Condemned by her mother and scorned by neighbors, she nonetheless perseveres in her … perseveres in her struggle to forge a good life for her girls and herself. Behaving like no “respectable” woman would, she gets a job as a county nurse, learns to drive, and buys her very own Model T.

LaVerle Spencer’s books are among my favorites! Always heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking, never failing to touch my heart! That Camden Summer is no exception. You’ll be touched & moved!
A good story, liked some of her books better, but this is still a good read.
She is one of my favorite authors. I was happy to see a title I have not read.
The novel showcases a woman/mother ahead of her times in thinking and actions and she’d serve as a model for even the young women of today to have faith in themselves and courage and steadfastness in their endeavors.
Enjoy the author….not my favorite book of hers though
I enjoyed this book because of it’s location, Maine, and the time period, around 1918. The book was well written as so many of Lavyrle Spencer’s books are. There are many emotional points in the book. The only negative is that it ended a bit abruptly.
I liked the descriptive writing and the characters, but I thought the romantic plot was less than excellent.
I have read ever book she has written and this was just re-run. Every bit as good the second time around.

Spencer has a way with words!
What a refreshing romance. I enjoyed this novel tremendously. I loved the characters and reading about the days of old. Very entertaining!!
I got a little bit bored at one point, but the story got more interesting and turned out to be a very enjoyable book.
It was so long go I don’t remember the book. But I’ve read all of LaVyrle Spencer’s books and loved every one of them. Since I don’t remember I think it’s time to read them all again.
Spenser at her best! She is the queen of good books.
Great book, could not put down. Made you feel like you were there.
