First time reading this author. Good suspense with good characters and plot.
The bad guys should never have decided to mess with US Attorney, Christine Davis and Texas Ranger, Blake Larsen. A missing dead body and a cover-up bring Christine and Blake together to make them a powerful crime fighting duo.
Ranger Larsen is plagued by a past witness protection assignment that went horribly awry and is determined not to let the same thing happen to Christine. But, she makes it hard on Blake when her determination to find out who was the victim and her sense of justice keep putting her in harm’s way.
Mystery, suspense, and romance makes this an engaging story. With a satisfying ending in finding justice for the victim and a hopeful future for Christine and Blake, I recommend reading this book.

My Thoughts on Texas Witness Threat
I loved this book. It read fast and furious and left me wanting more. Christine Davis is our main character. She’s a US Attorney and really knows her stuff. That’s why it’s so shocking to her when no one believes her that she witnessed a murder after they go to the location and don’t find a body. Of course, it did take them a bit to go look. That might have something to do with her running in front of a car and getting hit and having to go to the hospital and not remembering to tell anyone until later.
Texas Ranger Blake Larsen is the man who hit Christine. Not that he meant to of course. And he did try to miss her. But now he’s all tied up in her case with her because he believes her. He saw the terror in her eyes and she ran in front of his vehicle. She did look like she was running from someone shooting at her.
The real question now though is can Blake keep her safe? Someone knows she was in the building. And someone knows what she saw. They removed the body and covered up the crime. And now they’re set on silencing the one person who can solve the murder, Christine.
This is a fast-paced book that you’re going to love! I highly recommend you grab a drink (hot tea or coffee preferred) and settle in to read this one from cover to cover before you get up.

Texas Witness Threat by Cate Nolan takes readers to the heart of Texas when an assistant US attorney is nearly run over by a Texas Ranger after witnessing a murder. A murder no one but the ranger believes she even witnessed happening.
Christine Davis simply wanted to get out of a thunderstorm. But what started as a quest to seek refuge from the lightning quickly turns into a quest to find answers while trying desperately to stay alive. Ranger Blake Larsen senses something suspicious is going on when Christine’s boss doesn’t believe the upstanding attorney, so he agrees to protect Christine. But her insistence on investigating is like a dagger in Blake’s heart and it might get her killed.
I enjoyed this story. The beginning, with the storm and murder, was intense. And then, when no one but Blake believes Christine – even though we as readers also witnessed exactly what happened – it’s easy to get behind Christine’s desire to find answers and Blake’s questioning of what was really going on. The investigation kept twisting and turning so that it kept me guessing as much as it did them!
If you’re looking for an intense read with heartfelt characters, try Texas Witness Threat.

Only one man believes her story…
What would you do if no one believed you, even those closest to you? That’s a really good question, one I found myself pondering as I read Texas Witness Threat. Somehow I doubt I would be half as generous as Christine is in the book! At any rate, I found that plot decision made by author Cate Nolan to be different and quite interesting. I’m so used to Assistant US Attorneys being believed in fiction…
Texas Witness Threat was another edge-of-your-seat Love Inspired Suspense and I quite enjoyed it. Not a bad choice for my first read of 2021! The settings were great, starting in a creepy empty building during a thunderstorm and winding up on a Texas ranch, with some pretty interesting stops along the way. And I’ll give you a hint, the cover really matches part of the story!
If you are looking for a fairly short, easy, but romantic and suspenseful read, you won’t go wrong in choosing Cate Nolan’s latest from Love Inspired Suspense. It’s a pretty good one!

This suspense novel packed a lot of action in between its pages. With twists and turns and plenty of danger, it was hard to tell who the enemy was and who was just misguided in their thinking.
I liked the two main characters. Christine was an Assistant US Attorney, and although she was a powerful and smart woman, there were some insecurities that she dealt with due to some things in her past. Add in the multiple attempts on her life in this novel, and she definitely needed the help of Texas Ranger Blake Larsen.
Blake also carried around insecurities, even though he was a good and competent Ranger. Events from his childhood impacted him and made him think that there was no room for love in his life. I liked watching these two work together to solve this unique tale!

