A sexy new friends-to-lovers standalone!Let me list the reasons why dating the sexy, charming pro hockey star is a bad idea:1. He’s one of my closest friends2. All our friends are friends3. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his. We’re both devoutly single — it’s just safer for the heart that way. But there’s no reason not to bid on the gorgeous, clever athlete at the … the gorgeous, clever athlete at the charity auction this weekend. If I win, it’ll be a “friendsdate.”
And I do win.
I win him big.
And hard.
And all night long.
The trouble is . . . what happens in the morning?
Thanks For Last Night is a standalone romance in The Guy Who Got Away series. The other titles are Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend and The What If Guy.

I adored the first book in this series, Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend, and either didn’t realize book 2 was out or was too busy when it came out, so I joined back in with this third, and I think final book in the series. There was also a book I thought was the second, A Guy Walks Into My Bar, and while those characters are in the group of friends for this one, I guess there was a whole other book I missed.
This book was okay. It had the steaminess and the wittiness of the group of friends that I enjoy. And I liked how the relationship went, even if they fought it for longer than they probably should have. The one thing I feel this book needed some more of, that I can’t believe I’m going to say this, it needed a bit more drama to it. I just kept waiting for the other shoe to fall at the end of the story, one last thing the couple would have to overcome or something. And it wasn’t there. So, really, I feel that it was quite realistic. But maybe I needed a bit more angst? Just a teensy tiny bit?
However in lieu of that extra angst at the end, we got some great epilogues for all of the characters in the other stories, as well as a little side story for one of Ransom’s sisters.
Thanks for Last Night is the third book in The Guys Who Got Away series, this is a friends-to-lovers second romance full of swoon worth moments to keep you wanting for more.
In the story we get to meet Teagan King, a social media strategist who is happy to be single despite seeing all of her friends get married. She isn’t looking to be in a relationship, especially after getting her heart broken while she was already going through a very difficult time. But doesn’t mean that she is immune to men and she is definitely attracted to one of her closest friends, Ranson North. They’ve always had a chemistry that neither can deny, but being friends make things complicated for them to pursue anything further. That is until she bids on him at a charity event, the prize, a date with the hot pro hockey player. It was just supposed to be one date, until they both give in. Now she has to decide if crossing the friendship line is worth it or not.
Ransom North has been hurt in the past, and he has vow to not get involved in a serious relationship. Yet, no matter how much he wants to stay friends with Teagan, he can’t help to be attracted to her. They have such a great friendship already and ruining that will not only ruin them but also put them in an awkward position with their mutual friends as well. But the more time they spend together, the more he is willing to put everything behind to be with her.
Told in dual POV, Thanks for Last Night was such a good read. I loved the characters right away Blakely did a great job giving us so much banter, swoon worthy scenes and so much steam. I was hooked from very beginning and it was great seeing the characters go through ups and downs to get their happily-ever-after. All in all, I loved the story as a whole and the ending was sweet. There is not a whole lot of conflict going on making it an easy and quick read. I’m not sure how I feel about the last few chapters of the story, it was too focused on previous characters and their stories, that I wish the author could have focused more on Teagan and Ransom instead. I still enjoyed the story and would high recommend checking it out as well as any other books by the author. You will not be disappointed it. 🙂

4 stars!!
Thanks for last Night is a fun, fresh, friends-to-lovers romance that put a smile on my face. The romance is sweet, the friendships are gold, and the characters are ones I couldn’t help but root for!
Ransom and Teagan are good friends, and all of their mutual friends try to push them together since they are the only ones not in relationships. They don’t want to mess up the awesome friendship they have with each other or the friendships they share. If they went for it and things were to go south, they wouldn’t want to tear the group in half. Plus, they also have their own pasts to work through and neither are looking for forever, or so they think.
Ransom and Teagan are great together. The attraction is clear, and the witty banter and fun they have together make their relationship an easy one to enjoy. At the root of it all is a solid friendship. I felt their connection and I understood every emotion they feel. The fear of ruining what they all have was real as was their inability to keep their hands off of each other. They were a spark waiting to combust and I loved watching it all happen. I thought it was believable and loved their well-paced progression from friends to lovers.
