Praise for Thanatos: “Got this for son but ended up reading it myself. And very quickly purchased all the following books in the saga.”-Miss C. ★★★★★
“Even though I’m not in the target audience (I’m over 40 and can no longer be called a young adult!) I really enjoyed this book. I loved the story and the characters are believable and engaging. I became really invested in their trials and tribulations. There’s some real emotion in here, I even found myself with tears in my eyes on a few occasions.”-Kirsty Smith ★★★★★

This book (and series) takes a fresh look at Greek mythology and how immortals might interact with mortals here on Earth. Fun!
I absolutely love this series!! I’ve read every book more than once. Start here and work your way to Charon’s Quest coming soon. This is one of my all-time favorite series in the YA mythological genre. You feel like a character in the book; experiencing their emotions, setbacks and victories. It’s truly amazing. If you pass up this book, you’ll be missing out on something truly spectacular. It’s a 5-star must read from book one on down. I highly recommend it! ~Angela
This YA paranormal romance audiobook is told from both protagonists POVs. In a coma following a car accident in which she watched her family die, Therese meets Thanatos (the god of death) and his brother Hypnos (the god of sleep) in a what she thinks is a dream. From here on in, Therese is drawn into a world of gods, goddesses, plots, war and revenge.
I enjoyed this author’s take on Greek mythology and the family dynamics of the gods of the underworld was great. Hypnos is confident, hilarious and an extrovert, while Thanatos seemed more introverted, naive and serious, and the narrator, Debbie Andreen, really portrayed their personalities well. Your heart went out to Therese when she lost her parents but other than that, I didn’t really connect with her character, but teenage girls would probably relate to her much better that I did. In typical teenage fashion Therese views things in black and white and doesn’t consider the consequences of her actions. I think if her character had been a bit older and more mature, I would have liked the story better. I did find it off putting and a bit creepy that, Thanatos, a thousand year old god of the underworld would think its ok to lust after and marry a traumatized, mortal 15 year old. If you discounted Thanatos’ true age, then the development of their relationship wasn’t bad. I enjoyed the story as a whole and would like to see where it leads in the next audiobook,
A nice and easy book to follow.
I listened to the audiobook and I felt like the narrator sounded a little too old to be the voice of the main character. The MC is 15 yrs old and she sounded much older. The narrator was okay.
While I did enjoy the story there were some wording that left me wishing that the author would have worded it differently. I also felt like the falling in love with Than was a bit quick but I know it’s a book so I overlooked that. Otherwise, I did enjoy listening to this book and reading and learning more about the Greek Gods.
Great retelling of Greek mythology. Hard to keep in mind that the protagonist is a 15yo girl though.
Not quite as good as the prequel The Gatekeeper’s Bride, and was a little disappointed as I read that one first. Perhaps had my expectations too high. This is a teen romance after all. Shares elements and has the feel of Twilight. Do recommend. I am currently reading the next book in the series.
For the love of Olympus.
