Second chance stories can be tough. Got to have a good reason for the split, a reason for the continued separation, and the characters have to have grown past the problem in the meantime without changing so much that they are no longer the perfect couple. Rogan and Harper are a great example of this and Quinn tells their story masterfully.
Rogan and Harper grew up together and were best friends and that turned into being in love with each other. Something happens and Rogan pushes Harper away. 7 years later they are both back in their home town. Can they stop hating and find love again. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed book 1 in this series that I just couldn’t wait to revisit Port Snow and the Knightly family. This book revolves around Rogan and his high school sweetheart Harper. The two were best friends, then lovers and eventually engaged. We don’t know the reason for their breakup until pretty far into the story, but Harper’s back in town and both are realizing that they never fell out of love.
I really enjoyed the banter between the Knightly siblings and Rogan/Harper. The whole reason for the breakup was a twist I didn’t see coming and it just made the story so much better. And since it’s the holiday season it was a nice touch for Harper to get a job with “Lovemark” as they make a movie in Port Snow.
The narration of William LeRoy and Reese Covington was solid. While I sometimes cringed at some of the voices they used, overall, I was happy with their performances. Their pacing was great and the performance filled with emotion. I’d gladly listen to either of these narrators again.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
This was good but not great for me purely because of personal preferences. In That Forever Girl, Harper moves back to Port Snow, Maine seven years later giving these two a second chance at love.
What I didn’t like about it was that a big portion of the book is Rogan making Harper’s return uncomfortable for her and ending up having these two behaving a bit immaturely towards each other.
I would have love to have seen Rogan realizing his shot at fixing what happened to them years before instead of trying to push Harper away. He is obviously still in love with her and I just prefer a man to go after what he wants.
What I did love about this is what really drew me in with the first book. I love the small town setting of Port Snow, Maine where everyone butts into everybody else’s business. I also love all the banter and interactions with the Rogan and his brothers and sister. Their text messages were hilarious.
Despite this one just being ok for me, I am looking forward to the next brother’s story.
3.5 stars!! I couldn’t wait to dive in to this one because I read the first book which was AMAZING. This one was good but it took me alittle while to finish it. I loved it but I didn’t. I think it’s because for me it has to many flashbacks. But I understand why because we needed to know what happen back in the day. I love happy endings and I can’t wait to read the third book.
Rogan Knightly is the next Knightly Brother to have a story in this series.
His story is a Second Chance. Harper has been in Rogan’s life since they were six, he was a high school football star they went off to college together. But an accident breaks them apart. Harper is back in Port Snow Maine for good and they have to fight their way back to each other- Loved It
Oh this book! I love second chance romances, and this one did NOT disappoint. Best friends as kids, Rogan Knightly and Harper Sanders so begin a romance during high school. They combine their dreams together and go to the same college. Until an accident happens and Rogan takes off and leaves Harper behind. He goes back to Port Snow while she does her best to stay away until she needs to go back to lick her wounds from another relationship. You get more knighlty family interference, you get more Port Snow, there’s a little mystery woven in all the while Rogan tries his best to win his former Best friend back and mend the two hearts he broke in college.
After finally devouring That Second Chance back in July, I couldn’t wait to get more of the Knightly brothers. I was especially stoked for Rogan’s story because it was another second chance romance. Y’all know those are my jam. That Forever Girl was an excellent addition to Meghan’s Getting Lucky series. Boy do I love these Knightly brothers. (And their ladies!)
I’ll be the first to admit That Forever Girl is a bumpy ride. Rogan was grumpy and closed off. I liked Harper, but it did take me a little time to connect with her. There was no doubt there was still a bit of a flame lingering between them, but it took awhile for things to progress. And I wanted to shake both of them at various times along the way. All that said, the pacing and the story felt authentic for them. I do love a good, frustrating (and even angsty) slow burn. That Forever Girl was all of the above.
Without giving too many of the details of Harper and Rogan’s story away, I can tell you I swooned super freaking hard for this one. His grand gesture? Oh my word. If I hadn’t already been half in love with him at that point, that would’ve sealed the deal. So romantic! As with the first book, I found myself nearly as enamored by the town and its people as I did the romance. Not slighting the romance here. The setting and characters were just that good. I can’t wait for the third!

First of all, let me get this off of my chest…. I never dreamt of having an harem until I met the the Knightly brothers
HOLY MOLY!! I love them ALL!!
“the Knightlys—they all carry this gene that makes it impossible for any of them to be unattractive.”
The banter, the conversations between the brothers were epic but their text exchanges were LEGENDARY!! Tears were rolling down my cheeks because I was laughing so hard!
“The Knightlys are meddlers; it’s one of my family’s most annoying traits.”
Now let’s focus on Rogan and Harper, they are without a doubt one of my favourite couples written by Meghan Quinn- MY FOREVER COUPLE #MFC
Their story snuck up on me and for that I’m FOREVER grateful.