“I know you don’t want to get on the merry-go-round of love again. I respect that.” He meets my gaze, leveling an intensely honest stare at me, something he’s been doing a lot of today. “But I wonder if maybe you already have one foot on that carousel?”
…
“Yeah…I’m pretty sure I’m already on the carousel and getting dizzy.”
I love that Ransom and Teagan are mature and there is no drama between them. They leave out the angst making this a light, sexy read to get lost in. Though it can totally standalone, I recommend reading the other books in the series because we get more of all the characters as well as some fantastic epilogues to swoon over. Overall, it’s another rom com hit in The Guys Who Got Away series, and I really enjoyed it!!

Loved this story!!!! Ransom and Teagan are just friends, right? When their friendship circle plays matchmaker, it does not take long for things to heat up between these two. Loved the banter and the fun that these two have. Highly recommend!!
This book was great. It was equal parts light and fun with some sassy banter and romance sexiness. You get both Ransom and Teagen’s point of view and I must say I love Ransom’s more especially in those epilogues. Why? He was more down to earth and willing to see his feelings and admit to them more readily. He didn’t shy away from his feelings but respected what Teagen needed and stepped back until the time was right to act on them. they built their friendship first and created a great solid foundation before acting on their feelings.
The story was fun and sweet. These are two people afraid of love and falling in love due to their pasts. One was hurt by the one he thought was his forever and the other lost so much that losing friends because of what could happen if things didn’t go right was such a fear she didn’t want to open herself up to the possibility.
Ransom was a great guy and his love for his sisters was heartwarming. Him and Teagen were two peas in a pod. Both fun loving and adventurous. Both loyal and kind. So when he has his auction for charity, he decides to take this as the opportunity to begin to act on his feelings and get Teagen to go beyond friendship as well. The competitive side of Teagen can’t resist and thus begins the what is a really fun romance. They are friends but go to friends with bennies. This gets the feelings a churning but Teagen is afraid and Ransom is giving her her space. As things progress we see these two lean on each other and be there for one another. We watch ransom let go of his past heartache and face the future. Teagen begins to see she wants more as well.
I love this story and how fun it is written. I love that there really isn’t angst and that we have a friends to more story that is fun and has you smile throughout. How you fall in love with both characters-Teagen because she is just kind, loving and fun at heart and Ransom because he is the same. They fit together and their story has you feel all warm and happy as you read and smile as they find their way to love.
This was a super cute story about Ransom and Teagan, both characters we met in previous books. We got to catch up with old friends while while enjoying the fun banter and a great love story.
I enjoyed Ransom and Teagan’s fast paced friends to lovers romance. All their friends are convinced they would be a great match and they aren’t wrong! It was a happy and fun read and the kind of Lauren Blakely read sure to put a smile on your face!

Lauren Blakely does it again with the third book in The Guys That Got Away Series. I did not get to read the first two before this one but I will probably go back and read them since I enjoyed this one. Between the plot and the characters I loved everything about this story.
Want is written on his face, evident in his expression as Ransom cups my cheeks and whispers “Would you like a thousand-dollar kiss?”
Do I ever. “Yes.”
It is impossible to not root for Ranson and Teagan to be together. You could feel the chemistry between them from the first moment we met them. The back and forth banter was pure comedy and helped make this book that much more enjoyable. You could tell just by watching them interact as friends that they were perfect for each other.
“I’ve only fantasized about getting you naked then thousand times. Give a girl a show, please. Take your clothes off nice and slow and sexy.”
They both had heartbreak in their past relationships which changed how they saw their future going forward. They tried to fight their attraction but realized in the end they were truly meant for each other. I understand past relationships and heartbreak tainted your desire to fall in love again but it seems rather crazy to think they were going to completely give up on love. Obviously they both needed to find the right person to make them realize what they really wanted.
She tastes like months of pent-up desire, all sexy and snug in a violet dress with a fiery mouth and a helluva mind.
Ms. Blakely did a great job of keeping the reader entertained from start to finish. While I prefer drama and suspense this was a nice change from what I normally read. This book was fun, entertaining and a sweet love story between two people who thought they would never fall in love again. Great read!
