Enter a world of smoldering shifters in this scintillating anthology headlined by New York Times bestselling authors Eve Langlais and Milly Taiden with brand-new, never published novellas! Bearing His Sin Cole should have killed Anja the moment he realized she was his mate. Instead, he let her live and now they’re on the hunt, chasing the morons who think they can force her to marry another … they can force her to marry another man. Like hell. And while this shapeshifting bear might have his share of sins, he’s not going to let little things like murder and mayhem prevent him from having the woman meant to be the keeper of his heart.
Bought by the Bear
Josilyn Martinez just needed the money to help raise her nephew. That’s it. There’s no other reason she would take a job posing as a shifter’s mate so he can assure his grandmother he’s settled down. There’s no reason to stay at his place so they learn “more about each other.” And there’s definitely no good reason she should get involved with the hard, hot, and handsome shifter that’s hired her.
Xander just needs a fake mate for a week to get his grandmother off his back. But what’s a bear shifter to do when the impostor mate he hired turns out to be his actual mate? All sweet, luscious curves and a heart of gold, Xander’s not going to let his mate get away. Now all he has to do is show her that they belong together, one kiss and touch at a time…
The Alpha and I
Devon Kincaid is happy with her new life in Lowman, Idaho. Her little bar on the outskirts of the tiny, isolated town is doing well, and she’s not even interested in finding a man. But when she finds a bleeding man–a hot, hard, handsome, naked bleeding man–in the snow one night, Devon brings him home to care for him. He’s definitely not like any man she’s ever met before, but what she doesn’t realize is that he’s not just a man…
Liam Murphy isn’t simply a werewolf. He’s the Alpha. In a heated battle with a deadly bear shifter, he’s moved his pack to the Sawtooth Wilderness in order to draw danger from them. He was hoping to escape his problems–but the last thing he expects to find in the isolated Idaho wilderness was his mate. Fragile and unfamiliar with the violent supernatural world, the only way he can protect Devon is to make her what he is: a werewolf. He only hopes that in the process convincing her to enter fully into his world, that he doesn’t drive away the one woman he can’t live without.

I really enjoyed these 3 books about Supernatural/Shifters and finding their mates. All 3 of the books are quick reads because they are novellas but you get a full story in them. I loved each story and wanted more once the book ended. There is action, romance, hot bedroom scenes, strong woman and the men who want to protect them. I really look forward to reading the next books in this series.
*Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this for my honest opinion*
Bearing His Sins – Eve Langlais – 3 stars
Loved the fast paced antics of this couple as they attempt to stop the person trying to kidnap the heroine. This has a lot of banter, exemplary secondary characters and a nice little storyline. Steam factor is high but late in the story.
Bought by the Bear – Milly Taiden – 3 stars
This one has a bit of a mystery, some action and lots of steam. The dialogue was a bit stilted initially but soon evened out.
The Alpha and I – Kate Baxter – 3 stars
I enjoyed this one with its romantic thriller feel. The heroine did make a decision that made me want to roll my eyes at one point.
Overall, I liked this anthology and each of the stories within. Good for a little taste of each author’s work.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press.
Paranormal stories are my favorite type of reads, so I was more than excited to get the opportunity to read Thanks Fur Last Night. Overall, I really enjoyed 2 out of the 3 stories so my overall rating for all 3 stories is 4 stars!!!
Bearing HIs Sins by Eve Langlais (2 stars)
I think this is the perfect read for anyone who likes over the top romance shifter reads. This one will not disappoint in that regard. However, it wasn’t what I expected. The characters were likable, and I laughed quite a few times at Cole, Anja and her Babushka (grandmother) but I wanted more. I couldn’t connect with them. Everything with them was so over the top I just felt a little let down with this one. There were definitely steamy parts but I wanted more; something was missing for me.
Bought by the Bear by Milly Taiden (4.5 stars)
I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters and the storyline, and even though the story was a short read, it flowed perfectly. This was another steamy story but I enjoyed the suspense and revenge within it. This story just connected for me in a way that that first story in this set didn’t. Xander was definitely the hero, and Josilyn was a woman who deserved better that what she had. Xander gave her that, and I wanted more of their story. The ending was sweet. I would read more books from this author.
