5 Cranky Stars
See I told y’all Rogan had a story to tell. He was Mr Mysterious from book one always lurking just doing his thing and making a name for himself in Port Snow by renovating all the town landmarks. He was the silent Knightly brother and that made him more intriguing and I’m so glad I got his story.
Rogan has always loved his best friend Harper. They pretty much grew up together, so it was natural they take that next step and life was good. They had many adventures in Port Snow, but the Snow Vale Manor was their private place. A dilapidated mansion rich with history. Rogan knew he wanted to do two things in life and that was play pro football and marry Harper. Sadly, tragedy struck and Rogan being Rogan acted out and plans changed. Now he’s faced with the reminder of his past mistakes when Harper comes back to town. Harper swore she would never forgive Rogan. She wouldn’t let him past all the walls she built around her heart because going back home was her only option. You can’t avoid each other forever in a tiny town so they are repeatedly thrusted together by meddling family and friends. Harper slowly starts to interact with Rogan, and they form a tentative friendship and things bloom from there. Old pain is rehashed, and healing begins.
I hated Rogan midway into this story. I know he was acting out of a place of pain and anger but come on dude calm down. Harper was a different character in the sense that her life wasn’t all about a career and being someone important she was content and happy being Rogan’s forever girl. Her happiness and her goal in life was to be a wife and raise kids. Not that I’m saying she didn’t have a passion for things but that was her happiness where she found her soul. In a person not a career. I liked that about her. I kind of feel like my life is like that. I’m happy being a stay at home mom it’s where I found I’m good at something. This book isn’t all darn you Rogan and love and fan yourself sexy times it’s also about the unwavering support of the crazy Knightly brothers. I was laughing at their text exchange and #deathbycentaur that had me dying. It would be a pretty epic way to go by a horse man with a bow and arrow. I wonder who the next story will be about? Brigs? Can I have Brig’s story next? Please??

This is the second book in the series Getting Lucky and features the second brother Rogan, although I haven’t read the first book with Griffin as the main character this second instalment can be read as a standalone.
Rogan is the second of four brothers and a successful businessman. He had dreams of becoming a pro football player, but that didn’t happen and his failed relationship with his former best friend made him a workaholic and bitter. The reappearance of his ex-fiancée has set the tongues wagging in their small town and everyone but him seem to be rooting for them to get back together.
Harper grew up with Rogan and from best friends, they became lovers and got engaged. When Rogan got involved in an accident, their relationship went downhill and they broke up. Now that she’s back in their small town all she wants is to get on with her life, but Rogan’s family and her dad are masters at meddling and she keeps on bumping into Rogan. Will she give him another chance although it looks like he doesn’t even want to be near her?
“Broken love can be mended, but it takes work, understanding and appreciation for each other’s journey.”
This best-friends-to-lovers/second-chance romance is as entertaining as any Meghan Quinn love story. Told in dual points of view, this light-hearted tale with a splash of angst tells the story of two individuals who were destined to be together but a life-changing event scuppered that dream.
Rogan in the first half of the book was a jerk to Harper and there were times when I could have kicked him in the nuts because of his behaviour, he was just mean. Harper, on the other hand, could have been a stronger character but as a twenty-eight-year-old woman, she is aimless and drifting. Rogan’s only saving grace was the way he tried to get her back in the last quarter of the book. His other brothers Griffin, Reid and Brigg provide the amusing banter that made me giggle at times. The family dynamics and the whole small-town vibe add a charming touch to Rogan and Harper’s romance, a perfect read on a lazy afternoon.
Back to the Knightly brothers we go, and we meet Rogan, hot brother #2! Thought his life had been set in stone, had his girl, Harper, since they were young, heading to Syracuse where he will play football with the dream of going pro, until one fateful night changes everything he thought he had.
Harper has been struggling to get through her life for 7 years after the tragedy that changed her future, traveling up and down the east coast avoiding going back home till she has no choice but to head back to Port Snow Maine, where her dad is and her ex fiance. God give me the strength to get through this.
