Cat detective meets doggie witness… What could possibly go wrong? I’m finally coming to terms with the fact I can speak to animals, even though the only one who ever talks back is the crabby tabby I’ve taken to calling Octo-Cat. What I haven’t quite worked out is how to hide my secret… strange new talent of mine and insists I use it to help defend his client against a double murder charge. To make things worse, Octo-Cat has no intention of helping either of us.
Our only hope rests on an unhinged Yorkie named Yo-Yo, who hasn’t quite figured out his owner is dead. Can we find a way to get Yo-Yo to help solve the murder without breaking his poor doggie heart?

Terrier Transgressions by Molly Fitz has readers returning to Blueberry Bay, California. Angie Russo is a paralegal at Thompson and Associates where Mr. Thompson has hired the handsome (in Angie’s opinion) lawyer, Charles Longfellow III. The office is deserted when Angie gets a call from Octo-Cat who is unnerved that there is a fly in is Evian and he wants Angie to come home right away to deal with the situation (he is a tad bit spoiled). Angie is so busy talking to Octo-Cat on her iPad that she does not notice Charles come up behind her. In order to keep her special gift a secret, Charles wants her help on his latest case. Brock Calhoun is accused of murdering Ruth and Bill Hayes. Public opinion is against Brock and it does not help that a certain local reporter (aka Angie’s mother) will be doing an hour long special on the crime. Charles has a witness that he wishes Angie to question—Yo-Yo, the Hayes’ Yorkshire Terrier. Angie needs Octo-Cat’s assistance in talking to the hyper little pup who has the gall to lick the persnickety canine on his face. Unfortunately, Yo-Yo has blocked his parents murder and is unaware of their passing. Angie decides to do a little digging and enlists Nan’s assistance. Nan’s acting talents and charm come in handy in getting people to open up to them. Angie cannot believe what her life has become since she was shocked by the coffee pot. Will Angie, Charles, Nan, Octo-Cat and Yo-Yo be able to prove Brock’s innocence?
Terrier Transgressions is the second hair raising tale in the Pet Whisperer PI series. Angie Russo was shocked when she plugged in an ancient coffee pot and woke up being able to talk to Octo-Cat. Angie and Octo-Cat have settled into a routine which basically means Angie giving into the cat’s numerous demands (he has his own iPad). I thought Terrier Transgressions contained good writing and moved along at a fast clip. I like Molly Fitz’s engaging writing style. While Terrier Transgressions can be read alone, I recommend reading Kitty Confidential first. Terrier Transgressions is a humorous cozy mystery that will have you laughing from the first chapter to the last. Octo-Cat plus Nan provide witty commentary and they are such over-the-top characters. I loved Octo-Cat’s reaction to the harness and leash that Angie purchased. My favorite line from Terrier Transgressions comes from Octo-Cat who says, “I am a cat, not a common mouth breathing dog.” You can certainly tell Octo-Cat’s opinion of dogs. The ending left me chuckling and eager to pick up Hairless Harassment.
We have a totally spoiled cat, named Octo-Cat for lack of a better name by the owner. Said owner is a paralegal who has a crush on Charles, a lawyer for the firm she works for. Imagine how good it feels to have your crush ask you to help him on a case. Unfortunately, he doesn’t ask, he blackmails. He just found out that she can talk to her cat and the cat talks back. He’s trying to figure out who killed the victims of the case he’s working on and he thinks Octo-Cat can help. There’s some funny stuff in this book, including the granny who is a total hippy and is really in to having our girl be a private eye. There’s Mom, a big-time TV reporter who is going to do an expose on the guy the cops think did it. Then there’s the little Yorkie who belonged to the victims, who Charles thinks can finger the real killer. If you want a book that won’t make you think too hard, this is the one for you.
Angie and Octo-cat are on another case. This book is funny. Octo-Cat is still entertaining, gotta love that cat. Again love talking cats. This book is a quick, fun and easy read. This series is very enjoyable so far. Can’t wait to read the rest.
This is a super fun cozy mystery! I love it! It is clever and cool… and has adventure and laughs.
