There’s a couple of things I know for sure. For example, I know that if my house were on fire, I’d be grabbing my Kindle on the way out. Another thing I’m certain of is that when I need a sweet and sexy romance to make me feel good, I can count on Lauren Blakely to provide it.
Thanks For Last Night, Blakely’s new standalone romance within The Guys Who Got Away series, features a positively enchanting friends-to-lovers romance. Pro-hockey player, Ransom, and his gal pal, Teagan, both have their own relationship baggage, but their friendship is solid. Aside from sharing a close-knit group of paired-up friends and being the last two singles of their group, Ransom and Teagan also share an easy, effortless friendship. Inside jokes and common interests aside, they genuinely enjoy each other’s company, and they have natural connection that often shows itself in their witty back-and-forth bantering. So, when Ransom needs a favor, he calls on Teagan, and in doing so, the long-buried lust between them bubbles to the surface.
The chemistry between this couple was absolutely electric. The pent up need and desire they both harbored for each other was undeniable, and Blakely managed to completely steal my breath with the way she communicated those feelings. Both Teagan and Ransom have some relationship baggage that makes risking the friendship they share—as well as the friendship of the others in group—a scary prospect for both of them. But that genie is out of the bottle, and with all their friends pushing them together, the impossible starts to feel a lot more like the inevitable.
Friends-to-lovers is one of my top favorite tropes, and I always seem to connect to these types of stories, probably because I’m living my own friends-to-lovers happily ever after. Blakely never disappoints with this type of story, and she delivered a wonderful, full-circle kind of romance in Thanks For Last Night. It was light-hearted, romantic and rich in the kind of heart-tugging emotion that doesn’t tip the scales into angsty. A sizzling attraction couples with a firm foundation of friendship and an effortless connection into an unputdownable story that kept me glued to my Kindle. I loved every single word, step and minute of this story. Lauren Blakely’s Thanks For Last Night gets five smooches from me!

Friends to lovers tropes have always been one of my favorites, but when you can combine it with hockey you have me hooked at page one.
There is nothing I love more than a super sexy hockey player, and Ransom North is my new favorite (right alongside Fitz, of course)! Ransom is the ultimate good guy who just happens to clobber guys on the ice to show off his sexy masculinity. He has the best heart, and so much love to give if he’d only get out of his own way. He’s charming, funny, and absolutely irresistible.
Teagan is amazing. I adored her from the beginning. She has this bright, bubbly, giving personality that is easy to fall in love with. She’s intelligent, quirky, and her charitable heart matches Ransom’s beat for beat.
These two are perfect together. Their banter is fun, their encounters are steamy, and their story is heartwarming. Ransom and Teagan will steal your heart with their story and make you swoon a little in the process. This is a classic LB book that I highly recommend!
Let me list the reasons why dating a sexy, charming, pro hockey star is a bad idea:
1. He’s one of my closest friends
2. All our friends are friends
3. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his.
I did enjoy this book it was a sweet romance that developed between friends, the story line was short and predictable, the characters were likable, funny and sweet. For me the savior of this book was the group of talented and awesome narrators and so I am glad I had this on audiobook.
Thanks For Last Night. Something you’d say the morning after when you’re trying to do the walk of shame the following morning after a one night stand That’s exactly what Teagan said to Ransom before she high tailed it out the door.
Thanks for last night is the 3rd book from the ‘Guys Who Got Away’ series written by Lauren Blakely. It focuses on Ransom North and Teagan King who are the last 2 single friends in their friend group. Ransom plays hockey in the NFL while Teagan is a social media queen and charity philanthropist. They are both very outgoing and have that light easy banter type relationship.
When a charity event comes up Ransom asks Teagan to bid on him so that he can win a running bet he has with his baseball friends. After winning the auction they spend an intimate night together after which she says ‘Thank you for last night’.
While they both enjoy the company of one another and are attracted to each other, they are afraid to pursue it any further for fear of getting hurt as both have experienced bad break ups in the past and don’t want to mess the status quo of the friend group. But after slowly spending more time together and getting to know one another on a deeper level they both realise that they want to be together more than friends they agree to give it a try.
This book was great and I appreciated how both characters were able to banter with each other without the other taking it the wrong way. The intimate scenes were hot and the friendship between their tight knit group is inspiring.
This story also mentions characters from Lauren’s other books as the friends in the group.