They are both hurt, but after all Rogan caused it all, but Harper still carries some of the guilt, and let’s throw in the curse the Knightly boys received in New Orleans, and what a story we have here!
Loved this one, 5 home town stars for this, Meghan gives you all the feels in this one, looking forward to more from the Knightly boys! Grab this asap!
Rogan Knightly is a totally different person than he used to be. Sure he is successful in his real estate business, and has a loving family, but he’s also closed off and when it comes to his love life, it’s pretty much nonexistent, thanks to the girl he pushed away. When word gets out that Harper is back in town, Rogan isn’t sure what to feel, all he knows is that he can’t stop thinking about Harper.
Port Snow is the last place that Harper Sanders wanted to return to after Rogan Knightly broke her heart so epically all those years ago. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) circumstances have brought her back. She’s determined not to let Rogan affect her, and not to relive those memories from their childhoods. However the more time they are forced to spend together, the more they both realize they still want each other. Can they let go of the past and move forward, or will the past keep them apart?
Rogan Knightly is my absolute favorite. There is something about a broody guy that I’m just drawn too. I love the second chance romance of this book, with almost a dash of enemies to lovers thrown in. I was captivated from the very beginning, and I love that we got to go back and forth between then and now, as well as the dual points of view. I enjoy seeing how each character reacts to situations and what is going through their minds when certain things are happening. Meghan Quinn always rights such feel good romances, and ‘That Forever Girl’ was no exception. I am ready for the next Knightly brother to get his happily ever after!
If you are looking for an amazing second chance romance filled with heart and meddling family then That Forever Girl is the one for you. Rogan and Harper are it for each other. They are young love, best friends, soul mates. Rogan did the only thing he could do when tragedy struck him and he pushed Harper away. That kind of love never fades. Harper and Rogan have a lot of anger to work through. When Harper moves back home you can feel the sparks fly all over the place. Yes, it’s more enemies to love vibe for a while but with their history and their love, you can’t help but feel all the old sparks start to fly. They say there is a fine line between love and hate and Harper and Rogan prove that throughout this one. I was sucked in from the start and so in love with the Knightly family. I love Harper and how she holds her own when it comes to Rogan. This is such a beautiful read. You feel the healing love of Harper and Rogan in this one. The Getting Lucky series just keeps getting better and I can’t wait for the next Knightly brother to fall.
5 star review of That Forever Girl (Getting Lucky #2) by Meghan Quinn
I love second chance at love stories, add in that it is set in a charming little town whose name I love, Port Snow, Maine and I am all set. What a great read this one was; I was captivated from the first chapter to the last and couldn’t put this book down.
Harper Sanders is the woman who left town leaving Rogan Knightly behind, but now she’s back. Feelings will be re awakened, but the biggest question of all is whether Harper and Rogan can forgive the past and the pain it caused?
Weaving both present day and the past together Meghan Quinn has given us the full story of young love and how it can become a forever love when fate gives you another chance. This was an emotional read at times and really tugged at my heartstrings, sad and yet beautiful, a story of love and hope.
The chemistry between Rogan and Harper was scorching and intense. I loved the camaraderie between Rogan and his family and the mystery that is woven throughout this book. Of course it wouldn’t be a Meghan Quinn novel without humour and laughter and this just added to the overall enjoyment of the book.
Rogan was such a charismatic hero that I couldn’t help but fall for him. I loved how feisty and sassy Harper is; in fact I just loved everything about the characters and the story.
That Forever Girl ticked all the boxes for me, it is a story of love, hope, forgiveness and was at times a bit of an emotional roller coaster and I cannot wait for the next release in the series.
I received a copy of this book through the publisher via NetGalley.
That Forever Girl is the second book in the Getting Lucky series. It can be read as a standalone, I missed the first book and I had no problem jumping into this one. This story is a does go back and forth from past to present, it’s a second chance, cursed brothers, emotional, and for the most part I liked it. It took me a bit to warm up to the characters Rogan and Harper. For adults they reminded me of teenagers at times. I did find the banter between the Knightly family funny. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I received this book from Netgalley.
