Megan Quinn writes one emotional, heart wrenching second chance love story with her new release That Forever Girl, book two in the Getting Lucky series.
Once again, Quinn brings us back to small town Port Snow and takes us to our favorite Knightly brothers. However this time, she focuses on the second chance love story between Rogan and Harper. These two were childhood best friends who faced every first together as they grew up until life took them different directions and fate brought them back together. Their love story is a brutal curse that only the strong willed and determined romance readers can survive.
Quinn gives you a raw, real and emotional story with these two deeply intertwined characters that I think you’ll have a hard time putting down. I certainly did. Whether it is the love story, the meddling family or the ignited passion, I believe this one is certainly worth your one click.
Bittersweet second chance romance brimming with angst and hilarious humor.
This is book 2 in the Getting Lucky series, and I didn’t think I would say this but I liked it even more than Book1!
This is brother Rogan and Harper’s story. They were childhood friends and high school sweethearts with hopes for a future together. However, a moment in time shattered that future. When they see each other 7 years later, adding a certain “curse” Rogan’s endured, he feels doomed. And he behaves pretty doomed as well.
Is it himself or does he believe the curse?
Luckily, the Knightly family knocks some sense into him, otherwise I would not have like him or how the story evolved.
Told in dual POV past and present, I was able to get a clear perspective of how the characters developed and what happened to them that lead to their fall out. For me it was refreshing to see how realistic and relatable the characters were. While Rogan and Harper still felt some chemistry they recognized they had some painful unresolved issues that needed to be worked out.
The result was a swoonworthy, passionate and emotional slow burn story. Rogan and Harper’s story had some unexpected twists that made their story emotional and complicated.
Their dialogue was full of snark and sarcastic humor giving their story another dimension making their story even more interesting. Their inner struggles gave their story a little more depth and intensity that made their story more captivating and romantic.
I loved the back and forth dialogue with all the family members. Rogan was rude and nasty but everyone around him put him in his place. It was nice seeing the dark broody alpha eat humble pie.
While this book can certainly be read as a standalone, why would you.
My only issues with this installment was that there was one big force affecting each of the Knightly brothers. A certain curse by a fortune teller during a brothers’ trip to New Orleans. This issue was only briefly explained in Book2.
Also, the ending felt a bit rushed, and after all the build up i needed more!
Nevertheless, I loved this story and this family and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
4.5 stars for Harper and Rogan !
This was the second book that I’ve read by Meghan Quinn and it was a really good one.
Unfortunately, I didn’t read the first book from this series but that didn’t bother my reading because this book is standalone.
But, of course, I would like to read the first book.
“That Forever Girl” is a love story about two young people, Harper and Rogan, which will make you cry and smile through the whole book.
I love that this book has flashbacks which help you to understand characters actions and how everything happened between them before the time they are right now.
If you love a heartbreaking love story, this book is absolutely for you !
A second chance romance that will melt all the snow in Port Snow!
Young love…these are stories that make my heart flutter. But not only is this a story about young love it’s also a story about second chances. I loved how we got to go back in time to when it all began and as the story goes one we find out how and why their relationship ended. Then the story weaves in and out to present day to see how they get back together. It is an excellent way to incorporate the past and the present. I loved how the author incorporated a romance movie channel into the story because this is exactly the type of story you would see on a channel like that. It was perfect! It is definitely a feel good love story with several laugh out loud moments and but also several swoony moments as well! This is a must read story for all romance lovers!
That Forever Girl is amazing book in the Getting Lucky series. Meghan has already proved in the past that she knows how to write a small-town romance story and this book is no exception. It wasn’t Meghan’s typical rom-com, however she totally rocked the emotional second-chance plotline and there are still bits of her humor here and there throughout the book.
Rogan and Harper have a long history and this book included their past as well as their present story. It was very insightful to understand how their relationship worked in the past. Rogan quickly became one of my favorite male protagonists for his spirit, his endurance, his character. He managed to make a name for himself despite all the obstacles life has thrown at him. And I couldn’t help but swoon over his romantic gestures! I swear he is one of the most swoon worthy characters I’ve even read. Harper gave the mysterious vibe from the start and it was quite captivating to follow throughout the story. This story takes place after she moves back to her hometown, so it was interesting to read about her circumstances.