“Rogan and Harper, we’re a BOGO; if you buy one, you get one.”
That Forever Girl was a seriously addictive slow burn romance. It just really hit the spot for me. Great characters, slow burn romance, funny and heart-breaking interactions, and when the heat finally hits, it’s delightful.
“I like to believe that some people hold the beat of another human’s heart in theirs, and they spend their entire lives searching for the owner.”
Harper and Rogan were meant to be, until faith changed everything, changed their forever.
Years later, Harper is back living with her dad. She was always known as Rogan’s girl so, to have become the one that got away, is an emotional title to carry. Harper is a strong woman who tries hard to protect herself from being vulnerable again. Her past has changed her and affected her in so many ways but the memories she has with Rogan, their secret spots where they used to meet and love each other … all of these are forever etched in her memory.
Same faith for Rogan… Rogan is a new man. A man who is cursed, a man who is successful, determine and wealthy but alone… incapable to move on from “ MFG”
“No one who has ever loved another person, and I mean truly loved them, can just be friends. It’s not possible, because no matter what, the breakup will always hang over their heads like a giant neon sign.”
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH- I love his vulnerability, his insecurities and his alpha attitude.
The story and its characters completely sucked me in and once I was there, I didn’t want to leave. I’m perfectly connected with all of them.
Meghan Quinn’s writing style is flawless, so easy to read. My Forever Favourite Couple, I couldn’t admire these two people more! I loved their attitudes. They never let the past dictate their future.
There were many memorable moments (flashbacks) that made me feel so overwhelmed with emotions.
There will always be a special place in my heart for Harper and Rogan.
I absolutely loved this book!
Meghan Quinn has soared right to the top of my list of favorite authors. Her writing is just superb. Her characters are incredible and their relationships go right to the heart. Then there is her ability to feed you little tidbits about something in the story and then pull you along until the timing is perfect to give you the rest of the pieces.
Harper and Rogan are two characters that I won’t forget as soon as I put the book down. Their initial love was so strong and so perfect and till the event that destroyed them. Their coming back together was grueling, highly emotional and incredible.
I love Rogan’s family. The crud the brother’s give each other is so real (I have three sons, so I know). They are rude, crude and funny, but they would do anything for each other. They are family.
I love this series!
Whew! Rogan & Harper have this amazing second chance & it takes a little bit, but they do take it. I enjoyed the overall story – LOVE he mystery element & how that all turns out. Love what we discover about both Rogan & Harper & how they never lose their love for one another. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan of the flashbacks. Or, rather, I wasn’t a fan of the pacing between those & the present-day story. I adored getting to know them as teens & see how their relationship progressed (and the mystery!), but it made their present-day second chance feel much too drawn out to me. I didn’t feel like they got enough time together on the page once they got their crap together present day!
Still, as always the story told & writing were superb, and the banter / text messages sprinkled throughout the story are HILARIOUS & quite fun! I love the way the brothers (and Jen) interact. Heh. So, an overall thumbs up. And looking forward to the next brother to get his HEA. ; )
In one word for the next one in Meghan Quinn’s Getting Lucky series is HOT DANG. I loved that Meghan showed us how Rogan and Harper’s love started from teenage crush to all consuming love that is still sizzling right now. Have to say Meghan really brought Port Snow to life with their story and LoveMark brilliant by her. Seeing their memories was not only sweet but magical in a way that only Meghan Quinn can create getting right to your heart. Cannot wait to see what she does with the other brothers in the series.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Heartbreaking, angsty and deeply romantic with a touch of humor, That Forever Girl is the ultimate second chance romance. Mixing flashbacks that show the sweet roots of Rogan and Harper’s relationship with the stark present of where they are now, this book pulls on all your heartstrings and lays out their relationship from start to finish to future. It’s heavier and more serious than Meghan Quinn’s usual style, but so gripping and immersive. I loved that the angst of the present was mixed with the lightness of the past, and of course anyone who read the first book in the series knows that Rogan’s brothers add plenty of humor.
The story follows Harper as she moves back home, forcing her to come face to face with her high school sweetheart and love her life 7 years after he shattered her heart. Rogan and Harper were the perfect couple, best friends turned lovers who became engaged in college only for things to fall apart after Rogan suffered a devastating injury. In his darkest hour, he pushed Harper away and time has only made it clearer what a huge mistake Rogan made. He knows he acted horribly and stands no chance of a future with Harper, but Rogan can’t help the fact that he will love her til the day he dies. As they begin spending more time together, those old feelings are brought to the surface and their tension-filled interactions lead Harper and Rogan to wonder if they could ever get back what they once had.
