A sexy new friends-to-lovers standalone!Let me list the reasons why dating the sexy, charming pro hockey star is a bad idea:1. He’s one of my closest friends2. All our friends are friends3. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his. We’re both devoutly single — it’s just safer for the heart that way. But there’s no reason not to bid on the gorgeous, clever athlete at the … the gorgeous, clever athlete at the charity auction this weekend. If I win, it’ll be a “friendsdate.”
And I do win.
I win him big.
And hard.
And all night long.
The trouble is . . . what happens in the morning?

Ransom and Teagan have a lot in common, and as their friends begin pairing up they are repeatedly pushed together as the last singles (and with the hearts in their eyes, their friends believe they should be together too). But just because they find each other attractive and have fun together does not mean they should hook up or start a relationship. Each of them carries their own reasons for staying away from relationships, but at the top of their reasons is how awkward it would be if they tried something and it didn’t work out.
These two have had great banter since their friends started pairing up and the tension between them is only climbing. But neither is interested in crossing that line in case things implode. That is, until Ransom needs a favor in order to win a bet with his buddies for charity. When their evening turns into a friends-date, and that date turns into all night, they have to decide how to handle the next day.
These two have a lot to work out, even once they decide to test the sparks flying between them. They are both carrying scars from previous relationships and in order for things to move beyond a few fun trysts between the sheets, they will have to face their fears about relationships. They are so good at walking the line of sexual tension that they had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would be the push to finally make them open their eyes and see what was in front of them.
This was a fast read (compared to my reading speed lately) and was just what I needed to shake myself out of what looked like a reading slump coming on. Lauren’s couples always entertain, and Teagan and Ransom can play with the best of them!

I always know that I’m in for a treat when I pick up a Lauren Blakely book. Thanks for Last Night was no exception. Ransom and Teagan are the last two singles in their group of friends so everyone thinks they should hook up. While they are both attracted to each other and love competing with each other, both Teagan and Ransom have been hurt in the past and don’t want to upset the balance of their friend group. When a night for charity becomes something more, can these two set aside their fears and give a relationship a chance?
Teagan and Ransom are both great characters. They are fun, hot, competitive and very caring people by themselves and this transitions into a great, fun-loving couple. They love their friends and have both sworn off relationships because of things that have happened in the past. Their banter was so fun and flirty and when they hit the sheets, it’s hot and sexy.
Once Teagan and Ransom started spending more time together one on one, they become more vulnerable with each other and truly got to know each other. They were supportive of each other and just wanted everyone to be happy.
This book was a fun and sexy romp that gave me the feels and left me with a smile on my face. Teagan and Ransom are a delightful couple and I want to hang out with this whole group of friends. They are so fun. I love how we saw a peek into the future for each couple at the end along with a nugget about another couple hinted at in the book. Such a delightful way to spend an afternoon.
Lauren Blakely is the Queen of feel good romance, and the majority, if not all of her recent books are standalones (I think), but they’re very much interconnected, and I’m not just talking about each series intermingling, no, she has series’ intermingling with series, and her characters are always adorable, sexy, sweet and have the best sense of humour. Pro hockey star Ransom North and number cruncher Teagan King are no exception, friends to lovers, and the only singles left standing in a group celebrating coupledom in one way or another. Pretty much set-up (very indiscreetly – not) by their mutual all loved up friends. Both Teagan and Ransom are secretly attracted to each other, but surprisingly don’t want to ruin their friendship, also, they’ve both been burned before and aren’t looking for a relationship. When push comes to shove though, they actually go with the flow and, refreshingly, there’s no lies, no denying their feelings, wants, hopes or dreams. A beautifully written, easygoing, feel good romance. Quick, easy, and enjoyable, and it was oh so good to see all the crowd again. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
The verdict is in…this book is sweet and swoony and sexy as hell! So much to love about this story. I loved Teagan and Ransom’s friendship and how their relationship evolves around that special connection. The humor in this is freaking fantastic too. From Teagan’s fake dying during laser tag, to Ransom and Adrian’s hilarious trash talking text chat, nearly every conversation with Tempest and Ransom and all of the joking between the whole group of friends. Plus the banter, Lauren ALWAYS gives good banter and it really comes through in the audiobook productions, which brings me to the narrators.