The Alpha and I by Kate Baxter. (4 stars)
This story was another hit for me. I enjoyed the story, the characters, their chemistry and the suspense within this story. It also doesn’t lack with steamy scenes. Liam and Devon was such great characters. I also loved that Devon was a strong female character. The only thing I disliked about this story was the end because I wish it was longer. I would read more books from this author.
This set is a great way for readers to experience these authors work and they may just find their next favorite author. Even though every book wasn’t a hit for me, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad at all, and overall, I was happy when I finished this set.
Three authors, Three awesome, sexy, funny stories.
I have only read one of the authors in this set so this was a treat.
Bearing His Sins by Eve Langlais
New to me author..
This is a funny but very hot story. Cole is on a mission, Death is to be done but then Anja enters his vision. Others want her but so does he. Now what?
Grandma has a lot to say about what will happen now for your futures. haha too funny. I enjoyed it.
Bought by the Bear by Milly Taiden
New to me author..
This story is a variation of emotions for me. You get Josilyn who is trying hard to support her nephew that she doesn’t want to lose, you get a best friend who helps her but doing WHAT? lol Well Xander will be letting her in on all the details… Now does she stay or run?
The Alpha and I by Kate Baxter
I have read Vampire books by this author but wow this book just blew me away.
Devon left her home and started over in a small town out in the middle of no where.
One night while driving home in the blizzard from hades she notices a man?
Liam has no clue what happened he only knows this human is his…
Absolutely fantastic set of stories…
Fab compilation of PNR!
Bearing His Sin by Eve Langlais – Witty, OTT, and fabulously funny!
Bought By The Bear by Milly Taiden – Fake mates have a way of becoming true mates! Great read – Grandma almost stole the show
The Alpha and I by Kate Baxter- I felt this was the weakest of the three but that could be because I’ve read less of this authors work so don’t have a real feel for it. Felt it would have been better as longer story so characters had more time to develop.
Overall a great collection of stories and well worth the money!
One is not like the others
The first story is a pleasant giggle fest. Quite surprising and fun. The other two not as good. Still worth the credit. Had forgotten how fun Eve Langlais is. Her story is getting all the stars.
Not a bad mix of shifter romance stories. I think the third story had the best mix of chemistry, suspense and excitement. I like a compilation of different authors. It lends a different style and mixture all wrapped into one book.
4 stars.
EVE LANGLAIS – BEARING HIS SIN
I’m not sure if I love or hate this. Totally crazy nonsense that tangents off in weird directions, really funny bit just a bit too wacky for real enjoyment.
MILLY TAIDEN – BOUGHT BY THE BEAR
Liked Josie and Xander and how the grandmother was one step ahead. Didn’t feel like we had enough time with these two.
It is as it sounds, fake pretend mate is his real mate. What makes this story is the background that is happening.
Real story is the crazy ex-husband but it wraps up too quickly with not enough explanation and left me with too many questions to make this read enjoyable.
Understood Michael the ex-husband was unstable due to childhood trauma but murdering people was really low. But what happened to him?
Surely Josie would have some recourse through the courts to claim defamation against Michael’s estate. What happened to Mrs Double D, is she dead or not? I hate non-resolutions.
Would like to read Dominick’s story, was sad about his brother Trey.
KATE BAXTER – THE ALPHA AND I
Really needed to be longer to close some open ended queries.
Whilst an enjoyable and action packed read, silly things annoyed me. They never ate any food, only drank coffee or had sex over a 30 hour period. Nobody does that especially a werewolf who needs fuel to shift.
Then the heroine Devon has to do the obligatory TSTL act. Really, who goes off knowing there is someone out there quite happy to kill them to hurt Liam.
What happened to Christoph? Had he killed the person that was found?