It’s a complex relationship and the writing is so fantastic that even when things seem bleak, you can’t help rooting for these two. Harper was always Rogan’s forever girl, and though their love was broken by his darkness, that’s never changed. Rogan’s brother Brig describes it best when he says that the “boy loses girl” section of their story is a tad longer than normal – it’s not an easy road back to happily ever after. Despite that, I loved this story and how well Meghan Quinn built their relationship. The reader definitely gets a true sense of their history together, and the steps Rogan has made to ensure he’s the man Harper deserves in the future. I was ecstatic to receive an ARC from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review of this fantastic book.
We first met our brooding Hero, Rogan, in the first book in the series. We knew something in his past seemed to hover over him like a storm cloud , never really allowing him to be happy. This story is told from both Rogan’s and his heroine, Harper’s points of view, and their combined flashbacks relay the story of their teenage relationship, what happened to destroy that young love, and the heart-wrenching decisions that followed. Could each of them let go of their past hurt and pain and be willing to see the second chance in front of them? The author packs a lot of stories within this story, and in the end, she successfully brings it to fantastic conclusion. Loved this hard fought climb back!
Yet again Meghan has given us another fantastic story, I was literally hooked from the start. Rogan Knightly is so much more than he first appears. Standoffish and arrogant, he has a successful career but the past is still haunting him
Harper was and still is the love of his life. Childhood sweethearts they were destined to build a life together but things don’t go to plan when their lives take an unexpected dramatic turn and Rogan ends their relationship, returning to Port Snow alone.
Years later, Harper arrives back in town having moved from place to place and trailing her own demons. When her and Rogan lay eyes on each other, all the old feelings come roaring to the surface and you just know that this is not going to go smoothly.
The flash back scenes Meghan gives us really helps to build a picture of what happened to them that brought them to this point and actually endeared me to Rogan even more.
This is a fab second chance romance/enemy’s to lovers story. You can’t help but love everything about the Knightly brothers, the banter between them had me laughing out loud more than once. I can’t wait for the next instalment in this series.
I love everything ever written by Meghan Quinn! I always love the humor and romance and all of her characters are well developed. There hasn’t been one book I have been disappointed in
This is my first my this author and I truly enjoyed Rogan and Harper’s story. Young love destroyed in anger over a life changing loss. But theirs is a souls deep love that survives years away and all it takes is Harper returning home for their second chance romance.
It’s also the story of Iggy and his Forever Girl. This little mystery and a run down manor is where the young lovers planned their whole future. A future unrealized but dreamt of often by Rogan as all the pieces fall into place.
And the Knightley brothers are a hoot!
This series keeps getting better with each installment. I love all these characters and want to go to Maine now.
Harper and Rogan were best friends and as they grew up things started to change between them. Neither of them knew how to deal with the changes. It was young love until it wasn’t anymore. Now years later they are both back home and the chemistry is still there. It’s hard to stay away from each other when everyone is meddling. They can all see what Harper and Rogan are too stubborn to see.
Meghan Quinn is one my favorite authors and she always writes books that pull me in from page one.
5 stars for That Forever Girl by Meghan Quinn. This is book 2 in the Getting Lucky Series. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. Ok so let me start by saying this is another hit by Meghan Quinn. I can not get enough of her books. She is simply an amazing author. Ok now to the story. Rogan is closed off, successful, and has no love life because he pushed the one girl he loved away. Harper is back in Port Snow and has no desire to be in the one place where her heart was ripped out by Rogan Knightly. She vows to not let Rogan effect her in any way, However the more time they spend together the more those old feeling come to play. I loved these two and also I wish Port Snow was a real place. While I would have said Griffon was my favorite Knightly brother Rogan has become the leader , that could change with the more we get to know the rest of them. I can not wait to read more about these characters.
This was a great read by Meghan, a story about two people who loved each other too much at too young an age, the relationship ended up wrecked and you have two completely broken people as a result.
The story is told from dual POV’s and flits from past to future so that we can see just what happened in their relationship for them to end up as they are today, broken and both miserable and unable to move on in life.
Rogan and Harper grew up together in their small town, being best friends before become more. Their love for each other was enormous, but at such a young age its difficult to handle. What should have been a forever relationship ends when tragedy strikes, guilt, harsh words, bitterness and resentment break them. Seven years later and Rogan still lives in his hometown, having become a bit of a property mogul. Still bitter and resentful of his life and the loss of Harper, that is until Harper moves back into town. They try to avoid one another at all costs, but its a small town, and all their friends and the people of the town start to meddle in their business in an attempt to get them back together.
I loved the Knightly brothers, what an awesome family that is, the banter and the pushing of buttons and winding each other up was wonderful. Their group chat messages had me laughing out loud! I loved both Rogan and Harper, feeling for what they had been through, learning about their past and understanding the bitterness and resentment coming from them both, and how they both had to make changes in order to move on. A really enjoyable read, highly recommended.
