What happens when a young woman is found slumped over the steering wheel of a car that looks like a shooting target and she doesn’t know who she is? What if the Deputy that finds her is the man that she deserted right before their wedding? Will he be willing to forget his deep hurt so that he can protect her as he helps her remember her past?
Author Virginia Vaughan tackles the subject of amnesia in this new book but she also throws identical twins into the mix and suddenly, Deputy Lawson Avery and his family are uncertain who is really staying at their ranch. Are they protecting Ashlee Taylor or could it be her twin Bree? And if it’s Bree, then where in the world is Ashlee?
This is the first book in the Cowboy Lawmen series and Vaughan has written a fast-paced story filled with twists and turns, memorable characters, and a reminder that we all deserve forgiveness and a second chance. I recommend Texas Twin Abduction to all who enjoy Christian romantic suspense and I look forward to the next book in the series!

Texas Twin Abduction by Virginia Vaughan is the first book in the Cowboy Lawmen series. Deputy Lawson Avery is on his final shift as a lawman. He gave law enforcement a try, but Lawson prefers working on the family ranch, Silver Star Ranch. He responds to a call about an abandoned car and finds the back end riddled with bullet holes. Slumped in the driver’s seat is his ex-fiancé, Ashlee Taylor. She awakens in the car with no memories of what happened or even who she is. Ashlee does know that she feels safe around Lawson. She needs to trust Lawson along with his family if she is stay alive since someone is determined to kill her. Ashlee soon learns that her twin is being held captive. Can the Avery brothers learn who is behind the attacks and recover Ashlee’s sister? Texas Twin Abduction is a fast-paced Christian suspense. I thought Texas Twin Abduction was well-written with steady pacing and solid characters. Lawson Avery is a good man who loves living and working on his families’ ranch. Six years ago, Lawson was engaged to Ashlee Taylor who ran away right before their wedding. She wanted to live in the city and have a career which was not going to happen in the small town where she grew up. I liked the Avery clan. All the brothers have jobs in law enforcement or military. The romance is subtle which I appreciated, but it is present throughout the story. I could tell that Lawson had his heart broken by Ashlee and has not gotten over the loss. I thoroughly enjoyed the action-packed mystery. There are great twists along the way. Texas Twin Abduction is a story about forgiveness and second chances. I look forward to Miles story in Texas Holiday Hideout. Texas Twin Abduction is suspenseful tale with missing memories, troubled twins, a hardboiled hitman, a brokenhearted rancher, and distressing danger.

Start with an accident, bullet holes in the car and amnesia and you have a page-turner you will not set down! Add to the intrigue with a bag full of money and your imagination goes in a million directions. Lawson Avery is a deputy that is hanging up his badge to be a cowboy, running the family ranch. Ashlee, a former fiancé, appears to be the unlikely victim found in the car – unlikely because she was the law abiding twin. Now if it was her sister Bree, that would explain a lot.
After becoming a target in multiple instances, Ashlee begins to wish she had her memory back. Was it possible she is blocking her recall because she believes her twin is badly hurt or dead? The author has done a fabulous job of keeping you on the edge of your seat culminating in a totally unexpected ending. I highly recommend this for an afternoon of enjoyment!

I really liked the main character Lawson Avery and reading about his family and ranch. I also liked the amnesia and twin element to the story.
There was alot of drama, action and twists which kept me reading non stop until I finished it. I liked the ending except for the last two pages, which seemed very unrealistic to my opinion. Other than that, the book was really really good!

She can’t remember him…but he remembers her…
Whoa! What a wild ride! I’ve read a few of Virginia Vaughan’s previous Love Inspired Suspense titles, so, I know to expect the unexpected from her. And if there’s one book to expect the unexpected, it’s Texas Twin Abduction.
I was kept riveted to the page right from page one. I mean, what else can you be when the story starts off with the aftermath of gunfire, an ex-girlfriend’s reappearance, and a lot of missing memory? I will confess that, while I did see one big switch-on-a-switch coming, it was still no less startling when it did.
I’m a definite fan of Virginia Vaughan, her stories are a little on the grittier side of Love Inspired Suspense, which is what I love about them. Texas Twin Abduction is a great example of her page-turner romantic suspense. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next Cowboy Lawmen book…

Texas Twin Abduction by Virginia Vaughan is the first book in the Cowboy Lawmen series and definitely worth reading if you love inspirational suspenseful romances with cowboy lawmen as the heroes.
Ashlee Taylor has no idea why she is waking up in a car that has been wrecked and shot full of bullets and is being told by the deputy who has found her that she is his ex-fiancee. She has no memory of her past or what has happened, but something tells her the one person she can trust to help her find her sister and find out who is hunting her is Lawson Avery.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading more books in this wonderful series!

