HimJames had plans for his life. Those plans were derailed by the surprise arrival of his daughter. His life revolved around her. Then she arrived with her beautiful brown hair that was made to wrap around his wrist, and a butt that was to die for in a tight pair of jeans. Nevertheless, he didn’t need any more drama in his life. His ex-girlfriend was stirring enough of that up for ten women. Yet, … women. Yet, there was something about her that soothed his soul.
Her

Him
He knew life could change in an instant. One soul crushing instant.
When he’s presented with the aspect of losing Shiloh before he’s ever even had her, he decides it’s time to grab life by the handlebars and ride it like he stole it. Then that threat not only touches his woman, but his daughter. And there’s no power on God’s green earth that can protect them from a father’s wrath.

I have to tell you… I was really excited for this book and I’m so glad I got the chance to read it! James won a place in my heart several books ago and I was excited for him to finally get his own happy ending.
Shiloh was Sam’s sister (Boomtown) and from the moment she entered the scene, her life wasn’t easy. Not that she had it great to begin with. Her father dumped her on Sam because she poked her nose where it didn’t belong. So she’s without her dad, the brother she grew up with is unreachable, and the brother she’s just met wants nothing to do with her. Good times.
James steps in and like the hero he is, he gives Shiloh her person. He became the one person she could always count on. The one person who would always give her just what she needed. Aside from his daughter, Janie, he put her first.
He had a ton of baby mama drama (it was pretty extreme), she had some evil chasing her, and a ton of her father’s secrets were finally revealed. I’m thrilled about it and I’m looking forward to how it affects the stories to come.
If you know anything about this author’s books, you know that they can be devastating, heartwarming, hilarious, sexy and necessary. If you don’t know… now you know.
Shiloh is someone that her brother didn’t really want in his life. And James didn’t need anything else to happen in his life. Not when he has so much piling-up on him already. Yet Shiloh is just wanting to be able say that her bothers and father do actually care. Others don’t want them to be together, but they needed to see that what they were really needing was to not care what everyone else thought and live. Once they were able to finally see this things were finally able to come to light that helps them finally be happy.
I loved the way that James loved his daughter and even did whatever he needed to do to make sure that she was safe. I could not get enough of them and wished that there was more to their story.
I just loved James and Shilohs story. It made you laugh, cry and keep you on the edge of your seat.
It was great to see Shiloh’s relationship with her brother, Sam, grow and to finally get some answers about that father of theirs.
I would definitely recommend reading this book and the others in this series
James and Shiloh are perfection. Their road was not smooth but their destination is beautiful. They have undeniable chemistry, their connection is amazing, and their love is unconditional. This is another emotional roller coaster ride to go on filled with drama, suspense, and sinfully sensual moments. I enjoyed this book.
Oh James, falling for Sam & Sebastian’s sister and Silas’ daughter; but James is perfect for her, and Shiloh is a force to be reckoned with on her own. And Janie is SUCH a hoot. Lani Lynn Bale wrote the most awesome book for James & Shiloh, I laughed, cried, got mad at some of them, and just went thru the whole emotional line. I love this book so much!!
Wow! I have been hoping James would find his woman and Shiloh is the perfect one for him and Janie. I loved how much Shiloh loves the children she protects in her job. The chemistry between James and Shiloh was amazing from the start. The battle that they fought with his ex, her family and just trying to find their way together. LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!
Shiloh finds herself in half-brother’s care after she digs too deep and asks too many questions that ends up putting her life in danger. When James, her half-brother Sam’s brother in law sees that she isn’t fitting in to their group and Sam doesn’t care, he steps in.
This is the first time I read/listened to a book by this author, and maybe I shouldn’t have started in Book 5, but I just couldn’t keep up with it. This, for me, has too many interconnected characters and plotlines. I did like the chemistry between James and Shiloh, though, and how strong and resourceful Shiloh is.
Mason Lloyd and Stephanie Rose did a great job bringing this story to life.
Texas Tornado is a contemporary romance written in dual first person POV and done in dual narration. It’s a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
Texas Tornado
Freebirds Series, Book 5
By: Lani Lynn Vale
Narrated by: Mason Lloyd, Stephanie Rose
“You can tell a woman’s mood by watching her hands. For instance, if she’s holding a gun, she’s probably angry.” With quotes like this starting every chapter, Lani Lynn Vale will grab your interest and keep you invested. This 5th book in the Freebird series lets us in on James and Shiloh/s story. I have not listened to any of the others, and easily followed the story, so it definite stands alone. Shiloh has a goal in life and that is to protect innocent children. Now when she comes to the MC after creating some havoc with her father, she finds herself attracted to James, who just so happens to have a young daughter, Janie. These three are priceless. The unmistakable chemistry between James and Shiloh is hot, but I almost found myself loving Janie the most. What a character she is, a little imp and so much fun. This story definitely shows the family life created by the MC, and how they will do anything for each other. I love getting to know the people, and in this case watch the relationship between Shiloh and James grow. The danger is evident, the crazy ex wanting custody of Janie is troubling, but the twist in the outcome will leave you smiling. This is a great listen and I am going back to the beginning to hear the others!
Storytellers Mason Lloyd and Stephanie Rose make this a joy to listen to. Lloyd is the perfect James, with a soft heart with Janie, but definitely takes charge when necessary. He has a great voice and lets us easily see James. Rose has all the characteristics of Shiloh brought forth in her performance. Shiloh is a tough one, and we can feel it, but we also feel compassion in her. I loved these two together.

Even reading this book for the second time it still surprises me at the ferocity the emotions of this story hit you. Jamie and Shiloh will take you on a ride that will have you hanging on tight as they face not only their attraction but all the chaos and drama that surrounds them head on. Texas Tornado is not only impassioned but sensual, angsty and with some hilarious moments. Their story will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. Be warned the tissues will be required no questions asked when you hit the epilogue, it was powerful and affecting and one that will touch your heart.
James and Shiloh’s story is filled with love and heart break. With that being said, I feel I should say that each one of these stories has a lesson in life all of should abide by and that is to Treat Others How You Want To Be Treated.
This is my personal favourite of the Freebirds series – Melanie
And this is yet another Lani book that I love! And yet another one that had me cry. I was doing great, until the epilogue and the letter from Dougie to Kayla. The tears fell. I did read this series after I read the others, so I went out of order with the spin offs being read first. But I still loved every book.
Shiloh was introduced in the previous book, this one starts about 8 months after that. She is Sam’s younger sister. But he’s pushed her away because of their father. He hasn’t made an attempt to get to know her at all. Don’t worry, that all changes and he does become the big brother he should have been from the second he met her.
She does have a little crush on James. Well, maybe not so little.
Just like all the other female characters, she’s not weak. She’s funny as heck too.
James has a thing for her also, it just takes him awhile to make it known to her and everyone else.
Plus he has the battle with his ex, Janie’s mom, over custody even though she signed all her rights away.
There are some horrible things that happen in this book, but it does all work out in an awesome way.
Little Janie is a trip! What she, and the other Free kids, say and come up with is hilarious. It would be awesome to get their stories once they grow up! Hint hint
Of course, the intros to each chapter had me laughing, once again.
“You can tell a woman’s mood by watching her hands. For instance, if she’s holding a gun, she’s probably angry.”
“To make sure we always have a happy marriage, I promise to always cop a feel when you get ready in the morning.”
James and his sister Cheyenne have banter that will make you crack up. Shiloh is the sister of Sam and her Dad is one mean badass, by the name of Silas. Janie is so funny. James is a single dad and an amazing one at that. I so love the Free series.