* Dear Sexy Ex-boyfriend: Summer & Oliver
* The What If Guy: Logan & Bryn
* Guy Walks Into A Bar: Fitz & Dean (MM)
Thanks for Last Night by Lauren Blakely is the 3rd book in her The Guys Who Got Away series. This book was a great addition to the series and the “Lauren Blakely World” in general. Ms. Blakely always likes to tie in past characters, which is fun. Even though this is a stand alone book, those little details make it more special. Ransom and Teagan are both single, emphatically so, even among a group of friends who are all coupled up. Deep down there is more than just friendship between them, but past relationships and life has caused them to keep to themselves. When a charity auction heats things up, the dam that is holding their relationship back breaks and these two fall hard for each other.
I very much enjoyed Thanks for Last Night. Yes it’s another friends to lovers story, but somehow Ms. Blakely makes them all special and exciting and not just another run of the mill tale. The characters that she crafts pull you in and make you feel. Very much recommend.
Just like the earlier books in this series, Lauren Blakely’s “Thanks for Last Night” was funny, sweet, and heartwarming with the perfect amount of steam. I recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance, sports romance, and romantic comedy.
Main characters Teagan and Ransom were a tremendously fun couple. I loved their flirty banter and the funny, silly way they competed with each other over things like dart games or laser tag. They had a lot in common besides their competitive natures, including their interest in charity/volunteer work, so it was easy to understand why their friends kept trying to push them together. Ransom and Teagan also shared a fear of commitment due to bad breakups in their pasts, but I really appreciated that there wasn’t a whole lot of drama between them because of it. Rather than keeping everything bottled up until it exploded, they actually talked about their issues and worked on them together.
The bromance between Ransom and his friends was another highlight of the story for me. The way they teased and jokingly insulted each other was hilarious, but it was also sweet how they were so quick to offer advice or a sympathetic ear whenever it was needed. I particularly liked Ransom’s friend Martinez, the Yankees closer, and was happy that he found love with the lucky lady who won a date with him at the bachelor auction.
While this book can technically be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the series in order for the best experience (with the addition of Fitz and Dean’s story, “A Guy Walks Into My Bar,” which is technically separate). Teagan and Ransom’s story was pretty well wrapped up by about 80% (Kindle edition), and the rest of the book was something of an extended epilogue for the series as a whole. Most of the final 20% of the book was set during Bryn and and Logan’s (“The What-If Guy”) wedding.
Overall, I loved this fast-paced, funny, sweet, and heartwarming story, and can’t wait to see what Lauren Blakely brings us next!

Another light and unpretentious story of Lauren Blakely with two friends who are happy in their condition as singles and who does not even want to dream of losing the group of friends because of a dating that did not work.
Ransom and Teagan feel a strong connection not only of friendship but also of something else, maybe it’s just a physical attraction but they don’t want to find out what it is and then find themselves in the middle of a rift in their group of mutual friends .
However the whole group has already realized how they feel about each other and are very excited to join these two blockheads. Amid karaokes, wedding parties and charity balls, this pair will indulge in a delicious passion.
The couples from the previous books bring a good dynamic to the plot and fill the farewell pages of this series.
4/5 stars
Hockey player Ransom and Teagan are the only ones in their group of friends that are still single. They’ve both sworn off relationships, they’re friends that’s it, and they’re just going to carry on ignoring the chemistry between them. Sounds like a good plan right?! Neither of them are prepared to lose their friends because they can’t make things work so it’s easier to just carry on as normal. Until Ransom needs a favour and what do you know that pesky attraction they both feel suddenly gets harder to ignore.
I’ve loved every book in this series (go read them if you haven’t already) and I loved Ransom and Teagan. The banter between them, the chemistry, the whole I want more but is it worth it thing they’ve got going on…I loved it all. This is a great book with absolutely fantastic characters and I couldn’t put it down.
A fun, flirty and sexy romance that just has me smiling from ear to ear! Thanks for Last Night is the story of Ransom and Teagan who have undeniable chemistry and are truly the perfect match for each other. While neither wants to be in a relationship, when they finally take the plunge there’s no going back. This friends to lovers romance hits all the marks for me and I enjoyed it!
Teagan and Ransom make a wonderful and delicious couple. Teagan has been hurt in love before and living the life of a single woman in NY. She has an amazing set of friends and works at a job that she loves. She has it all! Ransom is an NHL hockey player loving the life in NY as well, freedom, parties, hanging with friends, and an ex that ripped out his heart. A part of the same circle of friends as Teagan Ransom is extremely attracted to her but does not want to challenge the balance of their friendship circle. Teagan feels the same way but is gun shy as well. The chance for one night together has them ripping off clothes and enjoying their time together. As they settle back into their regular routine beginning the next day, they realize that one night together is not going to be enough. Will they take the chance on love and work towards a happy future together.