Overall this is a really great story. Great plot lines and twist, nicely build-up characters with amazing chemistry. Definitely worth reading. I’d recommend reading the first book first just to get to know the town and the secondary characters, but it can be read as a standalone as well.
Seriously…can I just be adopted by the Knightlys if I can’t marry into them?
I love this family so much and Rogan and Harper just gave me all the feels. Yes there were moments when I wanted to punch the second oldest Knightly brother in his face but, oh boy, did he step up in the end.
This story checked so many boxes; small town romance, second chance romance, a dash of enemies to lovers, and family that doesn’t know the definition of minding their own business.
Loved this book.
In this second story to the series, we get to see Rogan and what is happening for him. Who is Harper? How does Rogan know her? Who is her best friend? There is a lot of alluding to an accident. When I finally got to read about the accident, my heart shattered. Dang…. I was uncertain as I read if I would see an HEA at the end. I’m not going to tell you what happens, you are going to have to read and see if everything can be worked out.

Author Meghan Quinn delivers a powerful and heartfelt story of a second chance romance.
As soon as you begin reading this book, your heart will be filled with that first love vibes of high school sweethearts who just make your heart soar.
I want to live in this quaint little town they lived in.
The way Author Meghan Quinn describes this town makes you feel like you are witnessing a Hallmark movie come to life as you turn each page.
Rogan had my heart instantly just like Harper. He is a broken soul with a HUGE romantic heart bottled up inside even though over shocking turn of events, he thinks will forever be alone because he is not worthy.
Harper is a strong woman who comes back to her hometown looking to see if she can find herself again and when she sees Rogan, she knows that there is a reason why she came back.
Add some good old fashion mystery into the town gossip of romantic affairs which will keep you guessing till the end on who owns the Manor.
I enjoyed that this book is told in dual points of view and goes back & forth from present and past.
Soo much love and depth into the characters development from their childhood to adults is what made this book one that I truly enjoyed reading.

I have to say this was a first time reading one of Meghan Quinn’s book and I absolutely loved it. It was a great book. Harper is a woman that is trying to figure out what she wants to do in her life. It shows her weaknesses and her strong points. Rogan is a man that is trying to get by and forgiving his past. It is hard to do when his long time lover is back in town to stay. He tries to ignore her and that doesn’t work. This book shows their friendship and relationship ups and downs. And seeing that they finally work through it was amazing. Highly recommend reading this book. I couldn’t put it down. It had me smiling and also sad. Love this book.
Rogan and Harper were the it couple for a long time. When Rogan broke her heart, they went their separate ways. Only one problem, now their back in same town and the tension is thick. Can they get along? Is there a chance they could get back together?
5 swoonworthytastic stars!
Be still my heart, Rogan and Harper are simply amazing, both separate and together. The curse that has the entire town buzzing may be coming to an end for one brother. Rogan and Harper were childhood bestfriends turned sweethearts. These two were going places together until fate intervened. Now however, there is a second chance at love when Harper moves back to town. The only problem? She definitely does not forgive Rogan for their past. Will love overcome obstacles?
Ms. Quinn has a knack for writing characters that you can relate to, i.e Harper, who’s funny, smart, and just trying to get through a tough time. Also, characters like Rogan that you want to do more than relate to… He’s strong, kind, and has accomplished so much in his life. I had all the feels reading That Forever Girl, smiles, swoons, and of course laughs. I’m adoring this series, and you definitely want to pick them up!
This book was like a puzzle. You see Harper come back to the small, quaint town Port Snow. She’s come back seven years after she and Rogan broke up. She says she’s here to help her father but Rogan doesn’t believe it. In fact Rogan doesn’t seem to want her there at all. Why? We get bits of the story through flashbacks in their childhood where they went from innocent best friends to first time lovers with a love that seemed it would endure anything thrown at it. So what happened? We get to know all the pieces of the puzzle through the seamless back and forth between their past and current lives. Through that we learn what happened to Rogan to make him so unhappy and why he’s made the choices he has in his adult life. This book gives you all the feels. Laughter, pain, sadness, joy, and a happily ever after that will not only leave you happy, it will make you want to live in a town like Port Snow! This is another 5 star rating from me!
