TEQUILA + YOUR BEST FRIEND + YOUR BEDROOM = UM. WHOOPSIE?Don’t sleep with your best friend.Take it from me. I did it. And it was awful.
I-wish-the-tequila-made-me-forget kind of bad.
The problem is, Luke has forgotten. He swears that he can’t remember a thing about that night beyond the trays of tequila shots being set on the tables.
Except I can’t forget. I can’t forget how good his hands …
Except I can’t forget. I can’t forget how good his hands felt until I fell over and hit my hip on the dresser, and I sure as hell can’t forget the entire two minutes of tap-tap-squirt.
Awkward. Embarrassing. And the new subject of a couple of dirty lucid dreams.
But I have no intention of telling him what we did. Nothing good comes from telling your best friend he’s the worst guy you’ve ever slept with.
Which makes the tequila on my birthday a very, very bad idea…
I loved every single part of this best friends to lovers story! Luke and Aspen were everything and more. I stayed up way past my bedtime devouring their story and stole as many moments at work as I could to finish their brilliant story.
What starts with too much tequila, changes their relationship in a way neither of them saw coming. I could easily connect with their story because it is so similar to my own happily ever after. Friends to lovers romances will always have a special place in my heart because of that. I was laughing out loud at Luke and Aspen, and falling in love with them all at the same time.
One of the hardest things to do is take a chance on changing, and possibly losing, a relationship because of the possibility that there might be something more right around the corner. I loved every second of watching Luke and Aspen come to terms with what that meant for them and to finally decide to take the leap.
As always, the secondary characters in this book were fantastic! Emma has such a unique way of creating a cast of supporting characters that add so much depth, humor, and emotion to the story without distracting from the couple’s journey to a happily ever after.
Don’t wait! Grab this story right now and laugh as these two best friends deal with the aftermath of a drunken night and the emotions that develop and change their friendship for the better.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
This is, hands down, one of my top 3 favorite Emma Hart books to date! I love a good friends-to-lovers romance, but the road for Aspen and Luke isn’t quite so smooth, especially when tequila makes an appearance. They’ve been best friends for twenty years, but for whatever reason, imbibing on the tequila seemingly changes the course of their friendship.
Or does it? I gotta admit, I’ll read everything Emma Hart writes, but give me a story where the first sexual encounter between lifelong friends isn’t great because of whiskey d#ck? Oh man, how do you recover and move past that situation? That, my friends, is worth the price of the book to find out how Luke and Aspen deal with the change in their friendship. As hilarious as they are together, I gotta that Luke’s Abuelita pretty much stole the scenes she appeared in, her and her la chancla threats were the best!
Emma Hart, once again, proves why she’s one of the queens of romantic comedies with her newest release Tequila, Tequila. Luke and Aspen’s story not only has the witty banter, quirky antics, and sexy scenes that readers have come to expect from Hart’s amusing and snarky reads, but Hart also puts her own spin on a common romance trope, friends-to-lovers, by creating a realistic scenario of best friends, tequila, and a less than stellar night in the sheets that only one of them remembers.
One of the reasons I enjoy Hart’s storytelling is because she provides her readers with both Luke and Aspen’s perspectives, giving her us much needed insight as the hero and the heroine struggle to redefine their friendship and work to understand how their feelings became something more after a very fuzzy night of Tequila and some spotty memories. These two have always shared an amazingly easy relationship but accidentally falling into bed with one another complicates things, especially on Aspen’s end because she’s the one who remembers their less than stellar night of drunken sex. So witnessing her figure out this new dynamic without letting on that things have changed for her when it comes to her newly acquired affection for Luke is a heck of a crazy and hilarious ride – one that I couldn’t help but hope Luke would rectify when he finally understands why he craves his best friend in more than ‘friendly’ ways.
For me, a story with dynamic and entertaining secondary characters makes the plot that much better, and in Luke and Aspen’s book, their friends and family members add to the hilarity of the situations Luke and Aspen find themselves in, moving the plot forward but also adding providing readers with some of their own antics and insights that not only shake up Luke and Aspen’s lives but also allow readers a third perspective when it comes to the inevitability of something more developing between these two.
Tequila, Tequila is a fast-paced, witty, and steamy read that will have readers reveling in the humorous scenes and the amazing banter between Luke and Aspen, and it was just the light-hearted story I needed after a series of emotional draining romances.