I voluntarily received an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
4 1/2 stars
This series never fails, giving you what you want from a cozy mystery story. If you like animals then you’d love this series. Pets helping their owners either to solve the murder or to help figure out who murdered their owner.
Reading these books out of order you can do so if you don have access to them don’t not read them because of it. But reading in order you get the full experience of how the main character does what she does, and how she an the cat became friends etc.
And yes my preteen advanced reading friends can read this series.
Angie has been caught. A co-worker has found her talking to Octo-Cat and is requiring her to help with his client’s defense. Since Angie can’t understand dogs, she enlists Octo-Cat to translate. This is a fun foray into a mystery. The solution is a surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next.
After a wealthy couple was found murdered, it is up to Angela, Octocat, and a Yorkie named YoYo to solve their murder before an innocent man pays the ultimate price. But can she rise to this task while her secret of talking to animals is being threatened to be revealed?
Another excellent book by Molly Fitz. This was a great book and Angie and gang get together to solve a murder.
This was an entertaining story. I liked it.
I have been provided with a copy of Terrier Transgressions by the author for an impartial review. This is the second book in the brand-new Pet Whisperer P.I. series and I just loved getting to go back into this amazing world. I just loved getting to see Angie on her next adventure and it was just so much fun getting to go along with her and her crazy friends. I loved getting to read this new story and meet some new characters. It was just such a hilarious book. I will most definitely be reading the next book in the series.
Outrageously fun, and just as outrageously improbable. Doctor Doolittle meets the Keystone Cops? Sounds about right. This time ‘round, Angie and Octo-Cat – our favorite crabby tabby – get roped into playing interpreter to a traumatized Yorkie who’s recently lost his owners. What follows is a series of zany capers worthy of the aforementioned Keystone Cops as Angie and Co. race to decipher the clues the Yorkie’s able to give. I adore Octavius. I’m sure most of it is because I’ve been owned by felines with similar “discerning” personalities. Angie’s still got that tendency to get fixated on a single theory, but she recognizes her problem and is trying to do better… sort of. I had a ton of fun with this book and I look forward to reading lots more about Angie and Octo-Cat.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
Cute, fast-paced cozy with a delightfully sarcastic sidekick
4.5stars
Seems that this amateur detective who actually does paralegal work at a law firm can’t keep her big secret for anything! And her trust-rich and pampered sidekick Octo-Cat is deliciously self-absorbed, snarky and the lynchpin of her investigative success. The story was well-written, super easy to read and fun.
This was my first time reading a Molly Fitz work and, since I enjoyed it so much, I will be looking for others.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This was a fun adventure to find a murderer. We meet a new man in Angie’s life, maybe he will stay. Octo-Cat is a typical cat, I think I am happy I can’t hear my cats talk in real life, haha. Well I didn’t know who did it so that is always a good thing when reading a mystery. I love the added benefit of talking animals in these books. These books are fun cozy mysteries with help from Octo-Cat.
*I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Clever cozy mystery again by Molly Fitz. Any cat person knows that cats are the bossiest and Octo-cat is the most spoiled feline imaginable. To top it off, Octo-cat is as snarky as ever as they attempt to find out the killers of Yo-Yo, the Yorkie pet of a recently murdered couple. It’s hard for a cat to work with a happy dog, though.
Angie and all the previous cast of characters are joined by Charles, a new associate lawyer at work, who desperately wants to prove his client innocent. He sees Angie talking to her cat and blackmails her into helping him out with the case. Angie has a crush on Charles so its not so hard to work along side him, if only they had longer than the next 5 days to figure it out.
I received a free copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion of this story and I must say it was a really fun book to read.
This is such a fun and fascinating cozy mystery! If one is seeking a cozy to relax over, laugh at, and still ponder whodunit, look no further. Angie, a paralegal, had an incident recently that changed her life. Not only can she talk with animals, but she can hear and understand them! Including Octo-Cat, who she now cares for after helping the “crabby tabby” find who killed his owner. It doesn’t hurt that she gets paid a sweet sum every month to care for him, but keeping the feline in the manner he is accustomed, including Evian from the bottle, is no small cost.
