I have read many of Jean Brashear’s books. This is my favourite. I went from crying over a marriage betrayal, laughing over new love, sadness over a friend’s betrayal, fear for the lives of my friends. I hated to put the book down until I had it finished.
Romance, a little intrigue, action, and sexy times.
I liked Sean and Annabelle together. I loved their easy, fun banter as they got to know each other. The secondary storyline about the undercover op was interesting, and I wish their had been more information as to how Martin got started in the mess.
Other than that, I am just greedy. I would have so enjoyed to read more about the romance developing between Sean and Annabelle. Icing on the cake would have been an epilogue. All that being said, it was a very enjoyable read that I was sorry it had to end.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
This is another great story from Jean Brashear. This one moves away from the usual cowboy style stories but it’s still filled with the excitement and passion we’ve come to expect. Sean Fitzgerald is a detective that is investigating a human trafficking ring. Although he’s immediately drawn to a-list actress Annabelle Quinn, he never would have approached her if he hadn’t been inticed with the idea of being her bodyguard which would get him closer to her best friend and his prime suspect. Bonus, spending time with Annabell is no hardship.
This is a very well done book and I definitely recommend it.
In a series of about 30 books (and yes I’ve read them all) this is tied with the first one for my favorite in this offshoot of characters. The good thing is you don’t have to be like me and read every book in the series to enjoy each books, because while you get to revisit past family members, they are supporting characters and their storyline is not integral to the plot(s).
Whenever you pick up a book by Jean Brashear, you will find well defined and likeable characters with flaws that make them human. You will never go wrong with these books.

While Annabelle has come to town to see her best friend and to get her life back on track, she needs a bodyguard so Sean goes undercover and becomes her bodyguard thinking this may bring him closer to taking Martin down…little does Sean know that there’s more danger, more players, and keeping Annabelle safe from harm could be the hardest of all..
