introduce her to her new hometown. Griffin is trying to stay away from the new teacher, who is funny, quirky and sweet, but his family keeps throwing them together. The chemistry between Ren and Griffin is strong, but is it strong enough to defeat Griffin’s fears?
I absolutely loved this romance and all of the Knightly boys! Ms. Quinn captured my heart with this family and small town. The dialogue is spot on between the siblings with just the right amount of love and snark. All of the characters were fully fleshed out and believable. The sex in this romance is explicit and hot and the slow build-up to it made me as anxious as the characters. This is one of those books that you read quickly to get to the HEA and are completely engrossed in the romance and yet when it is over, you want more.
I highly recommend this romance and I cannot wait to read the other Knightly boys’ stories!
I’m a huge Meghan Quinn fan, and her new Getting Lucky series has me bursting with excitement. Quinn’s captivating writing style – an engrossing blend of humor, heat and heart – never fails to draw me in, and she brought her fantastic sense of humor, some heart-tugging emotion and plenty of steam to the table in That Second Chance. Set in small-town, coastal Maine, Quinn introduces readers to the four Knightly brothers as she gives the oldest brother, Griffin, his much deserved, hard-earned happily ever after.
I don’t want to spoil a single thing about this story, so I’ll just say that Quinn gives the second chance romance trope her own stamp with an interesting and addictive spin. This couple has one heck of a charming meet-cute to kick off their slow-burning, friends-to-lovers romance. Griffin Knightly has been dealt the harshest of hands when it comes to love, and this man is carrying around more baggage than the Kardashian clan traipsing through LAX as they leave on vacation. Ren has had her own challenges, and she’s in Maine to start over. This couple’s chemistry crackled from the start, and while he tried hard to deny it, he ultimately couldn’t. The question then became, would he have the courage to deal with his past and face his fears to salvage his future?
That Second Chance was a charming, hard-fought, slow-burn second-chance romance, and I didn’t want to put it down. I was all-in with this couple from page one, and I devoured their story with a racing, hopeful heart. Quinn’s writing kept me engaged, entertained and grinning from cover-to-cover. Five smooches from me for That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn!

I love a good second chance romance and I love Meghan Quinn, so I jumped at the chance to get this book early. I really like that this is a different kind of second chance love story because although it is a second chance for both Griffin and Ren, it is not for them as a couple since they just meet in this story. Since his wife died, Griffin has not let himself even entertain the thought of finding love again because he thinks he is cursed. Then a moose intervenes and he meets Ren. Ren has had her own string of bad luck and has moved to the peaceful small town of Port Snow, Maine to start over and hopefully find her place. Despite his best efforts, Griffin cannot seem to stay away from the sweet and funny Ren any more than she can resist the sexy and charming Griffin. Not getting involved seems to be a problem but will his past stop Griffin from having a future with the woman he is falling for?? Things are definitely not smooth sailing for these two but with a little help from the wonderfully meddling Knight family (I can’t wait for the rest of their stories!!) they finally find there way to each other and their HEA.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
I absolutely loved this story. This was so beautifully written and such a heartwarming amazing story!! My heart broke for Griffin when his world was flipped upside down by his wife’s sudden death days after his trip to New Orleans with his brothers. Two years later, Ren came into town with a helluva entrance…literally, thanks to a moose. They became fast friends and you could feel the magnetic pull of attraction between them. I felt all of their emotions; the happiness, the loss, the heartache, the fear and excitement, the longing and their love for each other. Quinn’s books are always emotional, passionate, and fun with the absolute best HEA. William LeRoy & Reese Covington do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality.
I’m a big fan of these Knightly brothers. Can’t wait for more!
I don’t say cheesy romance as a bad thing. It’s just not my thing. The story was cute and the romance a little steamier than I would have expected, but overall this book is not the style of romance novel I prefer.