Lauren Blakely has written another amazing romantic read. In Thanks For Last Night, you will also get to see what happens to Teagan and Ransom’s friends from the Guys Who Got Way Series.
This is a must-read!
This book is all the wonderful things.
It’s romantic and swoony and so sincere. It’s strong and unafraid and magic.
A beautiful ending to an awesome series!
Also, a million bonus points for the various epilogues / point of view endings. This was everything my heart needed.
5 stars and a chocolate milkshake
This is the third book in The Guys Wo Got Away Series. Thanks for Last Night is a fun, sweet, sexy, and beautiful friends to lovers. I loved to follow Ransom and Teagan in their journey to love. The supporting characters are great. I like the Epilogues, and the Extended Epilogue. The cast of narrators is amazing. Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt are perfect as Teagan and Ransom. I love the addition of the voices of Brian Pallino, Stella Hunter and Joe Arden. I enjoyed it.
An entertaining little page-turner, most definitely.
Ransom North and Teagan King are fighting the inevitable. Their chemistry is killer. All their friends see it and want them to experiment with it all night long. Still, they are hesitant. Who wants to ruin a friendship with complications like romance and sex?
Answer: deep down, these two do.
I’m a hockey fan, and I wish there were more hockey lingo and action in here. I enjoyed the trash talk; I imagine locker room and on-ice talk is served cold–no pun intended. A little chirping shouldn’t hurt two athletes; this book portrays it showing those egos can take it from friends.
I also loved the friendship dynamic between ‘King and North.’ It worked for me. I thought the ‘buds to lovers’ thing was well designed. It also suggested that they were well on the path before the reader stepped into the story.
I love Lauren Blakely’s books, but the third act was missing from this to make room for the series wrap up, which is why it is only a four-star review. It does tie it up all nice for us, but I wondered what happened to the crux of Teagan and Ransom’s story. They just never fell apart and had to resolve anything.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.
Friends to lovers romances are amongst my favorites and this latest release by Ms. Blakely is another delightful addition to the list. From a wonderfully engaging couple to crackling dialogue to a group of friends (and other secondary characters) who feel more like family, this book had me smiling from start to finish. From one unforgettable night to an up and down rollercoaster ride of should they/shouldn’t they, this story had me cheering them on every step of the way in a warm embrace of happiness.
Ransom North and Teagan King are the lone holdouts when it comes to HEA amongst their group of friends. Two previous books showed the journey those couples took to reach their HEAs and they’re now looking at Ransom and Teagan to find their own…and hopefully to find it together. Ransom and Teagan are a bit leery of making their friendship more though, despite their friends wanting to see them together, but one night after a bachelor auction changes their feelings irrevocably and has them dancing around each other in interactions full of sexual tension. From the first moment readers see them together they see a wonderful pairing, as both are outgoing, caring, fun, and flirtatious in their banter. Watching them verbally spar is its own type of foreplay and it made their scenes even more crackling. To the world Ransom’s a cocky and self-assured hockey player, one without a care in the world, but amongst his friends and family he’s a caring man full of deep emotions and beliefs but with vulnerabilities due to past matters of the heart. Once he has a taste of Teagan he’s focused on keeping her as his, happy to take a chance on the future, and I found myself charmed by all his words and deeds in getting her to see the same. Teagan’s the female version of Ransom with a personality and behaviors that were similar, but when it comes to making their friendship into something more she definitely holds back. She just wants to have fun with Ransom, she’s not looking for a forever romance with him. After all, she’s alone in the world and doesn’t want to lose their friends if a relationship with him goes bad. Fate has other plans though and the more they try to keep things casual the more potent and heartfelt their connection becomes and the harder it is to remain just friends.
