A SECOND-CHANCE ROMANTIC COMEDY! I love you, he said.Forever, he said.Turns out, he lied. When he leaves me high and dry after a cross-country move, I push him out of my life as much as I can, which is hard to do when the guy who broke your heart also happens to be the most famous dude in town. After a disastrous year, he’s aiming to rehab his reputation, and I just so happen to be aiming for a … his reputation, and I just so happen to be aiming for a promotion at the paper.
So, we strike a deal, and it’s a win-win all around.
Besides, what’s the harm in a few dates to charity galas anyway?
He’s arrogant, a total jerk. There’s no way I’ll fall for him…again.
I used to love him. Now I hate him…I think.

For me, Romantic Comedy was a genre I usually ignored and I just picked one up when I wasn’t looking for something worthy of remembering. But, Teagan Hunter and her Texting saga has shown me that that genre could be fill with so much joy and good memories!! I’m going to miss these crazy characters. Yes… this is the last one :(. It has been a superb experience and the fourth book has nothing to envy to its older brothers.
This time we get to know Shepard much better (yes, THE Shep!!) taking the apology tour after some trouble in a bar fight. That tour puts him in collision path against Denver, an old flame. They didn’t part in the best of terms, but Shep is eager to show her that he has changed. Will he be able to get rid of his cowardice or will try to hide everything until it is too late to solve his problems? Denver’s heart was broken once… can it endure another fail?
The plot is the classic second chance scenario were the players don’t get along. Well, Shep wouldn’t have any issue starting something with her, but Denver hates the guy after what he did to her in college (which was not very nice of him…). But, we are in the presence of a Texting book, so you may expect that the angst and drama are set aside and banter, weird jokes and a bit of surrealism take their place. And, we are glad. This book is a feast of wittiness that made me laugh half of the time and put a really huge smile in my face the other half. It made me feel good. Nah… it made me feel f***ing great!! Teagan’s sense of humor is an experience itself. One I would recommend until the end of my days.
But, even though the banter is a huge chunk of the book, the story is not lacking in other aspects. Yes, there is a bit of drama pending over their heads all the time. You know what I mean if you read the first book. This is the same Shep who shared with his friends a photo of Delia showing plenty of skin (nude photo, if you prefer economy of words…). The same guy we all called a jerk (keeping it nice…) and swore we would never give him the time of day. That same guy is one of the main characters of the fourth book. That should be enough drama for you. If he wants to have someting serious with Denver, he has to tell her about what he did to his brother’s girlfriend. I loved Shep’s struggle with that one. He was scared shitless about coming clean and, like a good procrastinator, he keeps pushing the deadline in order to enjoy one more day with Denver. That was weirdly sweet of him.
Shepard is the huge surprise. I started the book with a strong opinion of him and telling myself: “I don’t care how cute you are, or how sexy your grin is, or how lickable your body looks. I don’t care if you are in pain or having an epiphany. I HATE you! And nothing that you do will change the fact that you are the BAD guy“. A couple of chapters into the book I changed my tune to: “You are SO cute and funny and good mannered. And it is obviously you want to be in the right path and all the rest are just a bunch of idiots who don’t give you a sceond chance…“. Somehow, this book made me like Zach a little less by making me like Shep a lot more (I won’t give him the book boyfriend card, though. I still have some pride…). In a matter of paragraphs, the roster of heroes and villains was inverted and I couldn’t do anything to avoid it, nor I wanted to. Only a true master of their own characters can achieve something like that. With Shep’s redemption I really felt the love of Teagan towards her creations.
Other aspect of the book I really enjoyed was the getting all of them together in a wedding. It was equally sad and awesome. The later because we get to enjoy even more banter among characters that we met in the previous books (even though I won’t forgive the lack of Caleb or Robbie, but that’s just me trying to be tough and failing). It was nice to remember why I loved them. But it is also sad, because it felt like the classic ending of a long standing TV show. You know those big gatherings only mean one thing: the journey is almost over. It could also mean a musical chapter, but that would have been a bit weird for the book.
This is the end of Texting, but not the end of Teagan’s peculiar sense of humor. She has already published the first book of a new Romantic Comedy saga that it has been a fast addition to my TBR list. One I have the intention to read before the end of the year. Fingers crossed!
I am such a huge fan of audio books. I love the fact that I can be doing anything and not have to stop a good book. Teagan Hunter’s book Text Baby One More Time was so good and the narrators were perfect. I listened to this book in almost one day.
This is a second chance romance that sucks you in from the beginning. Shep and Denver meet in an unconventional way when they are still in high school. They remained friends through some of college and then lost touch. Their relationship was what every girl wants, a dotting guy.
