Quarterback Danny Diamond loves to score. Touchdowns. Get those dirty thoughts out of your minds, ladies. Just because he has two Super Bowl rings, model good looks, and a well-defined athletic body doesn’t mean he’s a player off the field. Sure, he has women swooning over his messy blond hair, brilliant blue eyes, and cocky smirk, but he’s been married to his college sweetheart since he was … since he was drafted, and they have two beautiful children.
Just when he’s gearing up for what he hopes is the best season of his career, his picture-perfect wife of fifteen years completely blindsides him when she asks for a divorce.
Award-winning actress Jennifer Edwards also lives a seemingly fairy-tale celebrity life with rock star and international DJ, Troy Malone. That is, until he’s caught on video in an Amsterdam brothel, and their love becomes tabloid fodder.
Years ago, Danny and Jennifer met at a party, and their chemistry was off the charts. After a few months of being just friends, he did the right thing–cut off all contact with her to focus on his family.
It was the right decision at the time. But they’ve never forgotten each other. Or the special connection they felt. And, when Danny’s next-door neighbor offers Jennifer a place to hide out from the paparazzi, they meet … again.
Will Jennifer and Danny find true love after getting sacked, or are they destined to watch from the sideline forever?
Danny’s duet can be read as a standalone series, although most enjoy getting to know Danny when he is younger in the first three That Boy books.

That Love (That Boy, #4) was a great read by Jillian Dodd. Danny is the handsome football player who everyone has a crush on. Jennifer met him fifteen years ago and was instantly attracted to him. They both felt a connection but unfortunately Danny is married and his wife is pregnant. Jennifer finds herself in a life that isn’t perfect, although she is an award-winning actress. She is faced with a cheating boyfriend who was caught on video in an Amsterdam brothel. JJ contacts her and she goes to see her and hiding from the paparazzi. She stumbles on Danny while at JJ’s and they are both still insanely attracted to each other. I can’t wait to read more by Jillian Dodd.
This story is eloquently told. The emotions displayed are earth shattering real and poignant. Between the despair of the previous relationships and the uncertainty of building a new one, you get to see the inner workings of their thoughts and emotions. But what makes it so splendid is the candor they have with each other for their needs, wants, and desires.
This is a soul touching story that will suck you in at page 1 and won’t let you go even when the book is complete.
Honest ARC review.
Who didn’t love Danny Diamond in That Boy tripling? No one!!! I was excited when Jillian announced she was writing his book. If you read That Baby you experienced the connection of Danny and Jenn.
I loved Danny for how he handled the situation!! I felt bad for him because in That Baby Lori’s true colors came out. I couldn’t stand her. I wanted him to be happy to have the love Phillip and Jadyn!!
I loved that we got to see Phillip and Jadyn in this book. They actually are in it A LOT!! Plus all the kids. It’s great to be back with the gang!!
I don’t know if it’s a good thing or bad thing that my heart didn’t get ripped out in this book. But I’m going to prepare for it to happen in That Ring.
This is a definite must read book! I cannot wait to read book 2.
So can’t say as I am shocked that Danny and Lori won’t make it the long haul but seriously Lori what the hell is wrong with you? So after 15 years Danny is navigating a divorce while helping his children when a blast from the past comes back into his life. We all remember Jennifer Edwards and the connection she and Danny have. Now they are both free to pursue the relationship they wished they could have had but some complications are in the way. This book ends on a cliff hanger of sorry That Ring is next.
I’ve been a fan of Danny from the moment I met him in That Boy. Was he cocky? Sure he was! But what boy aspiring to be a professional football player wouldn’t be a bit cocky. I was thrilled to read Danny’s story in That Divorce because I can never get enough of him. He’s sexy, caring and sweet, and loves his family more than anything else. When his wife of 15 years decides to leave him, Danny feels more blindsided than he has in any football game he’s ever played. While my heart broke for Danny, the other part of me was cheering that Lori was finally gone. When Jennifer Edwards shows back up in his life, I was convinced Danny would finally get his “happily ever after” with his one true love. That Divorce took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotion and was full of life, love, and a bit of family drama that made this story worth the wait.
P.S. The kids are all grown up and starting an adventure of their own! I can’t wait to see where Dani and Chase’s stories lead along with the other Diamond and Mackenzie kids!
I have been waiting for this book for 1.5 years! And it did not disappoint.
I read That Boy series (all 3 books) in 3 days. I was consumed by Jayden, Phillip and Danny and all of their teenage drama.
So.. when I just happened to see that we were going back into that world, I was so excited.
The story is just SO easy to read that before I knew it, I was done. Jillian has such a way of making you feel everything that is going on in the story and really connects you to the characters.
Looking into Danny and Lori’s life from a different perspective than you got in the That Boy Series made me fall in love with Danny all over again. You meet up with him 14 years after the other books with his kids and Jayden/Phillip’s family. You want to read this. <3
Words can’t express how excited I was for this book! I have missed all these characters so much. This book was a one sitting read that I devoured. If you haven’t read these books you need to stop what your doing and read them.
Danny Diamond is a dreamy pro football player who is very family oriented. He has two kids and wife he thought he would be with forever. Every marriage has rough patches right?
Lori was something else and she was really hard to like. She tries to make life miserable for Danny. She has no clue a woman from his past has reappeared and turned his world upside down. He is happy and enjoying spending time with his kids and friends.
I could go on and on about this book but I won’t. You need to read this book, well all the books in That Boy series!
That Divorce

Stephannie’s 5 Star Review
15 years ago, Jennifer and Danny met and sparks fly. The only problem is Danny married and he isn’t the type to stray from his wife. Then something happens and both Jennifer and Danny are available. Will lightning strike twice? Will their exs get in their way to find out if what if what they have is more than a spark? Will Danny’s children like Jennifer cause interference?