Texas Twin Abduction is an exciting and well-written story. Both main characters are very likable, and both have made some mistakes. I liked that the female character had a deep love and loyalty to her sister and willingly put her life on the line to save her. The male main character had a strong and loving family, and I enjoyed seeing them stick up for him. The plot has some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. There’s a perfect HEA. This story kept me guessing. Amnesia tales draw me in. Which twin is she really … Who is telling the whole truth … And, of course, who is behind it all—ordering the deaths of so many with seeming lack of conscience. The author created credible characters who made the reader care and kept the suspense going throughout the novel, plus she threw in some surprises. Finding twenty-five thousand dollars and an unconscious woman in a car with bullet holes in a rural area ramp up the opening scene. And the man who finds the victim recognizes her—his former love who had left him for city life. As he helps her while she doesn’t remember anything and someone is trying to kill her, they grow closer. But their relationship seems doomed because of their past. They have both changed over the years, yet they wonder if things between them could work out … if they live long enough to even try. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

Wow, this book was full of twists and turns, and I loved it! A “good”twin and a “bad” twin and one of them gets kidnapped. The main twin character is found on the side of the road with bullet holes in the back of her car, unconscious. When she comes to she has no memory of who she is or what has happened. And there is a satchel with twenty five thousand dollars inside! I just love these amnesia stories. They add to the intrigue and suspense. She is found by Lawson, her ex-fiancé and he takes it on himself to protect her from whatever evil has followed her. Lots of action with bullets flying wherever they happen to be. No where is safe for either. What is happening and who is responsible? And why doesn’t her twin answer any of the texts she’s been sending?
Grab a cup of coffee (or tea), have a seat, but hold on to it for the “ride” of your life. Loved it!

This was such a fun read. It read very fast and I couldn’t put it down. Thankfully it wasn’t overly long so I was able to read it in a few hours after the kids were in bed so no interruptions.
I fell in love with the characters first off. Poor Ashlee has no idea what’s happening and has no memory of herself or her twin or anything that happened to put her back her in a life she left behind. She only knows who she is because of her ID and a man who says he is her ex-fiance. Talk about weird.
As time progresses they put the puzzle pieces together that her twin got kidnapped and they’re off to save her before it’s too late. Meanwhile, Ashlee stays at the farm with Lawson and his family. Let’s just say his brothers are not that happy to see her. Thankfully they have some strings to pull to help solve the mystery though.
There are lots of twists and turns like someone sharing with the enemy and some discussion about which twin is actually which!
A great read that I highly recommend. You’re going to love this one. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the next book which I’m really hoping is out soon because I’m not super patient.

Ashlee Taylor is in trouble and the only person who can help is her ex-fiance, Lawson Avery. The trouble is, she can’t remember what her problem is or anything about her past.
This was an action-packed book and the characters were well-written and engaging. I wanted to know more about their lives. I wondered along with Lawson whether he and Ashley would reconnect even as I worried that when she regained her memory she’d want nothing to do with him.
These characters struggled with identity and purpose as so many of us do and I was glad when they were able to find healing and wholeness.
The faith element was very prevalent and I was happy to read about characters who struggled as I do yet were able to find hope in Christ.
The twists and turns of this story kept me entertained from beginning to end.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publishers and Celebrate Lit; a positive review was not required.

