Vi Harris tests every bit of my strength. She is my own personal challenge. She has the potential to make me weak at a time when I’m determined to show everyone just how bloody strong I am. Yet somehow, she doesn’t see me as broken. She sees me as the man I’m fighting so hard to be. The man that I’m still struggling to see myself. But resisting her is proving to be even more difficult than my … more difficult than my past…
That One Moment is a full length standalone romance, it’s book 2 in the Lost in London Series and can be read as a standalone.

I think the author, Amy Daws, describes this book better than anyone. In an e-mail she sent to me and some fellow bloggers, she stated that, “It’s so…sigh.” Truer words were never spoken!
I feel like if there was ever a fictional character in desperate need of one of my hugs, it would be Hayden. It’s been one year since that one moment: when Hayden attempted to kill himself. He’s now sober, and believes he’s turned his life around. However, his therapist gives him a challenge (sort of becoming a theme in this series) to tell one stranger his whole story. Enter Vi.
When Hayden and Vi first interact…OMG love it! There’s a spark between them. An intense heat which Hayden doesn’t want to admit he feels, so he gets broody and angry until he can’t stand it anymore! This tends to result in the two of them pushed up against a wall for a delicious make out session.
Yes, there is amazing chemistry between Hayden and Vi. Yes, there are amazing sex scenes. Yes, I wish I could eat ice cream out of the divots of Hayden’s abs. But the true brilliance of this novel was in the countdown. Hayden shares with Vi the last 5 days leading up to his suicide attempt. It was overwhelming to read this tragic and heartbreaking lead-up, showing how such a seemingly strong character had once given up on life, and tried to end his pain. Hayden is shocked that instead of pushing her away, his countdown actually brings the two of them closer together.
Throughout this novel, we see how life is full of life-changing moments; some good, some heart-wrenchingly terrible. However, in order to truly live life, one must focus instead on those good moments that take your breath away. They are the ones that help you get through the difficult ones.
For Hayden, the last four years of his life since his sister’s untimely death have only been filled with bad moments. One after the other. A build-up which eventually became too much for him to bear, so he tried to leave this world altogether. Since Vi entered his life though, he’s finally started seeing the good moments again. Because of her, he’s finally started living again.
In my opinion, this was definitely one of the best of the entire London Lovers/Lost in London series. It covers some intense subjects, but there’s also a decent amount of humor woven in as well. From Vi’s over-protective footballer brothers, to her ball-sniffing dog Bruce. Oh, and did I mention it’s sexy as hell?! These two exude passion and chemistry. Just gotta love the amount of biting kisses, groping, thrusting and spankings going on in this book. It’s so…sigh!
How to review this book is a challenge for me ‘cuz I don’t want to reveal too much. I absolutely loved reading this one. it was a heartfelt, emotional read. The connection between Vi and Hayden was not only blossoming but what they both needed. the way Vi felt all her life, losing her mother at a young age, the fear she had when she got close to someone and opened her heart. that feeling that men will always run after she exposed herself. And then there’s Hayden, oh Hayden, with a dark past with almost a bad outcome! I could feel his pain and it was an emotional rollercoaster to read. not only ‘cuz I have been there myself but just those feelings you have that no one will ever understand unless you went through it yourself. I had so many tears in my eyes but it was worth the tears. I really felt this story and I highly recommend this one. After you’ve read it, even if you never went through some of the same things, you’ll always know that sometimes life is hard but pain makes you know you’re living! and there’ll always be people around you that love you no matter what. We always need to try to find our light, even in the darkest moments in our lives…
This is one of the most amazing stories which I have had the pleasure of reading. Vi is the sister of the Harris boys, and she has been a mum to all of the boys. Hayden has experienced a tragic family accident, and is struggling to move on in life. This story may have triggers for some readers, such as depression and attempt at suicide. This is a beautifully written story which this author had done a truly phenomenal job with this story, which is filled with humour, entertainment, and love. I was totally captivated throughout, and I cannot wait to read more of this exceedingly talented authors’ work, and I highly recommend for all readers! Brilliant work Amy!!
There are no words to describe my love of this book. I read all the Harris Brother books and couldn’t wait to read their sister, Vi’s, story. It was everything I wanted and more. I wonderfully emotional, funny, sexy, read!
Amy Dawes is a hit or miss author for me. I wanted to like this more than I did. I read all of the Harris brother books first and you can definitely see stronger writing in the later books. Vi giggled way to much. She’s a grown women for goodness sake. Hayden was a bit annoying in his angst. I get his past was traumatic, but good lord. Making that wish EVERY NIGHT at 11:11?? Childish.
*5 Stars*
I finally, finally got to Vi and Haydens book! As I started reading Amy with the Harris Brothers series when Challenge was first released, I have continuously been hearing about Vi and Haydens book and how I need to go back and read the London Lovers series. If you have been following my posts, you will already know that over the last week or so, I have been on a London Lovers binge, finally getting around to reading all these books.
Vi and Hayden are probably one of my favourite couples in this series, because their book was so easy for me to devour. I think a lot of that stems from the fact that I already loved them from the Harris Brothers series.
Whilst I know a lot of readers love Hayden so, and yes I did too, I think for me, Vi was my more anchoring and favourite character in this book. I don’t want to take away from Hayden or his serious and intense journey, because lets face it, thats what it is, and his struggles are real. And I don’t look at that lightly, not at all.
But for me, getting to know Vi more, and getting the boys in this story a fair bit as well, well, it honestly just feels like coming home to me. And that probably stems from the fact that I started with the boys series rather than this one. Vi is fierce and strong and her brothers are damn adorable as we already know, but at the same time she has her own hang ups, which for me were quite easy to relate to.
I loved everything about this story, getting to know Hayden and Vi both, and understand Hayden a lot more. This book certainly transformed my opinion of him, because I was not a fan after the last couple of books. I loved how he and Vi just work together, and the little details they share with each other. And who can forget our glimpses of the rest of the LL cast? Especially Lezbo, Theo and Marisa. Oh, and the end of the book? Perfect! Loved it. Another great one from Amy.
I actually read the Harris Brothers books first (Challenge, Endurance & Keeper) and I wanted Vi’s story so badly. She is the glue that has held the Harris family together. She has her hands full with four strong brothers and an stubborn father. Since her Mother’s death she has been the rock that the men of her family has clung to, but what about her? Isn’t she allowed to have happiness and love? When her dog Bruce finds her the man who could destroy and heal her heart all in one swoop, she doesn’t know what to do. When the one man she falls for feels she deserves better and pushes her at every step to the point that he may push her away permanently. Vi and Hayden are amazing and I love, love, love this story. Well done Amy Daws you have done it again!!!
