I haven’t read the first book in this series yet but this book got me super curious to read Griffin’s journey to finding love. I absolutely loved him in this one, he was a special person and definitely my fav of the Knightly brothers. I loved how nice he was with Harper and how he made everything special in Port Snow.
Now Rogan, at first I didn’t find him all that special and he was definitely a jerk to Harper but once you got to know him and saw all he had been through and what he did the past 7 years just so he felt close to the girl who’s heart he crushed… gosh he was pretty special. I love reading all about the different houses and how he revitalized them and I loved the That Forever Girl mystery, it was such a sad story but cute thing between Rogan and Harper. These two are so swoon worthy. Their journey to love wasn’t easy, it had a big bump and a lot of heartache involved but their love was so strong, so epic… there was no doubt these two were meant to be and that somehow they would always be each other’s end game.
Meghan really brought on the angst with this one. It was emotional and a definite tear jerker. All the heartbreak, regret and fear Harper and Rogan felt really hits deep but I’m so glad they grabbed their second chance and didn’t let go.
That Forever Girl was a super sweet, emotional and beautiful second chance romance that will warm your heart up. It had Christmas Hallmark movie vibes and I’m here for it. I have watched like 5 christmas movies this past week and let’s just say I can’t wait for fall, for halloween and then christmas. Totally loved this book and the holiday vibes it gave me and the love story was pretty special.
OK I just love this whole world of Port Snow, take me away to this fictional universe because I never want to leave this picturesque, characterful town! The Knightly brothers are quickly becoming my favourites of Meghan’s men, with every book in the Getting Lucky Series we learn more and I am addicted to all things Knightly!
Rogan and Harper’s story is a true second chance romance, they grew up together as best friends and ended up as high school sweethearts. College happened and one night changes their whole relationship and both their worlds fall apart. The set up of the book flicks back and forth between past and present to map out Harper and Rogan’s relationship. Starting from their friendship as preteens, you can see how they have reached the position they are in at present, unable to be around each other. Meghan sets up the distinction between past and present clearly, with chapter headings so you don’t get lost in the differing timelines. As you read through their past relationship you cannot doubt that Rogan and Harper are it for each other, yet you wonder what happened to rip them both apart.
In the present we have a very different Rogan and Harper, 7 years have passed since they last saw each other and things are tense. It’s clear there are unresolved feelings yet an attraction that has only increased with time too. I don’t mind an asshole Hero in a book and Rogan indeed acts like a dick towards Harper, while his brothers cringe watching their him dig a deeper hole for himself. Did I think Rogan was an douche – yes, there is no excuse for his rudeness; that said I think it’s a totally realistic behaviour for both Rogan and Harper when they have the history they have with each other and at this point in the story we have no clue about what happened between them. Harper is a lovable heroine, a woman not sure who she is and returns home to figure it all out not expecting to come face to face with Rogan where he strips her defences leaving her open to all the emotions she has been trying to hold down.
I don’t want to go too much into this story and there are a lot of elements at play, from a childhood romance mystery, self discovery, overcoming life changing events and the healing of friendship and love. Meghan writes the Knightly brothers banter brilliantly, packing so much character into each it’s clear how different their personalities are. I said it when reading Griffin’s book that Reid is the Knightly man for me and I am sticking to it! When Rogan gets his butt in gear and finally decides to own his feelings for Harper the book gets a different energy, it lifts and Rogan brings out his playful side. I mean I loved Broody Rogan but playful, flirtatious Rogan is lickable!
That Forever girl was such a fabulous read for me, Meghan has built this town and it’s characters so well I can visualise it perfectly, so much so I don’t want to leave the Port Snow bubble I am in when I am reading the Getting Lucky Series. I challenge anyone to read this books and not fall in love with the quaint and charming town or it’s inhabitants. So why not 5 stars? For the simple reason of I just wanted a little more about the obstacles both Hero and heroine faced that brought them to where they are now. I felt it was all rounded up in the last 8 – 10% of the novel and as touching and as real as the moments were I wanted just a smidge more. The subject matters I am referring to are relevant and powerful and ones that not many authors have the confidence to write about especially Rogan’s, I would have loved to explore it just a little more. That is me being SUPER fussy because this book is crazy good and I cannot tell you how much I want to read Brig and my man Reid’s stories because they are so different and I know Meghan is going to slay!