I was lucky to get an ALC of Thanks for Last Night. This is the third book in The Guys Who Got Away series. If you haven’t read the other two, I highly recommend them! From the very beginning you can just feel the amazing potential of Ransom and Teagan together. They are such a fun couple to witness the evolution from friends to lovers. As they tap dance around that line and attempt to deny their magnetic attraction we get to experience the witty dialogue, fierce banter, and highly competitive natures that lead to some truly entertaining situations that are rom-com gold!
Throughout this story you get new insights into characters you already know and love from the other books in the series, especially the epilogues. I really enjoyed the epilogues! Chapter 24 made me cry because it connected with me on such a personal level. No spoilers, but I seriously felt seen and understood in that chapter and had to take a break and say thank you to Lauren.
One of my favorite things about Lauren’s characters is that they don’t tend to be drama queens. They are real people who make mistakes and own them and learn from them, and I LOVE that!! Her books are very sex positive with characters who own their sexuality and love to learn and experiment and be honest about it – and own it. Lauren has won my one-click loyalty with these character attributes (and her choice of narrators).
I’m very narrator motivated and Lauren is an audiobook genius who works with extremely talented narrators, engineers, editors, and PR people to make the most out of each and every book. Thanks for Last Night is no exception. Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt work flawlessly together to deliver top-notch narration with varied voices and emotional performances that will make you laugh, swoon, and – yes – probably bite your lip and get lost in the HOT AF moments. Brian Pallino, Stella Hunter and Joe Arden also deliver great performances and are the icing on the cake that is the awesome of a Lauren Blakely audiobook!
This whole series is a rom-com masterpiece! There’s not one book here that is just ok, they are ALL a AMAZING! But “Thanks For Last Night” will reign on top for me, first because the story is so damn good and two because the last couple chapters of the book (8 or more) it seems like a never ending epilogue and I was SO here for it. Lauren brilliantly close the story from all the couples of the previously books and it was amazing! Gah… I love big, huge, epilogues!
Ransom and Teagan are the perfect pair, they both are competitive, with huge hearts, have the same banter, gorgeous and they love a challenge more than anything. All of their best friends are pair up and now they want them to be together too, living their best lives!
But Teagan lost all of her blood family tragically and my heart broke for her. So she consider her friends, her family also. So dating Ransom could ruin everything and she can’t lost anyone anymore. God, she is so strong and funny, single she hides her pain with humor.
At the other side, there’s Ransom. He was in love with his best friend and they were together for a long time, until he decided to propose and she said that she was in love with someone else. So now he is against love for himself, not his friends.
When they decide to take a leap of faith, mannnnnn their chemistry was off charts and they were so good together, they support one another and understand their physical and emotional needs like anyone else. Gah, I love them! There was no way they would be together forever!
“ ’ , , ”.
We also have a short story at the end telling Ransom’s sister, Tempest, story and figures, it is awesome too! This book is my favorite from the series and now I want the whole series in paperback. Must must must read book AND series!
Book 3 in The Guys Who Got Away series and can be read as a standalone. Loved this fun friends to lovers romance. Ransom and Teagan were so much fun. The chemistry between them was so good. It was so intense and pulled me into their story and had me rooting for them every step of the way. Loved them together and so happy that they were able to work through their past relationships to see that not every one is like that. True love exists and it can be right in front of you but only if you look. Highly recommend this story.
Thanks for Last Night is the third book in The Guys Who Got Away Series. But did they get away? This is a friends to lovers romance. This is Ransom and Teagan’s story. Now this is a romance story. Just saying….. Both Ransom and Teagan are confirmed singles. Meaning their pasts are keeping them single.
Ransom and Teagan are just friends but their friends see something in them and think they should be romantically involved. They convince Ransom but Teagan is too worried that it will destroy their friendship so it takes a little convincing but not before their one night together. Ransom asks Teagan for a favor and that sets up their night together.
I loved reading this fun and sexy book. Lauren Blakely knows just how to put fun and sexy into her books! I know it is hard for me to wait until her next book because I know that I will fall in love with my next book boyfriend!