Years later these two run into each other again the chemistry is still there. Captain and Bucky will hopefully be able to have real shot this time. I loved the characters and the witty banter. This book made me laugh and had so many swoonworthy moments. If you haven’t read this book you need to.
I recently had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook, Text Me Baby One More Time by Teagan Hunter, the fourth book in the Texting series, but can be read/listened to as a standalone. This was the first book I read/listened too in the series and I was able to enjoy it as such, but I am excited to go back and read the rest of the series now.
When the story starts, we meet Shep and Denver after they have met and endured so much together and separately. Shep is at a crossroads in his life. He realizes, rather late, what his mistakes have been and wants to be a better man. Denver is done with Shep. He left her shattered and destroyed and will never let him in again, right? Shep was not always a good guy, but throughout this story we see him grow and begin to see what his actions have caused. Denver was caring, smart and beautiful.
As we see Shep and Denver maneuver through the present, we learn about their past, how they met (I loved it) and how they went from friends to more and then to nothing. I loved seeing how Shep took pieces of their history and interweaved it into his life before having Denver back in it. Alex Kydd and Emma Wilder did an amazing job brining Shep and Denver’s story to life. This second chance romance was emotional and sweet.

Happy listening!
4.5
This book is bittersweet, knowing it’s the last one in the series I didn’t want it to end.
The romance, humor, and drama were perfectly balanced and I absolutely love these two characters.
I highly recommend this book and the whole Texting series!
Such a perfect book ending the Texting Series. Cap & Bucky are perfect together! Phenomenal book!
I really loved Allie and AJ’s story. Two kids who fell in love in high school, whose love stood the test of time, and they made it to the finish line….
Great book. I laughed. I swooned. I fanned myself.
It was great to see some of the rest of the gang from the series. Although, I would have loved to see Robbie. I call DIBS.
But seriously, Captain America and Bucky’s story was phenomenal. I had zero idea who this book would be about because I didn’t feel like anyone from the prior books was worthy of getting an awesome chick. Because let’s face it, the dudes are hot as hell, but the ladies are ballsy and deserve the very best.
I don’t like to say nice things about Teagan. And I’m super sad that 1) I’m not in the book and 2) I’m not in the acknowledgements…but I guess I can forgive her because this entire series is frickin amazing. She writes good love and angst, but she write FANTASTIC comedy. The banter between each of the ladies and their fellas throughout the series was hands down the best I’ve ever read. Like snot and tears and a little bit of pee hilarious. Anytime she brings up pizza, ranch, mint chocolate chip ice cream (green only, thankyouverymuch), and One Tree Hill, my heart gets super happy. They’re really the only reasons I read her books…
This was an amazing book and a perfect end to a great series. Cap and Bucky were the best. I loved their banter, the way their relationship was built up over time, and I just fell so hard for them. They had amazing chemistry and I was routing hard for them. One of my favorite reads in a long time.
I absolutely love this series, and this book was the perfect end to such an amazing series. The first book in the series is my favorite (I can’t help it, I LOVE Zach! And Delia! And the baby goats!) but this book is a close second favorite. The last couple surprised me, so I won’t divulge their names, but I will say that you are in for some laugh out loud scenes, and some sweet smoking sexy times. This is an author and series that you don’t want to miss. My friend told me about her books a loooong time ago and it took me over a year to read her books. Grab this book, you won’t regret it! 🙂
So each book in the series features texting in some way and TEXT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME has a unique twist on that using the texts to tell the story of what transpired between Shep and Denny in the past.
The banter is witty, funny and the sass and logic between the two is head shaking at times. The books work fine as standalone, but reading the one before this puts into context how Denny coped with what happened with Shep and made the story a little more poignant.
I enjoyed reading the book and look forward to more from this author.
I went into this book dead set that I was not going to like it because the Hero did not deserve a happy ending after all the things he did in the previous books. But … I actually did enjoy the story and I am glad I gave it a go.
I loved this whole series and this was the perfect way to end it. I recommend this book, series, and author.
h: Denver
H: Shepherd
(Dual POVs)
When they were teenagers, Shepherd and Denver’s best friends were a couple, which is how they got each other’s numbers. They text, end up liking each other and Denver moves across the country to start her college adventure with Shep. But as soon as she arrives, Shep gives her the cold shoulder. Fast forward a few years, and Shep is back in town and in need of a date to save face for a few charity galas. Denver is interested in getting a promotion at the paper she writes for so they strike up a deal.
Denver is the complete opposite of Monty and I loved it! I loved the way Denny and Shep bantered!!! The tension, the sarcasm, the playfulness! These two were a hoot! I appreciated being able to see the emotional depth both of these characters had, whereas in previous books, they didn’t seem too caring. The ending fell a little short for me. I definitely would’ve appreciated an epilogue!