Another winner by Meghan Quinn. Rogan and Harper’s journey made me laugh, cry and love. I enjoyed how the story went back and forth between the past and present. The Four Men and a Witch text group chat has me laughing out loud. Looking forward to another visit to Port Snow. Can’t wait for Brig and Reid to meet their matches.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley
That Forever Girl takes us on a journey from heartbreaking to heartwarming moments with some humor tucked in. All of that combined with fantastic writing and characters you be rooting for to finally find their second chance at their once in a lifetime love makes for a perfect romance story.
Rogan and Harper have a love between them that will never end. It may have been broken, but even if they didn’t believe it, it was not past repair. They each made mistakes and have regrets but even years and miles apart couldn’t keep from finding each other again and now they have a chance at a new beginning to their story.
I am loving this quaint town of Port Snow Maine and these crazy Knightly brothers! I highly recommend that you check out this series because you will not be disappointed. This is book two and it can be read as a standalone.
Ok I have to say that this is one of my favorite books by Meghan Quinn! I love her style so much! What a sweet, sexy, funny and heartwarming story. I laughed, I swooned, I cried! But in the end it left me with a big satisfied smile on my face, and that is why I read. Rogan and Harper are adorable! I honestly love everything about this story even the difficult things because that is what makes Rogan and Harper who they are now and I love both of their characters so much! I love the way the story goes back and forth to the younger Harper and Rogan and back to present day because it gives us so much revealing information about their characters and behavior. After the first book in this series I knew I would adore Rogan & Harper’s amazing second chance love story too. This is such an awesome series! I love this family and their group texts are hysterical!! I can’t wait for more Knightlys’ and breaking of “the curse”!!!
I was lucky to get an ARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley!
First off, I love this cover. Totally caught my eye. LOVE.
There’s like an extra layer of emotion in a second chance romance. So far this series has been heart tugging in both books, but with Rogan and Harper, we watch them struggle past the years of heartbreak. It was so hard to read at first, and man, Rogan is a grumpy butt. I cried a few times, for both of them.
I love how big his family loves, as well. They meddle and push, but they are close-knit. I liked the back and forth from past to present, and both points of view. We needed it for the full picture. I’m not sure which brother I’m hoping to read about next, but I do know I’ll be reading them both!
A 2.5 star story
I loved book one in the series, and was looking forward to this one. Sadly, this second chance story did not meet my expectations.
While in book one we get a detailed description of “the curse” and how it affects the brothers, this one skims through “the curse” which might leave a new reader wondering about it.
For me, the story might have had a better flow if we weren’t going back and forth in time with the characters (HS, college etc). I found myself skipping pages just to get to the gist of the story. 50% into the book, I was still not engaged in the plot and though I considered not finishing it, I respect the efforts authors put into writing.
The dialogue at times was immature as was were the brothers.
Will I read book 3 in the series? Not sure, only time will tell. It was more
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Ah another Knightly brother. I’m really liking all of the brothers, their group texts are pretty entertaining. I do have to say that it took me a minute to not want to junk punch Rogan. For a hot minute there, he was kinda being a dick to Harper when she came back to town. There was a lot of guilt going around and he finally pulled his head outta his booty so that helped. Overall it’s a great second chance and it got me a wee bit emotional a time or two.
When i first read The Second Chance i was drawn the Rogan, he was stand-off-ish compared to his brothers, he was more serious but also just had this thing about him that i couldn’t put my finger on. Like don’t get me wrong i love all the Knightley brothers but Rogan is something else.
When i saw that this book was about Rogan i done a little happy dance, i totally thought he was going to be the last brother you hear about.
Rogan and Harper’s story is one of love and heartbreak and second chances but also power from within that they never knew they had. They had so much time to grow and reflect on themselves into the people they become and the absolute love they have for each other.
At first Rogan was like a bear with a sore head and was pretty unbearable (see what i did there) but he has his reasons, strong reasons that he needed to overcome by himself.
