A virgin who’s bailed on five one-night stands. Her new neighbor? One-Night Stand #5. Her new coworker? Yup, him. Read this hilarious rom-com now!I’m a twenty-two year-old virgin who’s had five one-night stands. How’s that possible? Easy. I’ve never gone all the way. I just chicken out and bail. Thank God, I’ve always selected men I’ll never run across again……until that sexy-as-sin Matt from … that sexy-as-sin Matt from last weekend moves in next door…
…then shows up as a new in-house counsel at Sweet Darlings Inc. where I work.
Oh…crap.
But it was dark in the hotel room. If I put on a boring office outfit and Clark Kent glasses, he won’t recognize me…
Right?
”Brilliant, sexy, hilarious, and crazy fun!” – Amazon Reviewer
“This was my first Nadia Lee book and I absolutely loved it! I was giggling pretty much from the start of the book, I mean how can you not when a young twenty-something virgin has had 5 one night stands?” – My Book Filled Life

Matt and Jan meet through a failed one-night stand. This is an interesting premise and a different take on virgin romance that I really enjoyed. Fate brings them back together and hilarity ensues. Jan is a little immature in the beginning and they have some very funny interactions. Their chemistry is very hot and I like how Matt slows things down a little and romances her. Miscommunication leads to misunderstanding that needs resolution for their HEA. Side characters are interesting and I look forward to reading their stories. Overall, I enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Love Nadia Lee! Always entertaining and want to finish once I’ve started reading.
I loved this book. The story was hilarious, sexy, crazy funny, snarky and romantic – everything you look for in a RomCom.
It just fell flat. This was a unique premise but the main character and only point of view lead a life based off of hugely inaccurate information/perceptions.
To buy the love story, you also desperately needed the POV of lead make character. Without, you as the reader had no idea why he would deal with the frustrating insecurities of Jan.
I just finished feeling meh about the whole story.
a change from her normal.. but a good change
A FUN, FLIRTY ROMANCE !!!
Title: That Man Next Door
Series: Sweet Darlings Inc.
Author: Nadia Lee
Designation: Book One of Series, Full-Length, Standalone, Contemporary Romantic Comedy/Chick Lit, No Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Sexy Stars*****
Oh my! This may have been my first time reading the work of Nadia Lee, but it certainly won’t be my last! I loved, loved, loved That Man Next Door! I adore romantic comedy, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than a well-written chick-lit but when I can find both in the same great story, I’m in heaven! And that’s exactly what Nadia Lee delivered in That Man Next Door! Of course, as the title implies, the book is about neighbors becoming lovers, which is one of my favorite romance tropes but surprisingly, the story also encompasses four other popular plot devices: a one-night stand with a hot, hunky out-of-town stranger who, as it turns out, will not remain a stranger (soooo embarrassing, especially since said heroine used a fake name and chickened out before the deed was done! lol…), beautiful virgin seeking to rid herself of pesky v-card, coworkers to lovers, and family member’s best friend from college. That Man Next Door is a deliciously cute all-you-can-eat buffet of my most fav romance tropes and offers a delightful experience for a variety of readers. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with a primary point of view from the female protagonist, beautiful personal assistant Jan Doe. And no, that’s not a typo. lol… Her first name is Jan and her last name is actually Doe. In the last chapter, Lee gave me the one thing I felt the story lacked: a perspective from the male protagonist, handsome attorney Matt Aston. Giving no voice to the hero until the last chapter further enforced the chick-lit vibe rather than a contemporary romantic comedy, but Matt’s chapter at the end of the story made all the difference in the world, at least for me. The fact there was as much dialogue and interaction between Jan and her two best friends/housemates as with Matt also reinforced the chick-lit vibe. There was so much I loved about this book, but the cast of engaging, well-developed characters was, by far, my favorite element. I was immediately smitten with smart, determined Matt Aston and instantly connected with the heroine, Jan Doe. Jan was beautiful, intelligent, kindhearted, and hard-working, but so insecure. Although there were several kinda/sorta antagonists in this story, Jan’s insecurities and lack of confidence turned out to be the real enemy. I love a great story where the heroine finally finds her voice along with her inner diva and has the courage to change her life which, in this case, results in her finding happiness with the love of her life. No spoilers from me but I will say this… Beautiful, smart, but very insecure 22-year-old virgin desperately trying to lose her v-card but chickens out again on her fifth failed out of town one-night stand-Check! Hot new neighbor, newly hired Sweet Darlings in-house counsel coworker, cousin’s best friend from Harvard, and handsome stranger from fifth and most recent failed one-night stand, and oh dear, they’re all the same guy-Check! Two best friends who mean well-check! A successful grandmother and boss who only wants the best for her granddaughter-check! A spiteful ex-girlfriend-check! A disastrous brunch-check! A little angst and a huge heartbreaking misunderstanding-check! Humor, hijinks, and laughs galore-check! Instant attraction, steamy passion, dreamy romance, and a wonderful happy ending-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? Definitely, but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit language and dreamy sex. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! The series will continue with one of Jan’s best friends/housemates in That Sexy Stranger, and I can hardly wait! ANd finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! If you enjoy sexy romantic comedy and inspiring chick-lit filled to the brim with laughs, fun, friends, and heartwarming love, then this book is screaming your name!