Andi and Zach were absolutely wonderful and perfectly cast as Teagan and Ransom. Andi captured the tone, attitude and personality of Teagan so well. She’s one narrator that I’m consistently impressed with as well as Zach who also gave a great performance and made me fall for Ransom even more. The side characters Tempest and Adrian played by Stella Hunter and Brian Pallino were freaking fantastic! I really enjoyed their little epilogue at the end.
Basically, if you love a good sexy, swoony, sweet and funny story, you should definitely buy this book and/or audiobook. I want you to fall in love with Teagan and Ransom as much as I did.
This was a fantastic read. I am so glad that we got more of this friend group-they are great. Thanks For Last Night was Ransom and Teagan’s story. These two have such an attraction to each other but don’t want to do anything about it because of their friend group. However with a little push these two might give in to what they both want. Ransom and Teagan were a cute couple. They got along so well and they complemented each other perfectly. I enjoyed their banter and interactions-they were fun. Their romance was sweet, steamy, and happy. It was great seeing their friendship turn to more. I also loved getting more of the friend group. They all truly care about and love each other. It was wonderful to see. And their interactions were entertaining. One of my favorite parts was the extra we got of the friends-it was nice to see them all living out their HEAs. Overall this was a great book. Lauren gives good romance and good friends.
THANKS FOR THE LAST is the third instalment in Lauren Blakely’s contemporary, adult. THE GUYS WHO GOT AWAY erotic, romance series focusing on a tight-knit group of friends. This is professional hockey player Ransom North, and philanthropist and social media promoter Teagan King’s story line. THANKS FOR LAST NIGHT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Teagan and Ransom) as well as several ‘cameo’ points of view THANKS FOR LAST NIGHT follows the friends to lovers relationship between professional hockey player Ransom North, and philanthropist and social media promoter Teagan King. As the two remaining singles in their group of friends, Ransom North and Teagan King both profess to keep their relationship strictly in the friend zone but a bachelor auction finds Ransom asking Teagan to bid for his date in an effort to come out on top. A winning bid, and one night together stirs something deep for both Teagan and Ransom, something neither one was willing to admit having loved and lost in the past. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Teagan and Ransom as both continue to deny the are looking for something more.
Throughout the story Teagan and Ransom watch as their friends fall in love, get married and consider Starting families but having been burned in the past, Ransom and Teagan struggle with a direction in their personal lives. One night together turns into something more, and with a little poking and prodding from their well-meaning friends Ransom and Teagan reconsider their lives together.
The relationship between Ransom and Teagan is a friends to lovers relationship. Ransom struggled with the betrayal of his former girlfriend, and in this he never wanted to place himself in a similar situation while Teagan lost the support of a former lover when her own life spiraled out of control. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of the over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
All of the previous couples return as secondary and supporting characters as well as Ransom’s sister Tempest, and his verbal sparring partner, professional baseball player Adrian Martinez. We are up close and personal with Logan and Bryn on the day of the nuptials, and like many of the couples, considering a future with or without children.
THANKS FOR LAST NIGHT is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of second chances of a sort for two people burned by love, never hoping to find their own happily ever afters. The premise is entertaining and energetic; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are sassy and fun.
Another great Lauren Blakely book! Ransom & Teagan are friends, and all their friends are friends too…..so it’s best not to risk those connections by acting on the crazy chemistry they have, right?? When Ransom asks for Teagan’s help to win a bid on him at a celebrity Auction, she accepts thinking they can go on a “friends date” without risking their hearts. The author has other plans for these two, and watching them fall in love makes for a great story. This is a standalone, but also the 3rd book in Blakely’s “The Guys Who Got Away” Series. So if you haven’t read the other two books, make sure to check those out too – they are awesome as well!

I completely adored this sexy swooning story of two friends to lovers who took a chance and got it 110% right. Ransom and Teagan are insanely attracted to each other and have drawn I line in the sand… one that day friends. One night when they cross that line neither of them want to cross back over.
I LOVED THIS STOY SO MUCH!

