“So beautiful. You make it impossible to think.” He pulled her against him and found her mouth. “You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do this.” When he let her up for air, she whispered as though she couldn’t trust her voice, “Is this another Texas custom?” “Absolutely,” he growled. “Welcome to Texas.” Rancher Cooper Thorne thinks his life is finally on an even keel-until Delta Dandridge steps … Delta Dandridge steps off the stagecoach and claims she’s his mail order bride. Brash and quick-witted, the meddling Southern Belle is everything Cooper thought he never wanted…and everything his heart is telling him he needs.

Cooper has a hard find when he comes face to face with Delta. She has a past that haunts her just as bad as Cooper does. Then a blast from his past comes to torment them all
Texas Mail Order Bride by Linda Broday kept me turning the pages from beginning to end. Needing to escape her hometown, Delta answers a mail order bride ad. An exchange of correspondence takes place before the groom sends for her, but when she arrives in Texas and meets Cooper, he has no idea who she is. Sadly, he breaks the news he never placed an ad and never wrote to her; hence, no wedding. Needing a fresh start from the awful childhood she left behind, Delta decides to stay in Cooper’s town. Cooper can’t really say he’s unhappy with her decision. She is pretty, and she stirs something within him.
Ms. Broday brings to life a hero and heroine tormented by their pasts. I sympathized with Delta’s longing for just one person to care about her, admired her tenacity to revive a shabby town through grace, dignity and honest friendship, and bonded with her during her cat-and-mouse relationship with Cooper. Cooper’s determination to never be like his father and remain single also roused my sympathy. There’s more to him than meets the eye, which Ms. Broday slowly revealed, and made me like him twice as much. And when trouble lands at Cooper’s doorstep, watching him and Delta succumb to their feelings for one another while battling danger made for an exciting read. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Cooper Thorne decided when he was younger he was going to forever remain a bachelor. He took the oath with his brothers to be the bachelors club. When Delta Dandridge stepped into his town proclaiming to be his mail order bride he didn’t take it well. Both of these characters are strong headed and it stems from their tragic pasts. You’ll enjoy all the twists and turns within the book and learn so much about the town and it’s inhabitants, not just Cooper and Delta. A wonderful 5 star read.
Historical Western Romances are my guilty pleasure. There is just something so intriguing and exciting about the life people lived in the wild west. This is the one historical subgenre that I can’t get enough of, and Linda Broday is one of the best authors in this genre in my opinion. The mail order bride trope is definitely one of my favorites, so I was pretty excited to get started on this book. Delta travels to Texas after accepting to be Cooper’s mail order bride, however, Cooper doesn’t know anything about this. Delta decides to stick around and make a life for herself anyways even if Cooper doesn’t want a bride. Delta is the type of character I love; she was strong, independent, loyal and very caring. There is a strong attraction between her and Cooper, but she is a bit hesitant because she knows he is set on his ways of staying a bachelor.
I always love that Linda doesn’t only focus on romance, but that the story also is about a community and helping others out. She shows a great look into the bond between Cooper and his brothers Rand and Brett. Everything just comes together perfectly. There is always some sort of action or suspense added to her stories, that gives a great picture of how life was back then. It also elevates the story and makes it more interesting. The romance was great and I loved seeing Delta and Cooper together, I also loved each of their friendship with other people in town. Texas Mail Order Bride is another strong and entertaining novel by Linda Broday, and I look forward to reading the other two books (which are focusing on Cooper’s brothers) in this series.
Love the town of Battle Creek & its bachelors! Cooper, Rand and Brett are brothers who’ve decided they will always be bachelors – forever. What fun it was watching the feisty Delta Dandridge barrel into town and prove the first brother, Cooper, wrong! By the end of the book I wanted to move to Battle Creek. Instead, I did the next best thing – I immediately bought book 2 in the “Bachelors of Battle Creek” series.