Favorite quotes:
”I’ll have you know I’m a switch-hitter. I was going to give Lefty some showtime tonight. – Shep
”They make medicine for that, you know.”
“For what?”
“Your constipation. Being so fucking full of shit all the time has to start hurting after a while.” -Denver
”Oh, and by the way, I’m fairly certain she’s over there telling people your dick is only a few inches long again.”
“Goddammit.”
Hmm. Even annoying guys can be good for romcom. I like that the hero (whom for the life of me, I can’t remember any connection to any of the previous books. Until I remember what he did) is someone so flawed I almost doubted I could ever get into him as a main hero. But with the author’s more than stellar writing, he manned up, owned said faults and thrived to be a better man. I admit he was like another person with the heroine and saw his better side. I do so think text me baby one more time is the poetic ending to this wonderful series.
I think I love Shep! So when we first met Shep in the series, I was totally turned off by him. I felt like he was scum and just a horrible person. But this book gave us the opportunity to learn more about him, the real Shep. He is an amazing character and Denver is the perfect girl for him. Of all the couples in this series,I felt most connected to Shep and Denver, mostly because of how their relationship began and progressed without really meeting each other. They got to know and fall for one another based off of their personality rather than their looks. Shep did a lot of growing up since his first appearance in this series and I have to say he is by far my favorite.
Loved it!
Wow. This one actually made me shed a few tears. Like legit cried. I’ve been that girl that had embarrassing things done and I totally connected.
In book four of her Text series, Text Me Baby One More Time, Teagan Hunter brings past wrongs to the forefront for some serious comeuppances! Angst, laughs and a sexy simmer set the tone for one great read.
Shepard Clark was the reigning “villain” of this series, he just could not walk away from an encounter without wreaking havoc and literally clearing a room. In a nice twist this author sets up a scenario where Shep in his past with the Denny, the heroine, is referred to as “Cap” as in “Captain American,” implying that maybe there was more of a hero to Shep than met the eye. Denver “Denny” Andrews was the one that Shep pushed away but was in full possession of his heart. Full of sass Denny owned the pages as she strutted around with her no nonsense attitude that attempted to hide the emotional wounds she carried from Shep.
This couple brought out all their personal baggage and tossed it around for the readers to get up close and personal in their dynamic. A nice mix of hilarious text were well placed throughout this work showing off the leads text warrior skills for some charming moments. Ms. Hunter did a great job of going beyond the hurt and showing a sweetness to Shep and Denny’s feelings toward each other, despite the magnitude of past mistakes, giving insight as to why a second chance for them was worth a try. Exposing her characters flaws to their advantage in this story this writer was able to easily connect her readers with her portrayals as she managed to forgive the seemingly unforgivable.
Full of snarky wit and a jumble of feelings to sort through, Teagan Hunter concludes her Text series on a high five star note with Text Me Baby One More Time!
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.*
*While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
Shep TOTALLY redeems himself
We meet Shep in book 1 and I thought for sure he could NOT be redeemed, but holy moly Teagan Hunter made Shep my favorite out of this whole series! Shep and Denver are meant to be together. They have history and it is not good history! Shep has a lot to make up for – not only with Denver, but also Zach and Delia. The chemistry between them is off the charts. This book will grab you by the heart and throat and won’t let go! Read this series – it has everything: romance, laugh out loud moments, and characters who will stay with you long after you put it down!
I think this is my favorite book by Teagan Hunter to date!
I absolutely loved Denver and Shep’s story!
A story full of laughs and romance. It’s the perfect mix!
This is a sweet and fun read. Shep redeemed himself in his book, ’cause I freaking hate the asshole Shep to death in Zach and Delia’s book. I really do love their banters and the chance they took for their love. It’s amazing that after all those years apart, the universe conspires to bring them together again. In this book, I got to know the real Shep and how his Bucky (Denny) made him a better version of himself. Oh! I freaking love Denny, she’s a strong heroine and oh that sass and her humor. I’ve been waiting for Shep’s redemption since I’ve finished Let’s Get Textual and the waiting is worth it!
Teagan Hunter did it again! I absolutely love this series. This is the fourth and final book in the series. *crying about that*. Not a dull moment in these books. I really enjoyed the sass and banter between the characters. The characters are so real and down to earth, I can imagine them being my best friends. I really love the fact that there is so much vulnerability in these characters this story. They don’t know how to deal with their emotions. The story flows very well and the world building is great. Denver is full of spunk and you route for her the whole time, no matter what happens between her and Shepard. The story is full of flash backs and information from the past, which is awesome. The people in the past books are intertwined in this one and it proves how some times this world is so small. This series is hilarious through every signal book, I laughed so hard the whole time. One of my favorite series. Definitely give these books a shot.