The darling boy called Angie at work from his iPad one day, most distressed, as there was a fly in his Evian. She thought everyone in the office was out to lunch, otherwise she wouldn’t have answered at her desk. Her new pet whisperer status is kept a secret from almost everyone, especially those at work.
Oops. The new, very debonair attorney, Charlies Longfellow III happened upon Angie as she tried to problem-solve the fly in the water with the hoity-toity kitty. It doesn’t take long for the lawyer to “get” that Angie and Octo-Cat were conversing. In exchange for his silence, she has to help him with a little project.
Charles has a new client, a young man accused of murdering a couple in the home they were selling. Charles has come across the traumatized pup of the former owners, Yo-Yo, a neurotic Yorkie who still wants to go back home. Yo-Yo may be the only being who knows who really killed them. Angie’s end of the bargain? She, with help from Octo-Cat, need to help Yo-Yo lead them to the real bad guy. Wow. No small request there!
The characters – in this case Angie, Charles, Octo-Cat, Yo-Yo, and the realtor are defined as needed for their roles. Octo-Cat sounds like a little monster at times!! There might be times it’s good that I don’t understand what my cats say! He and Angie are starting to grow on each other, so I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for their relationship. Angie has been crushin’ on Charles and tries to act interested only in the case they are working on without sticking her foot in her mouth.
With regards to the narrator on the audiobook version, I really like her! She captures the engaging and delightful personality of Angie and Octo-Cat’s ‘tude. The mystery is a challenge; I didn’t figure it out! I highly recommend this to anyone who likes hard-to-solve mysteries, LOL humor, feisty cats, and sweet, intelligent heroines.
From a thankful heart: I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook; a review was not required (also have the e-book).
I really enjoyed Terrier Transgressions. This is a fun and interesting story. I like the characters. I love Octo-Cat! He is hilarious. I love how Angie and Octo-Cat interact together. The mystery is interesting and I was kept guessing right until the end. This book was a wonderful read!
In this, the 2nd book of the Pet Whisperer P.I. series, we see Angie accepting her new ability to talk to her cat (sure wish I could!), and getting caught doing so by her co-worker at the law firm, Charles. He coerces her into helping him solve the murder of a client which was witnessed by the client’s Yorkie.
Angie attempts to talk to the dog, but can’t communicate with him, so she bribes Octo-cat with a huge future favor to get him to talk to the dog.
Thus begins the 2nd adventures of Angie, Octo-cat, and the other quirky characters in this lighthearted, humorous, fast read. If you love cats and cozy mysteries, this is a series for you. I subtracted one star for the typos and incorrect word choices, hopefully this will be fixed in future books, but definitely worth reading (and I’m fanatical about proofreading!).
I loved this book , where else can you get told off by a cat? I like getting a perspective on life through the cats eyes and I think the author has nailed the animals perfectly, being a cat and dog owner at one time I find it funny when Octo-Cat and even Dumb-Dumb do something my animals use to do. The characters are fun especially Octo-Cat and Nan and can’t wait to start reading the next book. The mystery was good and I didn’t work out who the killer was despite the clues.
Angie is caught at work talking to her cat on the ipad and in order to keep her secret she is blackmailed into helping Charles to prove his client is innocent of the murder he is accused of committing. The only witness to the grizzly murder is a dog and Charles wants her to talk to the dog. When that doesn’t work the pair have to broker a truce between the oldest feuding pair there is, Dog V Cat and to top is all off they are up against the clock as Angie’s own mother is going to do an expose on the case. Can old grudges be put aside for the greater good or will Angie end up owing Octo-Cat more than she can afford?
Angie and Octo-Cat are back and this time they are going to help a dog! Octo-Cat is not very happy to help the little yappy dog to figure out who killed his people. Angie enlists the help of a new associate, who may be blackmailing her, to find the murderer. Another fun adventure.
I have totally fell in love with this series. Angie and Octo-Cat are such wonderful characters. I loved reading this fun book….
