This may be the best indie SFR I’ve ever read. The world-building honestly made me a little envious as a writer! Can’t wait for BANE!
I like most of the book but a little confusing on what is going on at times. The slang in it was sometimes hard to understand. A lot of questions left for the end and some not even wrapped up with what is called a HFN ending felt more like cliffhanger.
I couldn’t put it down! This was my first time reading a book by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last! I’ve already got Bane waiting to read tomorrow, lol. I loved the depth of this story, but it was so easy to fall into, that I didn’t get how complex it was until I was deeply in the middle of it. Zver and Seph make an interesting character dynamic, and their purposes are cross right from the beginning. I kind of hate that we don’t know how Seph ended up lost in space, to begin with, and really hope that she can eventually reunite with her Earth family too. Rannick was adorable, I get the whole familial tie in vibe, and the action was steady so that really solidified my interest in the story. Therion is an amazing comic relief element in the story, and he just gives more opportunity for the humor of the story to come through. I loved this book, and I’m so glad that I stumbled onto this new to me author!
After reading the pre quell to this book I knew I had to read this one.
Diving straight into the story we meet Seph who has been abducted from earth… we don’t get an actual retelling of her rescue by fleet cadet and Teras alien, Rannik… we get what comes after…
Stationed on a centuries old spacecraft, Prykimis and taken by a absentee Thane, Rannik and Seph await rescue from Ranniks House and Thane Borac. Thane Borac has his own purpose in reducing Rannik, evenmorse so when he discovers that Seph is able to control the Prykimis.
This book was great, filled with story and humour and chemistry between the H and the h. It’s has a refreshingly unique story that is intriguing and characters that are crying out for their own books!
I’m very much looking forward to seeing how the story continues and develops.
*WARNING* contains explicit adult sexual situations and violence
Thanemonger is the top alien on his ship. Thanemonger or Zver is feared, no one wants to anger him.
Seph has no idea how she was taken from Earth, she just knows she needs to get back.
I think Zver got a bum rep, he can be kind and caring when he wants to be. Anyway, the only negative thing I have for this one is some of the words. Some of these words made we stumble a bit because I had no clue of the pronunciation. Otherwise, I think it’s a great story! I have to feel for Seph being separated from her child. The whole techno power thing that some of these aliens have is quite original. I am glad that Seph didn’t form a “clutch” , the Zver character doesn’t seem like the sharing type. If your into big, tough aliens with a soft center you like this one.