3.75 stars
This is a bit harder for me to rate. Certain parts of this story I LOVED while other parts I struggled with. That is hard for me to admit considering that I adore this author with everything that I am. Normally, I connect with the characters that this author writes but for some reason, Rogan and Harper never really managed to get me invested in them.
I struggled with how long it took for Rogan to decide to show Harper that he still loved her, especially after being so cruel to her when she came back home. For a man that had followed through on so many of the dreams that they had shared together, it just didn’t make much sense to me. Harper’s reason for coming back seemed to come very late in the story too. So late in fact that I worried if it was even going to be addressed or if this was going to become two books because it was so close to the conclusion. That was another thing that frustrated me on this one. Everything seemed so rushed towards the end which made me sad because I really wanted that a little more flushed out.
That being said, The text banter between the brothers had me cracking up. I am loving the connection between all these brothers and “the curse” especially knowing that there are two brothers to go. There is also a plot twist that I didn’t see coming. Even with the flashbacks, I had NO idea of a certain something in regards to Rogue. Even though this wasn’t my favorite from this author it was still very good and I would recommend it.
To be honest, I think Rogan’s story was the one I was least interested in….at first. In That Second Chance he was just ugh…hot? yes but acerbic, cranky…almost so disinterested in everything that beautiful town had to offer. But oh how that changed with this story. There is WAY more to Rogan than can ever be expected. Cocky and arrogant from his teenage years but as a young adult, we soon find out that there is a really serious, unexpected reason why he was that cranky guy in the first Getting Lucky book. We find out that the past, all the good and the bad, is what drives him to do everything he does. There are a few surprises (who is That Forever Girl) and a bit of a twist I never saw coming. Harper is the lynch pin in his life and without her…he just keeps moving forward but never going anywhere. Rogan is what Harper fears most in her life but what she needs most although she is definitely fighting tooth and nail to never go down that rabbit hole again. Despite the fact that his is the story i was least interested in, Meghan Quinn gave me exactly what I needed.
This is the second book that I have read from Meghan Quinn. I have several books of hers on my TBR but I haven’t reached them yet. This is book 2 in the Getting Lucky series and they are standalones so you won’t miss anything if you don’t read the first book. This was the story of Rogan and Harper who were high school sweethearts until disaster strikes and he breaks up with her. She returns to Port Snow years later and it forces him to reevaluate his feelings for her. Can they work it out and rekindle their love that never really died? This is a second chance mixed with enemies to lovers’ romance with a side of heartache. You will get it all in this book. The chemistry between Rogan and Harper, even though he tried to fight it, was great and you can feel it coming off the pages. I really enjoyed this book. If you pick this up, you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
swooooooooon
Rogan and Harper have history . A lot of history. They were friends thru childhood, school and even college. They were engaged to be married. They shared many a firsts with each other until ….. they didn’t. It’s seven years later now and it’s their second chance to get it right .
Their journey is told in dual POV and runs back forth between the past and the present. These two are kismet and that connection is glowing throughout the story. I loved everything about this book. I could read it over again right now and I just finished a few days ago! It is one of the most tender, heartwarming, passionate and heartbreaking journey I have read in a time! I am constantly reading so it takes quite a bit to grab me for hours on end and Harper and Rogan did that! I couldn’t read fast enough yet I never wanted to stop!
If I’ve learned anything from this book is that I have certainly not read enough of Meghan Quinn’s work. This feel good thing happening between these pages is glorious and I can’t wait to dive into more of her work!
I fell in love with the Knightly brothers in Book 1 of The Getting Lucky Series “That Second Chance”. Once again Meghan Quinn gives us another incredible love story. Rogan and Harper are childhood sweethearts, all their firsts are together and you get an incredible sense of the love they shared through flashbacks throughout the book. After a devastating accident, Rogan feeling devasted and unworthy breaks it off with Harper. Fast forward seven years and Harper and Rogan are forced to coexist in their small town when she returns home. The chemistry is still there coupled with meddling family members and in your face neighbors the two of them are destined to relive their past. Admitting that they still care for each other does not come easy. It is a long a torturous journey but Rogan’s love for her is present in every action and her love for him is ever present. What an incredible second chance romance, thank you Meghan Quinn and I look forward to reading Reid and Brett’s stories.