4.5 Poison Apples
I was literally laughing throughout this book! If it wasn’t Aspen and Luke, it was Blaire, his grandma or his family. I probably looked like a total dork because I had a smile on my face for most of it.
I loved EVERYBODY in this book! Well just about everyone except for one guy that made me kind of twitchy but he was alright too. lol Just learn what the word no means buddy.
I could feel the emotions that Aspen and Luke were going through. Totally melted my heart! Loved this friends to lover book!!!
NO SPOILERS!
Tequila, Tequila was full of laughs, heat, and humor, and has definitely been one of my favorite romantic comedies from Emma Hart this year! The storyline and characters were amazing, and I loved the author’s writing style and sense of humor.
The storyline was fantastic. Emma Hart knows how to write a fun, flirty, and entertaining romantic comedy that will make you laugh-out-loud from beginning to end, and she definitely did that and more with Tequila, Tequila. Friends-to-lovers, especially best-friends-to-lovers, is one of my favorite romance tropes, and I loved the story Ms. Hart created in Tequila, Tequila. It had an abundance of heart, heat, and humor, and I loved it so much.
The characters were amazing. Luke and Aspen were fun, feisty, and highly entertaining, and I loved them and their story. I loved their personalities and chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. Even though there was some sexy times, I would’ve loved more heat and intimate moments between them. However, I was still happy with the amount I received. I loved reading Tequila, Tequila from both Luke and Aspen’s point of view, and all of their playful, witty, and humorous banter and interactions with each other. Between Luke, Aspen, and all of the secondary characters, there wasn’t a single dull moment. Everything was extremely hilarious and entertaining, and I was happy with the conclusion to Luke and Aspen’s story.
Tequila, Tequila was another fun, hilarious, and entertaining standalone romantic comedy from Emma Hart, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! She did a phenomenal job with Luke and Aspen’s story, and I can’t wait to read her next standalone romcom, Catastrophe Queen!
Tequila Tequila is hilarious friends to lovers romance that had me laughing out loud throughout the entire book. Aspen and Luke drew me in from the first chapter and I just could not get enough of their witty banter, the hilarious one liners and just their overall relationship. Throw in some great friends, one hell of crazy family and two people who are so oblivious to the fact they’ve basically been dating their entire lives, you are in for a sexy and funny romance! If only every Tequila story ended up like this one 😉 A must read for any Emma Hart fan!
By far, my favorite RomCom of 2018! Aspen and Luke are delightful and witty in this best friends to lovers story. Quite possibly my favorite book in this trope, the progression and flow of the story keep you glued to the story and unable to put it down. Definitely a must-own!
Tequila, Tequila is Emma Hart’s next hilarious romcom romance. I just love a great romcom and I can always count of Emma to give me what I want. What I need. A book full of sass, sarcasm, heat, laughter, and love. I will make this fast so I don’t spoil anything.
Tequila. It was made by the devil. It is what started this mess. The awkwardness. After a night of shot after shot, Aspen and Luke fall into bed together. It’s not the first time. They have been best friends since they were five. Over the last twenty years there have been many nights of sleeping in the same bed but this was different. This time they have sex. The worst sex. Ever. The only saving grace was that Luke didn’t remember it.
How was she supposed to be around him now. It was the worse sex ever but she still thought of his hands. His kisses. Maybe it was just the tequila that made him a two-pump chump. They never lied to each other so how was she going to get through this awkwardness? Tell him the truth and embarrass him or let it go and leave her dreams to herself? Either way can ruin their friendship.
I loved it. It’s hilarious, fresh, and a bit crazy. The characters are relatable and lovable. The banter between Luke and Aspen is what best friends goals are all about.
P.S. I need to invest in flip-flops.
Quotes:
“Please don’t ever ask me to buy you tampons again. I’m not sure my ego or reputation can take it.”
“Your reputation got shot to shit on your twenty-first when you mooned the mayor in the town square,” I reminded him.
“Fuck diamonds. I’ve got a girl’s best friend right here. A hair tie.”
“You all right, man?” Will slapped me on the shoulder. “You look like you’re plottin’ a murder.”
I rolled my shoulder and followed him up to the bar. “Not today. Maybe tomorrow.”