Thanks For Last Night (The Guys Who Got Away #3) is a book you need to read, it can be read as a stand-alone, although I’m sure once you read one book in this series you will want to read the rest of this great series. This is Ransom and Teagan’s story and it’s a friends to lovers that captivated from the first page to the last line, I love the characters and the plot but most importantly I love the friendship and the loyalty this group share.
Ransom needs a favour and Teagan is the perfect woman to bid on him in a charity auction to raise funds for a cause close to his heart. But what happens when they share a kiss at the end of the auction, have they crossed the line and can they still remain friends when deep down they both realise that their feelings can no longer be ignored. Friends to lovers but is it love or it is it lust ….guess you need to read the book to find that out.
This book touched me on so many levels, it’s emotional and entertaining, it’s witty and funny, it has characters I fell hard and fast for and it’s a romantic journey I’m glad I was part of because like all of Ms Blakely’s books by the end you feel part of the story and as read to the final line you feel like you are saying goodbye to friends but only until the next instalment in this great series. This will certainly be on my best reads of 2020
Ransom North is single and happy to stay that way. His friend Teagan King, who he has incredible banter with, is also single and couldn’t be happier. Their friend group however are all loved up and think these two would make the perfect pair and try their best to show them that everything will be alright if they took their friendship to another level. Ransom and Teagan are aware of the sexual tension, and it’s been building for some time, but they still don’t want to ruin their group’s dynamics so they do the next best thing and have a night of passion to get it out of their system. But when the night is as amazing as theirs, one time is not enough.
I always finish a LB book on a high and this one was no exception. I would have liked to have read more on their relationship with a bit more substance to their story but it was a great read nonetheless. I adore that we got to hear more about the previous couples and where they are at now. And there was an extra special epilogue that made my romantic heart sing. You can’t go wrong with this friends to lovers book.
Great book! Loved diving back into the world of The Guys Who Got Away. Ransom & Teagan are the best couple! Loved their banter & friends to lovers story!
A fun, steamy, friends-to-lovers romance. While both Ransom and Teagan are competitive in nature and love ribbing one another with lots of innuendos, they’ve never crossed the line that lays the foundation of their friendship. That is until one night where a bet is placed and a very steamy kiss is involved. Can they keep the lid on the desire they’ve always harbored for one another or can they sample the goods for just one night and go back to being friends the next day?
While their friends are all rooting for them and have zero issues with them dating, it’s Teagan and Ransom’s own hangups with their pasts and boundaries that cause them to hold back. Thanks For Last Night is a sweet, steamy, not filled with a ton of angst romance that slots in nicely to round out this series. I always love the comfort of reading Blakely books for those very aspects.
While most books of Blakely’s can be read as standalones I feel this book will read better if you’ve read her previous books in the series. Why? Ransom and Teagan are the last standing single people among their group of friends. It probably wouldn’t be a problem if they were dating other people, or if they weren’t so well matched together, but their group of friends who have all paired off and all previously fallen in love within the same circle. Their group of friends all consist of each prior book in this series and recent interconnecting series. While this can be read as a standalone, it will give you the warm fuzzies as all the couples keep popping in, especially near the end. All the updates are amazing and my smile only kept getting bigger as I was reading.
I know that Lauren has some of the best swooning books ever but this book by far has been the best!!! I was pulled into the story right away and the characters made it even easier to fall in love with even more. Their friendly, quirky banter, and the love they have for their friends are some of the best qualities they that will make you connect with these two characters instantly.
Ransom and Teagan have both been burned in love before and are not ready for a commitment if not ever again. With having mutual friends, their friendship has grown and they are both content on just that. Their friends on the other hand feel the two would be better off together and will try and scheme their way to helping Ransom and Teagan to realize the same. Regardless of their insanely hot chemistry they have, neither is willing to ruin the friendship they have and the possibility of making their friends choose sides if they took a chance and it didn’t work out between them. But when Ransom enlists the help from Teagan to help with a charity fundraiser, Teagan jumps at the opportunity not only because of the charity he supports but also at the date she would win with Ransom. One thing leads to another and soon they are both trying to decide whether or not they want to resist the pull they have to one another.
Blakely continues to top my one click list. From heartbreaking to humourous, her characters are a joy to get to know. Ransom and Teagan took forever, but their story proved well worth the wait. Emotions run deep. Attraction is obvious and they both have a lot to lose. Yet in life as in love, hope always finds a way. Thanks for Last Night sweet talks it’s way under your skin to take up residence in your heart.