I was generously provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 Stars
This is the second book in the series and I loved it as much as the first. You can just get lost in this book. I loved the small town setting. This is a great second chance romance between Rogan and Harper. They were high school sweethearts until life through them a curve ball. Now years later fate has given them an opportunity for a second chance. Can they move past their past and the curse that is on the Knightly boys? You can feel the hurt and pain both characters have about their past, but you can also feel the deep connection they share. It’s a book you do not want to pass up!
5 Stars
Be still my second chance romance heart! Seriously, Meghan Quinn makes me want to live in Port Snow and find my own Knightly brother. Rogan and Harper’s story is beautiful to watch unfold. They’ve been friends forever, then lovers, and when Harper thought her life couldn’t get any better, one fateful night changes the course of their lives and Rogan calls things off.
Now seven years later, Rogan is standoffish and miserable and when Harper moves back to town, he tries so hard to fight the fact he’s still in love with her. Watching them let their walls fall and their feelings run free is a beautiful thing. Meghan Quinn definitely has another hit with this Knightly brother and I can’t wait to see Brig and Reid beat the curse!
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
They started out as best friends as kids then became a couple when they got older. After an accident Rogan pushed Harper away breaking her heart. Now that she’s back in town to stay they need to learn to live near each other again. Overall this book was good, my biggest problem was that at times I felt this book was kind of slow. The upside, literal laugh out loud moments, it got my emotions all over the place and my favorite part was it took some serious groveling to get back in Harpers good graces.
These Knightley boys are everything. Book two in the series features Rogan (second oldest of the brothers.) Broken, broody, successful and still so gorgeous. Him and his longtime best friend and high school sweetheart had a nasty breakup while away at college, and now she’s back in town after seven years away. Harper is a good person who lost herself along the way, but she’s back to discover who she is and what she wants in life. The town ain’t big enough for the two of them. This is a second chance romance as well as an enemies to lovers romance. The supporting characters bring a lot to the book. A lot of entertainment value. There is the angst that comes with dealing with an ex, as well as remembering the good times and the love you once shared. While the characters have heavy hearts and aren’t all upbeat, the book itself isn’t overly emotional. There are plenty of laughs along the way. It’s a well told story. Alternates between POVs. And goes back and forth in time from their youth to the present day. There is a small amount of sexual content. This is book two of the Getting Lucky series, but each can be read as a stand alone. I would suggest reading them in order though so you get more of a feel for each of the brothers and their romantic lives (or lack of) without spoilers.
*I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley.
That Forever Girl is the second book in the Getting Lucky Series and is the second brother Rogan’s turn for his story to be told. And, this is a second chance romance!
Second book, Second brother and Second Chance.
The Knightly brothers Griffin, Rogan, Reid, and Brig went to New Orleans to celebrate Brig turning 21 and to get wasted. What they brought home with them was a curse from fortune teller that none of them would find love.
Harper has returned to her home town and all she hoping is that she will not run into Rogan. Harper and Rogan were engaged before a tragic accident happened and Rogan broke up with Harper. Now Harper is back and Rogan can’t stay away. Harper is facing some pretty hard feelings about the way they broke up.
There were some pretty heart felt moments while reading That Forever Girl! I did a little laughing and had some tears falling for this couple. They are meant to be together! I loved Rogan in That Second Chance. These Knightly boys do not know how to butt out of the others business.
These stories make you live and see through the eyes of the characters! I love this series and I can’t wait to read Reid and Brig’s stories!
Holy feels!! This book has them all! Another hit from Meghan Quinn!!! I laughed, I cried and I rooted for these amazing characters to find their happily ever after!!
That Forever Girl, is the second book in Meghan Quinn’s series, Getting Lucky, set in the small town of Port Snow, Maine. I am so in love with this beautiful world and the entire Knightly family!