BEARING HIS SINS by Eve Langlais… 4.5 stars
Cole is a hired assassin, bear shifter and is hiding in a tree to kill a man. He is startled out of the tree by a woman. His bear knows immediately that she’s his mate. Anja is from Russian descent and about to shoot Cole. They go back to her farmhouse where she lives with her grandmother, who is a crackerjack. Cole and Anja go to Russia to put a stop to the man who keeps trying to kidnap her and marry her. Her grandfather meets them at the airport and drops a couple of surprises on her. When she’s kidnapped, Cole will do anything to get his mate back. Funny with a crazy grandmother and a wild, sexy killer. One phrase kept getting repeated over and over which was a little annoying. But all in all it was a good story. Steamy sex scenes. —————
BOUGHT BY THE BEAR by Milly Taiden… 5 stars Josie is divorced, raising her dead sister’s son. She is barely making it when her friend gets her a job as a pretend mate to a bear. Xander is rich and a bear shifter. His grandmother wants him mated and settled down so he goes to a match making agency. The moment he sees Josie, he and his bear is his mate. Someone is after her and Xander will protect her with everything in him. Smoking hot scenes, a crazy ex, and a mischievous grandmother and friends. I love Milly’s stories and this is one of the best. —————
THE ALPHA AND I by Kate Baxter.. 5 stars Devon left an abusive relationship and moved to the woods, runs a bar, and lives in a little cabin with her dog. While driving home on a snowy night, something rushes out in front of her and causes her to lose control of the car. Once she gets it back in control, she gets out and looks around. She finds a naked man with blood on him. She takes him to her cabin and waits for him to awake. Liam is a werewolf and Alpha of his small pack. They moved from their home because a bear shifter was trying to kill him. He doesn’t remember everything that happened because his wolf is keeping it from him. One smell of Devon and he knows she’s his mate. Convincing her is going to be difficult. Once she sees him turn, she is shocked and amazed. When Liam realizes the bear will come to her cabin, they start out for his pack in a snow storm. The bear attacks him and he gets away. But Liam knows the only way to keep Devon safe, is to turn her. Can he convince her to make the change and live her life with him? First time reading this author and I really enjoyed it. Sex, shifters, and romance. An alpha male and a strong woman who are perfect for each other. ————— * Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I haven’t bought this one yet, but I will, probably in paperback.
The cover is great and what attracted me to the book first, but then I saw who the authors were and had to read it!
I loved this book! All 3 stories were excellent and action packed.
Bearing His Sin by Eve Langlais picked up after Alpha’s Mate with the guy in the tree. Anja and her grandma are full of spunk and attitude which makes some things very humorous. Secrets are coming out that don’t make Anja to happy, and Cole stays by her side through it all with his own snarky humor about killing her. Great story with an HEA!
Bought by the Bear by Milly Taiden is a great story where Josilyn is having a hard time making ends meet, so her bestie gets her setup up to be mate for hire for a week when her nephew is away with grandma. She needs the money, so she does it reluctantly. Trouble ensues when she is attacked. Full of mystery and treachery that her and Xander must figure out together. Great action packed story that made me happy with Josilyn getting her happy ending with her nephew and her mate!
Alpha and I by Kate Baxter is full of excitement and trouble in the snow with shifters. Devon saves a naked man in the snow, but trust doesn’t come easy. This was an exciting read, and the difference between werewolves and shifters in this story was unique at least to me it was.
Overall 3 fabulous stories from 3 fantastic authors that I love reading! I can’t wait to read more from all of them!
I highly recommend to any shifter fan who wants 3 fabulous stories with romance and HEAs!
Bearing His Sin,
By Eve Langlais.
Bear shifter, Cole is an assassin for hire. He was hired for a hit, but then it was canceled. His curiosity will be his downfall.
Anja lives with her feisty grandmother on a farm in the middle of land owned by a crime boss. They are determined not to sell. Unfortunately for them, that crime boss is not their only problem.
This story is hilarious, our characters dark humour and less than gentle ways had me giggling all the way through. There is plenty of danger and sex to spice it up and a great twist.
Great fun.

Bought By The Bear,
By Milly Taiden.
Josilyn Martinez is bearly making ends meet. Her ex husband destroyed her career and took everything from her. Then with the death of her sister and her husband, Josilyn is caring for their son. Scrubbing toilets is not what she is used to but to provide for herself and her nephew she will do anything. A friend offers her a job that could help.
Bear shifter, Xander Ursi is being pressured by his Grandmother to find a mate and settle down. He thinks hiring a pretend mate for her visit will get him off the hook.
There is someone trying to scare our heroine, and doing a good job of it.
This is a lot of fun, and has great characters. It looks like it’s the start of a series. If it is I will definitely be reading it.
I loved it.

The Alpha and I.
By Kate Baxter.
Devon Kincaid is driving home from her bar in a blizzard when something seems to fly across the highway in front of her. Her life is about to get much more complicated and dangerous.
Alpha werewolf Liam Murphy is out in the middle of nowhere, cut off from his pack with no idea what happened. He does however know what he has found.
