I really enjoyed this book a lot, it was very hard to put down. It was edge of your seat suspenseful. I enjoyed visiting with the Avery family again and being on their farm as well. This book was Christian and clean.
If you’ve ever read a Virginia Vaughan book you automatically know this one’s gonna be a good’n!
Trust. Secrets. That’s the theme throughout this book. The Bible says in Proverbs chapter 3 verse 5 to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart…” It’s hard to trust in the Lord if we can’t even trust each other.
In Texas Holiday Hideout Melissa Morgan didn’t know who she could trust. Can she trust U.S. Marshal Miles Avery? He seems like a good guy but he keeps secrets too. I can’t even imagine going into the WITSEC program and leaving behind everything and everyoneI know and love. But that’s exactly what’s ahead for Melissa and her young son Dylan.
I loved getting to come out and visit with the Avery family in their beautiful Ranch again! I can’t wait for the other books in this series!
Texas Holiday Hideout (Cowboy Lawmen Book 2) by Virginia Vaughan is an awesome story that I have read. This is book number two in this awesome suspense series that I have loved reading and I am so hooked on it I can barely wait to read the rest of this awesome series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about romance and suspense in their stories.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
This is book 2 in the Cowboy Lawmen series. The book is action packed and full of twist. I love suspense and this book is an excellent example of that. Melissa is literally running for her life, and US marshal Miles Avery is trying to keep her alive. The only place he thinks she’ll be safe is at his family ranch. But, is it really safe? A series of events take place and it just my cost Melissa her life. Broken rules, secret lives, and danger all equal Texas Holiday Hideout.
Thank you Virginia Vaughan for another great read.
A spine tingling read that draws you in from the first pages and keeps you ttotally engaged Plenty of s
Another can’t put it down winner! I became annoyed when I got interrupted while reading this suspense novel. For me, that is always one of the tests for how good a book is. When you read a lot of suspense stories, you will often experience repetitions in the storylines. So as I read I do usually pick up the clues leading me to the actual suspect. However, I love this author’s style because she always manages to throw in something that I was not expecting. NOTE: No spoilers will be given in this review. I will only state that it is an enjoyable read. My thanks to the author.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by the author via BookFunnel but the thoughts and opinions in this review are totally my own.
After Melissa’s mother is murdered and she sees the killer she learns her whole life had been false. Her mother had been a witness to a murder and testified and been put in Witness Protection when Melissa was just 5. Now with her 3 year old son WITSEC is trying to protect her from the hitman who killed her mother. But somehow they keep being found. Enter Miles who takes her to his family ranch under the guise of her being his new bride. No one knows where he has taken her but a series of dangerous events hint they have been found again anyway. After her mother lying to her her whole life Melissa hates lying to Miles’ family and despite her attraction to him the secrets and lies her tells because of his job put a wall between them. Can God’s love protect her and help her move past her trust issues?
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I must say it will not be the last one. I really enjoyed this book so much that I forgot to eat supper. Once I started reading it I just could not put it down. I found myself missing the characters when it was finished.
Melissa walks into the room and sees the man who has just murdered her Mother. She has gone to the police station and identified him, now she is on the run.
Being forced to live on the run with a three year old while someone wants you dead is a rough life. Ms. Vaughan portrays it in her writing so well that you feel like you are there with Melissa and living it with her. A must read.
This clean Christian suspense romance is the second book in the series. It was even better than book one of the series. If you are a new reader, no worries, this is definitely a stand alone.
Melissa Morgan witnessed the murder of her mother by a criminal she was able to identify. Not realizing that she was opening Pandora’s box. Melissa discovers that she and her Mom had been in the Witness Protection Program for the last 20 years, and now that danger is following her and her son, she is under the protection of the US Marshals. But there is a mole in the department and after the third threat to her life, US Marshal Miles Avery becomes her sole protector. Neither expecting that feelings would develop, but realizing there was no future for them.
The lies continue when Miles decides the best place to keep her safe was to take her to his family’s ranch and tells his family she is his wife.
But the danger follows them to the ranch. Who is the mole? Will they survive the danger? If they do, will their time together be only a memory?
The plot was engaging and the characters well developed . Another winner by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is the second book of the Cowboy Lawman series. In this exciting book, a young widow, Melissa Morgan, sees her mother murdered and she and her 3 year old son run and find themselves under the protection of the US Marshalls. Their location keeps getting compromised, and they wind up staying on the ranch of one of the US Marshalls.
As I read this book, it felt familiar as I’d already met some of the characters in the first book and was immediately drawn into the story. This is a family that truly loves each other and has each others back. Their location is eventually compromised on the ranch and the action is nonstop. This book has suspense, action, romance, and the book has a Christian theme to it. It is a very clean read and another good book with heart pounding action and a satisfying conclusion that will leave you hoping there are more books in this series to come!
Another wonderful read by Virginia Vaughan! Texas Holiday Hideout is classic Vaughan. WITSEC, US Marshalls, danger, and falling in love. The perfect mix for a great story. Miles and Melissa’s story of learning to trust again is a must-read.
This was a great book! A definite page turner, edge of your seat suspense. I didn’t want to put it down. Melissa and Miles were so fun and entertaining and yet there was a depth to them that let you really get to know where they were coming from. Highly recommend!