5 BEAUTIFUL EMOTIONAL STARS!! Oh my…..This book squeezed my heart. Rogan and Harper’s story is heartbreaking, but so beautifully written. Their story had me in tears, smiling, family, drama, oh my goodness moments and lot of love. These two love each other so much, will they get a second chance. I love this authors writing style, she definitely know how to pulls us readers into the story.
I know book two is a little early to be calling a favorite Knightly brother, but I don’t see it getting better than Rogan (I adored Griffin; Brig and Reid – prove me wrong).
I LOVE ROGAN! How can you not? Don’t get me wrong, he definitely tries to make you not like him. He’s moody, grumpy, and sometimes downright mean. But he’s hurting, he’s struggling, and as the pieces of his past reveal why he’s that way, you begin to understand. Be patient with him. Underneath that hardened, gruff exterior he’s an amazing guy. He’s sweet, funny, charismatic, cocky, smart, and oh so sexy.
I don’t know why, but I came into this story automatically not liking Harper. I felt oddly protective of Rogan after reading Griffin’s story and I just wanted to see him happy and for some reason had it in my head that she couldn’t be good enough for him. But as I got to know her, I couldn’t help but adore her. I can see why Rogan fell in love with her. She’s so sweet, loyal, and loving. She’s beyond patient but she’s not without her own struggles.
You guys…this story is amazing! It was a roller coaster of emotions, and is by far one of the best Meghan Quinn books I’ve read to date. These characters stick with you, make you fall in love with them, and root for them to find their ways. I absolutely love the Knightly brothers and this whole town.
This one gets ALL the stars from me!
Put time aside to finish this book in one sitting. YES, it is that good that you will not want to put it down so you can find out what happens, and who the mystery mistress is!!! When you take a second chance at love, but the characters actually ‘hate’ each other, it makes a great story! Put it all in a picturesque small town in the North East, and you have a perfect book.
I really love how Meghan describes each location, and the surrounding areas. It makes you feel like you are walking down the street and seeing all of the beautifulness with the characters.
The characters are well put together. Their journey from high school lovers to adults that hate/love each other is amazing. Cannot wait to see what comes next.
My heart is too full of the touching and soul-stirring emotions after finishing That Forever Girl by Meghan Quinn. It was like a fairy tale but with twists and turns making it real. I have been rooting for Rogan and Harper with all my heart.
Small Town romance has it’s own charm. And this specific town in That Forever Girl is no exception. Rogan has been one of the favorite Knightly boys of the town but he is under curse of broken love ( superstitious or not). And when his childhood sweetheart aka best friend Harper is back in town and his curse may be lifted after all. But ( and that is a big one) he broke her heart in millions of tiny pieces. Can he make her whole again? Specially when Harper has never stopped loving him?
What I loved most about the story is Rogan’s evolutions over the years. He was an immature, angry and bitter boy who was in full on self destruction mode when he pushed away Harper. He was in a bad place after he lost his dream and he took it out on Harper. But over the years he became a better man and is coping with every negative feelings. And he has made something out of his life and I admire and respect him. My heart was breaking for Harper. This woman is a lost soul until she found home in Rogan again. I love her compassionate and loving and caring heart. It was disheartening to see her spirit down with life’s challenges. But Rogan’s over the top gestures compensated a lot of it.
The chemistry was absolutely amazing. The story actually spreads across years. All the phases of this larger than life romance were brilliantly written. Meghan Quinn used her trademark snark, humor and sarcasm those made me laugh like crazy. And she also poured a lot of intense and stunning emotions those made me swoon, sigh and cry. It was an emotional rollercoaster. It was a soft, sweet and sexy love story that transcends across time!

That Forever Girl is the second book in the Getting Lucky series by Meghan Quinn and is definitely the show stealer! I love a great enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance and I have to say that Rogan and Harper nailed it! The relationship between the two from past to present is fun, sexy and yet absolutely heartbreaking. I enjoyed the flashbacks to Rogan and Harper’s past, which leads us to all the amazing things that Rogan has done to make amends with the past he so desperately needs to get over. I love that you really feel the connection between Rogan and Harper and get insight on how they got to where they are now. I fell head over heels for That Forever Girl and hope for more Knightly family fun 😉
I was excited to get back to Port Snow! I love all the Knightly boys so I was looking forward to reading Harper and Rogan’s story. I liked how this story goes back and forth from present day to Harper and Rogan as teenagers. We see glimpses at a time as to how their relationship began. Harper is friends with the rest of his family so she can’t avoid him forever. This book gave me ALL THE FEELS and I never wanted to put this book down! I adored this read and think you shouldn’t miss this fantastic book!