The first installment in this new series is action packed and lacks nothing for suspense fans. I was intrigued by the title because I have always thought twins were fascinating. Bree and Ashlee are identical twins but one wanders off into the world where danger awaits. The opening pages set the stage for a story filled with drug dealers, secrets and a bit of romance.
I wasn’t sure at first if I would like the storyline of one of the twins having amnesia but the author plots the story in a way that captures mystery and questions that kept me reading. It is a fast read but don’t be fooled by that. It is packed with characters that I wanted to know more about. I can’t say much about the story because I can’t give anything away. The author threw in a few twists that I didn’t see coming. I’m pretty good at guessing plots, but this one took me by surprise.
Lawson adds an element of knight in shining armor as he lays aside the past. The faith element is just enough that it is not preachy but definitely shows how someone can change when they give their life to Jesus. Lawson is determined to find out what is going on and why his ex fiancée is involved. I loved , loved, loved the way the author shows us through a character that God is a God of second chances. I hope the author is hard at work on the next book in this exciting series.

Texas Twin Abduction is the first book I remember reading by Virginia Vaughan but it will not be my last! And since it starts a new series, it’s the perfect place to jump into her writing, if you’re like me and she’s a new-to-you author.
I was caught up in this story from the very beginning. Lawson may currently be a sheriff’s deputy but his heart lies at the family ranch. Still, he’s helping out his brother Josh (aka the sheriff) when he comes across a bullet-ridden car … and his ex-fiancee, who doesn’t remember him at all. Not to mention the bag with lots of cash they find in her car, the men still trying to kill her, and her identical twin who appears to have been kidnapped. That’s just the first few pages, so you can imagine how intense the rest of the book is. The heart-in-your-throat-will-they-survive action only briefly lets up throughout the story to allow a bit of time for some romance that has been long delayed for these two – and the tangled feelings that go along with that. Both main characters are layered & well-developed, and they both have a fighting spirit that helps them continue to stay alive even when all the odds seem stacked against them.
Bottom Line: Vaughan’s writing voice is easy to read and keeps you firmly engaged from start to finish. The story is extremely well-plotted, so prepare for some stunning twists & turns along the way. A sweet romance, great characters, and a beautifully redemptive thread enhance the suspense elements too, and it all comes together to make for an intense ride that will more than satisfy fans of the genre. I’m eager to follow this series and spend more time with Lawson’s family. Perfect for fans of Dana Mentink, Susan Sleeman, and Lynette Eason!

This is the second identical twin suspense story that I’ve read this week—a fun coincidence in my reviewing schedule. Twins have always fascinated me, and I always thought that it would be such a neat experience to have an identical twin. These stories, however, certainly demonstrate the potential drawbacks!
In “Texas Twin Abduction,” Virginia Vaughan pens a story that includes several conventional crime novel elements interwoven with faith. The novel begins with Lawson Avery’s discovery of a car containing bullet holes and a woman suffering from amnesia whom he recognizes as his former fiancée, Ashlee Taylor. And so it begins. Facing his heartbreak all over again, he and his brothers work to figure out what happened to her and how her sister, Bree, is involved. The only problem is that someone wants her dead, and her sister is nowhere to be found.
As far as suspense novels go, this one is well-written and contains suitable character development with regard to the main characters. I did guess the outcome of the story early on, but I still wanted to keep reading to find out the full details. I appreciate that Vaughan does not gloss over forensic and law enforcement particulars as they pertain to the plot, as this made the story’s execution more credible. I am always glad when nothing seems too implausible. My favorite element is the theme of second chances, in regard to both God and people. Despite the mistakes that we make in life, God is ready to forgive us if we will just come to Him, and He makes all things new. As Lawson remarks, “Neither of us is perfect, but we’ve both been made perfect by the blood of Jesus. He’s washed away all our sins and made us new creations.” And because of this incredible gift, we can extend the grace and mercy of Christ to others who are in need; as with “Texas Twin Abduction,” you never know whose life may change for the better!

From the moment I began reading this book, I found myself caught up in the storyline. With twins, a past engagement, danger, mystery, and more a lot happened in this book. I think one of my favorite parts was the interactions between Lawson Avery and his family, especially his brothers.
I loved the role faith played in this story. With Bree and Ashley (the twins), I found myself wondering about the two of them as I was reading. I have to say I really enjoyed how this book turned out.
Enough information was provided that I had an idea of where the storyline might take me, but there were enough misdirections to keep me guessing.
I love how this book illustrates that we can be accepted by God no matter what we have done in our past as long as we open our hearts and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
So if you like reading suspense novels filled with danger, check out this book for yourself. I truly believe it is worth reading.