Texas Holiday Hideout is exciting from the start. Melissa and Miles are well-developed and very likable characters that take you so into the story, you’ll need to unwind a bit after you finish it! The plot has twists and turns that keep interest very high and moves at a perfect pace. Faith is woven naturally into the story. I loved the Ackerman family; and their ranch makes a perfect setting.
I definitely plan to read more of this series and other works by Virginia Vaughan. I highly recommend this compelling book to romantic suspense readers, clean/wholesome romance readers, Christian fiction readers, and to readers who like a lot of action.
I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this gripping romantic suspense.
Thank you in advance to the author Virginia Vaughan for providing an advanced review copy as part of a launch team. A positive review was not required or requested, and all words are my own.
This is the second book in the “Cowboy Lawmen Romance” series.
Just like the first one – this starts off with a bang. Though not quite as literal, it is definitely attention getting. Since I read the first one, I HAD to read this one.
While both have so far been standalone reads, I am sure readers like myself will benefit from reading them together. I know that when I re-read them, it will be together.
In the first book “Texas Twin Abduction”, which was Lawson’s story, we met the other Avery brothers who were in various divisions of law enforcement. One of those brothers was Miles, who is a U.S Marshal.
Like the previous book, the plot is definitely well structured in this exciting, page-turning, action packed novel that left me doubting every character (except Miles’ family). There were so many people I suspected – Miles’ boss, one of the young hands at the ranch, and even someone in the sheriff’s department. At least Melissa and her son Dylan weren’t suspects.
I was definitely hooked by the end of chapter one; and I did not want to put this down. It was like watching a suspense movie on TV.
There is SO much to love about this book – law enforcement, the action, the Avery family, and the developing romance of Miles and Melissa. And, for me – there was nothing to dislike at all.
Fake marriages very seldom work in any kind of story – for any reason, but this one really had a great thing going for it. The Avery family is definitely one that anyone would want to be a part of.
I would’ve liked to have seen more of Lawson and Bree, as well as heard an update on her sister. This story is briefly mentioned in chapter nine (9).
Vaughan’s writing kept this at a near non-stop pace. It was so fast-paced that I could barely take notes. And, I had to stop to catch my breath. The author definitely has a gift for intense story-telling.
And, she even threw in a twist that left me wondering – what is going on here?
Vaughan also delves into the world of secrecy and both sides of it – both the good and bad sides. The good that protects people like Melissa, but the bad that can also hurt people like her.
This is a Love Inspired Suspense so there will be mentions of God and faith. They are not central to the story though. The tone isn’t preachy either.
Fans of the series, the author, and genre are sure to LOVE this book. I’m eagerly awaiting book #3 in this series.
Texas Holiday Hideout by Virginia Vaughan is the second in her Cowboy Lawmen series. This book takes you on a non stop thrill ride of suspense. Melissa Morgan and her three year old son are forced into running and hiding from the person who murdered her mother. Melissa discovers her mother’s biggest secret is that she was raised in the WITSEC program. History seems to be repeating itself.
U.S. Marshall Miles Avery is tasked with keeping Melissa and her son safe from harm. But this harm is coming from more than one source. Follow along with Virginia as she weaves her tale masterfully, as only she does.
Each story gets better and better. I somehow missed the first book in this series. An error I will remedy quickly. Vaughan is an expert in weaving suspense, intrigue and mystery with love, faith and humanity. Her characters are rich in that they have flaws and shortcomings, but with faith, family and perseverance there is always a happily ever after. I love when she creates a series for her readers. We get to invest our own emotions in a new family and town. I can’t wait to read the first then impatiently await the next in this series.
Thank you to the author who provided an advance copy of this book, without expectation of a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own.
When Melissa Morgan witnesses her mother being murdered she can identify the killer. She also finds out that she had grown up in Witness Protection and never knew. Someone keepstracking she and her son, Dylan and they have to keep moving around. Texas Ranger Miles Avery is assigned to protect them. This book is non stop action, suspense, intrigue, and strong characters make this a five star read!
I received this book to review and this is my honest opinion.
The story was pretty good. There was a TON of action for such a short book (217 pages). From page one you are in the life of a mom and her son who are in WITSEC. Unfortunately for them there is a mole in the program who is helping the bad guys locate them. When handsome US marshal Miles Avery whisks them away to his family’s ranch in Texas EVERYTHING changes. There was love, shoot-outs, kidnappings and the mole is captured. Which Avery will have their story told next? I can’t wait to see.
This was an excellent book. It is book 2 in the Cowboy Lawman series. You get to reunite with the family from the first book; the Texas Twin Abduction. If you have not read the first one , this book can be read as a standalone. It is about a woman and her son and the US Marshall who tries to keep her safe. It shows some of the hardships and dangers of being in the witness protection program. It also shows how faith and family can get you through even the hardest times. I definitely recommend this book. I look forward to reading more of this series.
this is a wonderful story, her mother is killed and her house is broken into. he is a marshal trying to protect her but they keep finding them. what is going on and can he and his family protect them and the rest of the family if you like suspense and romance you will enjoy reading the book i was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review
‘God, I don’t know where to turn.’
Melissa is stunned to learn that she has been in witness protection nearly all her life when her mother is killed. Now there is a mole in the WITSEC program and US Marshal Miles Avery is tasked with keeping widow Melissa and her 3 year old son safe. And that’s mighty hard to do when you don’t know who to trust and everywhere you go for safety, you are found.
This second book in Virginia Vaughan’s series is non stop suspense and will keep you guess until the end. Recommended,
*My thanks to the author and publisher for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is my own.
