Spanning four and a half centuries, James A. Michener’s monumental saga chronicles the epic history of Texas, from its Spanish roots in the age of the conquistadors to its current reputation as one of America’s most affluent, diverse, and provocative states. Among his finely drawn cast of characters, emotional and political alliances are made and broken, as the loyalties established over the … course of each turbulent age inevitably collapse under the weight of wealth and industry. With Michener as our guide, Texas is a tale of patriotism and statesmanship, growth and development, violence and betrayal—a stunning achievement by a literary master.
BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from James A. Michener’s Hawaii.

Great historical fiction. Easy to read and learn about the people, events and struggles leading to the development of the great state of Texas
Michener at his best
James Michener’s books are always a treat.
It’s no surprise that a Michner book is to be recommended! He is one of my favorite authors. this tome is reminiscent of Centennial, and Chesapeake in its sweep — which is vast. Whether you live in, and from, or only have nominal interest in the Lone Star State, this book is a must read!
Outstanding! Best book about Texas I have ever read
I read this years ago and bought it again to re-read.
As with alll of his books absolutely sensational! Texas will keep you wishing for more.
Michener always gives more information than I thought existed, but is always readable.