This book is better then any chocolate milkshake!!
This is the story of Ransom and Teagan who we have met in the other books in this series and they are the last two that are still single. This story is funny and steamy all rolled into one book. We should all be saying Thank You for this Book Lauren, cause this one was worth the wait. I loved the way that Ransom and Teagan playfully bantered back and forth with each other and the dialogue between these two is hilarious. The chemistry that these two have for each other is so hot and explosive when they finally come together. So watch out! I loved Ransom’s sisters and how they poked fun at him. Got to keep that man in line. It was also great to see all the other couples from the previous stories and catch up with what is going on with them. I loved this story and if I could rate it higher then a 5 star I would do it in a heartbeat!
A fantastic friends to lovers storyline with witty banter and scorching hot chemistry. Ransom and Teagan will have you laughing out loud and swooning. Absolutely loved the supporting characters from past books and their encouraging ways and where they are now. Absolutely worth the read!
What a great story, Lauren managed to squeeze more of her characters into my heart! 5 hockey stars for this one!
Here we get Ransom, hot hockey player, not looking for a relationship, but he’s definitely attracted to Teagan. She’s not looking for anything either, but Ransom is definitely hot! When he asks her to bid on a date with him at the auction he’s taking part in, he’ll give her the money, she agrees but she will put the money up. Their attraction hits new heights that night, they stop fighting their attraction, and boy do the sparks fly! But can they remain friends after this? Or will the best thing they’ve both ever felt and experienced be their downfall…… Grab this book and find out!
Lauren wrote a great story for these two characters, you will fall in love with Ransom, and you will adore Teagan!
Thanks for Last Night brings us the story of the final two unmatched friends in The Guys Who Got Away series. The entire series is fantastic, so while this one can be read as a standalone, you should check out the others as well.
Teagan and Ransom have been friends for some time and are always around one another with their group of friends. Ransom is a star hockey player and there is a bachelor auction that he’s going to be a part of and so he asks Teagan for a favor – to bid on him! She does and she wins the “date” with him, but will she end up winning more than that?
While it’s no secret that Teagan and Ransom are attracted to one another, under their flirty, funny, witty banter are two people who have seen a lot of hurt in their lives. They’ve both sworn off relationships and the idea of getting involved makes them pause because they don’t want anything to ruin the friendship circle they have. This is their chosen family. Will they be able to take the leap they’ll need to to see if something can bloom between them?
I enjoyed these two characters immensely and the fact that we got appearances, and updates, on all of the other couples was icing on the cake. This was a fast, fun, flirty read!

Ransom and Teagan are the last unmatched couple in their large group of friends. So naturally, their friends are pushing them together. They are both fun, outgoing, caring, and competitive. Their banter is fast, flirty, and always on point. They get along well and share common interests and friends. They are both very attractive as well.
But…underneath those easy-going personalities and jokes, they both have hidden fears. Not only are they afraid of being hurt in a relationship due to their pasts, but they are also very worried about messing up their own friendship and their whole group dynamic. So they try to resist and do the safe thing…they really do try…
But that competitive spirit leads to some bets, dares, conspiring, then kisses, and a race to the bedroom. It should be easy to get it out of their systems and go on as normal, right? Sure they are both smart and logical people. They actually can communicate pretty well and understand the other more so than most.
But is taking the risk worth the potential damage to their friendship?
Ransom is a cocky and laid back hockey player. He is so funny and has this whole persona he has created and it shapes how he interacts with various people. But he also has a caring and vulnerable heart. Teagan is sassy, sweet, and smart, but has also been through a lot in her life. They both rely on their friends so much for emotional support and for their active social lives.
This is a feisty, flirty, humorous, passionate, friends-to-lovers story about trust, taking chances, and finding a way to move forward. It brings back their friends, Oliver, Summer, Logan, Bryn, Fitz, and Dean. I am not sure if I can ever get enough of my favorite men, Fitz and Dean, so their part in this one thrilled me. It actually gives us more super-swoony progression for all of these couples and even some extra epilogue goodness to tie things all the way up! This made me so happy!
