He’s a country superstar; she’s a small town waitress. When the real world slams into their stolen dream, whose heart will be the one to break? He’s been leaving all his life… waitress in Ruby’s Cafe ever since high school. Walker Roundtree is country music’s brightest star, known by all for his laid-back charm and irresistible appeal to the opposite sex. Ever since his first visit to Sweetgrass Springs, there have been verbal fireworks between him and Jeanette as she proved to be the only woman immune to his charm.
Now their paths have crossed in the outside world, and they’re seeing each other in a new light. Fireworks of a very different sort are sparking the sky—but then Walker’s world is upended by a tragedy, and the only one who steps in to help him is the very woman who swore never to put herself at his mercy. For a few days, they have only each other to rely upon, and these two lonely hearts find refuge in each other.
But all too soon, the real world demands its due, and their refuge is no longer private. The days of dreaming, the nights of yearning and hope face the harsh light of reality, and the only question is:
Whose heart will be the one to break?
An original love song, Never Forever, written and performed especially for this story by Eric Dove, is available at online music stores as well as in the audiobook.

I loved “Texas Charm”. Jean Brashear has a gift of being an awesome writer. When I start a story I am instantly wanting more. They are page-turners and/or hard to stop audibles. Jeanette, small town waitress turned big city fashion designer was a pleasant surprise to heart throb, Walker Roundtree. He saw her in fashionable clothes and certainly liked what he saw! Walker frequently showed up in small town, Sweetgrass Springs for charitable functions and to perform at his friends weddings. When he’d seen Jeanette, it was usually at Ruby’s Diner, where she worked as a waitress for many years. And she was never dressed as he’d seen her in the big city. She was there to design wardrobes for stars. Jeanette was missing Sweetgrass Springs. And wasn’t in her comfort zone in the big city. Walker and Jeanette navigated through life’s unexpected events. One of the life’s curve balls involved Walkers’ young niece, Maisie. She lost her Mom and Walker was next of kin to look after her. He loved her so much, but he had obligations to his Tour, – to his “entourage” and his fans. He employed many people and could not let them
down, yet he also felt very responsible for his sweetheart of a niece who just lost her parent.
To find out how the story unfolds, I highly recommend this book. I know I’ll be listening to this story again.
I received a complimentary copy of this audible and choose to leave an honest review.
Although Jeanette and Walker completely frustrated me at times, I loved this book. It made me smile. When I read the last page, I was sorry it was over, but I was still smiling.
Walker and “Nettie” both had fears that kept them from communicated. They would get right to that point, and either be interrupted, or pull away from the conversation.
Walter’s niece, Maisie, was the sweetest thing and the cause of many of the smiles in this book. I am a real sucker for a romance novel with little kids in it.
Let’s not forget the Sweetgrass Springs family. Supportive family, friends, and neighbors who provide love, friendship, advice, and loyalty to each other.
The only person I didn’t like in this book was Dusty, Walker’s manager. But, both Walker and Jeanette are better people than me. Lol.
I definitely recommend this book. It was hard to review it without giving away too much, and but still trying to convey how much I really enjoyed it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.
****UPDATE – Audio version**** 9/24/19
This was a first for me in my Audiobook journey. Not only was the narration awesome as usual, but the narrator played guitar AND sang a song. I think I read that he also wrote the song.
This narrator has great material to work with when narrating a Jean Brashear book, but he brings the characters to life! Whether the character is male , female, old, young, or a child, Eric covers all of the bases and never takes me out of the flow of the story as he changed from one character to another. I was thinking as I listened to this book that his narrator voice (reading background info, etc.) is even different from his character voices.
I voluntarily listened to and reviewed this audio book received from the author.
Oh my goodness! Jean Brashear did it again. She is one of my most favorite authors for reading and audio. She writes well with great storylines and characters one just has to fall in love with. She has consistently given us a beautiful world to escape into when taking a break from our own.
In this audio/book, Jeanette finally got her story! And it was a beautiful one. I’m so excited that it was Walker Roundtree that stole her heart. Somehow I missed that before now. But that’s okay, I’ll just go reread/listen to them again to see if/when I missed any hinting.
Eric Dove brought the book to life with his narration. He is SO GOOD at narrating. AND HE SINGS! Well done, Eric Dove. Well Done. He has such a smooth voice.
And this part of my review will be a first. Walker (Eric Dove) SINGS a song WITH guitar in this book. It was well done! I’m unsure who wrote the music and who’s playing the guitar, but they get a standing ovation as well.
This author’s characters either grew up together or are coming together to revitalize the town. Ruby is behind the mix some how. You’ll love this quaint little town and how love blossoms.
her books are always so good. this one just as great
Just love all the sweetwater characters.
Wow another Sweetgrass Springs story…..and what a way to continue this series! ! Jean Brashear, you know just how to take another long time town person and give them a chance at finding their HEA! !
This story is about Jeanette Carson, a home town waitress at Ruby’s Cafe and fashion designer by night (but nobody really knows that except Ruby) . Ruby tells Jeanette to show her designs and finds everyone loves them and wants her to spread her wings. She goes to California but finds that she doesn’t like how the upper crust treats her fashions and feels she doesn’t belong there until she goes to a country concert and meets up with Walker Roundtree again….Walker came to Sweetgrass Springs to help build the town and to play at one of his friend’s wedding and the sparks between him and Jeanette were off the charts.
When these two meet again the sparks are still there but Jeanette thinks she can never fit into Walker’s world….will these two make a match and find there HEA or will she just go back to Sweetgrass Springs and back to the job at Ruby’s????