Tequila, Tequila is Emma Hart’s newest laugh out loud, hilarious rom com that will having you craving tacos, a shot of tequila and a sexy best friend. Emma always delivers the laughs with equal fun, sassiness, sexiness, friendship, food and booze. Aspen and Luke have been best friends for twenty years. They laugh together, eat together, relax together and even sleep together. Platonically. Until too much tequila and they end up naked in bed having the worst sex known to man. What do they do? Ignore it, of course. But when they can’t do that anymore and one deliberate and sober kiss knocks their friendship off kilter they have to decide what to do? Keep ignoring the new attraction or fully act on it? Can they go from friends to dating easily? Will there still be tacos and tequila? I loved this story! I love friends to lovers romances and this was perfection! They already knew each other so well that the kiss just ignited the dormant chemistry. Luke is so sexy with his hair and abs and Aspen is hilarious with her sassy mouth and love of food. Their friendship is what dreams are made of especially when those sexy dreams lead you to being more than friends.
***5 ‘Perfect Sense’ Stars***
Now this may just be my favorite best friends to lovers romance this year. It had everything I love about the trope and then some, and that ‘some’ was all kinds of fun. It was sweet, smexy, snarky and full of heart and laughter as Aspen and Luke navigated their way through and around their shifting feelings for each other.
I adore Aspen and Luke. Aspen has just the right mix of sweet and snarky and isn’t afraid to speak her mind (most of the time). She cares deeply for her friends and will do anything to protect those relationships. Luke is a sweetheart. He’s laid back and has a charm that draws you in from the moment you meet him. His family and friends are all a little batshit crazy, but he’d do anything to keep them happy and safe.
Aspen and Luke’s journey to their HEA was all kinds of fun. The catalyst for the change in their status from best friends to lovers wasn’t unexpected, though the fall out from it kind of was. The fact that they were already best friends made it so easy to see how they could be more than that, if they only let themselves, because they knew each other inside out. Their bantering was a lot of fun and the sexual chemistry between them was smexy as all get out. There isn’t a lot of drama or angst going on between them, which I truly enjoyed, and though there was some awkwardness between them, it didn’t really mess up the relationship they already had. It does take them a bit to figure things out, and a few nudges and swift kicks in ass by friends and family, but I really liked where they ended up when everything was said and done.
This book really was a fun read. I was drawn into the story right from the start and fell in love with Aspen and Luke easily. While there is snark in this book, it’s not as OTT as some of the other books I’ve read by the author. And while I’ve laughed while reading books before, this one had me rolling, and much of the humor came from the supporting cast of characters. Luke’s family was ALL kinds of crazy fun and there was one situation that totally reminded me of mine. Blaire, besties with both Luke and Aspen, was a character and I wouldn’t mind growing up to like her one day *BSEG* But all in all, this was a great read, so if you like best friends to lovers romances and a cast of crazy, but lovable characters, then this one is a must read for you!

This author’s romantic comedies are ALWAYS my first to suggest to friends who love to laugh, and this story is no exception. I can’t even tell you how many times I laughed OUT LOUD during this story, not to mention it had just the perfect combination of feels and struggles.
In this story, I felt an immediate connection to the cast of characters. Sometimes with supporting characters, they can get lost in the mix or seem a little generic, but in this story every single character was unique. Also, much of my laughter was due to the supporting cast! Luke’s family was a blast and I loved that the family, and friends, kicked in and helped these two figure things out!
Aspen and Luke were an interesting couple. I love when couples begin as best friends, both in stories and in real life. Having that friendship as a basis seems to make the story a little more solid. For these two, they already had a great friendship, so when things got awkward and they were forced to acknowledge all the attraction brewing between them, I loved that they still kept their friendship through it.
One of my favorites, to date!
I couldn’t put Tequila Tequila down. I needed to know what was going to happen.
After a drunk out night, Luke and Aspen, who happen to be best friends, in an awkward situation…that lasted only 2 minutes. Neither of them wanted to tell each other they remembered. When they finally talk about it, they wonder what could happen between the two of them. Could they make it work? Would Luke’s family stop pushing him to find a good girl? Would Luke’s grandma stop pushing his cousins on Aspen?
This book made me laugh out loud. Emma has done it again! The characters were awesome together. The perfect amount of drama, with the perfect amount of crazyness!
5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
Emma Hart…you’ve done it again. You’ve made me fall for you and so incredibly hard. This story was amazing. I could not put it down. And when I tried…I found myself wondering what was going to happen next with Luke and Aspen. I found myself wanting more. I would not recommend starting this book unless you can sit and read it at one time. No seriously…I was mad that I started it over my lunch break at work, because I couldn’t get my mind off it enough to work.