I devoured this one within hours! Ransom and Teagan are the only single ones left in their group. Their friends keep on setting hem up together, but the two of them have reservations. They didn’t want to ruin what their group have by getting into a relationship with an unknown ending. If things don’t work out, they lose their friendship.
I was fully invested in their story. It doesn’t dragged on. I envy and admire their friendship and when they started getting to know each other on another level, it’s even better! And the fact that this is funny and filled with witty banter help too! An amazing read!
It’s moments like this I really wish I had read all the other books in this series first. Not because it was needed to enjoy this story, but because I felt like I was missing out on so much awesomeness.
Ransom and Teagan were the last hold outs in their group of recently shacked up friends. Both had reasons they didn’t want to be in a relationship. But the most pressing one was that they didn’t want to make any waves in their group if things didn’t work out.
I really liked all of the characters in this book. The secondary were as front and center as Ransom and Teagan. And the events celebrating their friends relationships were so sweet, I just wish I had the full background on each of them.
Having epilogues for all of the characters was awesome and I enjoyed seeing them all in the future.
Lauren Blakely has once again delivered a fun, charming and swoony friends to lovers romance that will give you all the hearts in your eyes. I adored this couple. Ransom and Teagan are just so compatible. I absolutely loved their flirty competitive back and forth banter and their undeniable chemistry. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times – Lauren Blakely is the queen of the flirty banter. I. Cannot. Get. Enough!
The friendship between Ransom and Teagan was just so natural. They truly understood each other. Both burned by previous relationships, they were perfectly happy being single. While all their friends were coupled up, they were determined not to go down that road again; even as they were constantly pushed together. However, their connection and their attraction was just too strong. Ransom met his match with Teagan.
While I did enjoy this book, I did think Thanks for Last Night read a little too fast for me. The entire transition from friends to lovers and the courting took place in a matter of a couple weeks. I don’t feel this story was as developed as other Lauren Blakely books. The last few chapters were not even about Teagan and Ransom. Of course I love revisiting some old characters and seeing my favorites get their happily ever after. I just wish this book was more Ransom Teagan focused.
All I all, Thanks for Last Night is a flirty, sexy good time. Get ready to fall in love with the charismatic swoon-worthy hockey player and the strong, witty woman with the big heart.
Witty, fun, and ultimately a great story about two good friends realizing they are destined to be so much more.
Ransom and Teagan are a great match, but they’ve both been burned by their own experiences with making the transition from friends to lovers in the past. They’ve both had experiences where they lost their love, their best friend, and other friends in the process. So they spend a long time developing an amazing friendship, and a really deep, connected knowledge of each other, and they’re content to keep each other in the friend-zone… until they aren’t.
I loved the emotional journey that both of our leads took in this read. We got to read/hear them open up to each other in ways that they hadn’t opened up with their other friends, so we knew that their love was meant to last.
I enjoyed this so much that I read it one day, and listened to the audio the next. Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber did a great job capturing the spirit of Teagan and Ransom, and gave really emotional and heartfelt performances. The “extra” roles played by Brian Pallino and Stella Hunter, and a chapter from Joe Arden, really added to the feeling of the friendships and relationships outside of just Teagan and Ransom.
A+ Read, A+ Listen.
This was simply a feel-good, no drama all around great book.
Im going to be short and sweet – of Ransom was a real life character I would leave my hubby and track him down and cuff myself to him. That’s how much I enjoyed him in this story. Don’t get me wrong Teagan was a great female character with her smart mouth, funny bone and a huge heart but he stole the show for me.
Of you never read Lauren Blakley this is the way to start. I guarantee you’ll find yourself madly in love with her words.

Another amazing book to the series, this is Ransom and Teagan’s story a friends to lovers romance that will have you smiling through it all, I definitely loved their flirt and how their relationship comes to be. There is also the audiobook, which for all Lauren Blakely’s books I recommend to get those instead, they are so much fun and you will love the narrators. This can be read as a stand-alone but I will always recommend reading all the books in the series. Fantastic book to cheer anyone up.
I am always excited to read a new Lauren Blakely book! Thanks For Last Night was EVERYTHING you love about LB books! Ransom and Teagan’s was amazing! FIVE STARS!!