This book is also very funny when our characters aren’t fighting for their lives. The enemy is huge and has vengeance on his mind. A very exciting read .
I just love puns! When authors give their books puny titles, not only does it make me smile but I have to read it too.
Bearing His Sin by Eve Langlais
It seems author Eve Langlais loves her puns. Her books have a way of making me laugh and turn the heat up at the same time. She keeps me wanting more in all her books, this one was not a disappointment. Bearing His Sin was very entertaining, with silly dialog that made me laugh out loud and of course I had to read it again to y husband; he really thinks I’m crazy at times. Cole and Anja are the perfect couple, as entertaining as they are I think Anja’s babushka had me shooting my coffee out my nose. If you like PNR with a silly spin to it than this is a book you will enjoy, I know I did! I give this story 4.5 star.
Bought by the Bear by Milly Taiden
This is such a cute story. I liked Josie and her nephew Nick’s love for each other. I also liked the accidental lover/found my mate story line, very cute. Our hero Xander isn’t your typical rich man; he’s more like a man-child with lots of money. This is the reason he hires Josie to be his fake mate. I thought for the length of the story the characters were well developed. This story does have some action and mystery which made it hard to put down. A very enjoyable read! I give this story 3.5 star.
The Alpha and I by Kate Baxter
This is a well written story though I wished this one was a bit longer. I felt some of the story was missing and was too rushed. I’m sure I’m not the only reader out there that was like “Where did the dog go?” I’m sure it’s just me. But you can only fit so much in with a novella. I give this story 3 stars.
Out of the three stories’ I do have to say Eve Langlais had me from the start. Her story just made me laugh and was very entertaining throughout the entire story from beginning to end.
***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!

Trilogy of Shapeshifter Novellas
Looking for a fun anthology with furry fellows that find their mates? Look no further 😉
BEARING HIS SIN by Eve Langlais
Fun read of Greek bear assassin Cole literally falling at the feet of Anja, his fated mate. There are werewolves, a bear hero, the Russian tiger mafia, a wannabe husband trying to kidnap Anja and more but what really grabbed me was the style of writing that made me smile. Anja is no delicate maiden needing a savior and Cole is a man who is rather blunt but endearingly so. This was a bit over the top but in such a delightful way that I couldn’t stop reading once I began.
BOUGHT BY THE BEAR by Milly Taiden
Josilyn is in a tight financial situation as she takes care of the nephew in her charge. Her friend provides an opportunity to be pretend mat to Xander and she grabs it – she needs the money. Xander realizes at first sniff she is his mate but how to let her know without scaring her away? This story has someone out to do Josilyn in, Xander doing his best to keep her safe, a mother-in-law and ex-husband from H*ll and a HEA for all…I felt this might be part of a series and that I was missing something at times but all in all it was a fun read.
THE ALPHA AND I by Kate Baxter
Revenge wanted by a bear shifter puts Liam Murphy near death just off the road as Devon Kincaid drives by. Managing to get him home in one piece he wakes to realize his alpha wolf half has determined Devon is the mate they have been waiting centuries for. Keeping Devon safe, defeating the revenge seeker and introducing Liam’s pack are part and parcel of this story that made me want to read more in the series…if there is one. With humor and spice and a bit of nice this was another read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press-Griffin for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4.5 Stars
Sooo……I thought this might be a fun set of short shifter-themed stories. Yes, they were short but fun? While I enjoyed The Alpha and I the most (because the female main character didn’t come off as totally ditsy) the other two stories were not as enjoyable. Predictable plot lines and slapstick kind of humor that just wasn’t that funny…
Well if you Love Shifter stories like I do you will be very pleased with these. Bearing His Sins Cole is supposed to kill his assignment but when he is discovered by a woman who is his perfect mate he finds he can’t kill his assignment because he is too busy trying to save her. Bought by the Bear. Josie needs money to raise her nephew and stop his grandmother from taking him she poses as a mare to a Shifter but when her fake mate turns out to be a real one they have lots of trouble. The Alpha and I Devon is driving home when she finds a naked man on the side of the road, so when she takes him home she figures she must be crazy. When Liam comes to he can’t believe he is alive and in his mates house now he just has to convince her that they belong together and save her life.

Thanks Fur Last Night is a fantabulous collection of stories by marvelous authors that each have a gift for using well written worlds to build wonderful and intriguing worlds full of captivating and commanding characters.