Aspen is great. Girlfriend can’t hold her Tequila to her life, but I think that just made me love her so much more. I loved how witty Aspen was. I loved her sense of humor and her personality. Then there’s Luke. I’m not even sure where to begin with him. I loved him from the word go. I loved how much he loved Aspen as his best friend, but I loved them together even more. I loved watching these two try to pussy foot around the events. I loved watching all come to a head. You know it wasn’t going to go well once it did. Most of all…I loved the end.
The secondary characters make this book. I loved each and everyone of them. And I’m wondering where I can get my very own Abuelita. She seriously made this book. Please check out this awesome story. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Holy cow! Emma Hart has done it again! She has brought us an amazing, laugh-out-loud, friends-to-lovers story that is absolutely addictive. Seriously I could not put it down.
I loved Aspen and Luke from the start and loved every second of their story. Best friends since they were 5, neither of them ever thought about anything romantic. Until one night of too many Tequila shots, they cross a line neither ever intended to cross. Of course that leads to a lot of questions.
As much as I loved Luke and Aspen, the side characters in this one are just as amazing. Aubuelita is hilarious and crazy and just what you want in a nosy grandmother. I loved everything about this story and I can’t wait to see what Hart brings us next!
Get ready to hold you sides and wipe away tears of laughter as your take a utterly delicious journey of hilarity with Aspen and Luke. It’s the age of adage One Tequila Two Tequila Three Tequila Floor – If you don’t remember it definitely didn’t happen right?!?!? When you have the most lackluster night with your bestie that you have literally never had a lusty feeling about it’s a nonstarter right? It’s just too bad that reality is not living up to these old barlife rule and now Aspen and Luke are in quite the pickle. They spend like 99% of their time together and don’t want to mess up what is best friendship ever… but what happens when you apparently don’t get a say!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book
I loved this cute story of Best friend who slowly transform their relationship with thanks to tequila. Luke and Aspen were a great couple and their relationship as best friends was something a lot of us wish we had.
I have to say that Luke’s grandmother was absolutely hilarious.
Tequila Tequila… this book is a laugh out loud, light and bubbly rom-com of epic proportions!
Following a drunken night and way way way to much tequila.. Aspen and her best friend of 20 years do the unthinkable!! Yup… bumping of uglys that does not..end…well…
following this awkwarness both pretend to not remember when infact they are torn up inside remembering and equally facing a flood of emotions that they did not expect to be feeling about each other…
The wonderful interactions between Aspen and Luke had me smiling from ear to ear and I could not put this book down. Light hearted and fluffy with minimal drama and filled with funnies! .. the best kind of rom-com I laughed my way through this book…for me I think the boss of this book had to be ‘Abulita’ that woman knows how to work a flip-flop!!
She’s a wild one. With the face of an angel and the spirit of a hellion. One reckless night has her in over her head and could cost her heart. Emma Hart dazzles with her flirty tales of friendship, fire, laughs and forever. Tequila,Tequila has spitfire written all over a saucy heartwarming barrel of laughs. Luke and Aspen are adorkably clueless in an amazingly entertaining sort of way.
Emma Hart is the princess of romantic comedy! Everytime I read one of her stories, she has me in tears! Tears of laughter!
Epically funny, fantastically smexy, Tequila Tequila is just another jewel in her crown of successes!
This is the story of Aspen and Luke, lifelong friends that have too many tequila shots and a horrible experience. Hoping each other forgot is the least of their problems!
I enjoyed Aspen’s fierce independence and her take no crap attitude! Her job as a bartender is perfect for her! Her love of her friends and her hatred for Aunt Flo is fabulous!
Luke is the perfect calm to Aspen’s storm. His family is hysterical and everybody should have an Abuelita just like her! And watch out for her la chancla! (You will find out what this is if you don’t know and you will fear it too!)
This is another stellar, fast paced, easy to read, breath of fresh air and laughs! I have yet to read something of Ms. Hart’s that I haven’t laughed out loud over and that is just one thing that has made me a huge fan!!
Bravo Ms. Hart!! Keep the laughs and the swoons coming!!
I love this BFF’S to lovers story. Luke and Aspen were such a cute couple. I loved how easy they were around each other even when their relationship turn to lovers. I could relate on so many levels since my husband was also my BFF before we started a new relationship.
And don’t get me started on the side characters. I love Abuelita. My family is from the Balkans so I know how bad and loud a family gathering can be.
This story was a short, funny, full of sarcastic banter that will leave you with watery eyes from laughing out loud. You can not and will not go wrong with picking up this book.