EEP! I have been waiting for Rogan and Harper’s story since I finished That Second Chance – and it was well worth the wait! Meghan Quinn is an amazing author – she gives you all the feels in all of her stories, but I think this one is my favorite! FIVE STARS!!
I loved the way this one began, had me laughing and immediately happy to be back with these four Knightly brothers. The way the author tells the story is so good. She doesn’t let us know exactly all what the background was, just that they’d had a bad breakup. I also love the way we got to do the flashback chapters in this story, to see how their romance developed from their friendship. By doing that, we got to see how they went from so, so good and happy, to so sad and being in a bad place. The author totally took that bad bit that brought Rogan out of his football future in a different way than I would ever have expected. I really like how Quinn can keep me from reading exactly what you expect, she keeps it new and unique for each story. But I loved the characters as well as all the perfectness in the story. I could kind of figure out why Harper was back without her spelling it out. I like that she didn’t want to let it define her and how people dealt with her though. That was also a new way to take that aspect of the story. And then there was the whole “forever girl” bit in the story, the love letters, the fact that Harper was really Rogan’s forever girl, and the MFG detail too. I loved Rogan and Harper’s story, but also getting to be around the Knightly family as well. While I thought I knew who some of the brothers might end up with, the author gave hints for different romantic interests and I can’t wait for the next two brothers’ stories, especially Brig, as he cracks me up so much!
It felt like I waited for this book forever, when in reality it was just a small handful of months. The wait was well worth it. Now I am chomping at the bit for the next two books!
I tend to enjoy this author’s writing. She is entertaining and engaging. Her characters jump out at you and grab your hand, taking you on their journey. This one is no different. I was all-in once I started this book.
There is nothing better than second chance romance and enemy to lovers romance all in one. I am a sucker for them, when written well. And this one is written extremely well. I giggled. I smiled. I frowned. I got a little mad. I went through the characters’ emotions right along with them.
I am always curious if the author can keep the stories original in standalone series like this. Quinn doesn’t disappoint with unique storylines for each of her characters. Bring on book three, please!
That Forever Girl is the second book in the Getting Lucky Series and it follows the story of Rogan and Harper. Once upon a time, Rogan and Harper had that once in a lifetime, life altering love. They had their who lives ahead of them and nothing could tear these two lovebirds apart. That is until tragedy strikes. All it takes is one moment. One painful moment for everything Harper and Rogan wanted to be ripped apart and turned upside down. It will be years before Harper returns to Port Snow and when she does, her return awakens something buried deep within Rogan. Try as he might, he can’t stop thinking of Harper. He’s not the same man that Harper once knew. Despite their painful past, a love like theirs refuses to be extinguished. Will Harper and Rogan grab on to the second chance life has presented them?? There’s only one way to find out….
That Forever Girl is the kind of story that just grabs you from the very first page. It’s got all of my favorite troupes mixed into one heartbreaking story. We’ve got high school sweethearts whose future was ripped out from beneath them. Who are now shells of whom they once were. They take enemies to lovers to the next level. And when you add in the perfect small town, you’ve got a second chance romance that is guaranteed to put your heart through the paces. Yes, That Forever Girl has it all. It’s got drama and angst. There’s heartache and romance. There are extremely frustrating characters. That’s right, Rogan, I’m talking about you!!! In all seriousness, Rogan drove me completely and totally batty. He claimed to still be madly in love with Harper, yet he couldn’t stop being a jerk to her. And I mean, he was a total jerk. Never have I ever wanted to reach inside my kindle and slap a fictional character the way that I wanted to with Rogan. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t stop messing up. It was like the second he opened his mouth, he stuck his foot in it. I honestly never thought he was going to be able to redeem himself. But, I am happy to report that Rogan totally does. When you get to the heart of his story, you can better understand his actions. I didn’t agree with his actions, but I understood them.