Virginia Vaughan knows how to keep the reader on the edge of the seat with intense suspense, non-stop action, and twists and turns in the plot. This first book in her new Cowboy Lawmen series introduces us to the Avery family – a lovely family with five law enforcement/military brothers and a social worker sister. Lawson is a loyal, steadfast, down-to-earth deputy who really wants nothing more than working the land and maintaining the family ranch. Ashlee is a sophisticated woman who broke her engagement to Lawson years ago to pursue a fast-paced career in the city. An accident, amnesia, and constant threats from someone who means to harm Ashlee bring the ex-fiances together again as they work to figure out why Ashlee is being pursued with help from Lawson’s brothers. The romance is subtle in the plot but definitely present. Lawson learns about forgiveness and second chances as he struggles with Ashlee’s return.
If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will definitely enjoy this book. I can’t wait to read the next installment in the Avery family saga! I received a copy of the book from the publisher/author via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Thank you in advance to the author, Virginia Vaughan, for providing an complimentary review copy. A positive review was not required and all words are my own.
I am definitely used to the Harlequin Intrique line which is classified as romantic suspense. Last year I discover the Love Inspired Suspense line. LIS as it is commonly called, for those who may not be aware, is more of a Christian/faith based line of romantic suspense. Some of the LIS authors also publish with Revell, Bethany House, or Thomas Nelson’s TNZ line.
While I have another book (“Killer Insight”) by this author, this is the first book I’ve read.
This is the first in a new series, “Cowboy Lawmen”, and as the first book, it does work as a standalone. But, I definitely have to get the next book in the series.
This starts off with the action and literally does not stop until the end. It just keeps going! And, this book definitely fit this genre of “romantic suspense” of course with more emphasis on suspense.
The characters were well-rounded and slightly well-developed. This isn’t because the writer doesn’t take the time, but this novel is so fast-paced it is hard to settle down and get to know the characters. I am looking forward to seeing more of the Avery brothers and reading their stories.
I absolutely loved this novel. Of course, I am partially biased because it features a Texas lawman, and being from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area – the novel’s location made this a “definitely must-read”. Add in the idea of identical twins with one missing and the other with amnesia, the story definitely takes hold of the reader’s attention and doesn’t stop. Add in kidnapping, murder, and corruption – this really keeps the pages being turned.
There is also the romance of “will they get back together again or not”, especially with amnesia thrown in.
I’ll admit, I’m the type to read the end usually before I read the book, so I was surprised where the author ended this. Of course with that spoiler, I had to see how this was going to play out.
And, play out it did. This small sample of Virginia Vaughan’s writing has me wanting to hunt down more of her novels.
After the accident, Lawson thinks that “Ashlee” is different. She does have amnesia, so that works quite well. But, there are some subtleties that tended to cause me to wonder as well.
Vaughan has the great reveal by halfway of chapter seven. It isn’t until a “health issue” that confirms Lawson’s suspicion. I thought it was just brilliant! At first I was even confused, but it came to me.
By chapter nine, the “big baddie” is revealed and didn’t come as too much of a shock to me. However that didn’t bother me at all.
There were a few typos. On page 110, Ashlee’s name was spelled Ashley; and three pages later, there was a reference to her brothers. The exact line: “He must have sensed the need for her to get out from under the scrutiny of her brothers because he squeezed her hand, then quickly released it.” [Hospital scene with Lincoln and Ashlee]. Overall it didn’t really bother the entire plot but it did make me re-read it to make sure of what I was supposed to have read.
Overall, this was a fast-paced, heart-pounding, never-stopping action type of read. It was definitely hard to put down, and I couldn’t stop reading or rather didn’t want to stop reading it, but “life” happens so obviously one has to put the book down.
While the LIS books do have bible quotes at the beginning, and do have some “faith” themes – this one tended a bit on the heavier side without sounding preachy in tone.
This is very much written for those who enjoy a romantic-suspense novel with Christian/Faith themes. Fans of the author and those who enjoy a “clean” romantic-suspense will more than likely enjoy this book as well.
Book #2 – Texas Holiday Hideout will be released October 2020.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

4.5 stars

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Celebrate Lit and was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
This was an enjoyable read. I love these quick suspense stories. I love a story with amnesia and life on a ranch. Ashlee and Bree are twins and you are not sure til the end who is who. I loved the twists and turns. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