“She watched him go, and the first peace she’d felt all day wrapped around her heart. She had her own personal Texas Ranger.”
I became a fan of Texas Rangers when I first watched the television show The Lone Ranger and later, Walker, Texas Ranger. Now, I’ve found a new hero who’s a also member of this law enforcement agency! Assistant US Attorney Christine Davis knows that’s she’s witnessed a murder but no one else will believe her. No one, that is, but Ranger Blake Larsen!
A non-stop, roller coaster ride of danger and intrigue begins immediately in Texas Witness Threat and it never lets up! I could feel Christine’s terror in being caught in a severe thunderstorm, her desperate attempt to find shelter from the dangerous lightning, and then, the realization that someone has just been killed and she is the only witness! Ranger Larsen saves her life when she darts out in front of his vehicle and he continues to protect Christine in this exciting new Love Inspired Suspense novel. Will Blake succeed in finding the identity of the killers before he and Christine both become their next victims?
Author Cate Nolan has written an intriguing story filled with likeable characters, heart-racing action, and a sweet romance that may heal past hurts. There is also a subtle faith message in Texas Witness Threat that reminds us that God’s timing is perfect: He knows what we need and He knows exactly when we need it!

4.5 Stars
I enjoy the Love Inspired Suspense books, but sometimes they run together. So when I read an LIS book with an unique plot and twists and turns I didn’t expect, it stands out. And Texas Witness Threat by Cate Nolan does just that.
From the terror of witnessing a murder to the frustration of her claims being ignored, Christine is a character readers will connect with quickly. And then there’s Blake. The only person who seems to be on her side.
The stakes are high, the twists and turns stomach-flipping, and the romance develops at just the right pace. If you’re looking for your next romantic suspense read, you can’t go wrong with this one.

I don’t know if you can tell, but I have been hooked on the Love Inspired Suspense series lately! As with others from the series, with Texas Witness Threat I was captivated from the beginning, the action and suspense beginning instantly.
Christine Davis is in the wrong place at the wrong time, witnessing a murder that was not supposed to be see by anyone. The problem is that no one believes her, despite her being an assistant US Attorney, except Texas Ranger Blake Nolan, who actually almost hits her with her car. Blake is the only one that believes that Christine is telling the truth, and this trust sends them both on a suspense-filled adventure full of close calls and increasing fondness and faith, not only in themselves, but in others.
I enjoyed the story as a whole, but felt like I struggled to connect with Christine. Though Christine is a pretty well-developed character, I found myself feeling as if she somehow always kept me, the reader, at arms length. I always root for love, and am a sucker for a good love story, but I wasn’t as excited about the outcome of this story as I usually am, most likely due to my lack of connection with Christine, which was a big disappointment.
Blake, on the other hand, was the strong and sensitive hero that was easy to fall in love with. My heart went out to his personal struggle throughout the novel, and loved seeing hope rise with him again as the story progressed. I couldn’t wait to find out how things worked out with him, and admired both his and Christine’s strength as they both fought to find the truth.
The fact that it is set in my home state also had me swooning. I am a Lone Star gal through and through, and felt this fact alone kept me engaged, but even if it wouldn’t have been I know I would’ve still been hooked. The pace is perfection, the writing is great, and it has just enough intrigue to keep me guessing until the very end. Though I was able to figure out the ‘who done it’ pretty early on, Christine and Blake made such a wonderful team I couldn’t help but crave to know the outcome.
A great suspense and perfect addition to this already addictive series.

When Christine witnesses a murder while sheltering from the rain, no one believes her except Texas Ranger Blake Nolan.
This book was pure thrill. The action starts on page one and you are kept on your toes as you try to figure out why none of Christine’s friends believe her…and why someone is trying to kill her if she made it all up.
Blake made a great hero. He was scarred from events in his recent and distant past but he kept going. He believed in doing the right thing and kept serving those he felt were in need. His faith in Christine kept her going and gave her the courage to fight for truth and justice.
I like how the romance played out between them–both had reasons they thought a relationship with the other wouldn’t work but they eventually realized that sometimes you have to take a risk for love.
There was a strong theme reminding us that God is always willing to help us and that sometimes what we never knew we needed is exactly what He chooses to gift us with.

Christine Davis is at the wrong place at the wrong time, caught during a thunderstorm she takes cover at what appears to be an empty building site, and ends up witnessing a murder. She is a intelligent woman, and it is infuriating for her not to be believed about what she saw. Texas Ranger Blake Larsen believes her and offers his help and protection.
An engaging and fast paced read, filled with suspense, and an original plot. I liked how Blake and Christine work together to uncover what is really going on, in the race to keep her safe as they dig for answers. Blake and Christine are both very career driven people, and are passionate about fighting for justice, and Blake is good at thinking one step ahead. Christine is good at taking a step back and thinking about the big picture.
Overall, an entertaining read with well developed characters, and an excellent plot. I enjoyed the character growth over the course of the story, and how they were quick thinking and courageous in the face of danger. Great twists and reveals along the way. Definitely worth the read!