One of things I really enjoyed about this story was the pull between Rogan and Harper. No matter how much Rogan messed up, that pull was still there. It was tangible and undeniable. I loved the banter between Rogan and Harper and really enjoyed their interactions. I loved that Harper made Rogan sweat it a bit. She didn’t just give in and forgive him. She made him work for his second chance and it was a totally satisfying thing to experience.
Overall, I thought this book was a terrific read. I loved getting lost in the characters and their story. And I think it was a perfect addition to the Getting Lucky Series.
***4 Stars***
After reading That Second Chance, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the books in the series, so I was all kinds of excited to dive into this baby and in the end, I ended up loving Rogan and Harper, but lemme tell you…If it hadn’t been for the Knightly clan, I may have had to toss this baby into the freezer. The frustration was soooo real…but thankfully that lightbulb moment happened and from then on, I couldn’t put the book down and was very happy with where Rogan and Harper ended up.
Rogan. This man. I hurt for him. I wanted to take 2×4 to his head and knock some sense into him but I also ended up falling in love with him once the walls he’d built up came tumbling down and the sweet man with a good heart underneath it all finally came out to play. I really liked Harper. She’s sweet, sassy and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She’s at a crossroads of sorts and I loved how honest she was through it all and how she came out stronger on the other side.
Harper and Rogan’s journey was a lesson in frustration because it was so easy to see how good they were together. I couldn’t fault either of them for what had gone down when they broke up, it was just a horrible time all around, but I will admit I tended to be #teamharper when it came to all that was, and wasn’t happening, in their present. Thankfully they get the nudges they needed, thanks the Knightly clan as well as all the inhabitants of Port Snow, and I loved how they put the past to rest so they could have a future.
This was another fun read in the Getting Lucky series. Yes, this one kicked the frustration level up a notch, and at times dragged a bit for me, but it was tempered by the meddling and crazyness of the Knightly clan and with that said, I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one because if that little moment was any indication, it looks like the next Knightly brother will definitely be knocked on his ass…hard.

NO SPOILERS!
That Forever Girl was a MASTERPIECE of contemporary romance, and has been my FAVORITE novel from Meghan Quinn to date! Meghan completely outdid herself with this second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance. She made me laugh, cry, and swoon so hard, and I couldn’t have loved Rogan and Harper’s journey more. The Getting Lucky series has been EXTRAORDINARY so far, and I can’t wait to devour the rest in Brig and Reid’s books to come!
The storyline and characters were PHENOMENAL. The plot was so much more than I expected, and I couldn’t have imagined anything more perfect if I tried. Rogan and Harper’s love story was sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, emotional, angsty, and utter PERFECTION! I once again fell head over heels in love with Port Snow, Maine, and all of its residents, especially the Knightly family. Rogan, Harper, all of the Knightlys, and several other secondary characters were amazing, and I loved them all so much.
That Forever Girl was EVERYTHING you could ever want in a contemporary romance, and it had all of Meghan Quinn’s signature heart, humor, and heat, which was the icing on the cake! Rogan and Harper’s love story was a MUST READ, and has been my FAVORITE romance from this author so far. The Getting Lucky series has exceeded all of my wildest expectations, and I absolutely can’t wait to read more love stories set in the quaint and idyllic small town of Port Snow, Maine!
*4.5 stars*
Meghan Quinn brings us back to Port Snow, Maine for her second book in her series on the Knightly Brothers. I loved book one, so I was eager to get my hands on this one and it did not disappoint. While this is still a standalone, you really should read the first book to get everything in more detail. This book focuses on Rogan. The banter between the brothers was top notch as always! The family members and the town were back to their usual meddling!
This is a dual point of view, second chance trope with chapters in both past and present. Rogan and Harper were high school sweethearts, engaged, when he broke off their relationship. There is a little bit of a mystery to why this is, and that all comes out in the past chapters. I will say the reveal was definitely unexpected! Harper moves back to Port Snow, and so there’s an unknown reason as to why Harper is all of a sudden back in town. These two were incredible together, and I really loved their past the most. I do wish there were more chapters with them back together in the end. But, I’m hoping we’ll see a lot more of them in Brig’s and Reid’s book. So looking forward to the next books in this series!
