The shroud is lifted and truths too disturbing to believe are unveiled when an explosion at the town hall traps Tj under a pile of rubble as the walls of the building rain down around her. When the dust settles Tj is left wondering if you can ever really know another person or if the armor you see is simply an illusion created to conceal the lies that are buried beneath. While Tj struggles with … struggles with the duplicity of someone she’d previously held dear, she is also forced to deal with the fact that two popular residents are dead with four others in the hospital clinging to life.
As the remaining town council members struggle to rebuild from the ashes of what was lost, Tj commits to helping Roy find the individual responsible for this horrific event while trying to juggle an important life decision.

Review:
It seems like it has been a while since I visited Tj and her family and friends, and I really enjoyed spending time with them. As is usual with this author, the characters really care about each other and their relationships are so loving and refreshing. There are a lot of changes taking place in Tj’s life, but she will get through it all with the help of her family and friends. I really like reading about Tj’s relationship between her and her sisters, Ashley and Gracie, it is so sweet.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The first chapter of the book had me reading with my jaw dropped open, I could not believe what was happening. I was pulled in right from the beginning and pulled in for a great read.
There were two mysteries in this book (which is typical for this author) and they were well plotted and moved along at a nice pace. There were enough clues to sift through and red herrings thrown in and was not easily solved.
I would recommend this book, and series, to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I am already looking forward to the next one.
I was excited to visit Paradise Lake again. TJ and her family have been among my best book friends for a while. I have missed them.
This book has an explosive start! TJ is caught between life and death when the town hall comes crashing down. Fortunately, her injuries are not as threatening as they could have been. Others were not as lucky. She and her now-boyfriend, Kyle, are both under the watchful eye of former boyfriend, Dr. Hunter. Can they all adjust to this “new normal?”
Life for TJ and family is changing as her relationships mature and her sisters are growing up.
Having time on his hands, as he recovers, Kyle is the one determined to figure out puzzling questions about this bombing -what could the motive have been? Who was the actual target? The more they dig, the more complicated things become. Old, unsolved, questions once again rise to the surface. Is there ever a case where violence and destruction can be justified?
Kathi Daley writes characters you enjoy and admire. Her small town world building endears her series to her dedicated readers. She is not afraid to take on timely topics and some more complicated issues.
I requested a copy of this book from Henery to review
This was my favorite from the series. I am hoping the series continues!!
I thought book 9 was emotional, but this book takes it to a whole new level. The opening begins with a bang, figuratively and in reality! The story line just flies! Character interaction, emotional expression, the hard to solve mystery, and the climatic buildup to the very satisfying ending are all reasons to read this book and the series as a whole!
With the rare exception, my days of buying a 6.99 book are pretty much past, so I appreciate that the publisher has placed the series in Kindle Unlimited for a time as I was able to finish the ones I hadn’t read and provide a “two thumbs up” to other readers who haven’t yet read the series. This is a very good series, the first book of which has a special place in my heart as it was my first Kathi Daley read which sent me on a course of reading every book she has written (over 100 in many other series) which has provided me with countless hours of reading enjoyment. The stories are are all well-written and engaging, full of family, friends. small town charm, and fur babies!
Kathi Daley wrote yet another fabulous episode in the Tj Jensen cozy mystery series, filled with all the elements of a cozy mystery including suspense, romance, humor, love, friends and family, and a sense of community. As always, Ms. Daley’s writing flows smoothly, and her setting and relatable characters make for an extremely enjoyable read. My favorite parts of this book were the beginning (the chess game between Tj and Zachary) and the sweet ending, which has me looking forward to the next book in this series.
Thanksgiving in Paradise earns 5/5…Explosive Entertainment!
BOOM! Two dead. Four injured. Tj only recalls a memory of playing chess with her late friend, “Am I dead?” Then…wet, debris, and pain. Kathi Daley grabbed readers right off with in the tenth book of her Tj Jensen Mystery series and didn’t let go. The mystery had secrets, revelations, and a sad realization that sometimes people are not what they seem…keeping me quickly turning the page! How could this happen? Was someone targeted? Was this just poorly executed? And why was the town council meeting called in the first place? All intriguing questions to challenge Tj and Kyle as they evaluate possible motives, interrogate possible suspects, and navigate more possible peril. Kathi Daley’s signature style immerses readers in vivid descriptions and dialogue that illustrates well the various personalities and emotions, but it’s always the characters that stand out. She has created a set of characters that often have traits and connections with which readers can identify as family, friends, and neighbors. This makes this series and this book enjoyable. Newbies just need to know a lot has transpired in the series, but this tenth book can stand by itself…KABOOM! You’ll love it!
This is the 10th book in the TJ Jensen mystery series and it doesn’t disappoint. It keeps you interested and turning the pages to see what happens next. There is an explosion at the town hall just when an emergency meeting of the town council has been called. TJ and Kyle were caught in it and two people died. So amateur sleuth TJ and her boyfriend Kyle try to help Roy figure out who set the bomb and why. The plot is very well written with lots of twists just when you think you might have it figured out. It has great characters, lots of family and friends with a just a little romance. So enjoyable. Looking forward to see what’s happening next with TJ and Kyle.
Intriguing mystery with interesting characters and plot development that keeps you turning those pages. Definitely a story that will grab you and suck you in from the very beginning. Loved the interaction between the characters and small town atmosphere and trying to figure out the mystery while also becoming involved in the characters lives.
Explosion at Town Hall Reveals Long-Held Secrets
Thanksgiving in Paradise is the tenth book in Kathi Daley’s Tj Jensen Mystery series and is an excellent read. Ms. Daley is an amazing author who captures her reader’s attention with complex mysteries, well-plotted storylines, and three-dimensional characters. There are twists and turns and a long list of potential suspects to keep the reader engaged. The characters are well developed, and the story flows along at a steady pace. While this book is part of a series, Ms. Daley provides sufficient character background so that it can be read as a standalone. Even though tragic events and murder occur in this book, there is still a lot of focus on family, friends, and community. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.
Tj Jensen is a coach and physical education teacher at Serenity High School, lives and works part-time at her family’s lakeside resort, Maggie’s Hideaway, and is raising her two half-sisters, Ashley and Gracie. When Harriet Kramer, the town clerk and the mayor’s secretary, who perished in the explosion called an emergency town council meeting is called for six o’clock on Halloween, Tj accompanies Kyle Donovan, her best friend and boyfriend, to town hall. They are a few minutes late, and as they enter the room, the building explodes, killing and injuring multiple people, including Tj and Kyle. As Kyle and newest town council member, Jeff Warren, try to get the town back on track, Tj, Kyle, Deputy Roy Fisher, and several others try to figure out if one of the six council members, the town council as a whole, or the building and its contents was the target, as well as the bomber’s identity. The investigation reveals lots of shocking secrets, which increases the number of potential suspects.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Edelweiss/Above the Treeline and voluntarily reviewed it.