I loved this book. Its a great story and its not over yet. That Ring is coming out soon. Jillian Dodd is amazing at creating characters that feel real. I’m hooked. Which isn’t a surprise because everything that Jillian writes is amazing. It is a must read. I don’t like to give too much away but its a must read. You can also read it as a standalone because I haven’t read the first couple of books. But Im thinking of buying them when I’m finished reading That Ring. One click and check this one out now!
Omg…this story is killing me. I loved Danny and Jennifer getting to reconnect after having that ultimate connection in time. Danny and Lori…these two drove me bananas. I wanted them to work. I wanted Danny to have his happy ever after but it should never be this hard. I’ve never been so excited to read a second chance romance. Finally we get to see Danny on the road to his true love. But oh the bumps. SO SO MANY BUMPS. I love the angst and the ups and downs. I could not stop turning the pages and wondering what was coming next. Would they survive the next hiccup? I can’t wait to see what happens for these two next! And who else might be popping up with all of my favorite people!
As always, my reviews do not contain spoilers, but will discuss the plot.
Have you ever wondered if your spouse/partner is the love of your life? Have you ever met someone and felt an instant connect after years of marriage/commitment with someone else? How did you handle it?
While reading Jayden and Phillip’s stories, I watched helplessly as quarterback Danny Diamond struggled with his marriage. Lori, his wife, had become such a horrible person that I celebrated the instant connection between Danny and Jennifer (a celebrity actress we’ve known since Keatyn days)!
Fast forward to That Divorce, where we finally say bye-bye to psycho-pants Lori! Even if the book ended there I would have given it 5 stars!!! Lori has been written so well that I legit hate her. I may have done a happy dance upon her departure.
Like I said earlier, I don’t want to give too much away so you can experience all of your own feels throughout. I was hooked at Danny’s single realization, “I’m looking at the woman who is possibly the love of my life”.
The entire series, beginning with That Boy has been completely fantastic. The writing is so full of emotion that you feel as if you’re living the lives of these characters. Each heartbreak, celebration, and devastating occurrence is felt at soul level. I have been and continue to be impressed by the writing and the plot of these fantastic books. 5 stars! Now into That Ring!!!
This is it, this is the story we’ve been waiting for since Jillian crosses the That Boy series with the Keatyn Chronicles series, well part one anyway. And y’all, it’s exactly what you would expect from a Jillian Dodd novel, a whirlwind of emotions and you’re definitely going to want to read this if you loved Danny as much as I did. He deserves to be happy and we all know that Lori was not his Happily Ever After. It also helps that we get to see what happened to our other favorites, yes we see a lot of Jadyn and Phillip, as well as all the kids. I can not wait to see how That Ring finishes everything up for us.
Oh, Danny Diamond…
Love a hot, hunky quarterback? Love a starlet amid a scandal? Then READ THIS BOOK!!! Danny and Jennifer met years ago, and never forgot the encounter. Now, they both find themselves in a place to rekindle that romance but there are obstacles in the way. One being a haughty ex-wife and another being a rebellious teenage daughter. Add in a drunken rock star that won’t let go, and you have yourself a can’t put down read.
The That Boy series is my favorite series by Jillian Dodd. I was really excited when I found out that she was writing a duet for Danny! It did not disappoint! It was so great to be back with all my favorite characters and get to see more into their lives. I can’t wait to read what comes next! Definite must read!
Wow what a ride. I finally finished That Baby which was okay and I would recommend reading the That Boy series prior to reading That Divorce. The relationship between Lori and Danny definitely had me cringing and cheering in That Divorce when things started turning around for Danny. I cannot wait for That Ring to find out if Danny will actually get his HEA.
This is book 4 in That Boy series and should be read in order to fully enjoy the whole story of who Danny is and all he’s gone through. Danny is such a great guy and loving father. This story is full of happiness and laughter getting to see the real Danny come back to life after his divorce. Can’t wait to read the next book.
UGH I got all the feels in this book. Jennifer and Danny’s story is so beautiful and SOOOO complicated. The chemistry they had years ago is still there. Both have changed and been through some rough times recently. Though they have that chemistry their communication skills are a little rough. Jillian has left us on a roller coaster for That Ring and can’t wait to see how they end up.
I’ve been waiting for That Divorce to be released for what seems like years. Reading Jillian’s books is like catching up with old friends. You feel like you’re part of them and the life they live. You find out what kind of raw emotions the characters have. Danny and Jennifer have had a special bond for years. He never acted on it. Doing the right thing for his family. Now that is he getting divorced, will they make it work?
The characters in this series of Jillian’s are my favorites of her. That Boy is my all time favorite of book of hers and reading these characters is always a joy for me. It was good to be back in Kansas City and finally see what was happening with Danny.
Jillian does a great job in making a “villain” I wasn’t sure I could dislike Lori more after That Baby but boy was I wrong. Danny definitely has the patience of a saint being married to and now dealing with her attitude about the divorce and I can’t wait for him to hopefully get his happily ever after. He deserves it and so much more.
Jennifer’s story always intrigued me and I am rooting for her to finally put her past behind her and move forward. She is the girl we can all relate to (well, except maybe the movie star status) when it comes to demons and I can’t wait to see the Jennifer we were originally introduced to.
I love this group of characters and to be honest I’m not looking forward to the actual end but I can’t wait to read The Ring in a few months. Her happy endings are some of my favorites. It’s always sad to close a chapter with Jillian but I know it will all be worth it.