Harper was so strong. I loved her, she was fiesty and stood toe to toe with Rogan at times and i was totally fist pumping the air like “You go girl. Stand your ground”
All in all this book was beautiful. I needed this book in my life and I’m so greatful that Meghan wrote it.
I pray to see Reid and Brig’s story soon 😉
I absolutely loved this book!!
Back in Port Snow, we are introduced to Rogan Knightly, second oldest brother in the Knightly family. Now that their oldest brother has found someone the rest of the Knightly brothers are wondering if their curse is broken.
Rogan is as gruff as ever, closed off from everyone. But Harper Sanders, his high school sweetheart and ex-fiance, is back in town. And the Knightly family is determined to meddle and push them together.
The way this story was told was fantastic, it unfurled through flashes of present and past. The heartache, oh the heartache, there were moments of sadness, devastation, forgiveness, love and most of all hope.
Let me just tell you I cried at the initials MFG.
You definitely want to one click this book now. You will not be disappointed.
Harper Sanders is back in Port Snow after seven years. All she wants is to figure out her life and move on from her broken past, what better place to do that than home with her dad. The only problem with going home after so many years is that it’s never the same and holds the ghosts of memories. Rogan Knightly never believed in “the curse”. He knows exactly why his love is broken, in fact, he did broke it on purpose. After seeing Harper for the first time since she returned to town, Rogan can’t ignore her, now all he wants to do is get her to fall back in love with him. The only problem is that he can’t seem to stop being a jerk.
I absolutely adored this book. It was not a typical Meghan Quinn book, I haven’t read every book she’s written, but I have read quite a few, I can always count on her to be funny, while this book had funny moments, it had PLENTY of angst too. It was honestly a little bit of almost every trope, second chance, enemies to lovers, unrequited. I just loved it all. Harper and Rogan’s first interaction (and let’s be honest, the next few) had me wanting to kick him in the nuts for her, in the beginning of the book, I was rooting for them to NOT be together. As the book went on and I saw glimpses of their past it made his treatment of her that much harder to get over. When he did eventually realize what he wanted (to be with Harper of course) and he turned on the charm, holy crap was he charming and hard to hate. The funniest part of the entire book are the group texts between the Knightly siblings, they had me cracking up every time. This is a fantastic follow up to the first book, I’m excited to see who gets paired up net! Definitely recommend. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
I’m not sure where to begin.
This story really tugged at my heart. I really loved being back in Port Snow and reading about the Knightly family.
This is Rogan’s story and what an absolutely beautiful heartwarming but also sad story.
When his past love Harper moves back to town, nothing is quite the same for Rogan. I swear my heart was in overdrive at his inner turmoil. But had had such amazing support from his family, especially his brothers. What I truly loved about this book was the beautiful family bond, their text messages and overwhelming support for him. Made me want to be a part of the town. Can Rogan and Harper overcome the past and look to the future??
I laughed, cried and felt so many emotions for the characters. This was such a beautiful story, the author should be incredibly proud of what she has written.
What is forever and how long does it last? By definition; forever is a time that is eternal and never ending, and is something that lasts for an endless period of time. Rogan and Harper had loved each forever and a day, and had been friends since the sixth grade. As their relationship progressed, they had pledged to love each other until the end of time. But nothing ever happens as we envision it in our dreams and when Rogan’s life was turned upside down, he withdrew into himself and pushed everyone away, including Harper. It was the worst day of their lives and no one knew what the future held for either of them, or if their paths would ever cross again. Rogan felt undeserving of being anywhere near Harper, and when she returned home to Port Snow, he knew his quiet and lonely life would never be the same. Her magnetic personality and beauty drew him to her in an instant, which made him relive all of their memories, both good and bad. The pain was unbearable, but it was worth it to just be in the presence of the only woman he would ever love, his forever girl.
This one is my favorite of the series so far. A second chance storyline that stole my heart. Childhood best friend turn sweethearts with a tragic twist. I loved the chemistry between Rogan and Harper and was completely drawn in to their journey. I highly recommend this book.