From start to finish I found this an utterly delightful romance! From its sizzling banter to its endless sexual tension this story captivated me and brought me hours of joy during this time of chaos and pessimism. It’s a story that brought a bit of brightness to my day and I appreciate Ms. Blakely crafting such an entertaining read full of heart and soul. The main couple were pure perfection and I thoroughly enjoyed their journey to HEA as it felt real and was easy to relate to. Add in a supportive and devoted group of friends and you have a story that pulled me in completely, making me feel like one of the group. Though this story can be read on its own, it will make for a richer experience if the two previous installments are read first. Readers will see the connection between these two grow through each book, see these friends be there through thick and thin, and find themselves rooting for Ransom and Teagan right alongside the other couples. The conclusion of this book was also perfect as we got updates on each of the other couples in a seamless inclusion as well as epilogues from both the main characters which gives even greater insight into their feelings. By the turn of the final page I felt as if I’d been wrapped up in a loving embrace, told a fun and flirty bedtime story that will provide me with many nights of sweet dreams and it’s a story I highly recommend.
Fun, flirty, sexy, and just feel-good. Ransom and Teagan warmed my heart and I practically smiled and laughed throughout the whole story. The other characters just add to the dynamics and I couldn’t put this down.
5 Stars
The perfect friends, to lovers, to forever romance! Ransom and Teagan are hilarious from moment one. Taunting, teasing and full of sarcastic humor, their friendship is special and what anyone would strive to have. Of course this also makes it valuable for them both. We get to follow them both as they battle past pain and discover that a future full of love and happiness is much more important than “protecting” your heart. When you wind up with a person who wants to protect your heart for you, you have nothing to fear, and this couple is meant to be together forever. They are sweet, funny and oh so sexy together!

Well, once again I am blown away by Lauren Blakely’s impressive storytelling talents. I’ve been a long-time fan, and own a bunch of her audiobooks, and she has yet to peter out. In fact, I truly believe she is just reaching her stride. Her books are incredible, and her characters are as well. She seems to completely capture the essence of each character she creates, and I’m amazed at how they ALL are unique and equally lovable. I’m not blowing smoke either; I’m truly in awe of her writing skills and imagination. She is a blessing to the romance genre. Plus, she has all the great narrators giving voice to her characters and bringing each story to life. Incredible. It’s just all so incredible.
Okay…on to the current story. This is the third book in the series, and is also connected to much loved ‘A Guy Walks Into My Bar’. It can be read as a stand-alone, but all main characters, from the mentioned books, are present in this one. If knowing details about the characters you haven’t read about bothers you, then I suggest reading those first. Go right ahead if it doesn’t because it won’t affect your enjoyment reading, or listening to, this story. One event that takes place in this book is the wedding of our beloved MM couple.
I loved the banter between Ransom and Teagan. Even as friends, it is fun to witness. As a reader, I am going to have to agree with their friends. They really need to come together as a couple. They obviously get along, enjoy the same things, and have great chemistry. They both also have had bad dating experiences in their past, and have dealt with their own heartache, so they are both hesitant to ruin a good thing (their friendship) and afraid of another heartache. There are no guarantees in life, but they do believe in prevention, as they keep resisting risking the boat. Until they gave in one night. Will they be brave enough to give themselves a shot at happiness, or will they be their own worst enemy?

Ransom is a hockey player with a request for Teagan. He wants her to bid on him at an auction for charity so he doesn’t get stuck with a terrible date. He knows Teagan through friends and they get along together. Ransom is fighting his attraction to Teagan. Their friends root for them to become a couple. This is a cute, short feel good read.
Teagan and Ransom were both introduce in previous books by Lauren Blakely but Ransom is the one who really caught my interest, there was something about his friendship with Fitz that had me wanting to know more about him. Teagan and Ransom had my type of relationship, I loved the instant banter and trash talk from them. In true Lauren Blakely form, there was plenty of fun and steam with minimal drama and angst. Both characters had some issues to work through but it really didn’t throw a wrench into things. I think my favorite parts of Lauren’s books (besides the sexy times) are the epilogues. I love the glimpses into the future and the characters HEA, but this one went further and had epilogues from the POV of some side characters. On top of those epilogues we also got the bonus of finding out what really happened between Tempest and Martinez which I was curious about since the auction happened.
Holy greatness batkids!
Teagan and Ransom were a great read! So, these guys have been friends for a while and if you’re a Lauren fan, then you’ve already met them and their circle of friends. Everyone is rooting for them but they’re apprehensive … cue, a really great read! This story was sexy, fun, and fast-paced. It was perfect for these two and it fit right in with the circle of friends as well. That brings me something I haven’t said yet about this series … I think it would be best if the books in this series were read in order. The circle of friends enhance every book and build on it and although you will still enjoy the story of Teagan and Ransom getting to their happy place without reading the previous books, why would you want to? They are all ridiculously good books!