I’m a sucker for second chance romances and absolutely loved Harper and Rogan’s story. Yes, there is some major communication issues which led to their first relationship ending but what relationship has perfect communication?
As I read more books with flashbacks, I have become a lot pickier about them. I can say I absolutely loved the ones in this story. It takes us all the way back to when Harper and Rogan were just friends and all of the moments that led to their first kiss, their plans for the future, and ultimately the end of their relationship. Watching them come back together and have to overcome their past was what second chances are made of.
I quickly fell in love with the entire family in this first book and I can’t wait to watch the rest of the family get their happily ever afters. I’m, not so secretly, the most excited for Brig’s story! He’s so sappy and a true believer in love. I can’t wait to watch him get his happily ever after!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
Some of my favorite romances involve second chances, involve friends becoming lovers, and my joy is even higher when the romance is set in a small town. Ms. Quinn’s latest tale manages to combine all that and more though in a romance that warmed my heart and put a smile on my face. On a whole readers will quickly find themselves drawn to this story’s bruised hero, who appears to have it all, and the battered heroine returning home to find all that she’s been missing in a romance that captivates.
Rogan Knightly and Harper were always meant to be….at least that’s how it appeared all those years ago as they became friends as children before becoming each other’s everything on their way to college. That’s where everything changed though, changed him on an individual level as well as breaking them apart as a couple. Years have passed and when readers first meet Rogan we see a man of means, someone commanding and in control, and a bit closed-off. It’s quite a change from the younger version who was charming, sweet, and full of hope for a future with Harper. This older version is more jaded and a bit cruel at times and his demeanor put HEA in grave doubt. The Rogan of today was a bit hard to love but thankfully the power of love soon worked its magic on him and us to reach their hard-fought HEA. I enjoyed seeing Rogan evolve over the years, see how fate affected him, and on a whole I enjoyed the realism of his evolution despite how frustrated I was in him at times. Though his reunion with Harper went badly at first, because of his own self-loathing over his past actions, I was still rooting for them and him and was ultimately rewarded in a journey that kept me on edge until the very end. Rogan had A LOT to atone for after what he did in the past, after all his hurtful words now, and thankfully that charming young boy returns to win Harper back…with a bit of help from his family along the way.
Harper Sanders and Rogan were two peas in a pod as children before learning all about love and sex on the way to college in a journey that put a smile on my face. They seemed destined to be together forever until Rogan suddenly left without a word. Harper’s return home though gives her the chance to figure out what happened all those years ago and quite possibly help her find her own HEA. When readers meet Harper we see an appealing heroine who’s contently going through life. She’s not wealthy like Rogan but she’s satisfied with where she is. Coming into contact with Rogan again after years apart makes for an awkward first contact, but at least it will finally provide closure. What occurs though is anything but closure as they once again find the spark that they had in their younger years in a romance that slow-burned back to life. Harper’s clearly been hurt by Rogan so I felt very protective of her from the start but I was happy to see slow changes in them both the more they interacted. Page turn by page turn Harper stood up for herself more while Rogan finally explained his actions of long ago which made their second chance richly rewarding and well worth the wait.
On a whole I found this to be a charming and endearing romance of second chances between two former first loves set in a small town full of colorful characters who played the part of matchmaker. With sweet and joyful glimpses of this couple’s early interactions we fell in love right alongside them and it was a heartwarming sight to behold. When Rogan left Harper, my heart was broken too. I was angered by Rogan’s actions early on, and though I was satisfied by his explanation and his groveling, I never forgave him completely though I appreciate the effort. The romance between these two started off with much promise but got very rocky as the story progressed. Things didn’t truly get more romantic until much later in this story which I was waiting for with bated breath. Helping this couple reach their HEA were the delightful denizens of their small town who utterly charmed me courtesy of the humorous interactions between the townspeople and this couple that made me smile. Rogan’s texting with his brothers was especially entertaining with brotherly banter that made me love the Knightly family all the more and has me excited to get the next brother’s story told.
